What A Day Looks Like in Pokémon Sleep
■ When Night Falls..
I really wanted to enjoy this and I gave it a fair shot, but there's too many issues that can't be overlooked. I used the regular app for tracking the first week, and it would only count 3/7 hours that I slept, if at all. I did exactly as PokémonSleep instructed me, left my phone on my bed next to me while I slept, yet it didn't properly capture, even though it didn't record any sounds. Another issue is the inability to listen or watch anything with PokémonSleep open. It FORCES you to either sleep in silence or use the terrible stock "sleep sounds" they provide; just make it so that you can listen to something, there are PLENTY of apps that allow for recording/microphone usage during video/music streaming. The cash grab is probably the worst. It's 1$ for a poke biscuit (you will on average use 1-5 for baby Pokémon and 10+ on evolved Pokémon). So you have to spend on average around 5$ just to even capture a Pokémon that you randomly encounter after sleeping, and that's without taking into account leveling candies (idea from Pokémon go but more poorly executed), which also cost money. Everything progresses too slow, which is why the game keeps highly incentivizing to pay for the premium pass; yet the premium pass barely even gives you enough either.
I wanted to like this game.

1) I am using the pokemon go plus + I ordered for $60 to track my sleep. It appears to know that i slept form 9pm to 6:30am, but for whatever reason it keeps calculating it to 4 hours of sleep. I dont know if it was the interns job to do calculations for this or something but for whatever reason it only captures the time slept from 9am -12am, I am guessing that someone did the math wrong. PokémonSleep still says i slept from 9pm to 6am, but it doesn't know how to calculate that correctly.
2) Not being able to connect your smart watch is a missed opportunity and will be the reason this fails. Im sorry but the dumb button is not good enough to track your sleep and PokémonSleep fails to calculate sleep correctly anyways. The whole gimmick here is that it can track your sleep and give you data, but if that data is useless there really is no point to the game. Its cute, but the cuteness wears off and PokémonSleep is just not practical. With the data being poor and the inability to add your watch to track the game, it is basically shovelware meant for you to spend your hard earned money on micro transactions to get cookies to catch different pokemon.
In conclusion, dont buy the Pokémon go plus +, and be prepared to be disappointed by the poor performance of this game. I know it hasn't been out for long but it seems like a lot of work is needed to get this game to a point where its worth playing.
Pretty basic failings

It falls short in some of the basic tenants of game design in its tutorial sections. Namely: it forces you to give a rare and highly valued item to Pokémon you probably don’t care about. Emphasizing the importance of a specific item and then forcing users to choose between three Pokémon they don’t like is just a recipe for a bad experience. And frankly, one that is plainly obvious to anyone with a little bit of foresight. We are guaranteed one of the starters on our first night, let us switch to the starter so we can max our friendship with a pokemon we give a crap about. That’s supposed to be the whole point right? The reports take way too long to review, usually because of screens that are slow to fade in, and frankly just way too many screens to go through. So far my experience with the game has only been frustrating (too slow and forcing me to give crummy Pokémon the master biscuit) I just can’t see why I’d waste my time with this game. The tracking is bad, it says you can record two sessions a day but it really only means me because if your session goes across two days it counts for both of those days. So your sleep counts as both a night session for the day you started sleeping and a morning session for the day you woke up. Thought I’d be able to record mid day naps as well, given the wording explicitly says TWO SESSIONS a day
Great Concept Rendered Useless by Lack of Health App Integration and Watch Compatibility

I am very bad at sleeping and most sleep apps give me absolutely no incentive to sleep beyond boring graphs. This was a dream come true. EXCEPT. You can’t use the sleep data from the health app. You can’t use sleep data from your watch. You have to leave your phone screen on all night, facedown on your bed. Not on your nightstand! Because a hard surface will affect how it works apparently. That’s how you start a fire. My phone is going to overheat and I’ll be on the news and they’ll say I shouldn’t have left my phone on my bed. The fire hazard increases greatly if you’re charging your phone while it’s running sitting on your bed all night, if your cord even reaches that far. Plus, with the way I sleep I do not want my multi-hundreds of dollars iPhone with in range of my tossing and turning. It’s going to get launched into the next room. GREAT NEWS, however, for people who want to spend extra money! They sell their OWN external device for somewhere around 50 bucks you can use to track your sleep. You mean to tell me you can’t take my watch data but you CAN sell me your own external device that does the same thing? Idk maybe I’ll buy it I’m desperate for sleep. But I absolutely hate having to leave my phone on all night on a SOFT SURFACE for battery and fire reasons, plus it interferes with the health app tracking because the screen is on.
Second night using it I got a message that I slept already that day and they would only log 2 hours of my sleep even though it was 2:30am. In the morning I went on to log the sleep from last night and got an error message. Tried throughout the day to see if it was a server issue but I don’t think it is. Idk if this has to do with the message that it will only log 2 hours and caused a problem from sleeping past that 2 hours. Deleted and reinstalled and none of the options transferred my data. I don’t remember signing up for an actual account or logging in from Facebook but neither worked.
Terrible Tracking System
2024-02-07
by Pizzahy
I usually sleep at night and take one nap each day. Pokémon plus+ tracks two sessions each day so I thought it’d be perfect. On Friday I fell asleep after 4am and take a nap that day. Saturday I fall asleep at 2am and wake up at 8, only for PokémonSleep to tell me I’ve already tracked 2 sessions for the day and then it deleted all my data. So I have to manually add the data and it shows up for Saturday in PokémonSleep but says “Friday” in the data tab. Saturday during the day I take a nap. I wake up Sunday after going to sleep around 2:30am and I’m being told I’ve already tracked 2 sleeping sessions and that it’s deleting my data again?
First of all, I paid money for the stupid Pokémon plus+, I should at least be able to see the data if I’ve tracked more than 2 sessions in one day. Secondly, why does data count for more than 2 days?? Please fix your app and allow for sleep data to be viewed if you have more than 2 sessions already recorded, especially since I didn’t have 2 sessions already recorded. And fix the tracking system since it’s obviously flawed.

Puts inventory at a pay wall. You’re punished for wanting to reserve some items. You get the free in game currency very rarely and it’s not enough to pay for anything (including Pokémon storage and your item box).
They had a recent event where you had to check the general store every day to grab an item that was 0 diamonds. I missed this event the whole week because I didn’t realize it was every day and there was no notification dot or indication that there was anything free to grab from the general store. It forces you to check it on your own and puts you in the habit of going into the store to hopefully make purchases. It’s predatory and disgusting and I’m annoyed. Why wouldn’t y’all just send free rewards in the mail for us to claim when WE want to or something like a login bonus/stamp card? It’s DUMB that you don’t have a notification dot or indication for free items. It makes me think that you don’t want us to have them in the first place. Which is why inventory is behind a pay wall.
I cancelled my membership and I wish I could refund the $200 I spent on this game. Don’t bother with PokémonSleep, use a real sleep tracking app instead of this game that pretends to be “healthy”. No real healthy app promoting real good health would be as cash grabby and predatory as this.
Needs to support apple sleep data
2024-03-31
by SpecSquirrel
Apple devices already track sleep data. I wear my Apple Watch to sleep and have been passively monitoring my data for years. I expected PokémonSleep to be able to just use that data and make it more fun, but it doesn’t. With how easy it has been to collect sleep data, I don’t want a new chore to manually start each night. I also don’t want to leave my phone on and recording audio.
Until PokémonSleep can use the existing data, which is likely better than what it is collecting, I have no plans to use it. Again I would love to wake up and see some Pokémon each morning based on how I slept, but it’s not worth the extra hassle PokémonSleep requires.
Also to clarify, I do not want a dedicated Apple Watch app, I want the existing phone app to be able to read sleep data from the health app.
Nice concept, horrible sleep tracking

This is on the worst app to sleep track. Several flaws. No apple watch support or anything except for the pricey pokemon go plus. You have one of the best sleep tracking and health devices on your wrist your apple watch and you can’t use a sleep tracking app on it. I don’t want to have my phone overheating at night, charging with the screen on It will led to burning pixels on oled screens. Nice concept but the worst ever sleep tracking I have ever seen. It doesn’t recognize right when you’re sleeping and when you don’t. I sleep more than six hours and It didn’t register more thank 1 hour. Next time sleep 3 hours only register 15 minutes. Is just kinda stupid and app supposed to help you monitor your sleep can’t even do the first thing. I’m only seeing a new way to get money from Pokemon. It needs a lot of work.
I have bought the sleep tracking device and have the trial for the premium service. I have tried to collect sleep data everyday for a week. I have two sleep tracking sessions and they’re both daytime naps. When I wake up from nightly sleep and connect the plus plus it sees the sleep data and tries to collect it. At that point my app gets stuck on a loading screen for up to ten minutes. Then I have to force quit PokémonSleep and restart it. Which loses the sleep data for some reason?? I’m pretty unimpressed with spending 65 bucks for a sleep tracker that doesn’t work.
Not being able to turn off phone is awful

Leaving your phone running all night on the charger is awful for your battery life. If there was an option to just start tracking sleep and turn your phone off and then come back in the morning and end tracking, that would be much better. As of now, I can’t even enjoy the game because I don’t want my phone overheating during the night trying to track my sleep.
Yikes

An app that requires you to leave the mic and screen on all night is pretty terrible. It would be better if it could work without mic and screen, even if it leads to less accurate results, considering it's primarily a game. If it could connect to health app data on the iPhone that can already do basic sleep tracking that would be an improvement (though I'd rather not have to have both apps).
Still frustrated.

