Published by on 2024-03-01

About: CollX (pronounced “collects”) answers the question every collector has:
“What’s it worth?” The app lets you scan any baseball, football,
basketball, hockey, soccer, or wrestling card and instantly identify it and get
the average market value. Once you’ve scanned your cards, add them to your
collection and track your portfolio.

About CollX

What is CollX?

CollX is a mobile app designed for collectors to determine the value of their sports cards. The app uses visual search technology to identify the card and provide the current average market price. It also allows users to track their collection, set conditions or grades on their cards, and get more accurate prices. Additionally, users can search for cards in the app's database, connect with other collectors, and buy or sell cards.

Features

- Card scanner: CollX's visual search technology instantly recognizes and matches against a database of 17+ million sports cards. It identifies the best match and provides the current average market price for the card.

- Historical pricing: The app uses millions of historical auction prices to calculate a card's average value. Users can set conditions or grades on their cards to get more accurate prices and track both individual card values and their overall portfolio value.

- Collection tracking: Users can create and keep track of their collection, view it as a grid, list, or sets, and filter and sort their cards by various criteria.

- Card search: Users can search 17+ million cards in the app's database and see what cards are listed for sale right in search results. They can also easily add a card from any of the records in the CollX database.

- Connect with other collectors: Users can connect with other collectors, follow them, message them, and buy or sell cards. They can also invite their friends to join the app and find out what their cards are worth.

I want to Love It…but…

There is a lot of potential here but if CollX constantly crashes all that potential is irrelevant. I can’t even scroll through to view half of my collection without CollX crashing and closing. There is no way to manually add cards not in their data base. Often when the cards are uploading they do not do so in the order you batch scan them and there is no way to manually sort your cards into the correct order. The potential is there but all is for not if they don’t at least fix whatever bug is causing the crashes. I will probably sense use and monitor the situation and only resume use after some improvements. As for now my recommendation is that you should record card values as you go. Don’t rely on the ability to go back later to calculate a value since you’ll find yourself unable to do so due to a relentlessly crashing app…

Loving the app

I love CollX and it’s potential, but I have a lot of cards that I cannot search up on here. Also, wish I could get more prices for these cards because half of them I added to my collection don’t have an available value. The editing a card still doesn’t save half the time and continuously have to to go back and forth to edit the cards. Other than this I’m loving it.

Good 😌 👍🏽 concept

I’ve been using CollX for a few weeks I’ve had a few issues with cards 🃏 not coming up ⬆️ with correct information but, it has a way to correct it also gives me an idea 💡 on what my cards 🃏 approximate value. Not buying any more pricing books. One ☝🏽 other issue is it will not allow me to make my whole collection visible it keeps auto selecting make my entire collection private.

Great price check for sports cards

Found CollX online and was able to take pictures of my old baseball, basketball, and football cards and get price quotes for them in minutes. Now I can finally show my wife that they aren’t worthless!

DON’T USE THIS APP Not very accurate

I have a few Justin Herbert Rookies that are selling for about 100 bucks it said was worth .14 cents, I also scanned a Jalen Hurts mosaic rookie and it told me it was a donruss Leonard Fournette and I have atleast 10-15 more cards that was the wrong team or wrong person even wrong year I scanned a Bernie Williams donruss 1990 rookie and it said it was a 2000 reprint and it’s not, I would not recommend CollX to anyone do not use it stick to your Beckett guides and go to ebay and search your cards and choose sold items to get an accurate price not this garbage Do Not Use

Seems like a few glitches

Added cards to my collection and then they aren’t there. Just says you haven’t added any cards yet. I feel like it’s so hard to explain over text. Tried again and it adds it but it changes it to the second screen and then when you go back to the collection screen your card isn’t there. Unless you click listings, clear all, and then it’s there twice.

Wonderful!

My son and I have had such a great time with CollX! Going through his card collection and finally really seeing what he has has been wonderful. He looks forward to growing his collection!

Read my lips: U S E L E S S

I tried signing in with apple gave me a loading screen for 5 min. Tried signing in with Google gave me a loading screen for 5 min. I tried manually logging in. It said i had an account detected through my email but each password I've ever used didn't work. It said “we emailed u a sign up” there was no email. I can’t use CollX if I can’t get in CollX . As a baseball card collector i was so excited to use this as i had seen in on tv come to find out its a load of disappointment.

Very cool

Scanned a couple of my old baseball cards and got their current value. And can login at anytime to see their updated value. Feels like Robinhood for sports cards. Going to scan in all 5000 cards one of these weekends… 😀

It’s a blast!

I have scanned in around 150 cards almost all of them were automatically identified. I can’t wait to go through my old collection at my parents.

Potential

CollX has potential. However it crashes way to often. Lately it won’t scan any card. And when it does it’s not even the right card. It doesn’t scan newer cards either. I really like it and I hope it is soon fixed. Otherwise I’ll have to just wait until there is a better app.

Scanned 200+ Cards

Scanned over 200 cards and was impressed how quickly they were found and assigned a price. Now I have a real digital collection. Impressive.

