Disconnect between website and app, no landscape support for app

I was guided to The (P)rehab Guys by several medical professionals to rehab a knee injury. I first attempted to subscribe using the website as I spend more time on a computer than on a device. All the attempts to register failed as it would not put membership into the cart. I ended up going to my iPad to download Prehab and register. That worked but I could still not log into the website using the credentials I created. So there is no control over your account on the (P)rehab website if you are forced to subscribe using Prehab because the website wasn’t working right…fail.

Prehab does not support accessing the video library and since the website doesn’t recognize Prehab credentials, I cannot access it there either (from the customer service, the 3000+ exercise library which is advertised to be included in Prehab is actually a separate subscription that you have to buy in addition to Prehab …another $200/year).

Also Prehab doesn’t support landscape mode so if you are using an iPad or tablet, you will need to prop it up on something or hold it in your hands while trying to perform the exercises. That seems like a simple app developer issue that they do not seem to care to address. I’m disappointed that these minor issues create such a negative user experience (apparently there is an update to allow landscape mode but as of 7/7/23 it still doesn’t).

Okay but glitchy

So hear me out the idea for Prehab is really great however the execution is really poor. There’s a ton of bugs and it doesn’t quite let you go through things like how many reps you did it automatically cycles to the next workout before it’s supposed to and there’s other little things that don’t really make it so user-friendly in addition the interface could be grossly modified. The principle of Prehab is great and I love that. However, whoever the designers are need to be told of some of the glitches and bugs that are present. I’ve had to uninstall and reinstall Prehab due to it constantly glitching. so please improve the user interface user experience and don’t automatically switch between one out and the next in a sequence that doesn’t make sense for example, if I’m supposed to do 15 sets for five seconds, it automatically will switch to the next workout in five seconds which leaves no time for example to do those 15 sets sorry I mean reps anyway anyways overall the idea is great. Just improve the bugs and I’ll be able to update the rating after.

Great for at Home Physical Therapy

I’m a mother who experienced some long-lasting hip/groin/SI complications post birth. PT was very helpful but hard to fit into my schedule (and to align with theirs!) and it didn’t feel like an exercise program that I could maintain. I was just given exercise after exercise without putting them together into a cohesive program.

I like Prehab because I can follow a track and have programs to “graduate” into as I progress. I also love that the rehab/this app workouts are 20-30 minutes. That’s all the time I can devote to this with a full time job and a toddler.

I have one minor tweak I would like to see. I love using the timer feature - I program 10 seconds between moves - but I wish there was a way to program a few seconds between sides of one lateral move. I lose seconds or have to restart the move timer when the exercise requires you to completely switch sides. But this is just a minor irritation.

Finally, I only gave 4 stars because this is a bit expensive for me. I wish there was an option to get a discount if I purchased multiple months at once. So far I have continued to pay because I enjoy these work outs and I am feeling better, but I don’t think this will fit into my budget for the long run.

Preferable to in-person PT for me

I’ve struggled with a few chronic pain/ injury issues through the years and have been disappointed by traditional PT in the past. I find that the exercises they plan take forever - like 45-60 minutes a day, 6 days a week, and, when they don’t help, the PTs tend to just say to do even more of the same - a couple have even given up on me when their plan didn’t work. Prehab has a few huge benefits. 1) I can work through program for the body part that I think is causing my pain, but, if that doesn’t help, I can move to another possible culprit. 2) The workouts in the programs I’m using include timed circuits rather than sets and reps, which is fabulous! No more endless PT sessions. 3) The videos are so helpful - it’s impossible to remember all those little pointers from meeting a PT. 4) The progressions make sense; I’m not maxing out some suggested workout from one website the guessing what to try next. Totally, 100% recommend to anyone looking for more say in their own health and fitness.

Love!!

I have had hip and shoulder issues for several years, and they got worse after having a baby. I’ve been to traditional PT, massage therapy, the chiropractor, etc and Prehab has made the most difference out of any of those things! I’ve been telling everybody I know about Prehab because it’s helped me so much already and I’ve only been using it for a few weeks. I’m so much more consistent with doing my exercises because I can quickly just go through them on Prehab and watch a demo/learn how to modify if I need to. This has made all the difference! I love the handy timer on each exercise too! Although it seems like a splurge for an app, it actually works out to be cheaper than if I went to regular PT once a week and used my insurance! And it has other programs as well, like full workouts, so to me it’s definitely worth the money! So happy with Prehab and I can’t wait to see how much progress I will make in a few more weeks!

