Energy and recharge rates

People who play games usually want to play them for hours at a time, and this game lets you do that for the first few hours. Once you start to get into the game, the energy restrictions put a serious limitation on your ability to do anything. I haven’t even hit level ten and I’m already at the point to where I can open the game and spend all my energy in just a few seconds before I have to turn the game off and wait two hours for it to recharge. Combined with the fact the “sources” need time to recharge, the game became super stale super fast. I get that you want us to spend money on stuff, but it shouldn’t feel like that’s our only option if we want to enjoy the game at a normal pace. I have already begun to tell my friends who like merge games to avoid this one because of the energy restriction. Please amend this situation so players like me can spend more time in the game enjoying it, and less time being frustrated and angry while waiting for it to be done charging.

Edit: I finally got my first Apple pie in the game after more than a week of collecting Apple cores, only to discover it gives you ONE maximum energy. That is way too low a payout for the amount of work. None of the items are worth what they should be. This is the worst merge game I have ever played.

Very greedy updates

TLDR: The games new updates have only pushed greed on a longer time player and it’s extremely unfun and impossible to gain progress without money now.

Overall I believe the game to be a fun merge game, it was actually the first merge game I’ve ever gotten and I really liked it and I played it for multiple times a day for the past year, but it’s all pretty much gone downhill over the last few months, it used to be the game would reward you regardless of needing ads but watching ads did give a beneficial boost to the game and you only needed to watch a max of 3-5 a day if you really wanted the stuff they gave. But the past few updates have cut event time drastically making them almost pay to complete, they added a battle pass type system (in a merge game??) that requires way too many points to complete in 10 days and everything is starting to have a price tag on it as rewards that used to be granted as you played keep getting worse and worse and diminished. I hate to see the direction the game is going almost any currency is impossible to get a lot of because the developers nerfed the ability to sell items for coins to where you can have a max level item and only get like 20 gold (for reference where I’m at an upgrade to bag storage is over 17,000 gold) which is extremely unbelievable and greedy for your money. I’m probably going to uninstall the game if none of this is fixed or reverted, and thank you for reading if you did.

Developers are money hungry

The game was decent when I first started a few months ago. The events then were fun and completable. Since then everything has dropped or became more and more difficult to complete. The events can no longer be completed by just playing everyday, you would have to spend thousands of gems. The daily challenges are not even worth doing, the rewards are useless. The items of high level items dropped to about 2% of the value they used to be. Also, cant even sell products during the event for cash anymore. The limited supply of gem boxes from mines are not even worth it, the infinite was way better. It has been so difficult getting chests to even progress. The events were so stupid having the bucket spit out both wrenches and knives making it impossible to craft level 5+ items without getting a bunch of crap that sells for 0 coins. The bards quest isnt even worth doing it just takes so long. There was an update that made it even harder for whatever reason until they made it spit out more. For some reason the map keeps changing and we never end up killing the octopus in the castle which i was really hoping for.

Stop making the game worse for profits

I have been playing this game for over a year, and it feels like every time there is an update, the game gets worse.
The events used to be completable if you got on a few times a day. Now, if you want to complete an event, you need to spend money.
The weekend event rewards have gotten worse, the daily request rewards have gotten worse, and the reward pools keep having filler items added in to take up space instead of giving actually useful items like they previously had.
Just recently, they made it so that the yellow gem chest gives far less coins than it had previously, the piggy banks that take 8 days to max out give less than before. I had spent money on this game in the past to support the developers, because the lack of pop up ads is nice when compared to other mobile games, but unless they start actively improving the game, I refuse to give another dime.
If the game gets any made any worse than it already is, I will be uninstalling, which is a shame, because this is the only mobile game I have dedicated this much time to.

