C-SPAN RADIO Reviews

I think C-span is trying to force everyone to C-span now. I have rejected that app for a few weeks but starting now it is popping up every few minutes. The C-span radio stream keeps cutting out where you have to restart it every few minutes if it will restart at all. So I gave it and downloaded the C-span Now app thinking that I would be able to listen to the Washington Journal as I have for years now with out an issue and without tying it to cable same as I listen in my car. I use to love CSPANRADIO bu if you need to put a bug in it to force us onto another platform that requires an outside paid subscription why not say that up front. If long time users of the C-span Radio app are going to be cut off from listening just be upfront about it. Don’t annoy us with intermittent cut off. Use yo love CSPANRADIO now I’m just annoyed with it.

The CSPAN Radio app is great if you like political news. It seems they have made it much more stable. It now stays connected much better, even in rural areas.

I was using a different general radio app (on iPhone). But lately that app does not like to stay connected and very often repeats words or phrases. So the C-SPAN radio app is now a better alternative.

I’m really enjoying being able to listen to this radio while having the screen off and letting it run while I do my work. But too often it crashes. It frequently pauses on its own and won’t resume unless I get back into CSPANRADIO and re-enter the stream. Other times it will just crash out of CSPANRADIO completely. It’s very frustrating and defeats the purpose of having it stream with the screen off. If that bug could be fixed, that would greatly improve the experience of CSPANRADIO .

It worked well for a few years, but the last year or so it constantly loses connection and now even completely cashes. It is extremely unstable. The C-SPAN Now app requires a cable subscription and the radio portion of it only streams the main C-SPAN radio station. The ad tech trackers may be the culprit as they make hundreds of connections to their servers and if you block them, which you should, they continuously try to make connections in the background which compromises the stream. Ugh, I am utterly disappointed in you C-SPAN and I’ll never pay for cable again! Good bye C-SPAN!

CSPANRADIO is a gem for our Republic, the government, the vital civic life, the fascinating history in all its glory and tragedy, the people, places, and institutions and everything that we build and need to frame, protect, grow, and inspire the greatest nation ever presented with fair minded and deliberative discussion and heart, needed more than ever.

Thank you to c-span for this priceless asset and place to learn and educate ourselves at a time when we drown in information and yet are starved for knowledge

I just wish C-Span would give equal time to supposed “leftish” groups, not just Big Business Societies, CATO institute ( where I cone from those guys’ caps mean Catastrophic Accident on Take Off), etc., rather than Sierra Club, Amnesty International, folks who don’t exactly hold coal to be “clean” fuel; DNC, EFF, etc.

Also: EVERY Trump Campaign Stop a’in’t worth prime time.

Still crashing after playing 1-2 minutes using current Apple OS on tablet. Sometime fixes if I restart my tablet. This doesn’t happen with any other app.
Still doesn’t have a horizontal display. This seems like a developer problem not including this feature in CSPANRADIO .
Still not available on Roku or SlingTV! I have contacted both providers, but still waiting.
Too much frustration using CSPANRADIO!

C-SPAN Radio is great to listen on my commute into work every morning. It’s a reliable way to get your news first thing in the morning and learn even more from their various podcasts. I very much appreciate all of the hard work that goes into making this public service available. Thanks C-SPAN!

Why radio only? Needs an AppleTV app!

Video I want to watch with Judge Andrew Napolitano on your website says it is not supported on my device. How about making an app that supports video as well?! Else fix your website and stop locking out mobile viewers. Thanks!

Is a great app the political news is interesting but can be dry. I also enjoy the lectures in history podcasts but the prof. Tend to be more of the liberal variety (wish there was more diversity of opinion) is rate CSPANRADIO as a whole a 4.5

I loved CSPANRADIO before the latest update, but now the stream cuts out after one minute or so and must be manually restarted in order to continue playing the content. EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING such that I no longer want to use CSPANRADIO . I hope this is fixed quickly, however, because C-Span is my source of unfiltered information about what is happening in our nation’s capital.

Great service! The best for news, BY FAR! App is a bit clunky is only issue. It disconnects a moderate amount. But even with that, this is the best news service there is!

I always go to c-span for unfiltered, unbiased coverage of real-time politics. However the playback is terrible; it constantly stops. Yesterday it was stopping literally every - ten - seconds. I gave up listening because I got tired of manually restarting playback. Is there a solution for this or is it my phone/internet/etc?

I see many reviews complaining about the same thing! This is an ongoing issue apparently back years! I use a lot of online radio apps that work. Reach out to Tunity, WBAP, TuneIn radio, almost any other radio app because they make it work. They have been doing it right all the years yours has had issues, maybe ask for help!

From Nancy Pelosi pressers to Donald Trump rallies. C-SPAN plays it fully and doesn’t censor. The hosts of the shows are very fair to both sides.

I am happy that this is available since I have unplugged from cable and without this I would not have access to c-span at all.

I love listening to the c-span channels, but CSPANRADIO frequently crashes, randomly pauses in a fashion that requires re-entering CSPANRADIO to resume. I’d mention other issues, but I read a review from 2019 that well covered the issues that motivated a response from the developer. Well …

It’s great when I’m indoors and alone but when I’m outside or around people I can’t hear what’s being said even with AirPods on highest level. Please add feature to raise in app audio volume

streaming is frequently interrupted and cant always resume (may just be network quality issues). The UI buttons dont make sense when paused or while the stream is trying to catch-up. App does not correctly resume the stream if it is interrupted by the Phone app. I would like to see the current schedule title on the home screen for each c-span stream.

Best app for keeping up to date on politics. Stream quality is top notch.

I love C-SPAN and the service they provide but CSPANRADIO is terrible. It simply doesn't work. It's skipping, jumping around and cutting out, endlessly. I often have to reload it and some channels simply don't play for a while when I know there's audio on the floor. It's just frustrating when I want to hear debate. The streaming encoding is just wrong. Thank you.

Can’t listen to cspan on iPhone app. Have deleted app and reloaded, still does not work.
