Would be 5 stars, but...

So far that I’ve found, Pocketdex has the most in one place. Only exception being that I can’t update or edit my Pokémon once they’re scanned in. If I change attacks, evolve, or power up, I can’t update my scan. That and the time and battery life of my phone is caught with the screenshot and stays there in Pocketdex , so when I’m looking at my Pokémon, I can’t tell what time it is, because the actual time is superimposed over the screenshot time. Or, if you use the auto-scan in the game, the red recording bar at the top is captured. Splitting hairs, maybe. But it looks a mess and would be something I’d like fixed. Otherwise, very useful app.

Misleading wording, doesn’t do what it says

It’s like every other IV calculator. You screenshot and it tells you the IV, most of the time it doesn’t even tell me what the IV is or it says it couldn’t gather the information. Mewtwo, Metagross, and a Flareon specifically aren’t working for me as a few examples. Pocketdex description says that it “works through PoGo app” and really it doesn’t. You take a screenshot and Pocketdex gives you a drop down notification of the IV %. However, the way they word the phrase made me think you had to pay for Pocketdex . So I paid for a subscription, which I would like a refund on, because Pocketdex does not do as stated. It does not work within Pokémon Go, it works completely on its own, and a drop down notification is not “within Pocketdex ”. It would be more simple to screenshot all of my Pokémon and mass import them into any other app.

The way Pocketdex was worded sounds great and 100% useful! However, it doesn’t work as they say, deceitful.

Great little app

Took me a little exploring to figure out the UI in some areas, and some of that could still use a little tweaking imo, but there are some really nice features here, especially if you’re into kinky stuff like optimizing IVs for play in low-CP leagues. Once you’ve scanned in the base form, you can see how the IVs will stack up for the evolved forms as well which is really nice.

There are a few of the features from Go Field Guide that I’d like to see here, and the search in the Pokédex needs work (randomly reverts to displaying everything instead of filtering by what I’m typing sometimes), but I didn’t hesitate to chip in a subscription for what these guys are building.

Great app!

This is a great app for keeping track of your Pokédex and figuring out weaknesses for other Pokémon. The only gripe that I have is the fact that you have to manually analyze every one of your Pokémon through screenshots, which, for those that have been playing the game for a long while is VERY time consuming.

Don’t let that minor detail take away from Pocketdex though as I’m sure that automatic scanning will more than likely be something that will be available in the future. I like the ability to indicate raid locations on Pocketdex so Pocketdex knows in the future where they will be.

Overall, there’s a lot of potential in Pocketdex, and I honestly can’t wait to see its progression.

Disappointing

I downloaded this app to compare it to Poke Genie, which has set the standard for Pokemon Go utility apps. My frustrations set in immediately. My first test scan was Mewtwo. this app insisted it was a Mew, and wouldn't give me Mewtwo as an option to change it to. My next scan was a dragonite. This time Pocketdex was a little closer: it asked if it was a Dratini, a Dragonair, or a Dragonite. I can remember only one time out of thousands that Poke Genie has ever asked for help with identifying a Pokemon, and it was because I made a bad screenshot. It didn't scan what the moveset was. I had trouble entering the appraisal information, and couldn't figure out how to make corrections. Poke Genie would have taken care of all that quickly and easily.

In short, using this app would add more time and effort and give me less, the opposite of what I need. The makers have a long ways to go before Pocketdex will be worth considering as an alternative.

Love almost all of it

This is a great app except for a couple of features. It doesn’t scan all of my pokemon and I can’t manually add those that it won’t scan. If I try to use the screenshot I just get an error. I also wish I could just click on the pokemon to edit/view info instead of having to swipe.

The only other thing I can say is that I wish it would read my pokedex. Since I’ve already evolved pokemon it doesn’t show the first and second forms because they aren’t in my pokemon list even though they are in my pokedex.

I absolutely love the ratings and stats along with being able to view the shiny versions.

