I decided to do a second review after spending well over $200 since it was impossible for me to win and continue playing without spending $. The game is very difficult if not impossible to win. Even after spending a lot of money, I’m still having a hard time winning or getting 3 stars. In general I like the game but I don’t like to be cheated and or ripped off!

This game’s mechanics are mixed up pretty bad.

The game offers you some purchases in the shop.
You can buy bundles of generals or gold.
One pack offers Hannibal for $10 but another pack has 5 generals, some troops,gold and silver for $100. The problem is that one of the generals in the $100 pack is Hannibal again. When you buy this pack, you loose the 1st Hanibal you purchased for $10 and the new Hanibal starts from the beginning so any gold or silver you spent on 1st Hannibal, gets lost.

Additionally,
-I’m not getting double rewards for the $40 pack I purchased- double rewards are a hit and miss. I got them a few times but most times I don’t.
I also had some issues with troops healing in battle like they were supposed to.
There were some other smaller issues I had but forgot to write them down so I forgot.

I love how it’s a mix between strategy and war it’s so fun and so many pros and I just got it and it’s sooooooo FUN the only con is that gladias or some one else was against the Roman army not with it also Julius Cesar had a kid named brutes
So easy to say this is 5 stars I have a game like this it’s trash compared to how good this is.!!!

I really like how it limits your movement making it tough to fight so you can’t just go straight in instead you have to plan your attacks accordingly so that you can get through and find out where the enemy is

Amazing strategy games and war games but need gold     ‍

Fun game until you reach the level where your opponent not only has stronger units like elephants and more units to start but can out produce you, seems rigged to make you spend $$$. Don’t mind spending but seems you’ll need to spend $100’s to compete

Idk if my version is glitched or something is wrong but The Battle of Beneventum it take 3 turns just to get my forces in control of either army and my city is usually sacked by 8 turns this can’t be the way it is designed is it?

Makes you really think about your strategy can’t just complete in one go

Only thing I have against this game is how hard it is to get gold there should definitely be more daily challenges

Third campaign 6th level is wicked all open fields and hard to out maneuver other teams troops it’s like they can read your mind…

Make sure you are patient to get gold

This strategy games and war games crashes it's way to expensive and if you need bazookas,med kits,ect. So much why the Hếll do they cost gold???

This is really a great game except the fact this company along with Apple want to charge you a fee for every upgrade. It really takes away from a good product. Just sell us the game please.

Second war impossible to win without upgrading with gold

The graphics are good it’s not boring ether good job developers 😁😁😁

It is a great game and maybe you could add more units

The only way to advance is to pay, in some cases large amounts.

The battle system is unrealistic, skirmish units inflict almost as many hits points as elite spear and sword units.

I have removed this game from my devices.

Grind levels over and over or pay to upgrade. Gets boring quick unless you pay.

Great war Aerial combat against jerrys and japs alike.

The game is simple enough thru the first session. When you graduate to #2 the curve doesn’t just trend upward, the game climbs in difficulty like it was shot out of a catapult…STRAIGHT UP!!! The battle of Beneventum is stacked in such a way that the player cannot use his troops properly because the game has already placed the forts in a stupid position. You only have ONE source of new troops…there are others that are just far enough away so as to be irrelevant while the computer player is preset to destroy everything on the first turn. The computer has three supply cities two moves away, they out-number the human by at least 2 to 1 and they have advanced cavalry and SIX elephants that take 6-7 or more strikes to kill them. I would really like this game except that the developer makes it impossible to play without spending money—contrary to what he responds to our posts. Just looked at the Computer enemy forces at Beneventum—THEY ARE ALL LEVEL & “ELITE” where the human player starts with fewer troops…LEVEL ZERO!!!! A few choice words come to mind for cheating greedy developers!!!!

