Not sure if KnitRowCounter downloaded incorrectly or what but there is absolutely no way to restart the count! There are no plus/minus buttons, anywhere you tap, it simply adds another row, how absolutely frustrating and a waste of time! I cannot imagine they designed it this way but for me, it's completely useless and I'm deleting it.
I haven’t really used KnitRowCounter , because when I opened it on my iPhone 11 to check it out I found that there is no way to EXIT KnitRowCounter ! I guess we are expected to use the home button? But the 11 does not have a home button, and swiping up (which normally takes you home) just increased the row count. I thought I was going to have to restart my phone, but I eventually escaped, I’m not even sure how.
It’s extremely frustrating that KnitRowCounter only works in landscape mode. I literally never use my phone in landscape mode, so it’s annoying to toggle between the pattern PDF and the row counter, but have the orientations be swapped. I see no reason this needs to be the way KnitRowCounter works.
I appreciate the developer making KnitRowCounter, it’s free and helpful. However, it’s way too easy to accidentally increase or decrease a row without knowing you accidentally touched the screen. Also, there doesn’t seem to be a way to start over, so if you’re on row 150 and you need to start a different section of the pattern at row 1, you have to click the screen 150 times to get back to 1. If there’s an easier way to do this, I wouldn’t know because there doesn’t seem to be any settings or help section within KnitRowCounter either. There are better row counter apps.
When I first used this on my Apple Watch, I thought it was perfect. Simple plus and minus buttons, long press to clear and start over. But the developer didn’t create a complication, so you can’t add it to a watch face! So having to navigate to KnitRowCounter each row is silly. And the interface on the iPhone is terrible. Overly confusing… swipe one way and you accidentally remove rows. Just have a plus and minus button like the watch app. Maybe worst of all though it its landscape orientation. People don’t use that regularly unless watching a video. Makes no sense that the normal way people open and hold their phone is it in portrait mode, yet KnitRowCounter is landscape, and you can *only* close KnitRowCounter by swiping from the left if holding it normally. You swipe up on landscape. Counterintuitive to literally any other app. A few tweaks would make this perfect but it falls short.
I love KnitRowCounter but I truly hate how there isn’t a “clear all” option. I’m working on a sweater and it’s super annoying to have to swipe down the 80 or so stitches instead of just hitting a “clear all” type of thing. Please make this!!!!
I like being able to easily count my rows or stitches, however there isn’t an easy way to clean the numbers. You have to swipe until they’re clear. That’s a pain when you’re counting over 100 stitches.
I would love to have a way to reset it to zero without swiping every number back to zero and a way to lock it so I can’t inadvertently mess up my count. Other than that I love it’s simplicity and I use it A LOT and have been for well over a year.
I do like the simplicity of KnitRowCounter and that I can use it on my watch, which makes life so much easier.
However like others have said I’d like to have a way to reset without tapping. It would be nice to have a way to lock the count to prevent accidents.
I love the Apple Watch capability but I can’t find a complication for it to place it on a watch face. When using it on iphone, I wish it worked both landscape and portrait. I end up subtracting a switch when I try to switch away from the open app because I have my phone in a portrait style holder.
Very nice app! Does what is advertised and is just what i need! But it needs a dark mode!! My eyes are very sensitive to blue light and it gives me a headache having that bright screen in the corner of my eye. Again, amazing app!! Just needs a dark mode. I'm sure other agree too! :3
I truly enjoy using KnitRowCounter. I have been able to keep count of my rows and it is super convenient. The only thing I wish it had was a full “clear” button. Swiping out after multiple many rows is a bit tedious.
I have to agree with the other reviewer here. KnitRowCounter is nice and simple, works well. A complication to add it to the Home Screen would be really helpful. I have to reopen KnitRowCounter for every row….
Not sure why other reviews say there isn't a reset function. Hard press/force touch and KnitRowCounter will ask if you'd like to reset the counter. Easy as pie. :)
Otherwise: Practical, simple, intuitive, reliable, well-designed, convenient, and free. One of my most used apps!
This is the productivity app I use most often. It’s the only row counter that works with the Apple Watch. If you knit or crochet, and own an Apple Watch, this is a “must have” app! No more stopping to find paper or a device to mark down the completion of your row. Just a tap on your wrist does it. It’s free now but I would happily pay $4.99 for it if it would work with Siri!
Super simple. No frills. Love it. The only thing I wish is that there were an instructions page in KnitRowCounter itself - it took awhile before I realized that a long press cleared it.
I wanted something simple and uncomplicated to keep track of rows. This does the job and I can see the number from a distance without needing a magnifying glass. I’m very happy with it.
So many other knitting apps are confusing and hard to program. This is SIMPLE finish a row, tap the screen DONE! I wouldn’t change a thing. Sometimes simple is best.
The simplicity of KnitRowCounter is beautiful. Just tap to add a row, swipe to take it away. It uses notifications to show you what row you're on and you can even add it to the notification bar as a widget.
THANK YOU!
(Needs to be updated for iOS 10 based on the new locations for widgets. You are no longer able to swipe on the widget to remove rows. Still a wonderful app!!)
KnitRowCounter is everything I wanted it to be. Well designed and easy to use.
An awesome future dev goal would be to allow multiple counters (that could be named or color coded) for tracking several projects at once.
