Missing brands

This seems to be the Leaping Bunny app, leaping bunny lists brands that are APPROVED by THEM. They don't list all cruelty free brands. It won't list brands that haven't partnered with Leaping Bunny and paid to be listed on their site. I'd rather have an app that lists all the CF brands.

Camera Issues

The scanner never works because every time I open it the camera is never in focus so I can’t scan any products. Hope this gets fixed eventually!

Doesn’t read ANY label

Everything I scanned came up as unknown including big name brand stuff like triscuits and DAIYA cheese even. Also scanned Pacifica dash wash and dermalogica lotion and none of it was found. CrueltyFreeShoppingGuide could be insanely useful but it doesn’t work.

I'm not impressed

The only thing good so far is that CrueltyFreeShoppingGuide is for a positive purpose. It needs worked on when I try to type in a brand it crashes. I also seen there is different products but still lacks many other products. I think Cruelty-Cutter is a better app. I'm deleting this until it is fixed!

Great idea, awful execution

I’d love to be able to use this to more easily find and support cruelty-free brands but CrueltyFreeShoppingGuide is old school and awful. The scanner doesn’t work at all and the search is very clunky, let alone A LOT of super common brands aren’t even listed one way or the other.

Doesn’t have any brands!

I LOVE the idea of CrueltyFreeShoppingGuide, but I scanned almost every item in my bathroom and it couldn’t find any of the brands. I don’t even use “unique” brands, everything I own I buy at Target. So I don’t get how CrueltyFreeShoppingGuide doesn’t have information on any of them?

Needs improvement

I scanned some stuff from our medicine cabinet to see if they tested on a animals, (NyQuil, Bandaid etc)and it couldn’t find them.

Crashes

Lately CrueltyFreeShoppingGuide has been crashing every time I try to do a search. Please fix this.

Great concept, poor execution

I was told about CrueltyFreeShoppingGuide and love the concept, but so many brands I know some that even sport the bunny logo don’t appear in CrueltyFreeShoppingGuide . For example Tarte, Pureology, Too Faced, NYX, Becca. Pureology is a vegan brand and company. Tarte actually carries the bunny logo!

Limited

Products are limited. Hard to find men’s products without sorting through female products.

Does not have enough brands

I love the idea of having CrueltyFreeShoppingGuide while shopping and especially appreciate the scan feature. However, there are many brands not included in the database.

Concept is nice, but needs improvement.

I understand that they are choosing to only do the bunny certified brands, but there are a lot more companies out there that are cruelty feee that I use. I don’t use anything not vegan, and none of my products showed up in the scan. I even searched for them and they came up there, but I had to go on a search. My yesto brand is a brand I own a lot of, and it’s on the list, but wouldn’t show up when I scanned any of my products. There needs to be major improvements on CrueltyFreeShoppingGuide. I really like the general idea behind it, but it’s not going to be something I use. Its easier to just look on products for that bunny than to use CrueltyFreeShoppingGuide.

No products seem to scan

I’ve decided to remove CrueltyFreeShoppingGuide and try Cruelty Cutter, because I’ve yet to scan a product and have it come up in CrueltyFreeShoppingGuide. There are lots of smaller, new brands that I have since researched to be cruelty free, but they were not identified in CrueltyFreeShoppingGuide . It’s kind of useless.

Database is Lacking Information

After seeing CrueltyFreeShoppingGuide advertised to a Dodo video I downloaded to see if its claims were true. I like the idea of being able to seeing if the products I was purchasing were cruelty free. To test CrueltyFreeShoppingGuide I went to my bathroom and started scanning. Not a single item I scanned was in the database.

I like the usability of app. It has potential.

App closes when I try to search

When I access Products and search, CrueltyFreeShoppingGuide shuts down after I enter a few characters. Otherwise I like CrueltyFreeShoppingGuide .

Missing Brands That Are On Website

So I wanted to try CrueltyFreeShoppingGuide since I’m always going to the leaping bunny website. The brand HASK is listed on the website but isn’t listed on CrueltyFreeShoppingGuide . I’m confused, so is it or is it not cruelty free?

Some features don’t work.

App force closes with iOS 11 whenever I attempt to search for a brand. I get about 4-5 letters typed in and it just closes. Very annoying. Made me have to switch to a different app serving a similar “cruelty-free finder” purpose so I can search for stuff. Still worth downloading if you just need to browse instead of search.

Okay but...

While I Iove the idea and effort so far, there are some big things still missing.

First, I agree completely that parent companies need to be considered. I do believe that choosing to support the cruelty-free product line in a company with both options is will help send those companies a message, but some of us would rather support companies that are 100% cruelty-free. Also, I feel it's important for people to have the full story in order to make those informed decisions.

Secondly, the site is lacking in many ways from a purely functional point of view...
1. Better descriptions and perhaps some photos for companies listed would be helpful.
2. More detailed info about each company's ethics seems important as well. For ex: some companies focus more on sustainability of product sourcing, some on fair trade, others on organics, animal testing, etc. I'd like to know more specifics on WHY a particular company made the cut. This could be solved with something as simple as a key or legend.
3. Finally, I'd like consumers to have the ability to leave ratings, remarks, feedback, personal experiences, etc about individual companies or products. This would allow for dispersal of greater overall knowledge and could help consumers AND companies alike!

Thanks for the work so far, and keep the updates coming!

Great idea, glad they have an app!!

I am so happy to start buying cruelty free items from now on. I am glad that there is an app like this to look up organizations that are legitimately cruelty free and certified as such because it is so difficult to actually know whether a product is actually cruelty free, because lots of products say they are and they aren’t! Have to give it five stars for helping the animals and it’s free. Thank you :)

Excellent App

I love CrueltyFreeShoppingGuide. It has all of the products I use listed and it has helped me find products also. The low reviews seem to come from people that do not understand the Leaping Bunny cert. and they're not realizing not all non-animal testing certs are the same. Leaping Bunny is the only
one I trust.