Good game until you’re a couple hours in

I don’t typically play merge games, but I was pleasantly surprised by how engaging and fun this one seemed. The look, music, and general atmosphere are all beautiful and the gameplay had me playing it all the way until I couldn’t anymore because of the recharge times a couple hours in. This is where the fun started to take a nosedive, as all before this the game had been moving at a very solid pace, and hitting a recharge time where I could no longer play wasn’t too much of a problem because I figured it would come eventually and then I could game back later and play for a little while longer. However, every time that I have gotten on afterwards, it’s like I get only 5 minutes tops of being able to play before all of my choices are exhausted and there is literally nothing that I can do to progress anymore. The game has gotten to a crawl very soon after the start, it almost feels like the devs don’t actually want you to play the game. I won’t go into it too deep as other people have already, but the fact that the recharge time on source items is so long when they only produce enough items to finish only a couple tasks that you can do in a couple minutes is extremely aggravating, and you might as well not even bother using anything to speed them up because it only gives you about a 6th of the normal amount on a full charge. Also the rng for getting some items that aren’t even special like gloves is so ridiculously low that I’ll have a task for lvl 3 gloves just sitting there and not being able to do anything about it until the game decides to give me enough to complete it. I just can’t understand why the devs would want a game that essentially encourages its players to stop playing it from annoying mechanics that forcefully stop progression.

Great potential dampened by poor balance

The game has a beautiful and endearing art style, a plotline that isn’t torture to sit through, and generally wcratches the merge itch.

However, it’s got a dismal energy regeneration issue, and frequent trash bubbles that pop up asking you to pay laughably steep prices for low-value items, or wait a full minute for it to clear (ie: the same hourglass that is 5 gems daily in the shop is 48 gems in the bubbles). There is no way to decline to clear these bubbles other than to wait, and seconds after you clear the last one, another pops up in its place. On a board overcrowded with different resource generators, this is torturous. Generators run out of items quickly and take hours to recharge, and watching ads to recharge them only gets a laughable two taps back in them. Sometimes daily quest want items that are like level 12 and can take your entire day’s worth of stamina to actually make, pushing story to the wayside.

In general, it could learn from games like Necromerger that actually have balance and playtime in mind.

Game fixated on making you spend money/ and watching more ads then you would imagine

I used to play the game a long time ago, but left decided to re-download it again just to see if anything has changed which the Game now offers a “ watch the ad“ option to unlock certain items because you know merging can take time, but they don’t offer the watch the ad when it comes to all the items that you merge that crate bubbles when given the opportunity. So of course it forces you to use your crystals (which mind you, typically cost all of your crystals except for one to really drain your pool of them, which intern they will expect you to go to the store to buy more) to unlock it or remove. But then it’s almost a headache to try and get through the ads that consistently might go over 110 seconds Just to have charge any item then after you finally successfully find the return button, you are greeted with another 15 to 20 second add that you can’t skip, and still only offered a half charge which typically you can only tap that item 2 or three more times and then find yourself having to possibly do it again. The game overall is fun when you’re completing the task but you can tell. That they’re really focus on making money then creating a fun and enjoyable game that makes you wanna come back and play if Apple offered the option to post pictures of what you’re talking about, I would wholeheartedly do it just so you get a better understanding

Was a Good game, now it’s ok.

Demoting from my past review. I enjoy the story and the gameplay, but I hate how obnoxious it’s gotten about the in app purchase ads. Previously it was once in a while, but now it’s nearly every time I finish a quest. I’m playing the game for relaxation, not to be bombarded with ads. QOL Changes I think we need: 1) The ability to read an item’s description from the compendium, specifically the royal artifacts and the magic instruments. 2) The ability to turn off the item bubbles. they get especially obnoxious when I’m trying to generate more items, as they take up a space that I wanted to use and I don’t like waiting for them to go away. I **very** rarely use gems to pop them. 3) a way to turn the auto-generation of certain items off. I don’t want any more apple cores, pine cones, fairy eggs, or gauntlets. I’m tired of selling them, and it gets annoying to have like, 3 things pop out when I move an item. 4) most importantly, Enough. With the in app purchase ads. I’m tired of it. I’ve been tired of it.

Another edit: I don’t know who decided to make it so that the fae fountain degrades to its previous version, but they’re on my list of people I hate. Bad change. I already had to wait for it to recharge. It added an incredibly frustrating amount of wait time between how many staves I can make. Especially because I’m at a point where I need to use so many flowers, so I’m just stuck waiting to generate more. I know this is a game designed to kill time, but it feels like a slap in the face.

