Horrible

Worst customer service experience of my life. Had to use Updater to set up internet in my new apartment and my appointment details were ALL wrong (they were inputted via the this app customer service person, who confirmed 6 separate times on the phone with me the correct details - it blew my mind on the phone how many times you would need to confirm information, AND IT WAS STILL WRONG!!). I realized after the second automated cancellation email from quantum fiber that something must be wrong. Then I corrected the details, but since the service was billed through this app, they did not confirm the appointment I had made, and once again I found myself getting automated cancellation emails. I then cancelled the service altogether and realized I could buy the same service direct from QF from $10/month cheaper. What a scam of a service, and what a horrible experience for someone working from home. Would not recommend Updater or service to my worst enemy.

Shady customer service

Updater works. Once I confirmed my move Updater asked me to get internet provider etc. I did try to get an internet provider and needed to confirm my information via phone call. Once I made that phone call everything went downhill. The person that answered tried to lie to me that a particular internet provider was not available for the building I was moving to. That was a lie and once I told the person that then they were able to miraculously find the internet provider I was looking for. At that point I told the person goodnight and they continued to harass me until I blocked their number. Would not recommend Updater for anything.

A Laughing Stock

Im moving soon and the apartment im in recommended this trashy app to help move. WHAT A JOKE. I havent been able to access the contents of Updater because on every device i have tried, all i see is the loading screen. I swear last I tried I watched a couch, a lamp, and a bed go into a box about one hundred times before getting frustrated and deleting it. Based on other reviews I guess I saved myself some worry with all of the stress others have gone through with Updater . Bottom line DONT WASTE YOUR TIME.

Continual log-in

The idea behind Updater is innovative, but like many things it really isn’t at all helpful. My biggest complaint is that the vast majority of the time it just keeps requiring me to log-in (feudal cycle).

The other problem when it wasn’t on continual log-in was an issue with internet provider, Updater kept reading “almost done”. It then switched to “complete”, but that was while driving home from the internet provider’s store.

Updater is going to be useful once the kinks get straightened out.

Mercy

Spent two weeks trying to set up internet because they told me “it needs to be installed” and each time my appointment was “due” no one would show up and when I would call they would tell me they had no clue what I was talking about. They told me I couldn’t set it up via isp repeatedly and multiple times put me through some type of phone circus have transferring. I ended up doing everything on my own and I did it all within a day. Im not sure if these reviews are paid for or what but there is no way this place is 5 stars

Needs a lot of work

What happens if you cancel your move?! We backed out of the sale of a house and they made it extremely difficult to cancel their update services. They give you no option to change the address you are moving to cause we did have a new one. Honestly just horribly thought through in that regard. It created a huge mess and hassle. Not just Updater I called the company and everything and they said their was nothing they could do that it was all set in stone and I'd have to contact usps and xfinity directly. NOT HELPFULLLLL

Complete fraud?

I tried to use it to forward my mail, realized 2 days before moving that they never did that.
I tried to use it for internet/tv, went through the whole process, said they just needed to speak to spectrum to confirm because the previous tenant hadn’t canceled service yet. this app never called back, when I called spectrum they had no record of me setting up service, they didn’t recognize the confirmation number this app gave me. On top of the that, the price quote I got directly through spectrum was $10 a month cheaper than the one I got from this app.
Literally caused more problems than it solved. 0 stars.

Misleading product pusher

So the email I got from this app made it seem like I was creating an official account with my apartment building (I’d pay rent and community boards etc.) so I was surprised when this wasn’t the case. But sure, I’ll let it help me set up utilities. Welp a few broken links later and listing the wrong internet provider which I now get emails from I decided to close my this app account. Not helping me move by signing me up for solicitations from services I can’t even use. The email I got from the building manager listed everything I needed without this hassle.

