Guitarist for 35 years

I was very excited to try this program. But it is completely frustrating. The catalog of songs is incredibly limited. And the software itself has a hard time registering my notes, perhaps due to the fact that I did not have the right sound engine loaded, so that is on me. However, it became quickly very clear to me that it is very difficult to watch the screen and play the guitar. I have always played by feel, but I'm realizing that I look at the neck and the strings more often than I realized. I cannot imagine being a new guitarist trying to learn and having my eyes glued to the screen the whole time. Learning to listen, and to watch what your hands are doing are the most important things about learning the guitar. Staring at the screen and trying to match little blips as they go by has absolutely nothing to do with learning to play music. Some things cannot and should not be gamified.

I cannot read music and so I learned to play by ear. And as a professional guitarist for 25 of my 35 years playing the instrument, I was always very glad that I had developed the ability to play what I was hearing. Much better to spend your time developing your ear and spending your time with your eyes on your instrument than staring at the computer screen.

Unplug from the computer if you want to learn. You'll be so glad you developed skill and love for one of the few activities we have left that is not digitized.

Somewhat of an improvement

The new Rocksmith+ offers some “quality of life” improvements over its predecessor Rocksmith 2014 Edition. That said the use of a microphone to detect the guitar means that there’s some lag when it comes to what you’re seeing and what you’re playing. The microphone also means it has to be close to the source or it will have difficulty picking up the sound. Which itself is an issue on a phone with a limited screen size, since you can’t always sit close to the source and have the phone at an appropriate viewing angle. Then the use of a Real Tone cable is insufferable since you’d need to buy a Lightning to USB 3.0 Adapter at an additional cost (without counting the cost of the Real Tone cable itself) And you might think “Well, the subscription works across platforms so I could play on my laptop” Well, not if it is a Mac. The computer version doesn’t run on Mac, so if you’re an avid Apple consumer don’t expect to use this on any device other than an iPhone/iPad. So in all you’d be paying $100 a year for an ambitious app that only falls short on its execution.

New update

1- I love RocksmithFastMusicLearning and have been using it for tabs since conception. It is a great way to pick up the basics of any song quickly.

2- the new update however has caused my mic on my iphone (which I have used since the beginning with no problem) to not pick up the sound from my bass consistently. Even though the notes are registering, it keeps pausing mid riff to tell me that I took a break. This is frustrating to say the least, as I do not yet have a midi to work through. Without the mic registering the notes, it is impossible to play a full song without getting interrupted and ruining the flow.

3- please make a compatible version for Mac!!

Deceptive subscription cancellation procedure

This is unfortunate because the original rock smith game was great. This iOS version is janky at best, the music is abysmal, and Ubisofts account management is terrible. The subscription doesn’t show up in App Store subscriptions so you go to their website and get instructions to cancel. The instructions lead to an endless loop and the option to cancel they reference doesn’t exist (sent a screenshot to their support). You only get prompted to cancel by iOS if you delete RocksmithFastMusicLearning (I assume that always works but no clue).
Support will not process the cancellation and asks for screenshots of their website which were already provided.
There’s no way to try before you buy unless you sign up for a year. So, I bit the bullet and paid for a month (didn't want to commit $100 before I tried RocksmithFastMusicLearning ) and decided it wasn’t good after a few hours.
I was going to part ways with no review until I saw how messy their account management is. So, this is a warning to others.

Get the cable for the best experience

I have been a long time Rocksmith user since its original release. I have honestly only learned how to play because of this game. When I learned about Rocksmith+ I decided to give it a go. I have the original usb cable that came with the game back in the day and connect it to my IPad via a adapter and it works great. The list songs is extensive but not a “ton” of popular songs. I have spent quite a bit of money over the years on my PS4 and PS5 for different songs on the games. This one is starting to get some very good songs and I am honestly very excited to see what all comes in the future. The mic feature works alright but if you can get one of the Rocksmith cables and it will make your experience SOOOOO much better.

Rocksmith 2014 Remastered is miles ahead.

Not Recommended. Get Rocksmith 2014: Remastered instead.

Everything we loved about Rocksmith 2014 isn’t in this game. Why can’t we sort our saved songs by tuning? That is such a basic quality of life feature. I don’t believe the developers actually play the game. Where’s non stop play? Non Stop playlists and being able to save a song to a playlist was one of the best features that this game no longer has. No more guitarcade, no more multiplayer, the sorting options in RS2014 were much better.

