Shared Grocery List Reviews

This looked like a great option to replace the flaky, annoying Reminders app for shared lists. I downloaded it on my and my wife’s phones, transferred my lists, signed up for premium, and was pretty hopeful about it. Firstly, ads were still showing on my app. I emailed support— telling them that had signed in and hitting the premium subscription option told me I was already subscribed— and they got back to me 2 days later to tell me to make sure I was signed in. So, I sent them a bunch of screenshots and then 2 days later they got back to me to tell me it was a “server malfunction.” Ok... it happens. Less than a week later I was putting my grocery list together through the website interface. I’m guessing it has something to do with the fact that I had two browser windows open with the lists showing— my grocery list just disappears. I tried signing out and in again... still nothing. Still available in SharedGroceryList , so I signed in and out in SharedGroceryList in hopes it would re-upload it... it didn’t. I’m a software developer so I have an idea of how the back-end of systems like this work... this is either someone who doesn’t care, or has no idea what they’re doing. Someone actually charging people for a system with beta-level reliability is just sad.

SharedGroceryList used to work great for me and my spouse, but in the past few months it’s been failing to update lists across our devices. This isn’t just a hiccup—sometimes I’ll reload a list multiple times, even restart my phone, and it still shows the old version of the list after my spouse has checked off everything as purchased. Even this isn’t consistent, however. Seemingly at random, I’ll get multiple notifications as my spouse updates items on a list—one for every change. This was the entire reason we had SharedGroceryList ; now we can’t ever rely on the lists being accurate and up to date, but we’ve just kept trying like lab rats getting an inconsistent reward. Clearly that’s partially on us, but I can’t believe they’re trying to sell a premium version when the basic functionality isn’t there.

All I need in a grocery list app is a list of items in my preferred order. When I first started using SharedGroceryList , drag & drop reordering worked fine. A month later, drag & drop is a wild-west situation.

Want to move apples to the top of the list? Good luck if the list is more than a few items. You need to move the apples up your list in stages & in the meantime, all the other items spontaneously reorder themselves.

And when you’re adding items to your list, you have to tap done to add the item and done again to actually see the list.

Today was the last straw when I spent more time reordering the list, backtracking, and checking my meal planning app to try to verify that I got everything I needed. I just don’t have time or energy to spend on SharedGroceryList anymore. And the icing on the cake is that they ask if I’m enjoying SharedGroceryList & ask for feedback & the “feedback” page was an ad to “upgrade” to the paid version of an app where the free version doesn’t work! Ballsy, to put it mildly! So instead I am deleting SharedGroceryList and finding something, anything else.

SharedGroceryList was awesome up until today 5/4/18. No idea what changed but I went to check the list that my husband and I share and it was gone. Here we are 4 hours later and we still can’t get it back. I can’t even log in. Every time I try to log in SharedGroceryList freezes. I tried resetting the password and logging in through Facebook. Still freezes. I have restarted my phone multiple times and also deleted SharedGroceryList and re-downloaded multiple times. No luck. My husband has also tried sharing the list with me multiple times but I still can’t see it. Not sure if an update messed things up or what but this is quite the hassle for something that should be so simple and worked great for months up until this point.

Have used Listonic for a couple of years and found it helpful to maintain my grocery shopping list. I would have rated it more highly until recent problems:
I agree that the recent advertiser prompt to accept/decline user info is annoying: I chose decline, then again and each day the prompt returns. I made a choice, please abide by it!
Also, I had an long list of grocery items on my Listonic service, and recently all of the items have disappeared from my list, for the 2nd time. I have had to re-add the items as I need them. I first reported this occurrence on Dec. 14, 2018.
This is NOT helpful. Am considering searching for a replacement ap.

Been using SharedGroceryList for years and it’s been great. I love all members of the household can contribute to the same list and it syncs pretty reliably (though there is occasionally a delay when syncing).
However, for the last few weeks it has been adding items multiple times. About 50% of the time, when I add a new item to the list, SharedGroceryList duplicates that item multiple times, sometimes up to 20 duplicates! Then I have to spend the time deleting every repeat item. I don’t want to find another list app because this one has been great until recently, but please fix this bug!

I’ve had SharedGroceryList for years and have always been really satisfied with the functionality of SharedGroceryList . I like that I can share lists with others who also have SharedGroceryList , even if it’s NOT an iPhone.

About the only thing I wish SharedGroceryList did was make finding group items easier. You can re-organize the categories based on how you shop but it’s a bit tedious force-touching a category & dragging it to that position. And sometimes that doesn’t work. I’ve tried re-organizing the categories based on how my store is laid out but either SharedGroceryList just crashes or it reverts back to the standard list order.
I just hate that while shopping I get my fruits & veggies first but that category is almost all the way at the bottom.

I really like SharedGroceryList! The interface is simple and clean, but it has features that are very helpful (for example, an option to keep the screen from dimming when you have a list open.) I don’t like that swiping left on a list item can edit or delete it. There’s been a couple of times where I accidentally deleted something because I was trying to edit it, and since there isn’t an undo button I couldn’t get it back. I’ve tried giving feedback about this when the asks app if I have suggestions, but when I do that it takes me to a page to purchase premium instead.

I wish it would remember the amounts I put in the last time so I can compare prices each time I shop, my only other complaint is I have to type the whole word of items I’m looking for or I end out with the partial words on the choice list as well.

But it’s much easier to share the list with my husband we each have different operating systems for our phones. And we can still check them off.

I tried several list apps with at least several thousand downloads and this is so far the best free app. It has a couple features such as adding prices and units. When making a list with prices, it totals it at the bottom and when you start checking off items it will list the total checked off and how much remains of the total on the list. I would like to see SharedGroceryList grow with more features in the future but overall I’m sarisfied.