Quantity

I love CollX but it doesn’t recognize a few popular cards. It’s still a great app and I will continue to use it. Could you add a quantity box to the cards. I think a lot of collectors have more than one of the same card and I think it would be something cool to add on. Thank you!

Frustrating

CollX has tremendous potential. It needs more cards in data base and prices. It constantly lags and loads. There needs to be a faster more efficient way to upload cards. There some kinks that need to be worked out still.

Great idea and great app

It has been FF in looking at the cards I have had since my youth that were just sitting in the closet. Going to look at selling a few of them next.

By

Awesome!

Great concept. Ive kept all these cards since i was a kid and now have a great place to share these and build an experience w/ my kids. Loads of fun for all of us. And the trading / buying builds in a nice learning angle.

Works like magic!

I love how easy it is to catalog my collection and track the estimated value. Request: I want more marketplace features so I can buy/sell cards.

This is what we need

Well aware that this is a new app and platform being introduced but the new cards and new players do not exist on CollX , fix soon to come I’m hoping! Keep up the work guys we need CollX

Use this

I love using CollX and scanning all my old cards but one thing I don’t know how you sell your cards on CollX plz help me and respond

By

Fast comps!

I dislike using eBay for so many different comps. This is a one stop shop for getting the price of your cards in seconds.

By

Finally ….. a way for me to manage my baseball card collection.

Just discovered CollX. It works great – I can scan my entire collection and get it valued. Amazing.

By

Finally!!!

I’ve been looking for an app like this for years. Can’t wait to scan my full collection into CollX .

Awesome product

Can’t believe this is out there — other products are so expensive and are designed for only investors. This is perfect for collectors & investors alike.

Pretty neat app

Digging CollX! It continues to get better and constantly gets updated to be improved! Solid app for sure!

Pricing

The pricing on the cards are way way off ! Find it hard for a non graded card here is $5.75 but being bought for on average of $174 ! A lot of cards will scan but comes up error or wrong person that is actually on card ! CollX needs a lot of help !

By

Gotta try this great APP!!

Great reference and a lot of fun to scan the old cards with the entire family!!

By

Great app!

Now I finally have a sense of how much my old card collection is worth!

By

Super Fun!

Works perfectly and lots of fun to use! Can't stop adding to my collection.

By

Love it!

Awesome app - scanned my cards quickly and found some gems 👍

By

Such a cool app!!!

This is a great app and I really like the features of the pricing thank you!

By

Great idea.

I like CollX . And it’s a cool idea, but I think the pricing is off. I scanned Lebron James UD, Justin Herbert Panini, Joe Burrow 5 star RCs that are worth .14c a card.

I mean if they really are only worth that than I’m quitting buying cards.

Amazing New Application & Massive Potential

I was literally planning on learning to develop apps just so that I could build an app like this and use it on all my old baseball cards. Then this app came along and answered my prayers.

Obviously this is a new app and I’m sure there is plenty on the roadmap. However, a couple of features that are lacking but I believe would immediately improve user experience are…

1. An actual marketplace tab (unless I’m missing something, it doesn’t appear you can browse cards for sale by other users unless you’re searching for a specific card). A marketplace section with recent listings, browse by category, etc. would be killer.

2. CSV Export/Backup

I see this as an essential feature if this app looks to attract collectors. After scanning 700 cards and spending a lot of time doing so, I assumed this feature would already exist…but it does not (unless again, I’m missing something). I would guess most collectors are passionate about collecting…and protecting. this app is great for collecting, but when it comes to protecting your data…there aren’t many options right now.

Without this feature, I am already becoming hesitant about spending more time using this app (despite loving it), as the absence of this feature means that I could potentially be doing it all for nothing (let’s say the developers choose to change directions, shut down, etc).

This feature would also incentivize me to spend more time scanning and organizing as the utility of doing so would be greatly expanded if the data can be used elsewhere.

3. Import CSV / Bulk Import

I would guess a lot of collectors already have a digital database of their collections, whether done by hand or other means. Offer a CSV upload—provide a template CSV of the format this app needs to do so and let users copy/paste to that format.

If that’s offered, new users with existing databases would probably focus on the utility and UI of this app instead of thinking about all of the work they have to do over again (and thus, would probably uninstall CollX altogether).

Similarly, a bulk photo taking/upload option would be awesome. I’ve been using mounts and auto scanning software on my phone and 700 cards took me quite a long time…and I have about 20,000 more to go.

CONCLUSION

this app is amazing and godsend for collectors. While a few features are missing early on, the current usefulness far surpasses similar applications and CollX ’s potential is extremely exciting!

I suppose that there is no way to scan on a desktop ?

How much is cost for the app ?

Cheryl   1 year ago

Horribly inaccurate on too many cards! It’s fun to scan the cards and keep track, but I had over 100 cards showing values of $15 to $200 that were actually $1 to $3. That’s entirely TOO inaccurate! They should be able to easily recognize whether a card has an autograph or other important detail that makes a huge value difference. They need to fix whatever is causing such a discrepancy.
