Can’t find a way to back out of the photo screen

When I take a picture, I get message: “Error - photos permission required to save photo. please go to Settings and enable. “. I respond OK and it takes me to Settings, where I enable the Camera permissions toggle. I then try to take a picture and get the same error message. Done this loop several times and still get the error. I also rebooted my iPhone and still get the error.
I am using an iPhone 15Pro with the latest software update.

Really, the shutter button resets exposure. Smh

Bought this for the eclipse and was disappointed with the velcro mounting since the top of the filter moved up and down so it was not parallel with the iPhone lenses giving totally distorted solar test images. And it also wiggled right and left which was also not conducive to good images.

Does not work

I had high hopes that my iPhone 15 Pro Max along with SolarSnap and filter would take good photos, however almost everything was blurry though on a tripod. SolarSnap automatically changed the lighting with each consecutive shot which made them all terrible. I don’t understand the logic behind that.
Good thing I had my Sony handicap set up with a special lens that I could pull a still photo or two from that.

I used SolarSnap and the filter but none of the times the shutter looked like it took a photo but there was none in the camera roll. I was in the line of totality but none of the 5 photos that should have been taken were found in the photo roll.

Om the Android Phone Im planning on using I get the error “This item isn’t available in your country.”! Please fix this and let everyone use SolarSnap to photograph the eclipse!

I wish they would give the ability to use the volume buttons to trigger. This would give remote shutter option.

While I’ve only played with SolarSnap a couple times taking pics of the sun there is one critical feature that’s missing. Bluetooth support. Considering that many people may want to use a tripod to help steady their shot, especially if zoomed in being able to trigger the shutter via Bluetooth should be standard. All that happens is the trigger increases my Ringer volume. I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max with the latest iOS release. I’d think with the last total eclipse in the continental US until 2045 that this wouldn’t be missing.
With that said, none of my 3rd party camera apps do this either - Moment, Camera+, Nightcap. Yet Filmic and MoviePro do allow Bluetooth to start and stop video recording. The other apps that can do video don’t work in video mode either.
I took off one star due to this. Though maybe that’s just they way it is.

… the ability to use a remote shutter button. Most remote shutter buttons for iOS work by emulating a volume button press. In the iOS camera app, this triggers a capture. In the Solar Snap app, the volume buttons don’t trigger a capture and thus, the remote shutter buttons don’t work.

For iPhones with multiple cameras, SolarSnap needs a way to select which camera to use. Zoom is all digital at present, so quality could be much improved.

I got some great shots for the October 14, 2023 eclipse. The tutorial helped explain how to use it. This is a necessity if you are going to take any pics of the eclipse with your phone.

Please would be five stars if it was

SolarSnap and the filters were easy to use, and we have some fantastic photos of the solar eclipse as a result. The sliders made it easy to adjust the settings on the fly. Thank you so much for making SolarSnap!

SolarSnap with the accompanying filter made our eclipse experience absolutely awesome. Would absolutely recommend it for anyone. Try out the totality mode prior to the totality stage. It made all the difference in picture quality.

SolarSnap worked great with the solar kit that contained 2 sets of glasses & phone lens covers. We were at Big Bend National Park for the partial eclipse & we had some of the best pictures taken with an iPhone compared to other visitors. So glad I got this for all the family!!!

SolarSnap did exactly what SolarSnap Store description said it would. In conjunction with a filter, I was able to get great photos of the eclipse.
Bonus points for not harvesting every byte of data off my iPhone.

While I wasn’t able to figure out how to get the partial eclipse I was able to get some great pics of the Solar Eclipse this year thanks to SolarSnap for my phone. They came out so well and I’ve gotten many compliments on what great pics they are. Thank you Solar Snap. Really appreciate SolarSnap. Plus I didn’t have to pay a premium or sign up. Just download and use. Easy and very good.

With mostly clouds fine tuning the focus wasn’t really possible but the instructions, zooming and tips made it easy for me to take a few photos I liked.