After every song I need to wait at least 5-7 seconds while I watch this stupid experience bar fill up while someone says “Great job you’re so great, you’re level 12 now” I don’t care. I just want to get to the next song. This is too long of a wait for things I literally do not care about.

I also get kicked off the game at least once an hour because I need a 100% perfect connection 24/7 just to play.

The first hour was great, but you start to notice all of the problems, the missing features, the lack luster song list, and realize that Rocksmith 2014 is leagues better.

Almost Worth the Cost

I’ve used Rocksmith since it’s first console release. I was hoping for more of the same experience here. It’s missing the majority of the songs that they once had available. This is the biggest reason I’m not paying for a new subscription. They also did not have the arcade practice games like they used to. I would have considered a subscription if they still offered those. Lastly, they should have some savings for those that have purchased the console versions.

I gave it 3 out of 5. RocksmithFastMusicLearning has a TON of potential. Small music library, no arcade practice games, and no incentive for previous users are a miss. I’ll check back soon to see if they’ve built it out more. I’ve spent lots of money on “additional tracks” and multiple copies of Rocksmith on various consoles over the years…

Not worth a subscription fee

I would pay a reasonable price one time for RocksmithFastMusicLearning. In fact I have in the past on my Xbox. So I will not be paying for this application each year. What was wrong with the old model of paying for the songs you wanted and not paying for all the garbage I don’t want? Greed has ruined the whole gaming industry! 1st came micro transactions, now this new model! Do better!

So never mind the songs I have paid for on the Xbox and now can’t access on the new app. People would rather have something to show for their money not just a subscription. That’s why I will be getting a spark Amp. For less than 3 years of your subscription I will have access to jam tracks, the ability to learn any song and have an amplifier to show for my hard earned money! So good luck with you horrible marketing tactics! I spend my money on something tangible not a useless subscription service with horrible music selection.

Been playing Rocksmith for 10 years. Love it!

Just picked up this new Rocksmith and learned 2 new songs in a few days!!! Thank you!

This method is awesome. I like that it gives the tools to adapt to my speed but also that it increases difficulty on its own as I learn the song. Though it includes classic tabs, I’m a gamer and a visual learner so I progressively got to prefer to follow the screen.

The music selection is no bueno right now though. I hesitated to ding it a star, but they have a ton of songs so I’ll be patient. They had less songs before but more of the stuff I know. Please add more songs that I know and want to learn like in the prior games. Fingers crossed.

5string bass

So far your app doesn’t help me as a brand new 5 string bass player.
Leaving out this string is very confusing

Let Users Actually Test It to See if it’s for Them!

I am genuinely interested in RocksmithFastMusicLearning and I can afford to pay for a subscription. It drives me insane however how you cannot see or use anything in RocksmithFastMusicLearning before you subscribe. This is awful. It’s like asking someone to join a gym without ever seeing what equipment they have. Or signing up for a TV and movie steaming service without knowing what shows they have. Please, for the sake of common sense, allow people to use an app, even if it’s an hour or 24 hours, before needing to subscribe. Users should not have to subscribe (even if it’s classified as a “free trial”) before even seeing or using RocksmithFastMusicLearning . I feel so strongly about this practice that I’m deleting RocksmithFastMusicLearning and going elsewhere. If others feel the same way, that might explain why adoption of RocksmithFastMusicLearning is so low.

Nice try, but no cigar

Interface is good enough, but not fun like the 2014 version - not to mention the song selection is abysmally bad. No two player, or shuffle play. Crashes often and settings/preferences need to be reset every time. Wouldn’t play music through hdmi, had to hardwire my headphones into my stereo because I guess they want you to use headphones on iPad?? Not worth the year price. Ending my 7 day free trial early, played the 12 songs that were good. If you are an expert level, it’s worth your time to play expert/proficient level songs, they were entertaining, but unless you have a nice setup, I couldn’t imagine enjoying playing off your iPad or iPhone and having fun for more than 2 songs. Going back to my PS4.

Rough mic detection

I just tried the iPhone version. It looks almost exactly like the desktop. It’s quite small during a song, so I had to get right on it to see. I wasn’t sure if the mic didn’t pick up well or the note detection needed more work, but the first song I normally do well at, it said I did about 50% accurately.
I tried the same song with the same guitar on a 2018 iPad Pro with built in mic and got 26% accuracy. The bigger screen makes it much more doable, but we need to know if we can plug in the cable with an adapter.
If I’m having issues like this after playing RS, 2014, and now Plus, a new person *will not* stick with it. I’ll stick to the desktop (until my current subscription expires)

Works for me

Downloaded this week, now play on my phone more than my laptop. Yes, some things do get kind of small, but worth it so I can sit down with my acoustic anywhere in the house.