Love the Prehab App!!!

I am a person trainer and would use their exercise library sometimes when creating workouts for my sister who lives far away from me or just using it to find a new exercise to try with clients to switch things up a bit. However, I stopped personal training and now work at a rehab clinic as an office assistant and just don’t have the time or the drive to create my own programs right now. As much as I love it, sometimes it’s nice to not have to plan my own workout. Plus it’s an added bonus to learn great verbal cues from physical therapists and as a personal trainer I am always trying to learn more not just for me but for my (future) clients. I also love that you can modify and exercise to be more or less difficult. I’m an all around fan!

Helpful.

I purchased this subscription as I’m working my way out of a serious running injury. I first did PT the traditional way, which was fine until my therapist relocated and I of course the insurance piece. It was a heafty purchase, but would be cheaper than pursuing more therapy in the traditional route, not to mention the convenience. It made sense.

As I worked my way through the program it was effective and easy to use! The videos are easy to follow as needed and the timer helps keep me focused and able to get my exercises done efficiently. I like that you can progress or regress your exercises if the selected exercise is not the right level. The equipment required is listed and for the most part minimal and certainly affordable (and otherwise useful!)—nothing a typical household couldn’t at least improvise.
You can set reminders so you don’t forget to work your therapy in to your day. Additionally, you can work on several programs at once.

I’m completely satisfied with my purchase and definitely stronger than when I started with my particular ailment. I’m not quite back to running yet, but I wouldn’t have come this far if it were not Prehab . Pain is much less and I can feel the strength I’ve gained from regularly practice. The subscription is pricey, but if you consider a co-pay x ___ number of visits, not to mention the inconvenience of another “appointment” to work into a busy work week, it’s been a life saver for me! Obviously, if you need corrective therapeutics, you still might need to get to a clinic to get ahead of your injury for some duration. But, this would still be a great option to compliment traditional therapy to get you on your way to wellness quickly.

Healing and progress thanks to Prehab 🙏🏻

Felt the need to share my story as this app has gotten me in the path to recovery. I'm distance runner, avg 50-70 miles a week, and a few months back my hip flared and sidelined me from doing what I love modr I had never dealt with anything as severe and was immediately concerned. this app provided me with the framework and confidence to get right again. It easily allowed me to prioritize my hip and leg strength and once that gets right, everything will fall into place. I just completed the hip rehab and then runningn this app programs and I just completed my first run in over 2 months that didn't include walking. Highly recommend Prehab to anyone struggling with a nagging injury or for those just looking to strengthen areas of their body the don't know how to properly activate. My work with this app has allowed me to prioritize my strength and recovery, and set me up for long term success moving forward.

Great App

The reason I chose Prehab is that it was created by several very talented PhD Physical Therapists. They base all their work on proven scientific methods and years of cumulative experience helping patients heal. Prehab is designed to prove guidance at every step of the journey back from injury to recovery. It provides explanations through graduated steps that are level appropriate. The videos at each level are not only informative but one of the PTs performs the exercises so the patient can see proper technique while attempting to perform the exercises. And, There’s a built-in timer so you don’t have to constantly reset an external one. The method of utilizing explanations in conjunction with instructive videos is a technique that makes so much more sense than looking at a static photo of an exercise! Can’t say enough great things about Prehab! Apart from the fact that it’s based on science, it’s fun. It’s a great addition to any hands-on Rehab program.

Life changing!

The [P]rehab app has been life changing for me. I am an international school teacher from the US. Living outside of the US has its challenges, one of them (at least where I am living currently) is access to high quality physical therapy. I am a super active human, I love running, kickboxing, HIIT, weight lifting, and playing fetch with my pup. This all was impacted when I was diagnosed with a rotator cuff injury, tendinitis. I was in serious pain for months. I could not sleep, I was afraid to move, resulting in the start of frozen shoulder. All of this combined I was really really struggling and I could not find the help that I needed. I started searching the internet for resources, including social media, specifically instagram. There had to be someone who could help me. I found the [P]rehab guys on instagram and loved the exercises they posted after following a few shoulder stretches. I learned they had an app and downloaded it. I tried the rotator cuff rehab for 7 days… and for the first time in months my pain decreased. For the first time in months I slept better. The thought of it brings tears to my eyes because living in constant pain was horrible. I decided to pay for access to Prehab , which is not inexpensive. However, I can not say enough times that it is worth every penny. I am not 100% yet, I have been told rotator cuff injuries (and especially frozen shoulder) can take a long time to achieve full recovery. However, I am pain free, I have been able to get back to my running (and training for my next 1/2 marathon), I can throw the tennis ball for my dog without being in severe pain, I am sleeping well.

