This is my first Sonos speaker. I was able to set it up although I found the process a little complicated. I seem to be able to stream just fine using airplay. I’m at a loss as to why I need this app, what value does it gives me and why am I’m supposed to pay for it?

At a cabin in the middle of the woods. Owner has this speaker. The system requires you to purchase or the free app music your songs, not album or artist together without giving you control.