I know the goal is to have good sleeping habits, but it’s particularly annoying when I forget to start tracking one night, wake up a couple hours after falling asleep, starting a session then, and then being unable to track my full night’s sleep when I go to bed on time and remember to start PokémonSleep . Appreciate the shortening of the animations or allowing to skip at least before going to sleep (hence 2 stars instead of 1), but tracking sleep sessions is frustrating because a 24 hour timer prevents me from getting credit for my full night’s sleep. Especially when it happens on the “good sleep” nights that happen once a month. I suppose I’m supposed to just miss the whole night of sleep and add it in after, despite it yielding much less benefit than if I were to start tracking in the middle of the night and actually get something out of it. Feels like kind of a backhand for wanting the benefits of the sleep I’m actually getting, but missing because I forgot to start PokémonSleep . I’d be willing to pay for a feature that allowed me to just import the sleep tracking that my Apple Watch already does for me. I’d forget to put my Apple Watch on significantly less often than I forget to start the sleep tracking. It may not look as good because the sleep tracking would be more accurate, but at least I wouldn’t miss out on the benefits of the game.
Deeply flawed and predatory

by A. Otting
I really liked this game the first two nights I used it. It made me excited to get to bed, but I’m about ready to uninstall it. Here’s why: 1. To track your sleep you either need to buy the Pokémon Go++ which is $60, or you need to keep your phone in bed with you and leave the screen ON. When I grab it in the morning, my phone is hotter than it really should be, and the tracking isn’t even very accurate. 2. After a night’s sleep you get to see what Pokémon came and slept nearby and have a chance to befriend them with biscuits that are worth varying amounts of friendship points. If they become full friendship, then they join your team. The problem is that Pokémon can become full at any point, even after one biscuit, so you can give your best biscuit to a Pokémon and they become full and you do not get to take them or your biscuit back. You can buy higher quality biscuits with more friendship points, but the pricing is REALLY inflated and predatory. So I have had 3 mornings where I don’t get to take any Pokémon home. This is such a frustrating mechanic. 3. You cannot listen to music, podcasts, or any other media while using PokémonSleep, and that includes while the sleep tracker is going. I’m someone that likes to fall asleep to podcasts or even white noise playing on my phone, but that’s not possible if you want to track your sleep. This is ridiculous, and unforgivable paired with the other points I’ve brought up above.
I love PokémonSleep , it’s incredibly cute and offers a free version of what many other sleep apps charge money more (most notable the alarm that tries to wake you up during the light parts of your sleep cycle so you don’t interrupt a deep sleep and wake up tired) HOWEVER: The controls are simply awful. If you thought you could just swipe across the screen to look around and view your camp, check on your pokemon and cook for snorlax, get ready to frantically swipe your screen, because for SOME reason, the scroll speed is less than half of your typical 1:1 swipe and scroll ratio. I don’t know if they did this to make the scrolling more “smooth” (if anything it only made it choppier because i have so much trouble scrolling around the camp) or if they did it to make it more “lazy” and “sleepy” but i would like to simply be able to log on, set my timer so i can go to bed reasonably fast, and be able to wake up and tend to the pokemon quickly so I can start my day and get to work. But for some reason i have to swipe around 3x more than i would on any other app just to look around and scroll up and down. And collecting berries from pokemon? Good luck, because sometimes the game lets you swipe the pile of berries to gather them, but MOST of the time it just scrolls the camera instead! So you have to TAP. EACH. INDIVIDUAL. BERRY. TO PICK THEM UP.
Good at what it does but some design flaws

by Annalise11
I genuinely think this is good at tracking sleep but overall some genuine design issues. When using the phone you risk it falling off the bed which happened to me and cracked my charger and the Pokémon go plus + is not an option for me because that also would fall off the bed and never be seen again as well as I own a ferret which would stash the super small piece of tech and it would never be seen again but not everyone does so that’s just a me and a few select people problem. They haven’t taken into account people who move and fidget a lot in their sleep and hit and kick things around them. I tend to move my arms and hands a lot and roll a bunch which is what caused my phone to fall and crack my charger. Honestly I’m happy I’m able to track my sleep and play Pokémon at the same time but those issues needs to be addressed which those could be a massive turn off for lots of people. If they made it to where you could put it on the nightstand or pair with an Apple Watch or something that attaches to the wrist that would be better than a little disc that would be sent into the depths of under the bed. Edit: fully broke a charger, absolutely needs to be able to be paired to a smartwatch.

With some issues in the mechanic balancing of the game (Pokémon energy and such) that seem to be noticed to be addressed in the future by the team; it leaves the impossibility of achieving anything without spending money. Catching/befriending pokemon in this game is such a slow process that leaves you feeling dissapointed in the AM. You collect berries, cook, and track your sleep for this anticipated reward of getting Pokémon visiting to potentially join your team. Except you can’t befriend any because you only have one to two biscuits, which are never enough without a Pokémon being flagged as ‘hungry’. I have the pass and still feel like I’m struggling to keep up with the enjoyment of what this game has to offer. And of course the shop prices are INSANE. Like, crazy prices for what you’re ‘getting’.. The game takes clear advantage of your love for Pokémon to make money and feels very reminiscent of the issues with gacha games. A speaking of gacha; you basically roll stats/skills on Pokémon that make it either good or bad with insane milestones to access them. So catch that pichu that finally showed up from last week (if you slept the correct style again) and it has terrible stats that makes it not helpful at all other than having it be cute. A very obvious gach-eque tactic for money which is extremely sad to see on a Pokémon game.
Is your sleep less than perfect? This game hates you personally.

TLDR: Pokémon Sleep doesn’t care that disordered sleep exists and if you suffer from it, the game is *actively designed* to be less fun and engaging because of it. I have spent 421hrs sleeping along with PokémonSleep. And in those 421hrs I have slumbered. I am just a slumbering girl and I cannot change that about myself. I have sleep-related disorders and am getting the healthiest and most regular sleep of my life, but the experience of PokémonSleep remains underwhelming at best and unfun at worst because of how my individual human body works. And that’s incredibly disappointing! Pokémon Sleep actively punishes players who have particular sleeping patterns, or at least puts us at a severe disadvantage and ultimately makes the game unfun. I have seen the same dang Pokémon over and over again, and there is literally nothing I can do to change that. I keep using PokémonSleep in the hopes of being able to complete the dex, but after 421hrs I now believe it’s impossible because the game is designed so rigorously around completely impractical and unrealistic expectations about sleeping health. If you have well regulated sleep, congrats and enjoy completing the dex because evidently your experience is the only one that matters to PokémonSleep’s developers. Pro: Microtransactions are, at the time of writing, entirely avoidable.
Game features are fun but not reliable for sleep tracking
2024-04-04
by Shoe1980
I got this more for the game features, but don’t think advertising as a sleep tracking is truthful. PokémonSleep doesn’t track sleep well, as long as it is in running in sleep mode it thinks your asleep even when you are not. It definitely regularly records my dog snoring and assumes it me. You cannot use other apps for noise while using without it kicking out of the sleep mode. I have anxiety and adhd so noise is a big part of nightly routine and helping me fall asleep and stay asleep. I generally have noise that turns off on a sleep timer to help me calm down and fall asleep that not possible with to do that if so need run the noise on my phone and run PokémonSleep. I could purchase another device but I personally don’t like hauling a bunch of devices if I can do it all with one. I also don’t feel PokémonSleep is accurate because it doesn’t sense that much motion and it not taking heart or oxygen rates into consideration. Which is acceptable for game but not something advertised for sleep tracking. I also agree PokémonSleep cause the phone to run warmer which is also a concern since it is recommended the phone needs to be on next to you on a soft surface. While fires started by devices are less common now there still is a risk factor. I think many of the obstacles could be overcome and I hope future updates will address these issues.
The game seems simple enough. Feed your snorlax, sleep well, and collect the cute Pokémon you see along the way.
But to see more and rarer Pokémon, you need to raise your snorlax’s score by feeding it a constant stream of berries which can be done at any point, as well as 3 square meals a day. While it gives you a six hour window to do this, once before noon, once before 6PM, and once before 6AM, between the ingredient number requirements and the fact that you can’t alter these rigid times to fit your schedule, you’re going to find yourself at 12:30 or 6:45 cursing at yourself because you were trying to hold back until you had more ingredients and now entirely missed your window. Add in that if you have a weird sleep schedule, the game may count your sleep towards the next day’s progression, the fact that the game refuses to work outside of what it considers a decent schedule and also expects you to play at least three times a day will make this game go from cute and simplistic to just plain annoying fast.
Add in that the game has not just microtransactions for an in game currency used to buy extra inventory slots, but also an optional monthly subscription that lets you access a store that lets you buy the game’s equivalent of a Great Ball, and you have something that just feels more like an insulting cash grab geared towards kids than other related games in the franchise.
Game is way too slow
2025-08-24
by Colehiggins
This game has an obscene amount of unskippable cutscenes that really eat into your time and detract from the value of the game. A mobile game is best when you have some sort of control over your time, and repeated menus, slow unskippable animations and bad placement take that control away from you.
For example, if you are about to fall asleep but want to use PokémonSleep , you load up PokémonSleep have to press start, it loads again, you get an unskippable scene if your snorlax grew followed by two ok buttons that aren’t tappable immediately. Then you have to tap each your team members individually in order to get their ingredients and berries, but if they have a candy or skill, you get an unskippable animation, before you can collect anything. Then you have to collect the berries by swiping but swiping also moves the screen so it takes a couple tries. You don’t feel like waiting for something to cook so you skip that part so you can go to bed but as soon as you press “sleep” you get locked into another unskippable animation of snorlax eating, two more ok buttons and then ANOTHER unskippable animation that teases you with a “skip” button in the top right that doesn’t do anything. You can finally set the game down and go to sleep but the entire process can take upwards of 10 minutes.
This whole process would be streamlined by allowing you to tap to skip animations.
Decent idea, poor execution.