Beyond just the positive impact the program has had on my shoulder, there is access to so so so many different programs in Prehab . Not just for recovery, but also to prevent injury and to build strength.

I highly recommend Prehab and all of the opportunities it offers to take care of your body. The money is well worth it as you are investing in your body, you only get one!

Amazing help with a back injury!

I suffered a lower back injury from snowboarding late last year. I started feeling better about 6 weeks post injury, but once I reintroduced lifting weights, I exacerbated the injury and was in so much pain. I felt miserable for a few weeks until I came across The this app Guys and their lower back Rehab program. I am on week 7 now, and this program coupled with lighter exercise has truly helped me! I am in way less pain than I was, and I am finally moving into multiple days in a row where I am not in pain at all! I should note that I am not taking any pain relievers or anything either; this is simply a result of following the programming as intended. I will never not do some sort of this app after this injury, and I am so happy they have a lower back and running this app programs which I will be doing next alongside my regular workout regimen! I signed up for the year subscription after going through this! Thank you this app Guys!

Picks up where tradition PT fails

I’ve been to physical therapy multiple times for the same chronic pain. As a young active (and previously avid) weightlifter it’s been very frustrating to give up my hobby the past 1.5 years because of chronic neck pain. The PTs have always been able to get me functional again but then I’m released and left to my own where I fall back into the same pain within a few weeks to months. What I like about Prehab and where I feel like traditional PT has failed me, is not only rehabbing the muscles but actually improving strength and mobility beyond what the bare minimum is to get me through my day.

I’ve almost finished the rehab portion and am excited to move onto the this app portion of the mid and upper back area. I’ve already seen a tremendous difference in my daily pain following the video instructions and am hoping continuing with the this app portion will eventually get me back to my normal exercise and weightlifting routine which I miss greatly!

Awesome Prehab PT App!

Love Prehab so much. It’s crafted by expert doctors of physical therapy who bring you effective exercises with all the explanation you need to perform them well to address any minor injuries and even better: help you be the mechanic of your own body and prevent injury. I am currently loving using the feature of having it design a program for me based on a pain I’m having, in this case plantar fasciitis. I’m in week 5 of the 12 week program and am already feeling improvement in symptoms. You’re able to customized based on equipment you have, how may times a week and how much time you have! I love working out and use a bunch of other apps so I loved this bc I knew I wasn’t going to commit more than 3 x 30’ sessions to this, but that itself was a great amount of time to spend on rehab exercises. I am a doctor of physical therapy and as a human too, I may know what I should do, but don’t always do that, so I love Prehab forcing me to commit to what I know I need to do for my own orthopedic issues that arise. High recommend!

Pattern of Deceptive Free Trial Presentation - Multiple Users Affected

I was charged $49 within days of signing up after seeing “Start Your 7-Day Free Trial” prominently displayed at the top of Prehab . The pricing screen shows the monthly plan ($49) clearly states “Does Not Include FREE Trial,” yet Prehab ’s main screen and hero section heavily advertise a 7-day free trial without clearly distinguishing that it only applies to the annual plan.
When I contacted support about the unexpected charge, they directed me to the website. However, the in-app presentation is what drove my decision to sign up. The annual plan button does say “Start My Free Trial,” but the prominent banner at the top of the entire app simply says “Start Your 7-Day Free Trial”—with no mention of plan restrictions.

This isn’t an isolated misunderstanding. Multiple users on Prehab Store show the same pattern: we see ‘Start Your 7-Day Free Trial’ prominently displayed, select what we think is that offer, and are charged immediately. The developer acknowledges this confusion in their responses but hasn’t fixed it. Prehab is systematically misleading users about when the free trial applies

Wow!

I’m a lifelong athlete in my fifties. I’ve been generally injury free most of my life. A little over a year ago, I thought I’d need shoulder surgery. Lucky for me, physical therapy was the answer. I’ve recently experienced a painful hip impingement that made me nervous. Remembering the experience I’d recently had with my shoulder, I wanted to try PT again. In the course of researching options is when I came across Prehab. There are no magic items that will cure ailments immediately, but this comes close! I used the body scan feature to identify my pain point and am following the recommended program. Even the first session made a meaningful difference. Could I get the same results going to a local physical therapist? Sure I could. Would I get better results? Maybe, I guess. Is it worth it to just subscribe here and call the cost my co-pay? Absolutely. For what it may be worth to you, Prehab is a game changer for me. Good luck to you - I hope you find the relief you’re likely seeking.

