BEWARE - HohemJoy is unreliable. I recorded a video only just over 3 mins long, and it said Video FAILED to save. Very upset, because the video was not recoverable. Very disappointed. Do NOT use HohemJoy!! Such a shame, because in order to fully use the gimbal’s zoom function while recording, you are forced to use HohemJoy and not just the iPhone camera app.

I’ve searched and searched but no longer see this option anymore. The previous version did allow this (even though I had to go to video mode, enable tracking, track, switch back to Timelapse mode). Shouldn’t this be a standard option for all gimbals? Especially $150+ tag price

It’s seems to be pretty straightforward, but I don’t understand why it limits my recording time. I have a 12 pro max with more than enough storage space. I lost extremely valuable recordings due to the thought HohemJoy was still recording. 1 star for this massive oversight. Unless I’m wrong

The functionality of the face tracking feature is terrible after the latest update. There used to be a button to select face or object tracking and then the system would do its magic. It was great because I have to shoot video of myself by myself and it acts like a virtual cameraman. Now you can’t really select a face to track from behind the camera when you need to be in front of it. Very disappointed. This was the only reason I got this gimbal. Virtually worthless for me now. Please bring back that button for selecting face tracking or object tracking 🙏🙏🙏.

When recording HohemJoy does not auto focus on targets. Take a few steps back and the shot will become blurry with your subject matter. I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO USE THE FOCUS WHEEL CONSTANTLY TO GET A CLEAR SHOT!!! Do yourself a favor and just use your phone’s regular camera app since the gimbal can be used stand alone without the need HohemJoy . HohemJoy blows

Stay away from Hohem app and gimbal. Absolute garbage, the device worked only once and then would not connect with Bluetooth again. Every time I tried to use it the device would tremble, Bluetooth light would flash red and the unit would shut off before my phones Bluetooth could even detect it.

So I have had a couple of videos now that don’t seem to save. I have lost about 20 minutes of recording and I cannot afford to lose any more videos because of this. I have just updated the software but if I have the same issue I will be returning the gimbal and finding one that works.

Recently recorded a 45 minute video at a conference for a client of mine and once I ended the recording I discovered that the footage had been erased (or was never saved). As a result I had nothing to give my client and had it not been for their understanding, I could’ve lost business. I would’ve used my phone’s native camera but 99% of the gimbal functionality is locked behind this awful app. This is a horribly optimized app/gimbal combo. Save yourself the trouble and avoid Hohem like the plague.

I recently purchased the skim the M7 and out of the box it did not work correctly. The gimbal markets itself as having a remote control that allows you to preview what the camera is looking at however, this functionality does not work even when connected to Bluetooth and the remote shows the ability to manipulate the camera app. The remote does not show the phone camera preview.

The only reason I downloaded HohemJoy was for seamless zoom and it is not available on iPhone 15 pro max

Honestly, HohemJoy has gotten a lot better

That said it definitely needs help with camera focus. It is not as reliable as it needs to be

I really like the AI tracking where you can draw on any object, but that needs a little bit of tweaking as well because it does lose track of that item quite easily and doesn’t always work

I also experienced issues With the gesture, not working sometimes

Other than that, it has better white balance than iPhone camera app

Also, I noticed a downgrade in quality via the iPhone camera app

Definitely not that far from being one of the best camera apps I’ve used to date

Also I would really love to see the ability to pair two different devices at the same time so I can use the camera from the phone mounted to the gimbal and my other phone for the joystick remote

That would be an awesome addition

Finally got some of the features to work, I’ll just have to watch more videos and take it one baby step at a time. It HohemJoy doesn’t work, try deleting it and redownload it and try again 👍

It works as it should, easy to navigate, plenty of great settings and features…. The problem I’m having is that I cannot film long videos, it will say failed to save. Now I upon hearing that after you’ve been filming for 30 minutes straight is a real bummer so I will have to resort to using my phones built-in camera platform

I had an opportunity to do an incredible time lapse with the orange Sunset and the time left. Every time I press start did not work, and I finally lost the sunset. I was so mad.

And for some odd reason it loves to do slow motion when I don’t want some motion on some shots if there’s no movement, and there’s sudden motion it’ll turn into slow motion and it’s really a nuisance when I have to go and edit it to fix it.

Ok HohemJoy needs to support autofocus and the gimbal wheel needs to support zooming.
Updates needed:
1. -wheel in zoom or any other mode = Autofocus on.
2. -wheel in focus mode needs to allow autofocus then provide manual override once the wheel is turned.
2.1. -Autofocus while wheel mode should be a selectable on-off option under config settings.
3. -active wheel functions (focus, zoom, light control, spin, & tilt) should be selectable under config settings so user can configure to their own use.

Most importantly make saving long videos mission critical. Do this by writing to App storage first, then transferring to Photo storage then if there is a problem, saving two photos storage, you have the option to go back and re-export without losing the video.

If you want a QA reviewer, I would be happy to do it for name credit only. out of all the gimbal, I’ve tested I like the Hoheim hardware, the best, and the software needs to be severely upgraded to reflect the quality of the hardware. I would like to see that happen and contribute to making that happen.

Gimbal wheel needs to support zooming. AI tracking needs to be able to track a whole subject (person or object) without losing track. I feel like the hardware is all perfect… now it’s just the software that needs some TLC (Tender Loving Care). I’ll update my score once that’s all taken care of.

I am new to the Hohem products and recently bought the x3. Everything was going well until I updated HohemJoy this morning. Now I’m not getting a picture, just a black or gray screen. Landscape mode is also turning the phone the wrong direction resulting in having the arm of the gimbal showing if I can a view of the lens perspective to show. That being said. I’m not sure if HohemJoy update caused these issues or am I, a newer user doing something wrong? Things seemed fine prior to HohemJoy update.

Simple to use and does not break the budget. Works great on my 12 Pro Max.

I’m happy with everything HohemJoy has to offer using M6 and generally happy!
