It is shame that Birdloverfeeder is used for the feeder. The SD card isn’t saving anything. The cloud saves files that have nothing or it says it can’t read it. I’ve never been so disappointed in an app as I am right now. This was a gift in honor of my mom who recently passed. The cloud service is expensive and does nothing. Too bad people can’t read these reviews before they buy the feeder. They would probably buy something else.

My grandmother received this smart bird feeder as a gift. Since she is not the best with technology she calls me, her grandson who works in IT, to set it up. I was able to connect the device fairly easy but within Birdloverfeeder I am unable to change any of the settings. Every time I try to change something it tells me “operation failed”. I have tried removing the device and reconnecting it. I have tried restarting the phone Birdloverfeeder was installed on. I have tried Birdloverfeeder on a different device. Nothing is working. Please do not purchase this product until the developer fixes the issues with their app.

So frustrating. I love the camera. It takes good pics and sound quality is also good, but getting it to pair was ridiculous and Birdloverfeeder won’t give any notifications or record when birds show up. I just have to keep opening Birdloverfeeder and checking. There is no chat help even though they make it look like there is… they just leave you hanging for days. I finally got an email address but support didn’t know what to do and just had me keep reconnecting and updating (even though I had just installed). Still no notifications. Returning the birdhouse, which is a shame because it would be great if Birdloverfeeder worked.

I got the feeder for Christmas and set it up. Birdloverfeeder stopped working after a few days. After attempting customer no-service I came to read the comments to see if there was anything that helped, but all I found was countless others having complaints with Birdloverfeeder too.
I decided to uninstall Birdloverfeeder and reinstall it, but with every attempt, its now required me to enter my Apple account password. That’s not going to happen. Is Birdloverfeeder spyware?
I packed up the feeder and sent it back.
Unfortunately I already paid $45 for the cloud storage I’ll never use. I gave Birdloverfeeder one star because apparently you can’t give it no stars.

This seems to have all sorts of cool features, but the complete lack of instructions and non-intuitive interface make using them next to impossible. There were instructions for set up, but many steps were left out and it was very frustrating and time consuming. Further, it appears the cloud storage function is only available only by purchase through the vendor for $45-$70'year, you can't simply use your existing Icloud or other storage. Crappy app kind of ruins what would be an awesome bird feeder. I'd give it 0 stars if I could.

I have gone on the live chat four times, and never get answered. My unit is not working properly. When I try to turn on motion detection, it says the operation failed. It does not have any of my motion. Detections saved for me to look at. The only thing I can do is go into Birdloverfeeder and click on the arrow, and then I can see a live stream, but nothing that happened in the past all of my saved motion recordings are gone.

App settings don't save. Several really many tries are required before you give up.
Goes offline for no reason at silame time every day with god WiFi signal and strong battery. No explanation on how to reset and get back online. Some days it does. Some days it doesn't. Poorly written ambiguous and bad grammar instructions.
Disappointed. Likely throwing feeder away and buying a more reliable product even if more expensive. No one cares though so whatever. Isn't that just the way things are today. Oh well.

The device takes pics on its own and saves to “History”. The memory filled up within two weeks so I no longer get pictures (unless I’m watching it live and take them on my own). It appears I should be able to clear History one by one which is tedious…yet Ive tried and the pics remain. The user guide is worthless for troubleshooting and I haven’t gotten any solid responses to the company for my inquiries. Do I need to buy a new memory card? If so, tell me! I don’t want to pay for Cloud storage.
Birdloverfeeder ’s features are not really intuitive. Instruction manual and online help is all useless.

I have looked everywhere and I have not been able to find an email or phone to contact anyone for support. I can not get my device to connect and it would really be nice to pay this kind of money for an item to have some kind of customer service

First of all took forever to pair with internet, when I finally got it to operate and camera operated in house, mounted outside, l can walk in front of camera and see myself on monitor but birds don’t come to feeder and it has been up for almost a month, has nor recorded anything and no support anywhere or How to videos. Ready for trash can….

