It’s a good start…

First off, love the ESPN NY has an app now. Should make things a lot easier, but for now that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Did anyone user test this??

- Add feature to queue episodes. This sounds like it should be a standard feature for a podcast app, no?

- Add an option for automatically playing the next episode.

- Also remember that episodes are uploaded in date order, so add an option for auto play to play the next newest episode as opposed to the standard play next. For example, see Dipietro & Rothenberg, where they upload the hourly episodes. Normal auto play would play in the order of Hour 3, then Hour 2, then Hour 1. Reversing that auto play order would play them in logical order. Essentially add an auto play next option from Older to Newer or Newer to Older

- The episodes are in date order but if the title is too long and you can’t see the date at the end you’ll have no idea when it’s from. Consider adding an upload date under the episode title.

- There’s a favorites list but you can’t favorite anything, as far as I can tell.

- The forced auto play is annoying but you can turn that off (it should default off)

Nice start

It appears to be a pretty decent app to start but the one thing I find missing is a rewind function. We should be able to start from beginning shows from the last 24 hours. Just like another radio app in the NY area that allows that. Add that and I would definitely bump this up to four maybe five stars. Is that in the works? Would love to be able to rewind to beginning of shows instead of just being able to listen to podcasts, which I do like but please rewind function!

Finally!

After a decade of navigating the espn app this espn new york app gives me everything I want with my Ny sports and so easy to access! Already an improvement over the original app!

One major problem

Got it specifically for radio, and it works great, but: if some else happens on your phone that wants to use audio, it stops the radio stream AND it doesn't re-start once that other thing is done. Specifically, an incoming call shuts it down and you even I don't accept the call it doesn't restart. Very annoying if I'm doing something like cooking or taking a shower.

Needed this

Have loved the Michael Kay Show forever but lived outside New York. Listened after the fact, but could never listen live. Much love to all y’all for making this happen 👏

By

Exactly what was needed

One place to visit with all of the 98.7 content you could ever dream of.

Live feed feed as soon as ESPNNewYork opens - perfect touch.

Being able to listen from knobservations all the way to ENN in one location, what more could anyone ask for.

What a wonderful app.

Love it but….

It’s great that it’s very easy to navigate through… but very delayed.
I’d enjoy if I could read espn articles pertaining to the New York teams and if ESPN New York started streaming their shows and had it exclusively on ESPNNewYork so that more people download it.

I’d also enjoy if I go out of the podcast page that it doesn’t make me restart

Where are all the podcasts?

I love going through and listening to older episodes but there is only one month of episodes? Would appreciate if this had an archive or vault and PS, I would be willing to pay!

Finally. One stop shop.

I only used the ESPN app to listen to ESPN New York live radio and podcasts. After several emails asking them to #fixthat they did. Has everything a New York listener wants. I can even live stream Brazil in the Euro’s! @jimfromstamford

Great app!

Great app to enhance the learning on my favorite station.now I can listen to my morning show on the move effortlessly outside of my car.

Fantastic app!!

This is the best radio app out there! I only have a couple suggestions for improvement, 2 are just nitpicky things, one is a deal breaker. 1) ESPNNewYork doesn’t save your spot in the podcast when you leave ESPNNewYork or if it refreshes. The regular ESPN app does so I feel like that’s an easy fix. 2) I can’t see the episode descriptions. Not sure why, but you can only see the first few words. Not the biggest deal. 3) DEAL BREAKER!!!! The worst thing about ESPNNewYork that needs to be fixed immediately, the DiPietro & Rothenberg show is listed first before Michael Kay show. That is the worst thing in all Apps right now. It’s criminal really, and I’m going to delete ESPNNewYork if they dont fix it. There is NO chance they are more popular, they definitely aren’t better than Michael, Don and Peter, so there’s no logical reason for it. They can be 3rd after ENN, that’s fine. But that needs to be fixed right away.

Still Needs Work (PLAYS OUT OF SEQUENCE)

While ESPNNewYork as a whole is a revelation in itself, ESPNNewYork still needs more tweaking. The most recent further update (with a more detailed description of the hours as well as the auto play) But here’s the problem with auto play…. I listen to the Michael Kay Show staring at hour one. However after the first hour plays, instead it going to hour 2, it immediately starts to play hour 4 of the PREVIOUS day. Reason being…. The hours are playing in a last one post, first one to play order. Whoever is posting these shows need to understand that there has to be an order sequence that makes sense!!!!!

