I was a huge fan and advocate of Blynk before their new version. Even today it is the only app of its kind, where you can create your own interfaces for microcontrollers on your phone with ease. I would have been happy to pay a couple bucks a month to continue to use it, but these new prices are completely unjustifiable. In addition, the free plan is so absurdly limited that it’s completely useless without upgrading.

Fortunately, it is still possible to use the legacy app, provided that you self-host your own Blynk server. I’d recommend that others try that out, it’s not as daunting as it may sound (check out hortio/docker-blynk on GitHub). You can use *all* of the widgets included with the old app, and also give yourself as many points as you need, so no in-app purchases.

To the Blynk team: reconsider this change, and think about what made the original such a success.

BlynkIoT is nice. It’s clean, simple, and easy to use. But a monthly subscription? C’mon. Then it’s absolutely forced on the users to upgrade or be limited to all of what? Like 3 buttons?

I refuse to be slapped with a paywall, and definitely not a $50/$90 monthly paid subscription.

I only have one device on my blynk account and when I try to use it on my iPhone, I get a pop-up saying I need to go to Pro. It’s just a simple LED on off switch circuit. It does work on the webpage on my PC.

They are trying to push for monthly/yearly subscriptions. You can’t even use a lot of the widgets without upgrading. I much preferred being able to pay one time for more widgets. BlynkIoT is pretty much useless without paying as they have put a paywall behind many of the widgets that were available in the old app for free. I hope they restructure the pricing for hobbyists as otherwise, I will not be using the new app. There are many other competitors in the market that allow up to 10 free devices for hobbyists. There should be something similar here. You’ll still make money from startups that you are targeting while also keeping the hobbyists happy.

BlynkIoT itself looks really good though I did even try and use it. After seeing most widgets showed they required the Pro level I thought I would try the Maker level subscription hoping they would be enabled but still have a lower user limit. But sadly several were not. Didn’t look like it would be a too big a deal until I noticed pages were not available. Well that’s a show stopper for me. I don’t understand your business model. Makers will not be converting to Pros, it’s a complete different market and far too expensive for hobbyists/makers. So you have limited the functionality for makers who will be the ones to come up with creative applications and show off your product that might in turn attract users at the Pro level. Someone is either going to need a lot of users or they are not, it’s not going to be the restrictions, beyond the user limit, that motivates them to the next tier. So I cancelled my one month subscription a couple of minutes after seeing the lack of pages and I will find a different solution. Let me know if you come to your senses and drop these pointless limits.

Is this possible to set any switch to auto with time? I means , after 2 hours one of my switch turn off and after 2 hours turn on !?

Easy to use for people that are beginning with coding

Wether its a simple or complex project you need to get done, BlynkIoT solves majority of cases with a very simple integration and user interface. Their documentation is good too which is a plus. I really can't recommend Blynk enough.

Does it have Bluetooth for connection type? Can’t find it after downloading BlynkIoT

The Blynk app along with the Blynk cloud allowed me to set up my IoT device easily and quickly. I am quite an amateur but I was able to do it. Providing a free way to get started is a big help for hobbyist who might go on to eventually develop a valuable device.

Whoa, I didn’t know such products exist. It’s so much deeper than just the IoT application builder, it’s a complete IoT solution with user management, OTA, and sooo much more

I regret finding it only now, after so many months wasting on building my own app for the project my company has been working on

I just recently installed blynk and still learning alot about BlynkIoT but this is the best app to learn and monitor different sensors on

obviously its not just BlynkIoT itself but blynk itself is so useful for fun projects, being able to monitor sensors and control things on your microcontrollers from anywhere you have cellular service is awesome. It’s also really easy to use and intuitive. I like the web version a little bit more but overall its still great and super useful

It provides fast and responsive service but needs more free widgets 😬

I utilize Blynk at a hobbyist level and like many, I was somewhat confused when I transitioned to version 2.0. However I found the new documentation to be adequate for getting started and took it from there. My primary microcontroller is the ESP32 and Blynk has provided considerable documentation for that device. Also, the iPhone app is easy to configure and powerful to use. Well done!

Once I set up my account, without any issues and was able to test in the preview mode. I purchased the service the same day. I started with my PI and was able to have some circuits up and running and communicating the same day. The documentation and number of examples available made perfect starting point for several projects on my list. Thank you for such a stable and easy to use product.

Nice work Blynk team! I love this new platform, I was able to convert one of my old projects quickly and get it running in the new version. I LOVE the web console.