I like the idea of PokémonSleep. It’s low key fun and promotes healthy sleeping habits. The mechanics are interesting albeit overwhelming and a bit convoluted at times.
One of the main problem is PokémonSleep doesn’t seem to work unless it’s in your bed right next to you. When placed on the night stand and PokémonSleep stops working at exactly 4 hours. And when you use it bed and not plugged in (I use wireless charging overnight) it drained the battery down to about 35% which means it needs to be charged before going out for the day.
I think the biggest flaw is that it does not have apple health integration to input sleep. It blows my mind this is not a thing. My watch already records my sleep fairly accurately, so why not just use that to gather data. I get they want to keep users in PokémonSleep , however, Pokémon GO has adventure sync and integration into apple health. I think this is a huge miss and the main reason I’ve already deleted PokémonSleep .

I’ve been using PokémonSleep since last Wednesday I believe so it’s been about 5 days of using PokémonSleep & there was a recent update with the game. I tried to use the sleep feature last night but it said there was maintenance so it said I could still sleep with maintenance on so I did but I usually scroll through my phone for a bit before I fall asleep. I tried to go back into PokémonSleep & it closed out PokémonSleep which is fine.. was waiting for it to restart & I could not get past the screen with snorlax & it says “tap to continue” I just closed PokémonSleep and went to sleep thinking it would be by the next morning. I woke up today still the same problem. I deleted PokémonSleep & reinstalled hoping that would fix it & once I tried to transfer my existing data over with 2 shiny Pokémon in it.. it said there was no existing data found. So basically I lost all my progress in the game & it annoyed me so I just gave up . I don’t know if it was cause of the “bug fixes” update or whatnot but I lost everything I got & even put money into the game too so I wonder where all that went.. very disappointed & irritated by that outcome.
Can’t listen to other audio because mic is on
2025-08-17
by Lillian FS
I go to sleep by listening to audiobooks, which helps me focus and relax. I have a lot more trouble sleeping without audiobooks, and no music or white noise works for me. Since PokémonSleep actually records me while I sleep (which already made me feel a bit uncomfortable), I can’t play my audiobook and have PokémonSleep going at the same time. Until PokémonSleep introduces a feature to allow me to play my own audio through it, or doesn’t require the mic to be on, it’s unusable for me. And here I was really excited to see Pokémon sleeping by me when I woke up…
They already want players to spend money since it just started. Game passes and cookies and stuffs, hopefully it won’t be like Niantic with Pokemon Go. Let’s see how long this game would last, because keeping the phone near while charging is kinda dangerous, and it needs to open the whole night. Recording the sounds around, it seems sketchy and scary for the researchers that using the apps to learn more about everything and everyone. The moment someone hacks into the systems, which seems kinda easy. We are screwed! Private information.
It’s alright

by GeckoObessedToaster
I mean it’s okay? Not for me to be honest, not a fan for the fact you have to leave your phone on and next to you while you sleep so it hears you? That’s just gonna drain my battery. I kinda get that you have to leave your phone on but I’m restless sleeper, I’m gonna knock it off my bed. If you don’t knock your phone off it has a high chance of overheating or keeping you awake (atleast for me).
About the game itself, it has an okish story, then again i didn’t really come here for a story. I like the designs a bit. I also noticed while playing, it was rather laggy, didn’t seem to run well.
Overall, Pokemon Sleep seems to be a glorified alarm clock with nostalgic creatures that you can collect or buy.
I Really Want to Like This

by Drp0rt3r
I really want to like this game, but it needs a major update in my opinion. First, you either need to purchase the button or keep your phone on your mattress, but either way the tracker must be in bed with you to fully record the sleep session. I have a wireless charger on my bedside table so the maximum amount of sleep it will give me is 4 hours. It also isn’t great if you sleep with a partner because it uses recorded sound to monitor your sleep cycle. So if your partner snores like mine does, it will pick up that instead. I already track my sleep through another app on my watch - why can’t the game just use that data? It’s frustrating to sleep 8+ hours a night and get a low score because of these mechanics. Additionally I find the screens to be clunky at best and the load times are pretty long for an app. I find myself trying to tap through the reports as quickly as possible because it takes so long to go through everything. All in all, I think I’ll be shelving this until some improvements are made.
Too Complicated for a Sleep Tracking App

I've had PokémonSleep for three or four days and it's been simultaneously the cutest and most frustrating app on my phone.
The concept of sleeping next to pokemon is adorable, researching how pokemon sleep while PokémonSleep tracks how we sleep? Adorable.
The tutorials are too long, in the way, too much. All of these added features to make PokémonSleep more like a game than a tracker. Then when try to use the sleep feature PokémonSleep doesn't allow me to access my data??? Forcing me to go through eight more tutorials for an app that allows you to sleep next to pokemon. It's not worth it. Just make an actual game and don't advertise it as a sleep tracker.
Not leaving my screen on

You are insane to think anyone will leave their phone unlocked and on their mattress all night. That’s how data gets stolen and phones get broken. Not giving you more money for another device either. You can absorb the health data from Apple Health using my watch to track my sleep cycle.
The phone has to be on constantly can not be put to sleep.

Ok first off, I will say that PokémonSleep has helped me with getting to bed consistently and waking up feeling refreshed. And some of the pokemon sleep styles are kinda cute. But that’s where my praise ends. For starters, if you are a phone user (like myself), there seems to be an inconsistency when it comes to actually tracking sleep. I have had several nights where that app says I've woken up at like 5:30 or 5 in the morning when in actuality, i wake up at 6 everyday (except on days off where the same problem happens).
I tend to be a restless sleeper and thought at first, my problem was bouncing the phone around in my sleep. But since I try to move less now, I still have the same tracking problems, but am now locked into getting exclusively slumbering type styles. Balancing type if I'm lucky enough.
I’ve even thought about getting the Go+ device but from the reviews I've read even that has its problems with tracking. If I knew it wouldn’t botch things further, I’d just simply put it on my bed shelf behind me but that’s not the intended way to play. I want to keep playing as full moon sleep and new pokemon are coming soon but this whole not tracking sleep thing is really swaying me towards uninstalling…
Great Idea Poor Execution

by Sirpokechu
I’ve been playing this game for about a month now and I think it’s a great game, it does its job of trying to get me to get more sleep. The main issue I see with this game is the feeding and collection of resources, right before you go to bed if you want to upgrade your snorlax to get better sleeping pokémon when you wake up you have to spend fiveish minutes clicking on stuff and making snorlax food. This is a great feature and all except when i’m about to go to sleep i’m very tired which makes doing this section of the game very demotivating and feel like a chore, the pokémon all have animations you have to wait for, usually your bag is full so you have to go make snorlax food and then continue picking up resources, it’s just altogether very boring. Another issue i’ve found is the time it takes to evolve and level up your helper pokémon. As I mentioned before, i’ve been playing for about a month, so far i’ve evolved one pokémon which was my totodile to a croconaw, this took me three weeks to do and ontop of that i used all of my rare candy items i received from quests on him. The process is very slow and parts of the game feels like a chore when i just want to go to sleep and hopefully find a shiny pokémon the next day.
I have no idea what I’m doing