Good stat info but would like target info

In comparison to pokie genie that app is cleaner and more intuitive to use but is missing a featur I’m use to and one that helps you know if your keeping a Pokémon or transfer and that is telling you the evolved percentage iV for each league. It appears to show the same percentage for multiple leagues. I’m very new to using so maybe if this had settings that were customizable to the info you want to know. Example I love to pvp and you give those stats and that is great but I would like to see the % the actual Pokémon ranks once evolved aka the target Pokémon stats in pvp vw raids

Newest update doesn’t scan correctly

Bought the pro for a lifetime so I could use this in game and see the stats however they’re incorrect and isn’t right as I have a 100% Pokémon and the in game scan says “82%” how’s that even possible? Screenshot says 100% but in game scan says 82%. Needs some work and very dissatisfied sadly.

UPDATE: It was my bad that I was reading the percentages incorrectly it does in deed work as it should with further looking into. 5* definitely for how easily this works. Sorry about that bad feedback looking forward to the new update! Thank you for responding.

3.5 but I just recently started using it

It’s user friendly so I could use this pretty simply!? When u do have a question or looking for instruction, tips, whatever, and have spent 10 minutes clicking every option you find out. That’s it. That’s all the info they have or suggestion and it’s already stuff u figured out. Final gripe is RAIDS. And I don’t think it’s an app problem as much as a getting the word out there. Seems like everyone is using silph road and FB to post raids. I like this apps idea of parking it on the map so u can plan a Raif route. To this day I have yet to see a raid on here. I am gonna flag some in today’s hunt and tomorrow’s community day but up to the users to get this part off the ground and and rolling

Terrible. Get PokeGenie instead.

App doesn’t work as described. Pro subscription is a waste and doesn’t make uploads much smoother. You have to have to open Pocketdex before you open Pokémon Go, take a screenshot and Pocketdex shows a drop down notification of the IV info. You still have to update appraisal and moves info to get an accurate score. Most of the time it cannot even read Pokemon acquired from raids.

I am using PokeGenie now which can read all the Pokemon I have tried so far, from field and raids alike. Includes a battle simulator and while you have to upload screenshots and update appraisal info, most of the time it reads moves automatically. The PokeGenie also asks if you have leveled up based on the stats of the Pokémon you scan, keeping your Pokémon in Pocketdex updated. Just altogether more accurate and easier to use.

Good. Could be better

Not all Pokémon are being scanned. I’ve had issues with high cp Pokémon, venasaur and blissey for example. Another issue is the lack of batch scans. Not a fan of having to scan one by one. I’ve also noticed that when adding appraisals, it’s hard to see what is what, maybe even adding a way of properly aligning the cp arc. And lastly the Pokédex isn’t appealing. Two suggestions I have is either using Pokémon shuffle sprites or 8 bit sprites from core games,in place of using the screenshot from Pokémon go.

Could use features seen in Poke Genie

Not worth the money or time

Mostly you will get unknown results or a wide range of IV. About 20% of the time you get a defined IV. The reason you do not results is because Pocketdex can not determine the level of your Pokémon. It asks you to update your level in Pocketdex but nothing changes. This happens with certain Pokémon and the error repeats so you cannot simply try again. If you don’t want to pay and do not mind these issues it is a decent app.
Update: with recent updates to Pokémon Go Pocketdex is now not capable to give a limited defined IV. I can still use it to calculate how much candy and stardust I need to power up a Pokémon to max. The raid feature only allows you to add one manually and does not have a full database of current raids. For raids it would be look for a local social media group.

Simple and informative

this app is the kind of app that you look at and think, “ I don’t really need that” but when you download it and figure out how it works (which takes less than a minute due to its very easy to understand interface) you realize that this is and essential when playing Pokémon Go. It makes getting to know how good you Pokémon really are effortless with its screenshot scanning feature. The ability to list Pokémon as defending a Gym is helpful when trying to keep track of your Pokémon and where they are. Highly Recommend.

Great App, but… Widgets

this app is a fantastic app, providing both data in regards to Pokémon Go and accurate pokedex entries for most pocket monsters. However, the coolest feature it offers is the widgets, between the calendar featuring various ‘mons, and a neat “Pokémon of the Day” feature which does as the name suggests, providing a different entry each day. Unfortunately, this review could not give five stars, as the widgets fail to update, remaining a static entry for the duration of this install. Still, it does provide information on my Pokémon Go monsters that I could not find in game without first transferring to SwSh or the like.

