Since it’s 8k now it’s screen size is made smaller which makes the buttons impossible to use

Earth3D has good graphics but, you'll never really use it much. It was fun for about 20 seconds, then, it was boring and it just took up space on my iPod. It shows the moon and the sun and how he continents would look like if they where in their night positions and day positions. Like I said earlier, it's not very useful and gets boring quickly. Plus, there are no extra features.

As of this review, Earth3D is eye candy only. Play with it a few minutes. Show it to your friends.. As most reviewers are saying, after the thrill is over, it's not worth keeping around. It could be so much better with some added functionality - realtime moon and sun positions, realtime weather mapping. This would make it worth keeping and opening frequently.

My first critique is why not make this functional and actually show what cross section of the world the sun is actually iluminated. It can have a margin of error of a couple degrees, but that would be more impressive and doable... It would take the calendar day and universal time and then illuminate it's not so hard u already did the hard part the 3d animation... You just need to render more instances of the animation....

I think something that would make Earth3D truly amazing is if you could fly through space to other planets. That's just an idea but that would be very cool. And on top of that if you could click on different stuff and information would pop up about what you had selected.

Interesting, briefly.... But could be developed into something totally interesting, maybe even worth a buck, if it were more interactive & informative. Ideas: ability to accurately control relationship of earth/sun/moon by entering date & time; add horizontal axis to spin globe up & down; also replace moon surface with something more realistic. Must say, i do like the earth model with shifting clouds. Thanks for sharing!

This is a pretty good app and it's free!!! Hey people that are saying it's pointless, it told you in the description what it did. Besides it's made for just looking at, the graphics are really good and rotating is cool. It would be even better if it was real time and there's more things to look at, but overall it's a good app.

Great to look at and show off. Would be cool to have a zoom feature but even better to reflect the rotation and weather system of the current state of the world. With that feature, it would be an App worth paying for regardless of it currently being free.

Very cool graphics, u can see the atmosphere and what I thought was pretty cool was that u can see the lights on the countries on the darkside of the earth. But I really wish there was more to it, it just rotates around the earth while it spins on it's axis and the moon revolves around the earth too. U can also see the sun in the distant. Very cool app.

If people read what an application is about before they download it, then we won't be seeing reviews on how Earth3D is a waste of time.

The posting of Earth3D says exactly what it does (that is, that is a simple application of the earth rotating on 3D).

Earth3D is getting 1 or 2 stars just because a person downloaded it and find it useless? Geez! I submit those ratings if problems arise or something wasn't stated in the description correctly or if they were vague.

This is really a great app, heck, it's free. The 3D graphics are cool & high quality. The ability to move forward & backward, as well as set a stationary orbit & watch us spin & select position around the globe. Like the sun too. They didn't settle on a solid disc, but a realistic image of the sun.

From the many suggestions, clearly there is a market for a paid version too.

Yes I think it would be that more neat had it shown the real time but the point of Earth3D was entertainment and that's it so far, so no it doesn't turn your Iwhatever into a cheese greater you can use on a daily bassses but of does look real nice.

Love this but I would love to see it updated and function as a proper orerry! If it ran in real time and allowed user to then manipulate the view it would be a great tool and a beautiful functioning scientifoc device! I think u could charge fir it! :) I bought another app today (can't recall it's name sorry) but it has five astronomical correct watches that are great! Can I suggest you guys hook up to update yours or adjunct theirs!? :) they have the function and you have the beauty! Just a thought!? In any case, please consider making your app a proper orerry! In the meantime, fantastic!

The delicate cloak of atmosphere around the globe suspended there in space really drives home how fragile this creation called Earth really is. I am one of about 14,000 attendees at a geographic information systems (GIS) conference this week in San Diego, so this was the perfect week to discover your excellent work. Kudos, kudos, whether you add to this or not. Sometihes less is more.

A really neat globe with the sun and moon. What would be really cool is if the locations of the two where real time so you could approximate time of day or phase of the moon. It would also be near to be able to scale it at least a little and be able to disable the automatic roation. Great job.

My 4 year old son is amazed by this simple app. Could there be any better way to help him visualize something so big? I think not. We all forget that perspective is everything. He is discovering the world in way I only could imagine in my youth. Children are AMAZING!

I don't think people are being fair with the reviews. I like this. Free and doesn't crash the iPhone should get anyone 3 stars at least. Add a star for the fact that it looks cool and another for the fact that the person was upfront with the simplicity to begin with.

I showed it to my daughter and it was very easy to demonstrate a couple quick astronomy ideas to her. It demonstrates the way that the earth rotates around the sun, how the sun "rises and falls", how an eclipse happens, and how the moon appears crescent one day and full another.

All it is, is the earth slowly revolving around the sun, with the moon. I love it! You can speed it up a bit, and no, its not an accurate time look. I like to think that it starts off that way, but after you let it spin awhile, or speed up the process, it changes light and 'time'.
I got it just cause it was free and i was excited about my new iphone, but weirdly, its so so so so calming, and Im the type thats bored easily and I can watch this for awhile. Its great graphics. I like watching while having music playing at the same time. Hope you enjoy!

I can't believe how many people are complaining about Earth3D. What a great job done on this one. It's perfect for setting my iPod touch in the dock and turning this on when I'm not using the device - kind of like a screen saver. This is a free app, and it does exactly what it says - nothing more (and nothing more is needed!)
Thanks so much Nic for such a great job - you fulfilled my desire for a kind of "screen saver" for my iPod touch, and gave a beautiful creation in the process. For all those who want to complain about something that they received freely and who did not lose one drop of sweat to have such a great addition to their iPhone or iPod touch, get a life!

well I say it's a amazing app. showing that the iphone/iPod touch have the power to render 3D graphics...
I don't see the zune,cellphone,or mp3 player that can do this currently.

and you need to read the description!!! it clearly says what the program does...
