Corporate Greed

2024-06-30

After having SplashID corrupt my data not once, but twice after an update, I stopped updating. I’ve been using it for a number of years. Then in a moment of weakness, I allowed it to update. Now I can no longer back up my phone to my desktop machine. SplashData will only let me do that if I pay them rent. They call it a subscription, but it’s software rental. Oh sure, they’ll give me a discount, and even let me pay them a one-time fee to keep using it, but the point is that I already paid for it and I refuse to pay their extortion just to use software I already own.

If you’re thinking about renting SplashIDSafePasswordManager, be very aware that this is a company with no scruples and no respect for their customers. Having screwed over their customers once, they will have no qualms about doing it again. You’re likely to open SlashID one day to find a pop up telling you that if you want to use it, you’ll have to cough up some more money. In my experience, that’s exactly how they operate.

App crashes ALL THE TIME

2024-01-10

I have had SplashIDSafePasswordManager since the beginning. I had SplashIDSafePasswordManager on my palm pilot. I now have an iPhone and MAC, and it crashes all the time! I’ve lost count how many time it crashes on a given day when I’m trying to access it. On my phone the icons do not match up with the correct types like they do on the desktop app. If for any reason I’m not in an area with data I can not access SplashIDSafePasswordManager . They have pushed everyone to an web based SplashID which I’m against but was forced into. Apps are the future why waste time with creating a web based feature? It’s difficult to export all my data since they have the file in a format that’s not easy for other password applications to read, otherwise I would have already abandoned SplashIDSafePasswordManager. The customer support is a joke! They like to blame you for your ignorance. There is no phone number it’s only an email that you have to wait around for a day or two, if you’re lucky, to have some kind of assistance. Had a friend looking for a password keeper app, couldn’t recommend SplashIDSafePasswordManager at all. In fact STAY AWAY from it!

Crash. Data gone. Terrible support.

2024-02-19

I have the lifetime subscription. Recently, SplashIDSafePasswordManager wouldn’t open. It wouldn’t recognize my password. I emailed support and it took forever for them to respond. Their help was nearly nonexistent, or inane. Soon their email responses took longer and longer to be returned, like up to a week or more. Eventually, when I simply asked them directly for technical support to help me open SplashIDSafePasswordManager , their responses ceased, and after continual emails I never got another response. Today, an update for SplashIDSafePasswordManager became available so I downloaded it and updated SplashIDSafePasswordManager . I was very excited after I put in my password and SplashIDSafePasswordManager to opened up. However, I soon realized that although SplashIDSafePasswordManager would reopen, 100% of my data was gone!!! What I have learned is not to trust important data to a program like this that doesn’t have a company behind it that has sufficient technical experience, a competent support organization, and the marketing desire to help a customer, rather than simply hide when their product doesn’t work. My advice? Just stay away.

Get with the program SplashId team!!!

Location has been around for a number of years. If you end up forgetting your password, you’re pretty much hosed. these guys cannot reset your password. The only way you can get back to the application is by resetting your account and you would lose all your password files. that doesn’t sound right. Add insult to injury the customer service person whose last name is Filipov is the only one manning emails. This this company appears to be a one-man operation. There’s no direct customer service line to return to in an emergency. It takes customer service past 24 hours to respond. When someone cannot get into their password manager that to me is 911 because it could be any number of very important situations like accessing financial based accounts, the bottom line is, I would not recommend this software, nor this company as a whole, take caution if you are considering to go with them.

Find something else

2024-05-23

I’ve been using SplashIDSafePasswordManager since it first came out. I have nothing but issues. Sometimes all the text turns to foreign characters. You have to close SplashIDSafePasswordManager and log back in. When selecting a category for your entry if you do not fill out all the fields those go away and you cannot return to the record to fill in those fields. You have to create an entirely new record. When you change the icon image to something different, SplashIDSafePasswordManager decides to change it back to something different. I can go on and on about issues. The only reason I still use it with all the problems is because my accounts haven’t been hacked YET and I paid for a lifetime subscription. There are a lot of better apps out there but not very affordable so I’m stuck here. I certainly wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, however.