My younger sister is shopping for our groceries during the pandemic and with our items being categorized by areas n the store, SharedGroceryList allows her to zip thru the store seamlessly. We can actually c her checking off each of our items from SharedGroceryList ! Plus she set up her own list on SharedGroceryList and purchases for us both families at the same time. We tried 4 or 5 grocery apps b4 dismissing them and LOVING this one—it’s actually perfect!!!!

I’ve been using Listonic for a few years now and I love it. First of all I set up lists for various grocery stores that I go to, I often have certain things that I like to pick up there every time I go so it’s great to have a prefixed list and then I just add a few extra items as I need to. I also use it when I go out to run errands so that I don’t end up backtracking and I get everything done. I have packing list for travel, I’ll sorts of list to keep myself organized. I also love that it will suggest items that I’ve already used in the past which makes it easy to use.

I usually don’t like using apps to keep me organized bc I try to stay off my phone and I’m better at keeping everything on paper in an agenda or calendar. However, my fiancé told me to get SharedGroceryList so I decided to try it out. I love how easy it is to use. I find myself making lists more on SharedGroceryList and getting things done more when I use SharedGroceryList versus making a list that gets lost in my purse and I forget it was there in the first place!

I’ve tried so many list apps it makes my head spin. I just wanted something simple and easy to use without a ton of different options. What I really needed was an app that had the ability to create multiple lists for different stores that I purchase from. This is the perfect app for that. It’s easy and I have all my stores listed and ready to add my items.

My mom goes shopping every month and we used to forget things like she would make a list and before then I would send her a message and she would forget, but with this she shared the shopping list with everyone and if we think of anything, we can put it on the list so she won’t forget it. You can also mark them off which is helpful.

I had a list app that I really liked but after upgrading my phone that app was not supported by SharedGroceryList Store anymore so I had to go out and find a new one. So after trying many I came across Listonic and it was by far the best of all the list apps. Doesn’t bombard you with extra features as it just does a great job of creating lists. Don’t miss out on trying this if you’re looking for a list app. You won’t be disappointed!

I started using this as a grocery list a few years ago. I have over 20 lists now, from groceries to specific stores, like Costco and Home Depot, i use it each year for kids’ Christmas lists, I have a Today list where I put just things I need to accomplish in a day, my wife and I stated a movie list where we put movies we want to watch but haven’t gotten to yet... the sharing feature is great because my wife will add items to the grocery list while I am out and I get notification that there’s more on there.

This is a BRILLIANT app! Love how user friendly it is. I would love to see them add a few features — the option of including the expiration date for items and sort items by expiration date.
It would be great to be able to quickly check what on my shopping list has the shortest shelf life and needs to be used first.
You could even use it to keep up with what was in your fridge and how long you had until it went bad, if they included the option of adding expiration dates!
But that is my one suggestion. SharedGroceryList is fantastic! Thank you for all of your hard work!

Love SharedGroceryList! Our family uses it often.
We love the fact that if one of us adds or checks off an item we’re all notified.
Basically a great group application! I don’t know what id do without it.
Believe me I’ve tried every app out there and not one even comes close!!

Set up is a breeze as well! I recommend SharedGroceryList to families with children who can spell and up.
If your in need of an app to help you organize shopping lists or any type of list for all the stores and places where you shop and run errands this is SharedGroceryList for you and your family.
Also great for organizing items you need to pack for a trip.
A list of chores for the kids to do. I could go on and on but I think it’s clear that I love SharedGroceryList!!
I’d try it first and skip all the others that can’t do everything you need it to do without frustration.

As a mom that works full time and goes to school I’m always so busy and I’ve done the paper lists on the fridge but more often than not I leave the list at home and end up forgetting the main things I need from the store but with Listonic if something comes to mind I can just type it on my list and my favorite part is being able to just tap on the item I’ve already added to my cart and not have to balance pushing the cart and marking off a paper list with a pen.

I had been very happy using SharedGroceryList on my cell phone for approximately a year and a half. Somewhere during a recent app date SharedGroceryList became no longer visible on my phone. Every time I want to access it, I have to go to SharedGroceryList Store and install it. AGAIN! My lists are still there but the convenience is long gone. I’ve asked for assistance from the company because I suspect there is a glitch here, but I’ve not been able to get a meaningful response.

I sure would love to get my app back but I may just have to get my list somewhere else.

SharedGroceryList works so well that it has become my go list app for groceries, bills, and future reminders of things to buy. I normally would use Evernote for things such as that but SharedGroceryList has definitely earned a spot on my iPhone. Only reason it’s not 5 stars is because you can’t show the categories and prices at the same time, just one or the other. Hopefully then can make that adjustment soon and this would be perfect!

SharedGroceryList is great for families who are always adding grocery items to the list. It automatically updates right away and you can share the list with your family members so they can add to the list as well. I do however wish that you could add pictures to items because some times I want something specific and adding a picture would be very helpful.

I really love SharedGroceryList. Listonic helps me to manage all my list of things to buy. The share list option is really very helpful and makes my job easier. I share the list to my husband and we are always on the same page (no confusion of buying things). I really appreciate the support for many languages. SharedGroceryList is user friendly and easy to use. I strongly recommend SharedGroceryList!!!

I love how you can sort by category. I used to do that manually with my paper lists, what a pain! This sets the category for you and sorts accordingly. It definitely saves me time in the store.

I also love the ability to make your list super simple or add tons of detail as needed, from price to quantity to notes. I can actually send my husband shopping with SharedGroceryList!