Extremely pleased with new Prehab app!!

I started using the old [P]rehab app a couple years ago when I experienced glute med tendinosis. I started seeing a physical therapist but found with the use of the this app app and the excellent pacing of the program I was able to advance my hip recovery better at home, with greater flexibility and improved focus. The old app was a bit clunky at times but still manageable. I am so excited about this new app! I am able to access my old hip program but it also includes tons of other content. I am working on arms, wrists and shoulders right now and have added general hip mobility to keep those hips moving. I LOVE that all of this content is included. The explanatory videos are very clear and written explanations are available as well. There is a ton of content and I feel like I’ve only scratched the surface of what’s on Prehab. I also appreciate that they continue to make adjustments and improve Prehab by listening to customer input. I am a huge fan!!!

Amazing tool for physical well being

I decided to purchase the annual subscription last year and it is well worth it! I’ve gotten so much great benefit from the running, core, back, neck/shoulder programs they have. I am excited they now have a postpartum program as pelvic floor rehab is such an important underrepresented area in recovery and getting back to training or even just daily life. I highly recommend Prehab for anyone looking to reduce pain, gain flexibility/mobility, perform better in the gym or out on the trail, and to just feel better every day. Prehab layout makes it so easy to navigate, pick a body part, find a quick workout, so that you can customize what you need that day, or just follow a program for 6-8 weeks. The videos really break the movements down so well and tell you every step you need to perform it correctly. I am currently back in school and working part time so having something I can fit in my busy schedule is so important. The annual subscription is a big one time payment but overall it is less than paying monthly.

Making me more confident & faster hip mobility for my Dad

I used the old this app app and loved getting access to knowledge I could trust was coming from professional doctors of physical therapy. And the new this app app is even better, sleeker, easier to search, AND still gives me access to so many essential programs!

I work a desk job, and having a program to help stretch me out in conjunction with my private chiropractic care has done wonders for my tight upper back/neck.

I also HATE running, but their running program is making me feel more confident, building up my fundamentals and slowly increasing the intensity so I don’t feel overwhelmed and just give up like I have in the past. I’m excited to try their Fitness Fundamentals so I can similarly build up my confidence for the gym or at home workouts. I feel like I’m slowly developing a habit and more easily maintaining a lifestyle change.

But finally and maybe most importantly, my dad had hip surgery, and while we followed the paper worksheet of stretches he got from his care team, having the this app app was instrumental in having him get back to full mobility within a few short months because we could watch videos, understand the movement/what he should be feeling in the stretch, and we could always modify if necessary.

I love that I can both help my Dad heal as well as have access to knowledge that will help me prevent injury/pain in the future. Thank you this app guys for top notch care at the tip of my fingers!

Exactly what my son needed!

My son had major surgery and was going to need another surgery, so he was between PT episodes, and insurance made him have a gap in service. I didn’t want him to lose any progress between surgeries so I found Prehab. Prehab features so many programs and focus areas! It targets the 2 muscle groups he needs to focus on, AND after all of his surgeries he can do a soccer program to get him conditioned for soccer after his PT clears him. Sometimes it can be hard to get a teenager to be motivated to do what “adults” want them to do, but he really has liked the therapists/coaches in Prehab, the exercises variety of exercises, how it progresses him at a good pace, workouts are hard but not unsafe, and its user friendly. I have been very pleased, as has my son, and feel like this is a perfect adjunct to his PT. He is definitely making progress by following the programs and I’m so relieved to have something to guide us outside of PT. Lastly, the value is exceptional…it’s like having PT sessions for a couple dollars instead of $40 a visit!

Good App, Lot of Room for Growth

You can get a lot out of Prehab if you put the time in to dive deep. Prehab is very much geared to you following their workout plans, which you select from a brief description and then it gives you the workout programs day by day. I don’t like this, as I’d rather see what the program includes up front to know if it’s something worth pursuing.

At the same time, however, they have stand-alone workouts that you filter by muscle group and duration to find the one that fits you best. This is the section of Prehab that I use to go in and pull out specific exercises that I want to fit into my routine.

Going forward, it would be best for Prehab to have a third section that lists all of the available exercises by muscle group. That would allow Prehab to have an image of a body, for users to select the body part that they wanted to learn about, and see all the different exercises and stretches that could help that muscle group.