Great App Unless Used on iPhone or iPad

2024-05-03

Even though I purchased a lifetime pass, I can no longer recommend SplashIDSafePasswordManager. While it works great on my Windows desktop, it continuously rearranges fields and symbols in individual records (seemingly at random). I’ve submitted multiple technical support reports over the past couple of years, which have never been resolved. I’ve noticed I am not alone in experiencing this issue, as an Internet search quickly shows many instances of this type of problem. A workaround is to have every record with identically named fields and use the same logo for all of the records. This way, SplashIDSafePasswordManager will not rearrange field names (and I’ve never had an issue where the content of the fields has been revised). Unfortunately, this means you cannot customize individual records. Sadly, I will need to migrate my records over to another app and start paying again, but the current situation is no longer tenable.

Meh

2024-05-03

I mean I use this everyday but there has to be a better app. Biggest issue is the risk of jumbling and loss of your data. The main way this seems to occur is if you are in the middle of editing a password file and don’t save it by clicking save, if SplashIDSafePasswordManager closes due to an auto lock in the middle of your edit, the entire password file you are working on gets encrypted and your data is lost! It’s there but jumbled and useless. So use this at your risk. You just need to get used to saving quickly. Also, the change icon function seems to not work anymore. You can select edit the icon and select a new icon but then there is no way to actually save it it appears. At least in current version. Also all my fields were encrypted sometime back somehow and replaced with encrypted gibberish and there seems to be no way to fix this so I just live with it. Not sure why I don’t change apps. I guess the developers don’t use their own app. Wonder what they use....

Declining Support

2024-08-31

I’ve used this product for years with relative success although it can be kinda clumsy at times. I have had the cloud sync before but I’m more hesitant to continue seeing all the hacks that happen on a regular basis. I always seem to get the emails asking and frankly pushing me to signup for cloud sync but since the iOS 11 update, my application will not allow me to add or edit any records whatsoever. I’ve written several times and hoping to see some kind of update so I can get into my password keeper. It would be nice if you guys could keep us up to date as to what’s happening and when we can expect to see a fix for snow broken application!! So for now, I will not be buying you cloud sync option or multiple device option you keep pushing my way. At least not until you fix your software.

What happened?

2024-08-31

I have had SplashIDSafePasswordManager for many years. It has always worked seemingly well. I have it on my iPhone, iPad, and MacBook. Syncing never seem to be a problem and my passwords were never lost. Just recently, maybe two weeks ago, I did the upgrade. Since then, every time I go to sync between my MacBook and my iPhone or iPad, the MacBook version crashes. I contacted support in after going back-and-forth a few times, I felt like they gave me steps that would fix the problem. I did the steps, and it was able to sync a handful of times as I got my passwords back in order. But later that night, I went to sync again and the crashing started again. SplashIDSafePasswordManager is now useless to me if I can’t sync. What did you guys do? I’ve been with you for years (maybe 10???) and have never seen anything like this.

Deteriorated systems and insulting customer support

2024-01-28

I’ve used SplashID since it’s go live on Palm Pilot devices, transitioned to App Store applications and desktop syncing across apple devices. Once it was so reliable, I didn’t question its system integrity. Recent significant difficulties with syncing, complete loss of data on one device and poor customer support have resulted in abandoning this platform. Challenges with upgrades to work with new OS are understood in this day for some applications. They create work-arounds for failed syncing processes that do not work. However, the insulting and condescending customer support, who uses all caps and tells us we aren’t following directions, while they direct us to their own bulletins admitting failures, gives us no choice but to choose another program. I had no faith anyone was supervising their language and poor service.

Great app in every area .. but ..