I’ve played this game for about 2-3 weeks and I’m seeing most of the pros and cons mentioned in other comments and reviews. I’m personally running into issues around the Punic war. Strategy is key, for sure, but it borders on near impossible to complete. Some recommendations:

1) Make your basic ranged units have a range of 3 or 4 to allow for a layered defense over melee units.
2) Make your siege equipment have a range of 5 or 6 since this would be more historically accurate.
3) Cavalry units should never be counter attacked since they are always used as scouts.
4) Melee units should have stronger defense when grouped together. Roman legions provided mutual defense.
5) Make some of the special units available either after a battle or as you progress through the scenarios.
6) Forts and outposts should also have a range of 3 or 4.
7) Gold and resource income should increase when you capture a village or city. They should similarly decrease when you lose one.
8) Allow for the production of a camp so you can bring injured units to it to rest and refit, thus gaining HP to continue in the fight.

Just a few recommendations for improvements in the game.

I’ve been playing the game for 6 days and really like it. The game asked me more than 6 times to leave a review so here it is. So far, it’s a well thought out and fun strategy game. You can earn free gold and progress slowly without paying. You can earn small amounts of free gold through advertisements but it isn’t forced. The scenarios are getting harder very quickly. The game is definitely steering me into purchases. That is their right and I get it. I give it 5 stars so far for good game play minus one star for making it extremely difficult to progress. I recommend this game. It’s very solid and well designed.

The game is fun and very addicting. The shop is allll real currency though except for if you want to use your gold to buy silver in order to level up your troops. There is definitely a point where the game just stops and you have to keep waiting for daily reset just to play a few rounds hoping you are strong enough to continue on. I’m probably not playing the game correctly though, but it would be nice to get new troops or level them up a bit easier than waiting for reset. You have a fun game and I would love to play it.

They increase the levels of your opponent as you progress. Only way you can win is if you purchase upgrades which I’ve done multiple times. THEN they just increase the troop experience levels even higher so it’s a never ending merry go round of upgrades. Your troops all start with zero experience the one mission I’m on now for the Punic wars the catharginians are all at 9. You can creat more troops during the battle but they’re all at 0 or 1 going up agains troops that are already at a 9. Their other games are the same thing, you’ll upgrade, spend money then hit a brick wall where it’s just impossible to win.

I’ve enjoyed playing this game for the past week but have come across a few downsides. There are tasks that you can do each day and one of them is too earn stars but it came to a point where the counter didn’t increase after I got more stars so I could not reach the weekly goal and get a free special troop. Another thing is that there are tasks which want you to make a purchase and the game takes a lot of grinding without purchasing, which I refuse to do.

Now, while this is a good game to waste your time on, I would definitely suggest you do NOT purchase anything in game. Don’t spend like $10 just to get a general and some soldiers for your legion, it doesn’t get the help that $10 is worth. Besides, you can wait 6 weeks and get the same amount of rewards. What I’m trying to say is that this game is a pay to win but if your pay you don’t win and if you don’t pay you won’t make it past the Pyrrhic War.

It starts fun. The gameplay is great. However the game is too linear. They set it up to where if you don’t win it in one very specific way, you’ll lose. I like to play my strategy not the developers strategy, and it definitely doesn’t help with such a strict turn timer when every single map you’re vastly outnumbered. A sandbox mode or even just a non story based way to play would definitely help with how quick it can get stale in the story.

It’s fun but after about 10 missions it gets super hard and each mission gets really long (3+ hours). On some missions like the first Alexander the Great level I was confused about what the objective was and ended up with a huge army marching around with no enemies to kill for 10 turns at the end until I ran out of time and it said I was defeated.

The history is super cool though.

I have played this game for a few days now and I have noticed it to be much harder to beat each level. The first chapter is pretty easy except for the reverse levels and the 6th level but after that it would take me a day to get through each level and sometimes more. It would be great if there was a faster way to progress.

Easy tactical game for beginners in my opinion, from troop attributes all the way up to Generals buffs and special abilities, I’ve enjoyed my gameplay so far, highly recommend to those who want to get the brain working in a tactical aspect! Good job to the creators, keep on grinding and god bless you all

Good game and addicting. Con. Easy to spend money it’s a pay to play game or it will take a lifetime to level up. It’s hard to see the difference between infantry if easier it would make game smoother then clicking and reading swordsman between spearman. All together though I enjoy playing

I love the game and how challenging it is but at some points I feel like there should be a difficulty setting where you can make it easier than what it is at the time other than that I love this game

I was knocked out of the game by the latest update and cannot retrieve my file . I have invested time and money into the game to lose my Generals Troops and progress. After the latest update I could not update the game, I decided to uninstall and reinstall and now all of my progress is lost. I need a solution ASAP as an Avid player. Please Advise

I sent this over two ago and have not received a response I love the game and the game play, but the is no Support when you it. They take your money, get you hooked on the game and leave you without any solutions or support when you need it.