FANTASTIC APP that allowed me to use an older iPhone 8+ as a camera on a small tracking scope (ETX90) to capture great shots of the April 2024 eclipse. Auto-bracketing on preselected timer intervals is a GENIUS move. Now get to work on some more iPhone Astrophotography apps!!

Really enjoyed messing with the sliders on SolarSnap while taking pictures. Pictures are pretty decent quality too for trying to take pictures of the sun on a cell phone. Much much better than if you just tried to take a regular picture

If I could give SolarSnap 100 stars, I would. SolarSnap made my photos unreal to look at and was a life saver for the eclipse. People thought I used a professional camera but it was really just my iPhone. Definitely use SolarSnap when there is a solar eclipse.

SolarSnap was phenomenal for taking amazing Solar eclipse photos with my iPhone max. Super crisp. The auto total eclipse setting was wonderful for hands off photos while I was able to watch the eclipse. Thank you so much for creating SolarSnap and giving me great memories of the eclipse from Ohio.

I wanted a good photo when experiencing the solar eclipse and the regular camera didn’t capture it well. This was easy to use and I downloaded it right before the eclipse and got some good shots.

I enjoy SolarSnap because you can see the moon and the sun when the moon orbits the sun and also SolarSnap is really useful to me because when the moon walked out the sun, it gets dark and that’s why I like SolarSnap and last thing I also prefer SolarSnap very useful because when the solar eclipse happens, I like how it lasts for like five minutes and not a long time. Sincerely, Dom.

I never write reviews on apps but SolarSnap is great. I have a fancy iPhone camera that takes not so great photos of the eclipse ( even with adjusting the exposure and all sorts of stuff) but they never come out clear. Which is sad. I found SolarSnap because I have their physical solar filter and I’m finally able to take clear photos of the eclipse because of SolarSnap. I’m so happy because I finally got to experience the eclipse and I’m so happy.
Short: good app, clear photos, and it’s free. Pls download you will thank me later.

NASA recommended to buy a filter for your cell phone camera and posted a few web stores to buy them from. The filter that Solar Snap uses was the highest rated one, so I bought it.
I’m so freaking happy I did! We drove 10+ hours to see the totality of the eclipse on 4/8/24 and SolarSnap and filter made our photos! SolarSnap lets you adjust for Focus, Zoom, and Exposure and that made all the difference! I even took a few photos without using Solar Snap and you can’t tell we were at an eclipse.
Others I know also used Solar Snap and were extremely pleased. I will definitely use SolarSnap for future eclipses!

Great app, allowed me to take beautiful eclipse pictures just with my iphone. I wish there would be solar eclipse everyday so I could use SolarSnap on a daily basis 😆. Unfortunately that’s not the case. I feel sorry to uninstall this excellent app the day after the eclipse. But I will make sure Im coming back in 20 years when the next total eclipse comes into play. LOL.

I just downloaded SolarSnap and try it. I got an amazing results! Take a bunch of them before writing this review. I’m going to take more pic when it’s peak in my city. Thanks the creator!

The three snaps at different exposures let me pick the best and so I did not have a bad shot!

There’s a bunch of lame apps out there but not this one. Fast slider controls for zoom, focus and o lover/underexpose are fantastic. Go for it. We will see what happens on October 14 here in Santa Fe NM

SolarSnap when applying it to an eclipse event is very useful and convenient for many important reasons when it comes to witnessing an event like be it a solar one or a lunar one. 😀 Thank you Solar Snap!
by Lagoober
Now is a good time to see the moon and the sun. 😂

The title says it all. Using it here in Texas. Practicing.

I'll text you a review after I snap a few pictures of the eclipse.

This is a great app, it makes much better pictures of the sun that the native camera app. It also defaults to the 5x camera while the normal photo app switches depending on light conditions. It would be even better if it added remote shutter support either from the Apple Watch or one of this Bluetooth shutters. I know SolarSnap is for handheld photos but many might mount the phone to a tripod or on binoculars or telescope. For people using a telescope it would be nice if SolarSnap also offered support for the normal lens on phones. However for handheld photos of the sun SolarSnap in its current form is great.
