External drive content missing

Not sure the best way to reach the developer. I keep all my content on external drives. If that drive is ejected and remounted when needed, which is my normal practice, this app no longer sees any of the content of that drive. It still recognizes the file source and all the Meta Data from the content but it errors - Loading failed, please check the permission, network and connection information. Re-add does not work but I wouldn’t want to do that each time anyway. BTW Infuse does not have the problem. It sees the drives and appears to rescan them. Update to response: This solution does not work for me. For now I’ve stop using VidHub as it has limited use in my case. I’ve been in contact with the developer and hope to see a fix in an update.

Can this replace Infuse?

I just tested out Infuse but found the pro version seems to be required to play Dolby/dts. Someone recommended VidHub. I loaded 2 media servers like I did on Infuse. Maybe I’m missing something but infuse combined my 2 media servers so I can see and search all content on both from one screen. VidHub seems to require me to open each server just as if I were opening the native app. Not sure what benefit this provides. I did notice Dolby/dts streams did play on this whereas infuse required paying for pro version.

AppleTV Sync Issue

Great video player overall, and great metadata features and organization. However, I have tried literally everything and cannot get my files to sync to my Apple TV. I’ve signed in and out multiple times both on my iPhone and Apple TV, deleted and reinstalled VidHub , and re-added my Google Drive storage space. Still, nothing has worked to get my Google Drive file source to sync to my Apple TV. Is there a current problem with the Google Drive file source, or do I need to backup my files and re-add my Google Drive storage again?

Works really well. Only one major problem.

VidHub overall does a great job organizing tv and movie files and such from my cloud drives. And I especially love the feature that groups movies together as a single series.

The only major issue I have is that it uses the TMDB api to sort episodes, and to put it frankly, a lot of that information is inaccurate and causes certain files I have to get mismatched.

For example for the 80s transformers show, TMDB doesn’t count the three part premiere as part of the series even though everyone else does, so those get draped over episodes that happen three episodes later.

Or two part episodes, despite airing on the same day, are treated as two separate episodes causing a different episode to apply to part two.

Or the wrong airing dates will be used so episodes will be out of order.

If they used a different API like the one from IMDb that would be so much better as that information is accurate and matches how everyone usually organizes the episodes of shows.

Powerful player

Infuse support for jellyfin has gotten so bad that I had to find something else. this app is awesome for that, very fast and snappy interacting with the media server, and I love how feature rich the player is - some stuff like the hold to speed up is genuinely progress and brilliant. The most glaring missing feature is picture in picture on iPad, but you can still play videos in the background audio only. Personally I’d like the option to default to my media server since I only use that and no SMB shares, would save a few clicks on startup. Will definitely do 5 stars if PiP is added. And please don’t remove any of the nerdy features in the player like bitrate and screenshot button to be more “user friendly”, it’s so awesome how it is and plenty intuitive.

It has the bones ......

It just seems there needs to be certain tweaks to makes this as good as it could and most likely will be, The features are there its whether they are easily access or in in appropriate spots. It did feel a lillte clunky during the onboard of my media library but once things were loaded started to run more smoothly. If you have OmnilPlayer Pro this is like the Parents of that and Omni went out on his own solo career because he was like dad... Im a player you organize and play pretty well --- but playa's gotta play" Omni Pro said it, i didnt :)

Vietnamese subtitle font issue (Pro user feedback 💖)

Hi team! First of all, thank you for the lovely app — I enjoy using it a lot and even upgraded to Pro to support you! 🥰

I just wanted to share a small issue I encountered with Vietnamese subtitles. The font used causes some characters (especially those with multiple diacritics like “ắ”, “ẩ”, etc.) to appear uneven — some letters look unusually big or small, which makes the subtitles a bit distracting to read.

The encoding seems fine, but it looks like the current font doesn’t handle Vietnamese diacritics very well in terms of rendering size. It would be amazing if you could switch to a more universal font or even better — give us an option to choose or add our own subtitle fonts!

Thank you so much and keep up the awesome work! 💕

Better..

I like new pip feature but prefer previous design. Was stylish & sleek; new interface seems focused on accessibility with big buttons.

Feature request: on TV, ability to add files for local playback & play the files on loop or “repeat”, while randomized or “shuffled”. VLC on TV allows this, it’s easy to start a server on TV, access the webpage, & import videos. VLC app playback on TV is not stable, crashes.