2024-07-13

My family and I have been using SplashIDSafePasswordManager for nearly twenty years, since the PDA days. It has always done what it’s suppose to do well; however, Splash has struggled to modernize with the times. Why am I giving it two stars? It suffers from some bugs that have existed for YEARS! The most annoying bug(s) being ..

There is a chance when I load my vault from a different device and cloud sync, that data field labels will change, custom icons get shifted around and other wacko things happen in a completely indescriminate and intermittent fashion. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn’t. While no data is lost, it’s BEYOND irritating to have to go through each record and make sure the icons and fields are set where they should be, especially when one may not necessarily remeber what the field label is suppose to be for a particular string. Why would I forget?? Well.. BECAUSE THE FIELD IS SUPPOSE TO REMAIN LABELED!

It has been a great run Splash, but, fix these problems or I’m finding another password manager come time for my subscription renewal.

Great, except when it isn’t

2024-12-13

I have used SplashIDSafePasswordManager for years and, like many others, it is my go-to app to store a lot of confidential info. Overall I like SplashIDSafePasswordManager , but there has been an ongoing issue with off-grid access. While I understand that it is desirable to sync the device with the cloud so that entries are updated when you have internet, it is not essential. What IS essential…and critical…is getting access to my data whenever and wherever I may be, which includes those times and places where internet isn’t available. Without internet, SplashIDSafePasswordManager crashes. NOT GOOD! I don’t understand why this has continued to be a problem for a very long time, but we would really appreciate it if this issue can be fixed. Thanks!!

Looking for a better password management

2024-01-28

I have been using this for more than 10 years. In general it works until you have no internet then you won't even able to open SplashIDSafePasswordManager even though I disabled the cloud sync (only want to use this w/o the cloud). This problem makes me think that the SplashID will still store the data in the cloud, regardless the user preference.

Another problem is wifi synchronization. I have lots of issue eapecially if I want to re-write back to my iOS device. Checked everything and only works with my older (iphone 11) but did not work with my iphone 12.

Another problem happens when I delete a record. Nine out of ten SplashIDSafePasswordManager simply "hangs" after I deleted ONE record. The only solution is to kill SplashIDSafePasswordManager then re-opened for re-sign which is pretty annoying.

Also another occasional problem happens after I sign-in. The records were displayed randomly vs alphabetically. The situation makes it much harder to find a record thus I have to kill SplashIDSafePasswordManager then re-login.

It feels that SplashIDSafePasswordManager is aging, maybe not many developer assigned to fix these bugs anymore so overall it is quite disappointing.

Klutzy but ...

2024-02-29

I've been using Splash ID forever. I'm migrating passwords to Apple Keychain but I keep Splash ID because I love redundancy -- it's my "backup" safe password vault plus it has tons of space for NOTES which I use a lot to document various items.

I also keep info on other items that don't have any passwords associated w/ them e.g. Social security numbers for family members; Tax ID numbers for various business and non profits I'm associated with; Driver's License number; library card number, I don't believe Apple Keychain can accommodate this.

Definitely klutzy to use. I find the documentation are to find BUT I do find the company responsive when I send a request for help. So that's nice!

Great App

2024-06-29

I have been using this for many years. I started using it with my Palm Pilot and I continue with it till now. For the most part, I have had very little problems. It is my go to app. I use there backup and the windows version.

All there have been few problems there was a major problem over 5 years ago that still haunts me which is why I only gave it get 4 stars.

The story happened when as I went to use the backup over 5 years ago as a problem happened with the version on my devise became bad. I found all of backup data was corrupted and customer service refused to help or take responsibility for the problem. I lost most everything. Luckily I had a very old copy on my computer that I had from before it went to the web. It took a long time to fix all of the data.