The concept is great but the software, instructional Manuel all need serious work. This is day 4 trying to set it up. Wow of they want people to actually buy this product then take it back to the drawing board and simplify the connection and installation process. I too was a programmer and work in it and have yet to figure it out.

The user interface for Birdloverfeeder is not intuitive and the features are limited.
1) You cannot identify birds from the motion detected pictures. You can only identify them from a live feed.
2) Only still photos are recorded from motion alerts. Not video. It appears you can only manually record video?
3) Navigating Birdloverfeeder is confusing. There appears to be a global top-level interface with all the same features as the sub-level interface specific to the bird feeder. But if you try to make changes at the top level, it gives an error. I’m not even sure why this top-level configuration interface exists.
4) There are a ton of false motion alerts, even on the medium sensitivity setting. I’m talking hundreds. On low, the motion alerts never trigger. Even had a squirrel on the feeder with no alert.
5) The solar panel is on the same side as the camera. Therefore, to get sunlight on the panel, the camera must also face into the sun. I think this is what triggers the false motion alerts (cloud drifts to block sun, shadows being cast, brightness changes, etc).
It’s a great idea, but the solar panel either needs to be detachable, or on the opposite side as the camera. Birdloverfeeder needs a lot of work. The functions need to be imported.

On Birdloverfeeder , there’s no information on how to turn on or off that alarm. You can’t tell if the squirrel alarm is on … or if it’s off… how to you turn it on… the manual alarm goes on for 60 sec without any way to manually turn it off… Birdloverfeeder is hard to use without any details on how to use it….

I love the product, but this has to be one of the most poorly designed Aps I’ve seen. Help is useless. Why do my pictures inHistory come up square, and distorted? How (or can I) run the ID feature from a recorded clip or still? It seems I can only see an un distorted picture from the “message” feature, which is not intuitive. On and on, not obvious what the features do.
I’m not a newbie, just retired from 42 years as a software engineer and user interface designer. This would never get past initial review in any place I’ve worked.
by StokeyLA
The online chat is just a bot that gives the same response to every message or just ignores you.
The product seems ok but refuses to recognise the SD card that came with the device so won’t record video automatically.
Wouldn’t recommend anyone buy this product. Must be better ones available.
by Jlefflerster
There is no settings to disable this or change …but my unit turns off every night at 8:30pm and sends a text that it went offline. No reason. I would like to capture the bird s that come at night.

Still working on it. Tried four times today, unsure what is going on and I have to go back through all steps every time, so I have no clue what step I may be doing wrong or is the failure point……

It has been very entertaining having this feeder in souther New England. It has so far identified an extinct flightless penguin, a mute swan (native to Eurosiberia and Northern Africa), a passenger pigeon (extinct since ~1914), a black bellied whistling duck (???) and an Egyptian swan. If this is the future of AI, get ready to be very entertained !

I love my feeder, however my only issues are it randomly stops sending notifications. Up until this last time, it’s always eventually started working again, but it hasn’t so far this time. I started playing around with the settings and ended up accidentally turning on something that triggers quite a loud alarm that I couldn’t get to turn off until I turned off the camera. Aside from those issues though, the concept is great and I’ve really enjoyed watching the birds (and squirrels…).

Without exception, every time I go to view a new video or any video that the device records off birds, I have to first tap View only to have it fail and say there’s no mSD card. Then I go back and tap View again and it works every time after the first failure. I’ve tried several Sandisk mSD cards, including brand new Elite series Sandisk and it’s clearly got nothing to do with the media. Formatted FAT 32 and even tried Xfat. All give the same result as described. Please fix this. It’s a super fun activity for my family, but just very annoying to where no one wants to mess with it. Best regards