This game is very cute and does it’s basic goal of encouraging players to sleep regularly and well.
But I don’t know what’s going on otherwise. I’m getting all these items, all these gauges are filling up, I’m getting all these currencies like diamonds and shards that I don’t know what to do with. What’s going on?? Am I supposed to be “training” Pokémon by sleeping? Am I supposed to be “catching” Pokémon? It seems unclear to me. What does cooking do? And there’s diamonds and shards and points and berries and strength etc etc. why are there so many different currencies to keep track of??
I’d say the tutorial was thorough but it’s a tough tutorial to start WHEN IM TRYING TO GO SLEEP! There was so much talking! If you’re a player and you see this review, be SURE to start the game BEFORE you want to sleep. Don’t do it once you’re already in bed, there’s too much to learn.
Nonetheless, I’m a big Pokémon fan and I definitely need to get more sleep. So I will be using PokémonSleep pretty often.
It doesn’t seem to match my other sleep apps, however. I have two other sleep apps, running on my phone that are giving me similar results and this game is not giving me the same result. Last night both the other apps told me I was asleep for 89% of the time, but Pokémon Sleep told me only 47%. How is there such a big discrepancy? Does Sleep use a microphone at all? Or ONLY the mattress reactions?
Fun but buggy

by Külé Bochiball
It’s a fun daily game that can be low maintenance, but it can also be really slow and buggy for what it’s worth. They don’t have a report a bug feature in PokémonSleep so I’m just going to complain here. My biggest issue with PokémonSleep is how slow the popups are. Every time you level up Snorlax you have to hit Ok 3 different times before you can resume playing/collecting ingredients/sleeping/etc. and it takes at least 15 seconds between each button, which can be a serious pain if you’re trying to play while you’re in a rush (like at work or right before bed). In fact I’ve lost sleep data due to that feature several times when I’m trying to start recording my sleep data. If Snorlax levels up before starting to record sleep data, the pop up will appear instead of sleep mode. If you put your phone down before the pop up appears and assume sleep mode is starting, you might miss a full nights worth of sleep data (like I have multiple times) which results in your Pokémon being too tired to function the next day and no chance to catch new Pokémon. Please fix this issue to make the game faster and more enjoyable. I don’t always have 10 minutes to watch Snorlax level up from basic 3 to great 2 especially if I’m trying to go to bed.
Other things about this game straight up do not make sense either. Why is the theme blue if blue light is specifically proven to inhibit quality of sleep, for example? Make it make sense Pokémon.
This is on it’s way to becoming the next popular Pokémon game, but they’re are some minor things I want to point out. First, PokémonSleep doesn’t work without internet, but you can turn off the internet after starting your sleep session, and turn it off before ending your sleep session if your worried about that. When you are on a vacation is somewhere with no signal for more than 30 hours, than you can’t track your sleep. A positive thing to point out is that if you forgot to track your sleep data for one night, then you have 30 hours to recover your sleep data. Second of all, if you forgot to plug in your phone at night, then PokémonSleep uses lots of battery. A lot of sleep apps that I know of only uses 30% battery at night, while PokémonSleep might use that in an hour! If you charge your phone at night, though, then you’ll be fine. Thirdly, the premium subscription is way too expensive, so think about whether you need it or not before buying it. Finally, on PokémonSleep Store, this says that this is a simulation game, but this is actually a health and fitness game. I would recommend changing the category to that on PokémonSleep Store. Pokémon sleep is still a great app to use though, if your fine with all of the stuff that I mentioned!
Needs More Features

by Zan2004
I like it overall but requires you to remember to set things up before you sleep. Also another issue is not everyone has a standard of appropriate sleep so it’s kinda hard to advance in the game if you have disrupted sleeping, not needing the average sleep hours or just other sleeping patterns, habits and or disorders, that just make it hard to advance. In order for some features it requires you to use a device sold separately which tends to end up under me and I never get appropriate data for so many reasons. I’m not sure if you can track sleep by using your phone near you I question fire safety with that. But overall I really wished it had interventions with health apps such as the apple & google health apps which have other sleep data collection ect. It be nice to have sleep data to be both added and taken from these services to help PokémonSleep . As often times I have my watch on when I’m asleep collecting data hands free and effortlessly it be a added bonus to have that data be used as well in the events I forget to set up the required sleep collection method. Overall it’s fun for a bit and the Pokémon go integration is a bonus and a bit more incentive, but PokémonSleep gets old and boring even with the events. Work on the sleep collection and PokémonSleep would vastly improve.
Great Concept! BUT UNFAIR.

by Arty0130
The music and art design is great. It’s cute and very pretty looking. The concept itself is very interesting. Pokemon really thought outside the box with this game. However, there is major greed in place with this game. Every morning you get a bonus biscuit, it gives the Pokémon +3 friendship. However, if you give it one PokeBall biscuit it only gets +1. That is totally fine. It goes up from there for each PokeBall type. However, the Pokemon gets full after one PokeBall biscuit and you can’t feed it anymore thus you can’t befriend the Pokemon until apparently next time it appears I’m guessing? That is incredibly annoying. You can buy a GreatBall biscuit which it’ll give +2 friendship. Therefore one bonus and one GreatBall unlocks befriends the Pokemon. But it’s insanely expensive to buy GreatBall biscuits. It just isn’t fair and it’s making me want to quit already. They need to lower the prices or increase the Pokemon’s hunger. I already missed out on two Pokémon I really wanted and they haven’t returned yet.
Just a concern

Y’all say leave your phone plugged in next to you on your bed in the guide. There is a warning not to leave it under your blanket for overheating but either ways if it’s plugged in on top of a bunch of cloth comforters in the summer, it gonna get hot. Shouldn’t be a big deal to leave next to your bed on a desk or whenever but then it only records 4 hours of sleep then cuts off. Guessing it’s a way to prevent cheating but seems like the system still needs some work.
Needs Louder Alarms
2026-11-29
by FreddyFaptitsMLG420
The alarm in app doesn't allow my regular Alarm to play, and the in game alarm is Like 0 decibels even at 100% volume. So i will be unable to use PokémonSleep until the weekend, which only allows for data collection 2days out of 7 which is lame.
I have to wake up for work. And my phone is my alarm. Add alarm sounds with MUCH louder volume
I used it for the first time last night, I know it’s brand new but when I went to submit my sleep information it says it was closed during the night and it wasn’t!. So none of my sleep got submitted 😡. I was excited to see what the results were. Im going to try one more time.
Great Idea Just Needs Less bugs

I think the idea for PokémonSleep is great and it is fun for the few minutes of gameplay after waking up and throughout the day when you pop in to feed your pokémon, however the amount of times that i have lost sleep data due to PokémonSleep crashing and even having trouble opening PokémonSleep sometimes cause me to have some frustrations. Being able to progress is locked behind how much you sleep and if the game fails to track your sleep then you’ve just lost 8 hours and can’t try again till the next day, or put your phone out of commission for 8 hours during the day. Very frustrating when it doesn’t track properly
Uh well...

Really liked the new idea of tracking sleep and doing a new type of research. But so far it's kind of eh in my one week of trying this game out. Theres really not much to do when you're awake and I honestly forgot about the other parts of the game besides the setting up to track my sleep. That being said, I've found some flaws with the sleep portion too. I thought it would catch me if I snored or something which would've been funny to hear in the morning but all its ever caught so far was if the pillow rubbed against the phone. That and it's overheated my phone since you have to keep PokémonSleep on and running all night long. Nice try Pokemon, truly was a great new idea but really needs some tweaking.
Tracking is Off

It’s a interesting idea to track your sleep and turn it into collecting Pokémon but the design is flaw. It has be really close to you to track your sleep so I think it track by noise that PokémonSleep hears which isn’t accurate. I had like 2 hours untracked time each night. I do like that I can hear noises while I sleep to see if I sleep talk or what not but it was just me rolling around in bed. I think this might be a lot better if they intergraded Apple Watch or Fitbit so it track heartbeats rather than noise.
Issues

by KyogreRulz
Would be neat if it worked more than 33% of the time
More often than not PokémonSleep tells me “No valid sleep sessions were found”
Online searching says this could be due to too much movement or noise, which you literally cannot control once you are asleep. Massive oversight and PokémonSleep is basically unusable for me. Logging sleep sessions manually also does nothing unless you have the paid subscription, because of course you’d have to pay for that
I really like PokémonSleep! There are two things I wish it did though that would really make me want to use it every single night. The first is Apple Watch integration— I’ve used other apps that sync with health and gather key sleep data with it that helps a ton. Second is id love to be able to play my own audio while using PokémonSleep. Sometimes I listen to calming sleep sounds or guides, and only one little lullaby track doesn’t really help me sleep. Also if I had the option to have it record with out it always open that’d be huge! Good bones, but looking forward to more functionality.
Love the concept but