Very useful but

Pocketdex is very useful, it gives stats about your Pokémon and all the info you could need while playing.

However, in order to scan your Pokémons, it needs to have access to your photo library and after that it can scan a single screenshot, so one Pokémon at a time. If they can enable an automatic scan via the Pokémon GO app I would change it to 5 stars because as it is now is very annoying to use.

Liars and pirates

These liars forget to tell you that they are collecting and selling your limited data that you have purchased from your cell phone company. They claim its screen shot free but then after you download it you find out the apps free to download but costs to use. Typical from foreign entities like these chomos. Pathetic is the first word that comes to mind and one more thing..... why is it everytime I’m at the park with my kid, i see the dude that designed Pocketdex over in the south end of the park in those three bushes receding kids playing? Isn’t there laws against people like that yet? Sicko. Must be a new world order thing. I wouldn’t understand!

Pro features not working

I can’t seem to get some of the pro features to work correctly with Pocketdex. The in game scan doesn’t work most of the time now. When it does it’s random and it takes forever to load anything back to me. It also won’t accept, or recognize, many of the pictures I have to scan and import because the in game scanner won’t work. For example, I can’t get Hoopa (unbound); Xerneas; Alolan Vulpix; or Galarian Mr. Mime to scan in at all. Please advise and thank you for your help.

Lots of Potential

Pocketdex has so much potential to be THE definitive raid reporting and coordinating app between platforms, but seems to be more focused on reinventing the wheel trying to be an all-in-one solution. Best layout and very smooth and enjoyable interface for reporting raids! Need to be able to delete raids mistakenly reported and have nearby users change eggs to bosses instead of having them disappear from the map once hatched for starters. Our community and many more are ready to jump on this great feature once it matures a bit. Kudos to the creators!

The text is way too small

I have really been enjoying Pocketdex , but my only issue is that the text showing the type percentages under the second tab when you click on any Pokémon is way to small . It would be much better if you could make it bigger so we can just look at it at a glance , without too much effort , as I look at this tab a lot .

New user

Been using for 2 mos June-July 2019.
It has been free, with minimal ads of which do not block you when using Pocketdex .!!!!!!!!! That alone is awesome.
Few Pokémon are difficult to enter, but that could be my lack of knowledge. I have a Pokémon that has different moves, of which are not an option and therefore proper rating is not achieved. Overall, free and it works.
Pokémon has changed, so Pocketdex is almost obsolete.

BEST APP EVER FOR POKÉMON GO!

Pocketdex is a lifesaver! It’s way better than Poke Genie! It’s less known, but it’s awesome. There’s a free app, but you can always try the Pro version for one month to see if you like it or not. You can screenshot your Pokémon screen, which can immediately appraise it. Pocketdex can also delete your screenshot after you appraise your Pokémon. So I say that you should try Pocketdex . It is worth it!!!! Thank you so much! Download Pocketdex!

Tried to Email and Ask for Guidance

I did my best to reach out via email to let them know that even after I purchased the subscriptions, it wasn’t applying to Pocketdex . Also, when I tried to scan, Pocketdex would quit.

Please advise.

- update: the developer reached out about an update. Will wait for this update but is still currently unfixed.

Got more than what I expected.

So I was just gonna give this a bland review saying this was a good PokémonGo app, but I decided to give it a try. Pocketdex is actually surprising. I would've assumed Pocketdex had trash in-app-purchases and a lot of ads, but I was proven wrong. Pocketdex is really helpful when in trying to figure out which Pokémon are the best based on CR and type. I would recommend.

By

Seems like it can be useful

I took a few screenshots and it was able to find some that I took awhile back which is nice, but on some of them it would say it couldn’t find some of the information and I would have to fill in the rest myself, but when it did work it gives you a lot of information that can be useful in raids.

Doesn’t do what it says FRUSTRATING!

The point of me downloading and paying for this was to make my gaming experience and iv checking a lot easier. You can’t multi delete anything in Pocketdex nor does it’s an directly through the game. The point of this was to not have to switch back and forth between 2 apps. Which I believe was everyone’s hope and basically what there selling point is but this is so frustrating to use. I’ve never wanted to throw my phone through a wall more so than I have while trying to use Pocketdex!