When up and working, this camera is great fun and does beautiful bird pictures. However, the process of setting Birdloverfeeder up to work is almost impossible and very frustrating for the non-technological-minded person. After I shut off the camera at one point, it took me three days to figure out how to get it working again. Sheesh!
by Janices007
The product is great. The pictures have been good so far. My main problem is after deleting the motion alerts they come back. It’s incredibly annoying. Takes some getting used to the use of Birdloverfeeder . Not the most user friendly but I love the product so much I can look past the annoying parts of Birdloverfeeder .
by Gingerallie22
I love Birdloverfeeder and feeder for the most part, but lately I am getting 10+ notifications for the same bird, down to the same second which is frustrating.
by Tmcampana
I’ve really enjoyed all the features of this bird feeder, but as of 3/19, I can no longer use the Playback feature. It just says No Playback Video for the current day. But I have a ton of notification alerts and there’s plenty under History for the day in question. I’m not sure what happened to stop this feature from working.
by Sippel613
The bird-feeder and app all work with no issues so far. Birdloverfeeder is in desperate need of a complete redesign to make it more user-friendly. it takes quite a while to get used to where everything is in Birdloverfeeder and how everything functions. I hope they come out with a complete redesign soon.
by Legend700
App is hard to understand and clear instructions are missing.
by Luckoduck
Love the idea of this but the WiFi technology is very primitive. It goes “offline” all the time for no apparent reason, even when it is being used and working fine. And then there is no mechanism is refresh and get it back “online”. For the price, it really should be more reliable.

We have been using the Bird Feeder for 3 months. It works OK, but could be better. Picture resolution poor when bird is close to camera. Need camera set further back from seed container. Field of view too small. When birds sit on edge of feeder, cannot see them.
by Dbourne
Setting up the feeder was quite strightforward once i realized I could rotate the camera to access the top. The software is very good but some detailed instructions would be very useful. After a few days of trying Bird ID and getting errors messages it started working from the live view window. Setting notifications still seems a challenge. It worked for a day but stopped after setting it up outside. I probably need to adjust a setting.
by Wild4Birds
I use an iPhone and would like to turn my phone to horizontal for a wider view. Are there some settings that I need to adjust?
Other than that, I am enjoying all the features. I can take pictures, videos, use the siren to chase away squirrels, and listen to birds via mic. Also, can shoo the squirrels using the mic.
by Maddiemom
To preface, this is still new to me. We have had it installed two days. It is working well and I like the AI for bird identification but limited since it only seems to work for live video. I also believe, since the notifications can distinguish “motion” or “bird”, I should be able to select if I want both types of notification or just “bird”.
The camera is very clear and once we were able to figure the right camera orientation- maybe a removable sticker or reference in the manual to indicate “top” would be helpful- setting up connection to the network was easy.
Also, I would be willing to pay a premium if I could configure specific varieties of birds for notification! I have a lot of sparrows and cardinals but want to see tanagers and warblers :)

It took me awhile to figure out some of the settings to make it work correctly, but once I did it seems quite good actually! There are settings that aren’t functional for the bird cam, but I can tell that they are generic settings used for motion cameras as well and just need to be ignored for the bird camera. Once I realized that you need to shut off the motion detection setting and just use the bird spotting mode, I was happy with it. Pictures and videos are easily downloaded so I don’t know why people are complaining about that.
by VoSot
App works great and is chock-full of features. Have not had any issues identifying any of the birds that we’ve seen so far. It would be nice if I could save photos and videos directly to my own camera photo-roll. As opposed to the built-in gallery. Maybe in future releases.
by Stumptoe
I had a charging problem that they worked me through very patiently. I had previously been unable to delete pictures and they worked me through that. I was delighted with the help they gave me. Birdloverfeeder works great, and I’m really enjoying it.

Just love this camera feeder.
Sure it goes offline every now and then, but usually exiting Birdloverfeeder , waiting a little, and going back in gets it working again. People have to realize this is dependent on your network. Also, keep in mind not all wifi enabled devices work 100% perfectly all the time. All in all, it works, great pictures and videos, and I get to see my feathered friends whenever I want. I just love it. Make sure you change your notification settings: select Me from the bottom, message center, gear icon, system notification, and not recurring, to select how much time in between notifications (last picture), or your phone battery will drain with all the notifications from the frequent visitors. Oh and this says to keep within 50ft of your house, but we have ours 100ft away and the signal strength is still great, just depends on your network.