I love the idea with sleep tracking and my love of Pokémon, but I feel like as with most other apps, there should be a way to continue running PokémonSleep in the background and track sleep. I’m someone that uses Calm Sleep stories to help me fall asleep, and as of writing this, I can either fall asleep with Calm and guess with math for how long, or use the sleep tracker app to track the sleep I’d barely get without the audio I use. I can’t use both optimally.
Don’t get me wrong I love the concept of putting PokémonSleep together and I have faith that as time goes on and updates pass, it’ll only get better. But my advice to the Devs is either 1). Figure out a way for PokémonSleep to continue tracking sleep while other apps are in use to help get to sleep 2). Add a variety of pleasant sounds, doesn’t have to be Pokemon sleep stories (although that would be cool) it could just be rain or a cafe or something 3). All of the above
TLDR: I rated it three stars because as much as I love the concept, I’m not the audience for PokémonSleep. Originally I rated it two but I added a third star because PokémonSleep just released and I have faith it will get better over time.
Glitch with adding data
2027-08-12
by Mortoboe
PokémonSleep didn’t track my sleep one night and i was super yoset because it’s not like i can just go BACK TO SLEEP for 8 hours to get my pokémon for the day. it wasn’t until 6pm that i realized i could add in a sleep session! hurrah!
but when doing the drop down menus on the time slots it kept telling me i can only add time within the last 30 hours (it’s only been 13ish) and wouldn’t save the time and it would make me back out/hit cancel to try and set the other wake up time. it refuses to actually let me set the time i slept and i don’t understand why.
A few key problems
2027-11-05
by Mesrour
First off, as someone who sometimes struggles to keep herself to a bedtime schedule, I love the idea of PokémonSleep. It makes me *excited* to go to sleep, which is something I can’t say for myself in the past.
However… I have two big problems with PokémonSleep. (I actually don’t mind the phone on the bed thing.) 1. I hate that I can’t play other audio media at the same time as I track my sleep — I usually fall asleep to white noise or podcasts so this has been a huge adjustment for me. If there was an option to turn off PokémonSleep tracking noises in a trade-off for allowing media to play, I’d do that in a heartbeat. 2. The system that determines which Pokémon come visit you is pretty disappointing. I currently am sleeping on a softer mattress than I’d like, so that causes me to toss and turn a lot in my sleep because my body is trying to minimize the strain that the mattress is putting on me. Because I can’t buy a new mattress right now, this means that almost all of the Pokémon I’m seeing are classified as “Dozing.” I’ve seen so many repeats and I’m starting to worry I won’t see a lot of the Pokémon in the game, just because of my current circumstances.
Too expensive
2027-11-03
by Thinkpointdraw
I know this is Pokemon but this game is way to expensive to play. The premium pass doesn’t seem worth $50 dollars every 6 months and $100 dollars a year for what you get from the premium pass. On top of that the amount of sleep points you earn per night is not enough to be able to get biscuits or food items when you’ve run out. I think it’s nice that we get one free biscuit but since the game allows two sleep sessions you should be able to get one free biscuit per sleep session. Also getting 3 gifts every 3 months for the premium pass is also silly I guess that’s to try to push the 5 month subscription vs the monthly one. The game is cute and fun and I know it’s not meant to be rushed it’s a sleeping game, however it’s way to slow paced and again, hard to keep up with the demands of the game like feeding your snorlax when you run out of ingredients so fast and aren’t able to gather them fast enough. Also not being able to encounter certain Pokémon due to your sleep style isn’t fair to people who might have sleeping disorders. At least make an item that attracts certain Pokémon from each sleep style.
PokémonSleep is wonderful and makes falling asleep fun for me! However the only problem I have with it is the 4 am reset. PokémonSleep only lets you have 2 sleep sessions a day, and at 4 am your time your allowed sleep sessions will reset. Now I thought this would be fixed by having your bedtime set to late at night, but that actually does nothing.
For a person who is a night owl, works primarily best during nights, etc, it’s quite annoying and upsetting thinking you’ll be able to track how much sleep you’ll get. But if you have a short amount of hours of sleep in your first session (say 4 hours), PokémonSleep will only track and count your next session for the 4 hours even if you slept for 8 hours.
Please fix this issue and make it so we can make our own reset times or take off the 2 sessions limit. For an app that seems so open to all different sleeps, this is not welcoming to erratic sleep patterns. There’s other issues outside of just this, but others have already talked about it, other than these issues, I think its a great app.
Cute But Unusable For Me and Others
2028-01-05
by Samclover
I think PokémonSleep is very cute and a great concept. I understand wanting to use the microphone to record sleep etc so that it is accurate, but I cannot use it because I need rain sounds to fall asleep, like a lot of others. PokémonSleep does not allow white noise or anything to play while it is open, so it makes it unusable for me and a lot of others. If there was a way to change it to allow background app sound play or to start a sleep session and then close your phone with the white noise playing , and after your sleep session end it, then I would love that. I was super excited to use but it just is unusable for me. If you could make it so the audio recording function is an option and that PokémonSleep just needs to press start in order to record sleep and stop to end, instead of having to keep it open and your phone open with no option for background music. I really hope the developers take these suggestions into consideration, because I know a lot of more people would use it and it would be more accessible. Thank you!
Pop-Up Haven

by Slightly Frustrated Consumer
Love the idea of this game being a quick lil mission three times a day. I do play this game almost exactly how intended, but I am slowly feeling more averse due to the ridiculous amount of pop-ups and slow menuing. I wake up in the morning to cash in on my research, I want this to be quick so I can get started with my day. There are 4 main tasks that NEED to be done for optimal play at this time: take pictures, feed biscuits, collect berries and feed Snorlax. It took me 6 minutes to do these things as fast as possible one morning. There are no physical mechanics to this game, all you ever do is make decisions and click the corresponding buttons. I’ve been playing this game for close to three months now so all the decisions I do need to make for this game are basically pre determined. A seasoned player who knows the core mechanics of this game does NOT need to sit through the progress pop-ups this game elicits when doing ANYTHING. I have two ideas for settings that would remedy my frustration: 1. A setting that would increase animation/pop-up speed (e.g. x1, x2, x4, x8 [possibly even x16!?]). 2. Add functionality on tap that will entirely skip whatever progress bar is being increased. P.S. This lack of speed is similarly noticeable in the menuing (i.e. going to your pokemon box, sleep point shop or friends’ research). None of these tasks should take over what feels like a second to accomplish.
Poor Decisions and Odd Features

by Jskahausuzjasi
First off, the game will just decide to disable your microphone access with no way to re-enable it in settings. Believe me, I tried, and after being up until 1:00 AM just trying to figure the stupid thing out, I ended up deleting the stupid app and redownloading it, only for it to delete all my data because some numbskull decided not to put a microphone enabling setting in the settings app. The worst part is that the game worked fine for four straight days before this randomly happened with no warning.
Another bigger issue I have, aside from the general gameplay being fairly boring, is that this game made to be your sleep companion has absolutely zero issue with flashbanging you with a pure white loading screen whenever it’s necessary. Why? Heck if I know. In fact, bright lights like that are scientifically proven to WORSEN your sleep by making it more difficult to fall asleep after seeing those lights. You would think this wouldn’t be an issue with PokémonSleep , given that it’s a sleep based app. However, no. This happens multiple times per sign-in, and you will have this display before bed every night you choose to use it.
On top of that, if you sleep on a small bed, good luck finding a place to put your phone.
Cute game, improve the Sleep features
2024-04-26
by BPfreegaslol
Love the Pokémon! 1- Dim the screen! Use darker colors so you don’t ruin users eyes first thing in the morning. Also, make sure that the screen goes dark every single time a user is tracking sleep. I have had many many nights where my screen stayed lit all night while tracking sleep. Not good for my phone nor for my sleep. 2- Make stats more transparent after sleep. Oddly, there’s a pop up screen to tell you how much XP your Pokemon team has contributed to Snorlax while away or sleep, but nothing to tell you how much sleep XP your individual Pokémon gained. There’s a quick animation that shows a level bar increasing which is covered by a pop up screen! You can’t even see that! Be more transparent and don’t block features with other features. 3- You know the sleep tracker is not accurate most nights. Devs know this and users know this. Make it possible to adjust the sleep times. No one loses anything in this adjustment, even if people are honest or not, let us adjust! It is the worst thing ever to actually begin sleeping on time and for good hours with good intentions and utilizing what we learned from PokémonSleep , just for PokémonSleep to not register two or three hours of our sleep.
I’ve had Pokémon sleep for a month now, I enjoy the game/sleep tracker but there are a few things they could improve on to make it better. The shop limits for regular 1 point poke biscuits is ridiculous, we should be able to buy whatever we need if we have the points for it. I’m constantly running out, I guess I just like to collect everything. Secondly the premium pass doesn’t offer enough benefits to justify the cost. The good camp set is awesome but we only get one with the premium pass? We should be getting 2 at the very least, more is always awesome. Prices for purchasing diamonds is the highest I have ever seen across all of the Pokémon apps, I’ve spent quite a bit on Pokémon Go but the prices on Pokémon sleep are too high for far too little diamonds to justify buying any. Also it would be truly amazing if we had more poke biscuits given as rewards. Another feature that would be nice to have would be for tired Pokémon that aren’t being used often to regenerate energy while they are in the box. I hate seeing so many sad little Pokémon’s but I don’t have the means to make all of them happy without ruining my progress for the week.
very cute but some issues

by Protectsina
I have been a Pokémon fan for as long as I can remember so of course when I saw there was a free app I could get I wanted to. I really enjoy PokémonSleep overall, I think the different sleep types are super cute and I enjoy collecting berries and trying to get my food the extra tasty rating. But… I have been having issues as well. I’ve been using PokémonSleep for about four weeks now and for some reason every single time I sleep the tracking stops at 6 hours and 2 minutes no matter how long I actually slept. There was one night I slept for 10 hours straight and was excited to have met my goal but then when I check on PokémonSleep it had 6 hours of sleep and 4 hours of untracked time. I tried to go in and edit the sleep tracking to let it know I was in fact asleep but it wouldn’t allow me to change it. I’m not really sure what is causing this to happen, I don’t go to sleep at the same time every night so it’s not like my building is making weird noises and I also sometimes stay up after I set the tracker so it’s not like I naturally make a weird noise in my sleep exactly 6 hours into sleeping. Overall this isn’t much of an issue and doesn’t really impact the game much but it’s a bit annoying that I can’t change it and therefore will sometimes have 2-4 hours of untracked time every night.
Keep turning it off in middle of the night

