There are complaints that RØDECapture requires you to allow location tracking. That was not my experience. It DOES bring you to a page to enable access to your mic and your camera and then there IS a button for location tracking. BUT, when you click on it you are presented with the usual three options of Always On, Allow While Using App, and Never. I choose Never and it still seems to work just fine.

I would second the request for RØDECapture to recall your last settings.

Also, I would find it more useful if I could choose 2 of the forward facing cameras, like Double Take allows, rather than having one forward and one selfie cam.

The best part of RØDECapture is that you can control the gain and other parts of the sound quality of the mic that you use attached to your phone. Based on the audio I would give it a better rating.

Unfortunately the camera is very noisy at all levels and I tried to delete and reinstall RØDECapture to no avail. The zoom on the camera is not great either. The other unfortunate part is my videos are basically unwatchable because I decided to use RØDECapture.

Works alright until your phone goes to sleep. Then the mic is disconnected even after closing RØDECapture unplugging the mic and attempting to restart everything. No sound levels and no idea if it’s recording sound.

So good for one run but if you stop recording and let your phone go to sleep…good luck!

Was using the wireless Go 2 so shouldn’t be any issues. And yes I had the right audio cables.

I finally bought a Rode wireless mic and thought their platform would be superior. The mic is great, but this software is horrible. I just completed a shoot only to discover that it only saved clips randomly. Out of 10 recorded segments only 6 were saved…What a joke! This makes me wonder if Rode is simply living off their reputation and is now just like every other company - willing to release junk just to have something on the market. Sad ☹️

This is a great app, very useful for in the field spontaneous interviews without a crew and still be able to record dual cameras simultaneously, and pair it with the Rode AI Micro and two Rode Mics! Boah! If only a “teleprompter” option would be available for a script to scroll overlaid on the selfie video (or switch back and forth between selfie video and script)! Holy cow…that would be ultimate!

RØDECapture works fine so far in my testing on my phone. Handy for quick captures without resorting to the complexities of Filmic Pro.

But, in 2023 I expect it to work in full screen mode on an iPad Pro…not in the lame, rotation locked format of an iPhone only app. So short-sighted. Fix it please…this is really low hanging fruit.

Not sure why all the negative reviews. Connected to the wireless go II as I have the correct cables. Perhaps a future firmware will allow it to connect wirelessly but I’m not gonna hate. The location argument is overrated and overplayed. You’re being tracked by someone. What’s Rode going to do. Wipe your phone clean or blackmail you?

It’s confusing trying to just record audio without video. The microphone headphone out should have some kind of option for playing the recorded video you’re working on without live mic pickup going at the same time. It should remember your audio settings, or at least compression and such should be on by default. Doesn’t support multitasking, so it’s hard to actually read a script with this.

cool app, i own a few røde mics so i am psyched about thenintegration, and great to see a split cam alternative to the DoubleTake app. it should remember the previous settings including resolution, frame rate, split screen view / lens selection etc

With Filmic having gone the way of subscription, this is a welcome contender :~)

I appreciate the simplicity of the interface but it is missing some features that would make this an easy replacement for Filmic.

• exposure lock
• exposure meters / zebra’s
• zoom rocker
• audio monitoring w/ Rode iXY (even with latency)

The interface is cut off on an iPhone 13 Pro but i imagine this is a bug that will be worked out in time.

Is there a way how to record audio from AirPods? Or change the mic to front or back? I can’t find any options like that. Also how can I change the size of the front camera in dual camera mode?

Sadly RØDECapture needs work. When using rode shotgun mic, and iPhone 15 pro max it decides to switch frame rates, and throws audio out of sync. There needs to be a way to keep frame rates set period. Will be looking into other options. Sometimes it’s great, but when it hits low light outdoors it adjusts frame rate, and screws audio.

All RØDECapture needs is the ability to lock the frame rate all camera apps that are aero use can do this. Please add rode I will use this over other apps 🤗

I’m sure it’s a fine app, but I wouldn’t know because it wouldn’t let me actually use it without enabling location tracking, so I uninstalled. Come on, Røde…It’s a camera!! Camera and microphone access make perfect sense, but why must I turn on location tracking to record video…? Silly choice imo.

RØDECapture is designed well, has great “potential” functionality, but stalls in the middle of recording constantly on an iPhone 13. Lots of bugs, please fix. And stay with it, cause again great potential here!

I use this for vlogging. The PIP works great and the audio using RODE GO and/or RODE MICRO is superb. Would love some more controls, but for simple 2 cam vlogs this is ACES !!!

I’ve been using RØDECapture for months. Sometimes it will just not record any audio. I’ve lost out on some very amazing footage because of RØDECapture. I’m sure there are apps that do similar things that actually work. Do not use RØDECapture.

With all cables app still not recognize the microphones… we tried on 2 different iOS devices, it’s working in voice memos, not on app… it’s over a month and we still cannot use microphones that cost over 300€ with all cables…

I am not able to click the button that allows my phone to give microphone access to RØDECapture , therefore I am unable to use it. Please fix this

I used RØDECapture to record videos for a whole event. Turns out RØDECapture sometimes just decides to stop recording audio so I wasted my entire night of videos with no audio. What kind of video app just stop recording audio? Travesty.

Using this on an iPhone 15 that is only a couple of months old and RØDECapture will just randomly stop recording and throw up error messages. And anything you’ve already recorded is lost. It’s super annoying… How do I give this zero stars? Don’t waste your time.

I thought this was a pretty cool app when I was using it with my RODE wireless ME. Recently I bought a Shure MoveMic and RØDECapture will not work when that is plugged in, it constantly crashes. I will not be using RØDECapture or recommending it anymore.