Good content, needs refinement

The podcasts are great and load quickly, just have a few suggestions for the developers.
There is no 15s FF/RWD on the Now Playing widget or control center which would be really helpful, only next/previous track controls. Also if you’re playing a specific podcast and navigate to another show within ESPNNewYork , that podcast stops playing.

By

Simple yet effective

For an app like this you don’t need many frills. ESPNNewYork is super easy to navigate, very easy to pick something and start listening. Going with a streamlined app made sense. Only suggestion for an improvement would be a section of articles about NY sports teams and the shows on the station.

By

Works Okay

Definitely better than the stock ESPN app, however still has some bugs. For example, if paused while listening off screen, I need to close out of the ESPN app and reload before it will play again. Really strange.

By

Easy to find local content

It’s easy to find local content on ESPNNewYork but I still use the regular ESPN app for sports news. So it’s a push. Option for autoplay upon opening app stopped working but I deleted and re-installed ESPNNewYork , which solved that glitch.

By

Great App but...

Great App, super easy to use interface. Only thing I would like to see is the option to play podcasts at higher speeds. Usually dont get the chance to catch Rick & Dave in the morning so listening to the podcast at 1.5 speed is key!

By

Stops or rewinds

I enjoy listening to ESPN New York during my work day. But ESPNNewYork will buffer and crash, and it doesn’t really matter where I am. Maybe even more annoying is it will randomly go back several minutes, and you have to listen to a segment over again. It can be very frustrating.

By

No Knicks games

I don’t live in New York area but don’t understand why you can’t listen to Knicks games on ESPNNewYork . It cuts out to ESPN radio instead However you can get rangers and islanders which makes no sense. Otherwise great app for listening to Michael Kay show

By

App keeps crashing

I love ESPNNewYork , I listen every day but all of a sudden it constantly crashes.

By

Thank you! But let’s make it better!

Thank you for bringing back ESPNNewYork ! I love how it’s organized but it can be a little friendlier to people who don’t want to miss anything.

- make it easier to find where you left off
- make it easier for you to see what you’ve already heard and what you haven’t
- there should be a queue list or at least an auto play to a next episode

I only put the low stars to bring attention to these issues but I love that ESPNNewYork is a thing again

By

Need ability to change speeds

Well designed but inability to listen to podcasts at higher speeds make it a non starter vs Apple Podcasts. Unfortunate.

By

Casting?

App is so much easier to use than trying to navigate live radio on the ESPN app. However, I see no option to cast to speaker, etc.

By

Apple Watch App

Great app, but it would be even better if there was an Apple Watch app, so you can listen without your iPhone.

Would be a great update!

By

Audio goes on as soon as you open the app

The audio goes on immediately, which is OK. The problem is you can’t turn it off. If you just want to see what is going on you have to listen to the current talk. I had to delete ESPNNewYork , way to annoying.

By

Easy interface

Super easy to use

Promo over kill!!!

I love ESPNNewYork but as of the beginning of the new year you guys are doing an over kill with the Mike “Greeny” Greenburg promo’s. His promo comes on five to six times an hour. I counted 25-30 times his promo comes up during the whole four hours of Unsportsmanlike show as well as every other show. While the other shows promo's come on once every two hours. If his show is down on ratings either move him to strictly local 98.5 or remove him altogether he boring he is the Dan Patrick show of ESPN radio. HE’s BORING!!!!! he’s trying to make his radio show like the tv “GetUp” which is also boring with him on it. That’s why he needs a panel of people around him just to make his show interesting.

By

Can’t listen to 98.7

Great app when it works. I want to listen to ESPN New York and ESPNNewYork will only let me listen to the national radio broadcast. Im in nyc…might as well listen to WFAN. They don’t make me work hard to listen

By

Needs an upgrade

I would like to start a program from the beginning. Also, why not have different chapters or hour segments during the live broadcast? I would like to rewind and pause during the shows. Big fan of ESPN, New York radio. I listen every day for over a decade plus. Please consider these suggestions.

By

Doesn’t work

It says unable to download content and check internet connection. Of course I have connection because I just downloaded ESPNNewYork .

By

Disappointing

Love most of the radio shows on ESPN but ESPNNewYork is trash. Constantly down, rewinds while listening so you hear the same segment again, and is significantly behind the live feed so you have no shot at calling in for contests. ESPN & Disney are two massive companies. They should have a much better app than this.

Great and easy to use