Good player - half-baked UI

It's a good player really. It seems to play everything well and the interface is generally really clean. This will probably sound like I'm picking nits, but there are a lot of things in the interface that just don't seem to be well thought out:

-Movies that are part of a series get lumped together, even if you only have one file. So a single Mission Impossible movie won't be organized as "Mission Impossible 3", but rather "Mission Impossible Collection" - there's no way to disable this behavior

-If you click into a movie or show from the home menu, there's a back arrow to get you back to the home menu. The back arrow simply doesn't exist in the "View All" menus, so there's no way to get back home without the sidebar

-There's no way to stop a playing video without right-clicking. No stop or close button on the interface, just pause.

There's more, but that's the point. It's like a good piece of beta software. The nuts and bolts are all there, they just have an interface that doesn't work as well as competing products.

Great player

The completion rate is very high and the response is very prompt when adding file sources.
I have a suggestion, I hope to be able to see if each file has been played and the playback progress while browsing files in the file source. This would be very helpful, especially when I disable a folder because I don't want a folder with hundreds of files to clutter the media center.

Streaming experience is amazing!

I was initially using nPlayer for video playback from local/cloud storage. But after setting up Plex, I couldn’t use nPlayer anymore due to lack of Plex integration. I tried Infuse, but the player UI didn’t compare to how easy it was to control playback like nPlayer. this app is amazing in that it can integrate Plex, source content from local/cloud storage, and has a great player UI!

I just wish that content from Plex would load in the main ‘Media Center’ tab rather than having to go to ‘Media Server’ then selecting Plex.

Switched from nplayer

Very few complaints about this, does everything you need it to and then some. The little things make a big difference; like being able to swap between different subs and audio files on the fly without having to constantly exit and enter the UI for it, because the settings stay open as an "overlay" while you're making changes. Having the ability to show two subtitles at the same time is also great. HEVC support is great.

Doesn't have the ability switch fonts yet, but nice to see that development is active for it and new features still being rolled out

Much better than Infuse

Sad that after all these years Infuse made 0 progress while a newcomer is taking the crown from virtually all perspective. Video quality on Apple TV 4K 2nd gen is still behind Infuse. But I bought Pro to encourage further development and they are already better than Infuse virtually in all other ways (interface, speed etc). So, I am sure they will soon put Infuse to retirement.

Google Shared Drives

I regularly use this video player to watch movies and usually connect it to my Google Drive. Recently, my friends have been sharing movies with me via Google Shared Drives, but it seems I can't access them because VidHub doesn't support playback from Shared Drives. I would really appreciate it if this type of connection could be supported. Thanks!

Definitely worth it, and one addition would be nice

Hi, I’m really grateful for your time and work on VidHub. It makes streaming to my Apple TV box so easy. I was wondering if it would be possible to do like VLC, and allow there to be some form of control over the video using the Apple TV remote. At this point, you have to keep your device open and control the pausing and skipping and subtitles from your mobile device. Not sure if you can consider implementing Apple TV remote controls in the future, but if so, that would be really cool. Thanks friends

some problems should be solved.

Because it is completely free, I give it 5 stars, but there are a few problems that I hope to solve: 1, the sound will be briefly absent after pausing. 2, the playback record is often lost. 3, after watching an episode and not continuing, the playback record of the next episode won't be displayed.

unable to delete items from a removed folder

Dear developers,

Thank you for providing us with such a wonderful app.

It seems that the current version doesn't support delete the items from a removed folder (already tried with the refresh function in the settings).

Great App with Speedy Metadata Scraping

VidHub excels at rapid metadata extraction, outperforming Infuse and other apps I have previously used in terms of speed. However, it lacks one crucial feature that I highly value: the ability to read .nfo files located within a movie's folder. If this could be addressed, it would significantly enhance VidHub 's functionality for users like myself.

Great for HDR content

It’s a good alternative for Infuse and it’s definitely catching up. I love how it has the option to adjust brightness and color even for HDR, something I wish Infuse or Apple TV app can add since most hdr content looks dim and washed out on iOS devices imo. Only thing it needs is multichannel audio support then it’s perfect for me. Keep up the good work!👍

Simple amazing and affordable

The video player is really high quality. The only issue I have is the UI could be improved upon to make it more intuitive at least for the Apple TV where I primarily use VidHub. My only request is to have the ability to get transcoded video files from the Jellyfin server when it needs to transcode for a smoother video experience when the bitrate is too high.