Very unhelpful

I am moving soon and was directed to download Updater for an easier move. There was a small checklist of a few items that needed to be done. I would complete these just to have them show up again as not completed. When trying to set up internet as well I received a confirmation email saying I needed to call to verify my identity. When I called I was told that my building isn’t residential so they will cancel my order. I then received more calls and emails telling me to call and verify. I called again and received the same response.
Would not recommend using. I was able to get everything set up without using Updater.

sketchy!!! DON’T USE THIS, unnecessary.

when trying to sign up for internet through Updater , I received a call saying they “needed to confirm my identity” and that I needed to upload sensitive personal information online. I immediately reached out to the internet service provider (ISP) directly, and they had no record of my order — couldn’t even find the “record locator” that I was given by this app. they also told me that the website provided by the this app rep over the phone was *not* used by the company. on top of this, I got a cheaper quote + additional rewards by calling the ISP directly!

this experience has left a terrible taste in my mouth. I fear that others who aren’t careful will be vulnerable to identity theft by using this service. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

DO NOT DOWNLOAD

I believe scammers are trying to trick people onto using Updater to get info from them. I received an email from my apartment saying I need to finish the checklist in order to move in when I had already finished the checklist so I was already confused but I haven’t did the internet portion. So I went ahead and did the internet portion and immediately I received a phone call saying I needed to confirm my identity. Which I never had to do but I was signing up with AT&T. So after they made me answer security questions that did not link to me they had asked me to upload 2 forms of ID which I found really odd. Then I had to call AT&T to confirm if there was a order placed and there was not an order. So I went ahead and placed the order with AT&T directly. DO NOT FALL FOR IT LIKE I ALMOST DID‼️‼️‼️

Do not download this app

I thought Updater would be a great way to keep a checklist of the major things I need to do to move but it is nothing like I expected. Transfer internet service option is nothing but paper pushing. Makes you call the provider to transfer your existing services anyway, so why would I go through an app I’ve never heard of to do that? Super sketchy the need to verify my identity so you can “assist” with transferring my service. But what really grinds my gears is the amount of notifications I’ve received. App notifications, texts, emails, and phone calls throughout the day, every single day. It’s gotten to the point I’ve had to block the phone number that they call from, stop texts, and turn off app notifications because it’s becoming too much.

Shady Customer Service pt 2

I had to leave a review as I saw another person had run into this issue. I was trying to set up an Internet service provider in the customer service representative was adamant That spectrum was the only option available. I felt pressured and any time I had a question or wanted more clarification The representative got upset and pressed me wanting me to complete the sale/transaction. I ended up just saying I’m sorry but I can’t do this at the moment and even then they continue to pressure me. “It’s almost done sir just complete it now!” I stuck my ground and told them no I can’t do this right now. Cancel the order. I’m so glad I did because I called Cincinnati Bell directly, and they said they do indeed service the building and I got a better price so why my representative at this app said they Do not, I do not know but I would never recommend the service.

sketchy

It’s that time again when I move out of an apartment and I start getting emails to sign up with this app. First of all, the emails are misleadingly titled confirm your move when in fact they are getting you to create an this app account and heaven help you if you start that process, I already got two emails today and unsubscribed twice. The arrangement seems similar to how apartments have a preferred insurance provider that costs a lot more than alternatives so I don’t expect good deals from this app and in fact the ones I’ve seen are inapplicable to me since all I need to do is turn off utilities and its faster to do that on the utility websites. By the way, it seems to me a privacy violation by the apartments when they hand out tenants information like this to other companies, probably for cash. Finally, I’m suspicious about the preponderance of five star ratings for Updater considering the written reviews are more varied.

How is this not a scam

Updater wasted a ton of my time. They had the wrong internet provider (twice) and power provider for my property which led to all sorts of runaround. Tried to cancel a service and ended up with a high-pressure call center that would only cancel service A if they could set me up with service B. When I refused they just sent me off to deal with it myself. I didn’t find anything that I could do faster or with less hassle with this app, it was all worse all around.

Like my mom

Updater has reminded me of everything I need to do for my move from Texas to Colorado!!!
I was able to connect utilities, internet, forwarding mail, etc !
I would have been lost without Updater!
Thank you very much, from a single man just trying to make it 🤣

It takes the stress out of moving

The font and presentation within Updater subconsciously soothes me while I’m making changes before my fiancé and I move. I wasn’t sure where to start but this has helped put it all in place.

Does what it says

Made my last move a lot easier. I still use the moving tab even after my move to book Dolly when I need heavy stuff moved in or out of my place. Can’t wait to see what else they’ll add next.

Move

I love how this app had made everything easy for my up coming move. It’s a relief to know that I don’t have to make a hundred home call and run around town to switch all of my information over

Convenience of updater

I find this app very convenient and easy. This is my first time handling a move to a new apartment by myself. this app gives you steps of what to do and in what order. I would definitely recommend this app.