I love PokémonSleep it’s really cute and I love the inclusion of more than just gen 1 Pokémon I’m so happy to see more diversity in the options and not to mention the professor is adorable and so is the whole art style of the game and I like that there is some stuff you can participate in while awake too that’s a nice touch and it’s a great app defenitly but I do have some complaints
Since you can’t turn your phone off while using it that means that PokémonSleep will turn rgjjt back on if you tap the screen and you also need to have in on your mattress next to you to work so the issue I’ve been having is that I the middle of the night I will accidentally press the screen in my sleep and that will turn off PokémonSleep and end the tracking resulting in inaccurate sleep results and I’ve also tried setting an alarm with it but because I accidentally turned it off at 2:00 am in my sleep the alarm didn’t go off and I woke up late so my mom had to get me up but I could see this being a problem in the future a single thing such as you have to hold the screen for 3 seconds to end the sleep tracking or just you can turn your phone off while it tracks woild easily solve this problem and I sincerely hope they do fix it so i can get accurate results and the alarm to actually work.
Great app! But can’t listen to music :(

by Tallin_Imperiallice
I absolutely LOVE PokémonSleep so far. I’ve been using it for about 2 weeks straight now, and my only issue so far is that I can’t listen to my sleep playlist while tracking sleep for research. I have a very specific type of music to help me lower my heart rate which is very important as a person with insomnia. I don’t much care for the “relaxing sounds” provided with PokémonSleep , but since PokémonSleep has to be left open to track for research, I thought I might be able to just use my music subscription in the background. Sadly, every time I start the music and return to the game for sleep research, my music is unable to play in the background. Maybe if you can’t allow background apps to play music, you could offer different options for the music that plays while tracking sleep. I, personally, can’t stand music that I can tell is on loop. It reminds me of being left on hold on a phone call which makes me angry and anxious, which makes me unable to sleep. If the background music option or alternate sound options was made available, PokémonSleep would immediately get 5 stars from me!
Great game but I suspect a flaw.

Great start to this really cute and fun idea for a game. I love the concept. The art style is adorable and everything runs smoothly. I really wish that it had the compatability to receive sleep data from an Apple Watch because I’d much rather wear my Apple Watch to sleep than have my phone by my head.
So, since this is based on basically the quality of your sleep and duration, people who have narcolepsy like myself may never be able to fully enjoy the game and all of its Pokémon. I know I personally will NEVER hit 8.5 hours of sleep therefore I will never reach 100 points a night. It’s one thing to be a short sleeper, but even short sleepers can have better quality sleep, meaning more time in slumbering mode. I will NEVER be able to befriend any of the slumbering type Pokémon associated with deep sleep because I will never have that be the majority of my nights sleep type. It’s just the way it is for me with narcolepsy. This makes me sad and also a little frustrated because it’s not fair really. This probably wasn’t even thought of during the development process.
Having spent a significant amount of time exploring Pokémon Sleep, I can confidently attest to its unique appeal and innovation. The game does a stellar job in merging the captivating world of Pokémon with the indispensable act of sleeping, creating an experience that is both engaging and beneficial to one's well-being. The mechanics are well-conceived and align beautifully with the game's objective. It’s a nice calming and cute game that has a smart twist. However, there's a particular glitch that occasionally mars the experience. On waking up and attempting to conclude my sleep session via the "end sleep session" button, the game occasionally indicates that no sleep data has been found. This invariably results in a failure to log my sleep, rendering me unable to undertake sleep research for that specific day. Such technical setbacks detract from an otherwise delightful experience and I hope to see a resolution soon. In summary, Pokémon Sleep showcases a commendable fusion of gaming and health. With a few tweaks, it has the potential to be a seamless and rewarding experience for all users.

Game is great, but there are some QOL things that would be nice to fix. The system to add in sleep after you woke up is rough, as you have to slowly change it from the time it is to the time you went to sleep. You can’t even change the “time I went to sleep” to the day before (if you do it too late in the current day) without it saying “you can’t add sleep times for more than 12 hours” so you have to move the time you woke up and then the time you fell asleep and then there’s this strange bug where it says “the time you said you went to sleep is after the time that you said you woke up” even if it’s like 9:58 pm the previous day and I said I woke up at 9:45 am (yes I made sure that am and pm was right and it would be a different error otherwise). I don’t think the clock system is operating correctly in this aspect. Great game but would like this part to be fixed, I don’t always remember to turn Pokémon sleep on before I go to sleep and the menu being not great in terms of entering and buggy unfortunate.
Very fun! Only a few issues

by Kadtheman10
I have been using Pokémon sleep for a little while now and I think it’s pretty fun, not only does it help fix your sleep schedule and gives you something to think about when you wake up besides work or school, but it’s very fun and gives you a sense of accomplishment each night.
I do have a few issues, first of all, you have to have your phone on your bed turned on all night, this means you will have to connect it to a charger that will reach your bed. The capture system is also a little weird. You have to use biscuits to capture the Pokémon you see after you wake up, but the issue is the biscuit system isn’t really explained well, sometimes it may only take 1 biscuit, sometimes it might take 3, which is annoying as gems are kinda hard to get.
I do like the cooking mechanic, but for a game specifically designed for sleeping I don’t see why the only way to encounter new poke mon should be feeding the Snorlax during the middle of the day. The sleep data can be inaccurate sometimes as PokémonSleep might turn off whilst you sleep or the phone runs out of battery, making you lose possibly hours of data.
Overall, I like the game a lot, but I feel like there should be some improvements to the way you earn gems, and gain levels for the Snorlax, as right now the only way to level up the Snorlax is to play during the day, which I don’t like for a sleep game. You should get the game if your looking to improve your sleep or just really like Pokémon.
Some initial Thoughts

I have no idea if The Pokemon Company will read all their reviews, but here’s a wishlist/list of improvements I think could be cool!
Right now I’m having to wake up at 4:00 am so that I don’t have too much sleep spill over without being counted. I do appreciate that the new day is 4:00 because it allows a normal time for me to fill up my score to 100 without having to take a nap. However, I would love if PokémonSleep would immediately count my hours sleeping past 4:00 to go to the next day. I may be missing something, but it’s annoying having to wake up, and start again when this could be a fix.
Also, if the concern is that now there’s no incentive to do a second sleep session, and those rewards are thus redundant, maybe just increase the rewards from one sleep session and cap it there?
Finally, please please Pokémon company. This is just for the fans, and not for quality of life, but please include as many Pokémon in this game as possible. If you aren’t going to include all of the Pokémon in the mainline games, give us 2-4 sleeping forms of as many Pokémon here. It’s enough to worry about which of the favorites are making it, I’d rather everyone got their loved Pokémon again. Even in just a side game!

So far having fun with it and can honestly say it’s having a positive impact on my sleeping habits, but my largest issue with PokémonSleep by far is the music system that plays while you sleep. For starters, you can’t play your own music, which if it does effect the ability to track your sleep that would be fine but they offer one of their own songs so evidently it’s possible to get it to work without being muted. As far as the song provided goes, I’d prefer if it was more than a single track but at the very least COULD YOU HAVE MADE IT LOOP???? The beginning of the song gets cut off at the start every time and it’s honestly such an oversight considering the rest of PokémonSleep feels pretty polished. Would be happy to change my review to 5 stars if either music is able to be played while PokémonSleep is open or they simply add additional tracks to “sleep noises” feature.
I thought this game wouldn’t be that good but I’ve actually been playing it every day since it came out now and I’m not disappointed. There are some flaws though. The first being the fact that it has a new update every day which makes sense because it’s new and will likely stop later on. The second issue I’ve had was it not tracking me sleeping for two hours. I think it’s good that it at least tells you if you’ve lost hours because it wasn’t tracking. So overall it’s a very solid app and I really enjoy the fact that there are shiny Pokémon to get. Also I got my riolu today and you have to sleep a specific amount of time with it to evolve it which I find really fun. Also to everyone saying it’s a health risk, the phone basically powers off when you are following the instructions to track your sleep correctly. The phone doesn’t heat up at all, and even apple said it’s fine to do.
A cute app to help track sleep…. If it can.

I’ve had Pokémon sleep from day one and i find it to be the cutest, most helpful way to track your sleeping habits! Rewarding users with Pokémon to help you sleep with is a fun way to incentivize a healthy sleep cycle and give a good start to one’s mornings… That’s if PokémonSleep actually tracks the data it needs to work. For the past three days I have been resting with PokémonSleep , following the instructions to a T and unfortunately PokémonSleep as of late has been giving me a “no valid sleep data” error. I tried troubleshooting the error from setting the phone face up on the bed, to trying to keep still (as some people pointed out that jostling in your sleep could mess with the sensor), To outright just deleting and reinstalling PokémonSleep . Each try ending up with the same result. I don’t want to give PokémonSleep a lower rating because I genuinely do like it. I just really want this error to be fixed so others can enjoy the game for its intended use.
Overall Good, Some Flaws

I have no beef with the main functions of PokémonSleep , however, the lack of support for our own music ruins my schedule and ability to properly sleep. To be able to play my own music, I have to have it playing from the notification screen, and usually that works, but last night none of my sleep was tracked. I received a pop up saying there was no valid sleep session. PokémonSleep also randomly turns black, as if my screen turned off for a second or two before returning to normal. Some bugs and features to be fixed, but the gameplay itself is decent.