The app is integral to every day of my life

2024-05-27

I have been using this program for several years on 4 different devices not including using the website as my back up access. I have been using the cloud sync and think I have only had one problem syncing and it turned out to be my fault. This application is an integral of my entire life. I can keep track of alimony every pierce is data. I use custom passwords for everything. Everything I access needs SplashID open for me to access my data sources. The program is stable, for me, and I can always access my data. Every now and then there is a little glitch that a quick restart of SplashIDSafePasswordManager won’t solve. Other password managers try to be too cute in their implementation and are too integrated into your web browser experience. SplashID gives me a stand-alone database of all my life records accessible at a moments need. My only complaint is speed of accessing customer support and the subscription management seems to have some glitches. But I have always been able to solve the issue with their help.

Changed my review from 1 to 4 stars

2024-07-26

[Update: After hours of diagnosing and research, I found that my network profile in Windows 10 changed from private to public, which blocked the desktop program from accepting a connection from SplashIDSafePasswordManager on my phone. Merely turning off the firewall did not solve the problem. Verifying that your network profile is private in Win10 should be on the troubleshooting steps. Once I did this, everything sync-ed and my data was back.] I’ve been a long time proponent of SplashID (I have records from at least 2009) and influenced its purchase for a number of people. Unfortunately, the developer’s drive for cloud revenue weakens the WiFi support. Ensuring SplashIDSafePasswordManager is open, the WiFi is on and subnets are the same only takes a user so far. My iPhone X SplashID data disappeared today during a sync.

quirk to fix

2024-06-29

quirk to fix 2022nov30 the trash button has probably been in the lower right forever but over the past year I have fat-fingered the delete button at least three times. Thank goodness for backups but a UI change either moving the button or requiring a
more effective delete confirmation process would eliminate one annoyance. With the current setup my brain and finger generally are in the process of closing SplashIDSafePasswordManager when I accidentally touch the trash icon, then the delete confirmation pops up, and I inadvertently accept deletion while closing SplashIDSafePasswordManager .

still on again upd2021 successfully migrated my data to a new pc thankU devs! on again 2020 Splash- I have a love-hate relationship with you. From deleting my data on one end (good thing I make backups) to supporting "offline" sync on the other you've driven me crazy over the years. I'm still with you- because I've gotten accustomed to your quirks. Here's to hoping you'll become more fanatical with your unit testing (especially with respect to not repeating historical issues before your next release).

Great app, confusing pricing

2024-06-15

I have been using SplashIDSafePasswordManager for nearly 12 years and it works great. I have had NO functional problems.
However, subscription service is wacky. I have purchased the lifetime support twice yet I still get billed annually???
I finally decided to just pay the $20/year and be appreciative that it works so well.
I think most of us just need a relatively simple and effective place to store sensitive data. All the bells and whistles are not terribly useful.
I wish they would offer a lower priced annual service without any feature upgrades, just guaranteed to work on each iOS version. That way there is guaranteed revenue for developer and guaranteed stability for consumer - win-win fir everyone!

Great product and great tech support

2024-09-17

I have been using SplashID for many years and that alone is a big deal. So often apps come and go or change drastically, but SplashID has been around many years and that is important with an app to manage critical confidential information. They have evolved SplashIDSafePasswordManager over time in a very good way - they add new features but they don’t require you to make big changes in your use if you don’t want to, but the features are there if you want them. I did have a problem one time when I opened SplashIDSafePasswordManager and my data had gotten corrupted and I couldn’t read any of it. I contacted them and their tech support was excellent. They were so detailed and careful as they walked me through the steps - testing things, looking for the issue, and then getting me up and running from and automatic backup. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by their excellent tech support. I have been using SplashID probably since version 1 or 2 and I have been very happy with SplashIDSafePasswordManager since the beginning.

Does More Than Keep Passwords but it does that well!

2024-08-31

I have used SplashIDSafePasswordManager for many years. The keeps getting better and is a solid performer. There may other apps that “look” better but I can’t find one that is better in features and performance. The ability to customize categories and type, along with having plenty of customizable fields, attachments (don’t underestimate this feature) plus notes. With all of this it becomes the place where you can keep more than just passwords but all important critical info.