If this matter gets resolved you can have 5 Stars and if not you do not have to worry about playing a d of your games anymore…..

Have to use strategy to progress, so far haven’t spent any money but it would be easier if I did! It would be nice to have a full pay one in the store.

I think this game is quite fun but can the legionnaires have a skill where they can throw pilum spears once then they can’t do it anymore unless the are supplied by a city.

I like the game, but an update that came out months ago doesn’t allow you to listen to other apps while playing. I use to play the game while commuting or listening to podcasts but since the update I find myself playing it a lot less as it silents all other listening apps. Otherwise, it’s a decent game.

This is my 2nd review I used to think the game was perfect and cost free but the levels get harder and the upgrades to my soldiers can’t keep up this game is asking to much you don’t earn enough gold for free and it’s forcing you to buy overpriced gold which doesn’t make the game fun I’ve only had it for 1 day and I am already forced to buy things.

I have been playing for about 3 days now and it’s a good game but has some problems, first problem is you need gold for practically everything, like make it idk more about the silver instead of gold. Second is about the difficulty, like atleast make a difficulty tweak like easy normal hard and not just one set difficulty on every level because not everyone can beat hard difficulty on a regular basis. But after all that, it’s a decent game.

Wish there were ways to eventually get the generals that are permanently stuck behind a pay wall. Make it like 1600 + gold or something ridiculous but still an option that way I can get some of the cooler generals 🤷🏻‍♂️ just a thought.

I started playing Grand Army a few years back - spent quite a bit of money - gathered many generals including Napoleon. I also play Forge of Empires, spent lots more on that game. I switched phones and lost all my generals in Grand Army - their save or upload feature does not work…period. I was contacted by support and they could not get it fixed. I vowed never to spend a dime for this developer again. Not only because I lost my Generals, but also because their pricing is dumb. They ask too much, if you lowered the price to most generals to $5.99 I would have bought 4 already - I promise. But I refuse to pay $20 for a general or troop - it’s crazy. You are costing yourself with you prices I am sure if it. But keep on…you have a good game and could be better than you are

This is a really fun PlayStation two graphics game. But I feel like it’s incomplete in some ways, I can play a better full version if I just played it on a system where I don’t have to keep seeing ads trying to make me spent money (I haven’t spent a dime yet). It does take a long time to level up unless you spent money but if you complete the daily tasks and upgrades your troops to legendary, you could have a better chance against the future levels (btw it’ll take a very very long time). I don’t like how there is no way of earning the other different troops (only Roman soldiers) and most of the legendary generals in this game, also you have to purchase the females heroes in here where they’re not even legendary heroes (wuss up w/ that!?). I want to buy Cleopatra with gold in the game! Not actual credit card payments, I’m sure she prefers gold in the game anyways.

Rome is a fun challenging game. You definitely get stuck around chapter 3. Either you grind out the same missions over and over or pay money. Would be nice if there were more “beginner” levels to build up your troops and still have the variety of different missions.

This game is very fun, and presents a challenge to users that few other games offer. However, starting in the Punic War (especially on the 7th map) the game becomes impossibly hard. The developers may not mean for it to come off as a “pay to win” game at that point but one can’t help but feel that way. It is so, so hard. I simply don’t have the money to spend on a game, so I’ll have to grind out weeks of daily rewards to try to get what I need to in order to beat this level, only for me to find the next level even more difficult, I have no doubt. There was one reviewer that gave 8 ideas (they were listed out) and I highly encourage his ideas be taken seriously. They would greatly improve this already very fun game, and make it where players want to actually keep playing it instead of giving up after losing over and over.

It’s pretty fun like from mission 1 to 4 but after that it gets rigged like your enemies start summoning units out of nowhere like I was in good shape they had 3 units I had 9 right after that they somehow made 5 units and killed 5 of mine after I killed 1 of theirs so I had 4 and they had 7 in one turn