PokémonSleep so honestly an extremely cool concept, kind of like Pokémon go, making healthy habits into a game and making it fun! I just really wish there was some sort of AR kind of feature like Pokémon go has, with being able to track your steps without being on the game. I have type 1 diabetes, so sometimes I’ll wake up to a medical alert at 2:00 AM and I’ll need to eat something. It’s not like I can control that whatsoever, and it’s just a small problem and doesn’t happen often. I honestly think they they just want you to but the Pokémon go +. It’s a really amazing concept, and has amazing graphics, but it could use some major changes.
Mid app

PokémonSleep is a pretty good idea, I like it. It’s really good at trying to promote sleep and it’s helping me sleep better too. I do have one complaint, the relaxing sounds are so repetitive. It’s just the same tune in a loop, no way to change it or have different variations. It gets so annoying to the point where I can’t sleep with it on, it drives me insane. Yes, I know I can turn it off but isn’t the point of having relaxing sounds to help you wind down faster? At least put some variation in the music instead of the same annoying track playing over and over. Overall mid app. Would I suggest to a friend? Not really, unless they really need a way to help them track their sleep.
The notification dots telling me I can level up my mons is a very annoying feature. It will continue to exist so long as I have one Candy unused. This isn't very intuitive as users need to save candies to evolve mons. This feature is especially useless for users that want to evolve pseudo legendaries as we will just see that useless notification dot for weeks until we have enough candies/levels to evolve.
There are also some bugs that causes game to restart while in app, but I will chalk that up to its new release.
One last gripe I have about PokémonSleep is if I'm in another app for a short amount of time, PokémonSleep reverts back to its initial loading screen.
Sleep Tracking and Screen Time

by Epenglish
I really enjoy the game and find that it’s a fun approach to sleep tracking! The only issue I have is that the game must be open all night to track which has really thrown off my screen time. I have been trying to cut back on it and checking my data daily so imagine my surprise when I was averaging 6-8 more hours of screen time a day! I would love if PokémonSleep could work in the background when your phone is locked like other sleep tracking apps.
Almost perfect!!

Okay so since my last review, the meal time glitch has been fixed. Woo! Unfortunately though, bedtime doesn’t seem to work at ALL anymore. It used to be that if you went to bed early you’d miss your bedtime bonus, but now you just… never get the bonus no matter when you go to bed, or that’s what it seems like to me.
Otherwise though PokémonSleep is EXCELLENT! Since I started using it, I haven’t fallen asleep at my desk!! That was a TERRIBLE habit I had, but PokémonSleep has given me the nudge I needed to actually go to bed rather than let myself fall asleep at my desk.
Also, this is a weird praise but I love how slowly Pokémon level up. I’ve been playing for two weeks and my strongest Pokémon is level 10. Others might say this is a bad thing, but it makes leveling up Pokémon feel so much more satisfying! Even evolving my Caterpie took effort, which made me hyped when she FINALLY evolved into a Metapod this morning.
For real, the only issues I have with PokémonSleep right now are the broken bedtime feature (which is fortunately not game breaking) and the fact that since the last update I’ve been getting a LOT of errors (which, shockingly, have not caused me to lose progress, so they’re just a small annoyance). I have faith that the devs can fix these! Keep up the great work!

It’s cute and I like the concept but keeping the phone open and charging for hours will only heat it up (not to mention they ask you to place it beside you on the bed as well) and personally I don’t like keeping my screen on when I’m not using my phone so I wish PokémonSleep would let us have our phone screen locked while we sleep. I hope it gets fixed tho
It’s really cute! It should have the option to link to Apple Health for sleep tracking though.

I sleep with my Apple Watch on and my phone isn’t near me enough to be able to track accuracy on my phone. It would be awesome if it could sync to apple health and take the data from my watch and use that for PokémonSleep , kinda like Pokémon go.
The main issue for me is the fact the phone has to be left on the entire night. I don’t know if this issue is simply impossible to avoid or maybe through future updates they can allow the phone to be powered off for the duration of the night ( Although I wouldn’t be surprised if they put a pay wall behind this feature) overall, I enjoy the game
Love the concept!

Honestly love the idea of attracting and keeping sleep buddies (and shiny hunting them), so this game really scratches that collecting urge. Also sleep tracking, bit creepy being on servers but it’s a cool game to encourage you to want to analyze your sleep patterns. 4 stars mainly because there’s still bugs like my game freezing trying to accept certain friend requests.

The first night I got it, PokémonSleep tracked my sleep and I was so excited to see what Pokémon I got but when I put my phone next to my pillow again last night to sleep I woke up and it said “couldn’t track sleep data” I was a little bummed out but I’ll try again tonight, idk if it’s a bug but please fix it. Other than that this game is great
I play on what I believe is an Apple iPad and when playing on it the size screen acts like a phone I would like it is if the screen adjusted size also maybe make poke biscuits cheaper that’s all for now

as a person that struggles with self-care rituals and such, like consistently brushing my teeth, going to bed on time, etc. this game really has helped me a lot. i actually feel EXCITED to go to bed because of this game. i would definitely recommend this to people that have “revenge sleep procrastination” as i believe this could be very helpful.
honestly, the only sort of complaint i think i would have about this game isn’t even really a complaint, more of a suggestion of something that could be added to help improve the game. and it’s just that i think it would be pretty neat if there were a way to pick different relaxing sounds to play when tracking a sleep session. like, maybe instead of just the pokémon center theme song, there could be other parts of the pokémon soundtrack as options to listen to as you fall asleep. like maybe a lo-fi version of “littleroot town” or “unwavering heart”. just an idea.

Did you know that in terms of human companionship, Flareon is objectively the most huggable Pokemon? While their maximum temperature is likely too much for most, they are capable of controlling it, so they can set themselves to the perfect temperature for you. Along with that, they have a lot of fluff, making them undeniably incredibly soft to touch. But that's not all, they have a very respectable special defense stat of 110, which means that they are likely very calm and resistant to emotional damage. Because of this, if you have a bad day, you can vent to it while hugging it, and it won't mind. It can make itself even more endearing with moves like Charm and Baby Doll Eyes, ensuring that you never have a prolonged bout of depression ever again.

I bought the Pokémon go plus+ on pre order, knowing that this game was going to motivate me as an autistic man who struggles a lot with my disability, to fix my sleep schedule that my therapist has been nagging me for about for years, and this game is finally going to get me on track, first night was a success, i went to bed on time and fell asleep in 21 minutes, on schedule and earned my first stamp! There’s a 30 minute time window for when you fall asleep, I set mine 12:30 and lay down at 11:45 to be sure I will remember and get ready for bed and then sleep. I absolutely love the idea of this and playing it is already even better. Excited for more!!
You added Failinks to Pokémon unite, so do it again in Pokémon sleep, and give it a unique ability, like sometimes it will get what ever material you want but it will have 20% less berries/ingredients. Like sending a trooper on a mission and the brass focuses on the usual stuff. Each time the ability activates, you get a mission charge, which can be used from said search. Also please make us so that the brass and five troopers are walking around like separate troopers and make all of them deposits what they find individually. A least add them, they are my favorite Pokémon. Just an idea so please read this, I think a lot of people would really like this. The sleep styles are all up to you. But if you need an idea, try something like duodrios lookout sleep where the brass is protecting the troops by staying up to keep them safe. Please read this and add Failinks such a cool fighting type. I see no reason why Failinks (aka my dude) should be only in a combat game, and not a sleep game because they are cute fighting types as well. With all reasons said, please consider my idea. (And maybe if you think it’s good then send me a Failinks incense and a master biscuit when the coding is done😉.)Love your app bye.

Pokémon Sleep has really helped me to keep a healthy sleep schedule. I am an autistic kid who struggles with healthy habits, and I used to get about 4-5 hours of sleep each night. With Pokémon Sleep, I am motivated to get more sleep each night! For me, the tracking system works very well and helps me learn more about my sleep patterns. It also has music, and I need some noise to help me fall asleep. I am happy with all the features to play with in the morning, even though it is called Pokémon Sleep! Pokémon Sleep is very helpful, and it only just released. I am excited for many updates to come! What I would recommend for future updates: For there to be a shorter minimum, about maybe 50 minutes, because what if you are just taking a quick nap or if you want to sleep a little bit longer after you wake up, but not for long. And I know there are already sleep tips, but can they appear more often and are based on your sleep data? Those are the things I would like in the next update. Anyway, 5 stars for Pokémon Sleep!
As an autistic person who has a lot of trouble getting motivation to go to sleep on time AS WELL AS get a good amount of sleep in general this game has already helped me so much only a few nights in, i love it so much and i’ve already gone from going to bed from 5-7am and waking up at 2-5pm to going to sleep from 12-3am and waking up at 10am-1pm. May not sound like much but i’m not even a week in and it’s helped me progress that much. I figured that it would drain battery percentage as well, as I normally go to sleep with my phone on a lower percentage and charge it up to 100% overnight. However, I leave PokémonSleep open all night and wake up with my phone at 100% as usual! I love all the features and thinks you can do in this game but I especially love the bedtime stamp card feature! And the fact that it works weekly. I can wean myself into an earlier sleeping time hour by hour till i’m perfectly in schedule to get a good night’s rest! Thank you so much pokémon team! :)
P.S. I don’t use the premium version, and it still works amazingly. I think that alone is worth admiration.
Thanks to Pokemon I can finally sleep!