Honestly even if the library doesn’t have every song I could ever want yet they still have a lot of fun songs, enough for me to find something I like enough to get motivated and practice.

By

Note Highway is too cramped

Developers, you need to angle the note highway more like 2014 Remastered because on this new version the notes are too close together and it makes sight reading super hard especially on a phone.

I play the exercise packs on 2014 all the time so I’m super familiar with how they’re supposed to look. As soon as I played one of the exercises on Plus I noticed how cramped it was immediately.

I won’t whine about the library cause I’ve found some fun stuff but the cramped note thing is kind of a dealbreaker for me.

Notes too small for iPhone

I was excited when I saw this was available for the iPhone. Except when Istarted to play it, the note/chord layout is the same as the xbox. This works great on a TV, but not for the iPhone. They need to redesign the way the notes are represented for the iPhone and iPad so that they are not so small and so that the player is able to see them when they need to be played, let alone see what notes are coming up cause those are even smaller.

By

Not bad, could be better

Song choices are slim, and not really what I’m looking for, not bad, actually a really good app. I prefer PC version cause there are more options to what you can download and play. I’ll stick to PC for now. Also over priced in my opinion but if you like the layout and it’s worth it for you then go for it and be the best guitar player you can be! :)

If they add Crossfade, Creed, Def Leppard, Guns and Roses, and bands similar or more well known rock songs to RocksmithFastMusicLearning I may re-download.

Fatal flaw

The game is very enjoyable and it's getting three stars because it works great with my acoustic. But like every rocksmith version before, the audio lag when using the cable makes it unplayable for me. I've tried PS4 (RS), PS5 (RS 2014), PC and iOS (RS+)--all with the same very noticeable delay between plucking the string and hearing it come through on the game. Adjusting the audio buffer had no impact. I hope this gets resolved someday because it's such a fun way to learn.

1,000,000 Songs, None anyone’s heard of

I get it is probably something to do with copyright, but there are tons of songs, and if you like a song/band and search it, it’s probably not there. We don’t need a full discography of THE WIGGLES! Or tons of artists no one’s heard of. We get best hits on Rocksmith 2014. We get crap in Rocksmith +.

Not only that, almost all the songs are just chords. It is lazy. People need to learn riffs too. Chords are good, and can teach a lot, but it isn’t everything. The game was a million times better. Put some songs in it that people know.

Great playability on iPad with a midi piano

It’s amazing how far iPads have come. The ability to have a mouse/keyboard USB (or Bluetooth) connected, external speakers and a MIDI piano. Rocksmith+ is exactly as I’d have hoped, and very impressive on the iPad. A great practice and learning tool. And when on the go, the ability to have a small MIDI piano and an iPad for practice is game changing.

Great tool for a beginner

Always wanted to pick up the guitar and finally found RocksmithFastMusicLearning that I needed. It’s super simple to set up and very engaging. Videos are helpful and you can adjust the level of difficulty which is very useful for a newbie. Songs are fun and diverse. Highly recommend!

Close but no cigar

I want to start off by saying I’ve been playing guitar for 10 years self taught and loved the rocksmith 2014 game, but this doesn’t come close to how amazing the songs were on it, I’m just disappointed that the OG rocksmith songs isn’t on here, like trivium, godsmack, a day to remember, etc, for a new player this is amazing, great way to learn guitar but the choice of metal and rock songs is bland, I really hope to see more new era music added like wage war and bad omens, or even Black Sabbath it’s a great great platform, but I’m just once again disappointed with the music we have to chose from, I love rocksmith and always will as it is so much more fun to play rather than read tabs and and play by yourself as to where rocksmith keeps the groove going, rocksmith always made me strive to complete a song I’ve always dreamed of playing and allowed me to work on it note by note but I’ve found things I’ve liked and found things I haven’t but that’s nature of the human beast,I would love to see guitarcade make a comeback and session mode, I hope to see this improve but keep up the good work! For a on the go guitar/ instrument experience this is great!