SplashIDSafePasswordManager performs. I don’t experience crashes and I access across a variety of platforms.

SplashId

2024-07-22

I’m a very longtime SplashID user and have always liked SplashIDSafePasswordManager . My only complaint is that sometimes the items I’ve put in the Field description, have either disappeared or changed to another type of account. The data below each field is still there, but the Field info I previously entered and saved such as “Password” or “URL” gets deleted or changed.

However, until recently, I only used SplashIDSafePasswordManager . on my iPhone 11 locally, with the daily Apple iCloud backup, but now I just changed to SplashID Cloud backup on my new iPhone 14 and sync it with the desktop version. This works much better and the desktop version allowed me to delete a large number of double or non-used icons.

I’ll continue to be a “Lifetime” user of SplashIDSafePasswordManager.

Great App!

2024-10-17

I have used SplashIDSafePasswordManager all the way back to my Palm Pilot/Treo days way before the iPhone and the concept of ‘smart phones’. And I have used it from the very first iPhone. Yes, that long. It has always been my go to password manager app. Has it had some issues along the way? Sure, what sw doesn’t. Have they always been resolved? Yes! I am a Lifetime Pro user. I synchronize over the cloud (which is certainly a vast improvement over syncing multiple devices to a master list on one device. That always had the chance of creating dupes). As of the last several years, it has run flawlessly across 5 devices with only the occasional glitch that required a quick reboot of SplashIDSafePasswordManager (such as the records displaying as gibberish or the icons not matching up). I am bummed that I can’t use face recognition with my new Xs Max and did need to delete and re-install SplashIDSafePasswordManager . But that took a matter of minutes with the restore even faster. I know and trust that SplashData will get it resolved. This tool simply just works, which is what I want most out of any technology.

Update: Splash Data has provided an upgrade that solves the Face Unlock bug. All good.

Great app I pass on to Apple Advisors

2024-10-17

This is a fantastic app that I tell everyone about, even Apple Advisors, because I feel it is so much more secure then the Apple Keychain for saving passwords. But not only can you save passwords on Splashid, but banking, credit card information, car insurance, VINs and so much more. Anything, I mean ANYTHING you feel is important enough for you to save, you can save it on Splashid. From A to Z, all you have to do is add the information as a record or a category, and since the list is never ending you can keep on saving.
I’m the first one to admit that the amount of information that I know about computers or any other smart tech thing, could fill a cavity in an ant’s tooth. ( Notice I’m spelling an insect here, not a sister of one of your parents ) But with an application like Splashid around you can still survive as a grain of sand against the mighty waves on a beach.
Buy it. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

Great product + honest customer service

2024-10-08

I’ve been using SplashID Safe on multiple devices for several years and have been very pleased with the product. Life is full for all of us and this certainly makes things easier! What really impressed me recently is their customer service… they identified that I had accidentally been paying for an annual subscription even though I had purchased a lifetime subscription several years ago. Without prompting, they refunded all the fees and corrected the situation. I probably would not have known about the overpayment and believe this shows a lot of integrity on their part for identifying and rectifying the situation. I definitely recommend simplifying your life with this product!

Best Password App Out There

2025-11-09

I’ve used SplashID since the Palm II days and I’m still using both the iPhone and Windows versions. I love the way it works and how I can change icons and fields, mask or unmask, and keep many kinds of info from passwords to flyer numbers to serial numbers or credit cards. I use the wireless sync between my iPhone and desktop to keep it synced and backed up.

I’ve had family members try other apps but they seem more awkward and less friendly to use so I switched them to SplashID and they are happy. Count me as very satisfied. 5-stars.

I’ve had a couple of hiccups here and there but it’s always been fixed. I can’t understand the people who have crashes because mine has been highly reliable. When I had an issue with my subscription it took one email and they quickly updated my account.
