The only way to advance is to pay, in some cases large amounts.
The battle system is unrealistic, skirmish units inflict almost as many hits points as elite spear and sword units.
I have removed this game from my devices.
Grind or Pay

Grind levels over and over or pay to upgrade. Gets boring quick unless you pay.

They increase the levels of your opponent as you progress. Only way you can win is if you purchase upgrades which I’ve done multiple times. THEN they just increase the troop experience levels even higher so it’s a never ending merry go round of upgrades. Your troops all start with zero experience the one mission I’m on now for the Punic wars the catharginians are all at 9. You can creat more troops during the battle but they’re all at 0 or 1 going up agains troops that are already at a 9. Their other games are the same thing, you’ll upgrade, spend money then hit a brick wall where it’s just impossible to win.