Praise and a small critique

First off, I want to thank you for creating an app that has allowed me to begin learning to play the guitar at the ripe age of 42. I had tried a few others but with no success. I’m really enjoying the program so far and just have a little critique regarding the note detection, particularly when using the play-by-play feature. Sometimes, it moves on before I have found the notes and other times, it gets stuck long after I have already played them (and have doubled checked to make sure they were correct). This makes learning more difficult, especially when it moves on without me. I want to make sure I can play every note so I can learn it. So, if you could fix that, I would greatly appreciate it. Also, could you please add some more Brit Rock song choices, including Oasis? Thanks so much!

2014 Remastered vs RS+

I really like hooking up to the PlayStation 3 or 4 and has more advantages compared to playing RS+ on an iPhone or iPad. Bigger screen, surround sound setup, and easier navigation unless running Apple TV via screen mirroring enabled on Apple device

However, disadvantages for the PlayStation systems… is limited amount of tracks to play and requires purchasing song packs or individual songs at $3 a track or $8-20 per pack.

Though, I wish RS+ would be integrated with the PlayStation 3 or 4 systems. I would gladly pay the subscription fee, and thank you for reading.

A little more difficult than Rocksmith 2014

Big fan of Rocksmith remastered. I wish they would release Rocksmith + on PS5 though. I’ve debated on subscribing for a bit now and finally did it. Unfortunately I play on my iPad. Everything works great and I’m actually finding a bunch of songs I like to play but the problem is that the note highway on an iPad is so small I have a very difficult time seeing and reading the notes. Im not sure what can be done about it but if there is ever an update that should be first on the list. It’s just too small. I’ve got the Yousician app and the Gibson app and have zero issues seeing the tab but it’s so frustrating RS+ because it’s just so difficult to see the notes until the last second.

It’s not connecting to my iOS subscription help!

I love RocksmithFastMusicLearning .
I’m trying to fix why it won’t let me log in.
I have an account and I have the 1 year subscription but after two weeks it kicked me out, I can’t get pass the resubscribe process page even tho I got one. Help!!

I don’t recommend for Apple users

This is not available for Macs, so if you are an Apple user, you are stuck with RocksmithFastMusicLearning . I was able to connect my guitar using iRig. RocksmithFastMusicLearning works fine using my iPad’s speakers, but who wants to listen to music or a their guitar through iPad speakers. I connected my AirPods which created an unacceptable delay that could not be fixed by adjusting the settings. As there is only one port on my iPad, of course, I can’t use wired headphones and connect my guitar. My Mac mini has all the ports I need, but alas, there is no Mac version. I would stay away from the iPad/iPhone version. This may work ok on a PC.

Frustrating

I have been an avid fan of the rocksmith releases and have been playing them forever. Overall I have loved the concept and the delivery on consoles but I find the iOS app to be incredibly frustrating. For starters, after almost every song RocksmithFastMusicLearning locks up and I have to close and reload. So progress isn’t saved at all. The song library is quite limited but I can see they are trying to grow it out which is appreciated but it is not enough. I use one of the Rocksmith cables so sound quality and the notes are recognized fairly well, but could definitely be improved. It seems any kind of fret buzz makes your notes or chords unrecognizable. I paid for the year and so will continue to mess with it but overall I recommend sticking to the previous Rocksmith releases and let RocksmithFastMusicLearning fix these bugs first.

Really enjoying this for playing bass

Been using this a while and enjoying it overall. Lots of songs across a lot of genres for bass and new ones added pretty regularly. Songs seem accurate and sound good. I definitely improved my playing.

A couple of requests if anyone reads these:
1) please add a way to sort the favorite song list for tunings and genres. My list is getting long and things are starting to get hard to find.
2) I use the tab view to play and it would be nice if I could see the lyrics like you can in just the standard view.

Thanks and keep up the great work!

By

NOT for overall learning or beginners

If you want to learn a specific song or two this is a good place to learn them, if they are in the Rocksmith library.
If you want to learn to play guitar and plan to use their lessons, I would looks elsewhere. Their lessons go from learning a few cord and then jump immediately to moving all over the neck and fretboard in the next few lessons. Impossible to keep up even for someone who has been playing for a year with other learning systems. Wish I had seen a review like this before I paid for it.

Disappointed After download

Right from the very start, there is no sound coming from RocksmithFastMusicLearning from the opening video screen, I continue with the setup set up in hopes that it was just that video. but after the set up was complete, and connected to my keyboard via cable input everything registered as it should, but still no sound during gameplay I tried uninstalling and reinstalling RocksmithFastMusicLearning . that still hasn’t done anything except waste my time. very disappointment. and in case you are wondering, my volume was up at 79% at the time.