Cute Game But Minor Bugs

I REALLY love this game! I’ve been playing it for almost 2 weeks now and I love the feeling of waking up to see what Pokémon I have found hoping there’s a shiny one. My phone never overheats and neither does my charger thanks to the game dimming the screen or basically putting it in some kind of sleep mode. I’ve see reviews on phones overheating but we move in our sleep so you may have slept on it. Anyways, I do find it nice that there is a game that can track your sleep without paying like certain apps and I can get some feedback and some funny little recordings here and there.
With the actual game though, if you take a nap and then go to bed that same day, it will not let you at all because you’ve already slept. I would love to where it let you take naps and also sleep at the same time. But also, I’ve only encountered this once but there was one time I slept from 11pm-10am and when I went to go review my data, it said there was nothing to be reviewed and I lost all that data and Pokemon I could’ve possibly encountered. But it has only happened once. If it occurs more than 3 times, I’m giving my rating a four star.
But if you’re reading this please fix the sleep only once a day feature. It can make more people play during the day when taking naps and instead of just playing it at night.
The BEST GAME i have ever played!!

I have genuinely never written a review for a game before.. that is how much this game has impacted my daily life. If you are thinking about getting Pokémon Sleep, definitely give it a try!! From the adorable art style, the joy I get when it’s time to feed my snorlax, to how much this game has motivated me to have a better sleep schedule (which I have struggled with for years), the game is perfect in all aspects to me. It is such a slow paced game in a way that makes it attractive to pick up every once in a while and it really is free to play unless you are genuinely a hardcore Pokémon Sleep gamer but I have not had it get in the way of ANY gameplay which is great! Also, no ads!! I am not missing out on any of the features and it’s truly a very fun and rewarding game especially when you unlock new areas to explore!! It’s a game that you can check in on once in a while and it will give you joy whenever you play. It motivates you to sleep in a cute and fun way! Seeing my sleep progress all laid out within the past month has been very rewarding. As well as my growing Pokédex collection!! I cannot stress how much joy this game has given me so I strongly recommend it!! If the creators are happening to read this… psst! I would LOVE to be able to befriend my favorite Pokémon, Dialga one day!! Thank you so much for your time and I hope I could’ve convinced anybody who was thinking about downloading Pokémon Sleep! :) -Titi
At first, I thought it was a silly game. I thought it was a little weird that it can track your sleep with just your phones microphone. It tracks your “sleep” and it gives you something fun when you wake up to look at in the morning. I don’t think the sleep tracking is accurate, but it doesn’t need to be. It gets what it needs, which is when you actually fall asleep and it kind of listens to you to see if you’re snoring or moving around but these kind of differences doesn’t really change the components of the game. This is definitely more of a game than a sleep tracker and the game is actually pretty fun to get into. There are a lot of menus and options in the game so in the beginning it was a little confusing to understand how to navigate & use the game. After about a week and a half of using the game I actually really enjoy it. Going to sleep is a little more exciting and getting the full eight hours for the game and waking up to some new content is pretty nice. I wonder how long this will be addicting for but right now I absolutely love it and I’ve been using it every single night.

Overall, the Pokemon Company has done a great job with the marketing and side project aspect of the business for a long time now. Unfortunately, GameFreak has fumbled the classic Pokemon titles with recent games like Scarlet and Violet. They have lost the allure that every Pokemon game has had since when I was a kid. Although, the last game that I felt had this same feeling was Legends Arceus. Just something about that game made me happy and excited to create a team of Pokemon. Pokemon Sleep is the first game in awhile from the company that has made me feel the same way. I love tracking my sleep and find it actually helps me to make sure that I am taking care of myself when I push too hard. I have taken some breaks but with the additions of new Pokemon, campsites, and events...I am fully invested. The grind is something I greatly enjoyed from earlier Pokemon titles I played as a kid. This game definitely has that and it has taken me since the release date to get some final evolutions for Pokemon I've had for months. The gameplay is so simple, the art style is gorgeous, and the game itself is a calming experience. If you can be disciplined enough to keep up with tracking your sleep every night with your phone plugged in, you will love this title. Please add Abra :)

Honestly the basic concept of this a great idea, while there are some bugs/glitches happening at the moment, the developers seem to on top of it and are fixing them. Personally I got my hands on the poke ball plus + so I don’t worry about my phone being right by my hand. My sleep schedule has always been pretty bad simply because there’s other things I could be doing , this has greatly helped it ! It’s actually encourage me to get sleep since i can’t make that choice myself haft the time. Plus I didn’t know it was even possible but woke up this morning, was logging in my sleep data and there was a shiny charmader ! Needless to say he got as many biscuits as he wanted ^^

I am an insomniac, I have horrible sleep habits and expected to delete this game because it would be too hard to keep up a sleeping schedule with my illness, I downloaded the game and last night, I got the best sleep I’ve gotten in YEARS and it definitely was because of Pokémon sleep, I was motivated to go to sleep earlier, and when I woke up, I was motivated to go right back to sleep, on top of that, the features in this game are pretty fun, nice collection system and growth system, so for both fun and health, I recommend this game highly

as a gamer… kinda cringe writing this but i don’t usually get much sleep, but this game motivate me to sleep more. the only complaint i have is that the game doesn’t tell you what level you need to be too unlock features and the record setting is a little weird but can be turned off. PS- i respect the person who just wrote the flareon copypasta as a review
I never used a sleep app but this is actually cool and the best part shinys and evolution is in this game I was a fan of Magikarp jump and I like how this game use the same art style, hopefully they add more pokemon in the game in the future and Las a long time, and I'm excited for gen4 and 5 pokemon to be added because I love torterra,
Hopefully in the future we get a Pokemon ranger app game and a game like Magikarp jump but sedra derby race game with different skin sedras

I really struggle to get to bed on time, so this is a great motivator. If pikachu can’t fix your sleep schedule, no one can! The art style is very cute too. If you love pokemon it is a great addition to your app collection, or if you don’t and just want a more interesting way to get to bed on time than normal health app.
Pairs very well with the Go ++, love the little song it sings and makes it easy to remember to track rather than opening my phone.

Love this game a lot, it helps me keep track of my sleep. My friend got me the Pokémon Plus Ball and It’s very helpful to click it before and after I sleep. It’s like I’m training my body to respond to clicking sounds.
Edit: I wish there was an option to be a Pokémon and dress it up because I love Pokémon so much and being one instead of a trainer like Pokémon Go sounds like a good idea. Plus Pokémon Mystery Dungeon has been my favourite game due to that reason.
It’s great but I do have a few notes for users

by Hunter#1438
I noticed a few things that might help with new users wanting to download.
One you don’t catch Pokémon in this game as you are currently a researchers assistant to professor neroli.
Two as you sleep more Pokémon will appear the less you use Pokémon sleep the less mons you will see.
Three always remember to check up on your snorlax throughout the day to feed it and level up.
Four is mainly just a rehash of two in that you need to sleep well enough to have a good chance at getting Pokémon if your at least 19 or older get about 8 1/2 hours of sleep.
Five be sure that the Pokémon plus plus or your phone is on the bed fully charged as you have to stay on PokémonSleep with your phone on the screen will blacken after 5 minutes of sleep.
Six remember it’s a game but it’s also a health app like Pokémon go have fun and remember to take care of yourself
Adorable!!

I can’t believe I live in a time where I can catch Pokémon in my sleep.
so far i've only used it for one night and i can confidently say that this is going to encourage me to fix my sleep schedule and get healthier sleep. most of the reviews that i'm seeing that knock off stars are people complaining about incompatibility with apple health, and the fact that it has to be plugged in on your bed to work. however, the game literally tells you that when you start, and it warns you that if you don't charge it overnight you will lose battery and that it needs to be on your bed. it doesn't have to be right next to your head though, as some may think apparently. its super cute and reminds me a little bit of pokémon quest lol. the fact that it gives you your sleep score and even tells you how long it actually took you to fall asleep is great and i would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a little more fun in their life

Super stoked that PokémonSleep finally came out. Having trouble with friends. I don’t have the community option. Please look into this, I’d like to add some people. Other than that the game is really nice. Not a game you can really grind, really similar to magikarp jump in that way. Great game

Also disappointed that the game didn’t scrape more data off of me than it did, with how big the Pokémon company is, I expected better and for my entire personal life to be data scraped by pokemon.

The game makes a claim that it can be completed entirely without purchases. The question becomes can it be completed in a reasonable timeframe (not 15 years) without purchases? We shall see.
Extremely beneficial

Pokémon Sleep has actually helped me sleep better at night. It’s also very interesting to see what type of sleep I’m getting and the graph helped me see when I’m getting the best sleep
Bug maybe?

Does Pokémon sleep track your fan? Because I keep getting same sleep and no recordings and I feel my stand up fan blowing at me / the phone might be affecting it because I need my fan at night. I hope they can look into it and see if a stand up fan can hinder the game. But I absolutely love this game so far!
Pretty good

Honestly a really fun app. I already had a fairly decent sleep schedule in terms of hours but now I’m better with sleeping at relatively similar times (obviously some days are different based on if I have school or work) and I like that they updated the bedtime thing so you have 2 hours worth of wiggle room which if you time correctly can effectively act as two bedtimes.
My only complaints right now after some previous updates and confirmed future ones, is how I wished the friend list had better stats like showing when someone was last active as right now it’s pretty difficult to tell without actively checking each person which obviously is time taking. Besides that I just have one other thing to say which isn’t even a complaint really, I wish there was a way to change a Pokémon’s nature as sometimes I’ll find a Pokémon with really good sun skills but their nature completely ruins it or a shiny Pokémon who’s nature just makes it not worth having on the team compared to someone else