Play to lvl 10 Before Spending Money

Typical of most decent yet severely flawed games getting 5 star reviews they don’t deserve. 2 types of people leave 5 star reviews for games like this… those who were paid to do so and those who rate just after starting and are still mesmerized by the shiny. This is a cute and well executed game that dies from not being thoroughly play tested before launch. The balance of space available to items needed should always be tight but manageable. The problem here is they put waaaay too many branching objects that clog the board beyond capacity from the get go and to make matters worse 80% of those items won’t be usable for many many levels down the road. I have a ridiculous number of items in my inventory from the very beginning of the game that serve no purpose and I’m lvl 11. They do this to entice you into purchasing inventory slots, like every other merge game, but even after buying 23 slots I’m still left with only 4 free spaces on the game board. You literally cannot progress with only 4 slots unless you sell off items you’ve worked so hard to get. Balancing merge games is hard but this has been out long enough for them to have fixed it. It’s competitor “Merge Mansion,” while not perfect, has done an admirable job of balancing and really makes this game look like amateur hour. If you do download this play for awhile before investing real money money into it. You’ll thank me later.

EDIT: I’m bumping my rating up to 3 stars from 2 because I forgot about it’s monetary system that is quite good. The cost to buy Time, Gold, Bundles, etc are lower than others and the inclusion of ad watch options for both timers and items is a very nice touch. If they could just revamp the items/storage system this would easily be 5 stars.

Needs balancing

So the game itself is fun, I’ve been playing for about a year now and I’ve stuck with it, but there are some issues with it. See getting items for generators you would expect to be harder so you don’t immediately max everything out. Unless you’re trying to max out the furnace that’s true, only one way to realistically get any parts for the furnace is through chests which stop dropping as frequently unless you wanna power through these events that have you merge randomly spawning items that you have to get I believe 16 of to fully merge and that gets you 20 points. Out of a event that goes up to 16 thousand. There needs to be better ways to get these things aside from paying for them. Now let’s get into generator items. For example I’m trying to complete this mission that needs 3 items and I’ve tried for a month almost to get them and haven’t even gotten one fully merged. This is just rope, nothing special comes from it, it’s just rope. And because of the balancing in this game you’re sitting at a 2% chance of getting a piece of rope. You want a lantern? Good luck because you’ll need to clear out a massive chunk of area to build the generators to get the items to make the generator to get a lantern and check in every 3 minutes constantly to try and build it up and I’ve you need a max level lantern you have to do it at least 3 times because that generator disappears after you get just close enough. The games fun, but Jesus does it make it harder and harder to play if the devs keep making it so hard just to acquire simple items.

Good game but it needs improvements.

I’ve played this game a fair bit. It’s pretty good for killing time, even if it is a bit repetitive. It also has a good story, although progress can be slow. It has a few issues, which if fixed, it could be 5 stars. My biggest issue is that the sell button for items is in the same place for the boost button of other items. It costs gems, a typical freemium currency, to boost items or recharge energy. I’ve accidentally boosted an almost useless item, hay, 6 times. You’d think I’d learn but I keep doing it. It costs 25 gems to boost it, while it costs 5 then 10 then 20 and so on gems per day to restore energy. This is would be much less of a problem if there was a confirmation or if it was in a different place. There are other smaller issues, like quests not showing up if you have other incomplete quests. This may be intended, but if I have items to complete the quest, I’d usually rather just do that quest right away. They also just split the map into separate loadable areas, which may be due to making room for more quests or decreasing load times, which I haven’t had a problem with. Also since the last update, my inventory keeps getting rearranged, but I figure they will fix that in the next update. I would recommend this game, as it is better than a lot of freemium games, but it still needs to refine a few things.

Disappointing

The game is unique and beautifully designed. The tasks are appropriate to what is on the game board. The part that is absurd is that you have an energy system that gets used up quickly if you aren’t paying attention, however the fact that the items on the board have to recharge before you can continue is beyond frustrating. You also don’t get enough random items coming out of these items to progress at any real pace. Example is the barrel gives you tools and equipment like hammers and gloves yet the gloves hardly ever come out so you have to wait through several cycles until you get one glove to merge to the other 3 you having taking up space on your board. The space on the board is full of random items covered in cobwebs and leaves no room for items you need to merge. When you buy crates all the items are covered in cobwebs making it completely useless and wasting even more space that you don’t have. That is something that needs to be fixed. If you fixed these issues this game would rank so much higher for downloads. Thanks !!

Wonderful, but the updates are a bit off…

I’ve been playing this game for over a year and have been thoroughly enjoying it, but in recent updates certain generators that normally exist permanently are now destroyed entirely when ‘used up’ and I feel as though it’s a step backwards for MedievalMerge rather than an improvement. The game itself is more stimulating than other merge games (I’ve downloaded quite a few now haha) with its fun plot, interesting visuals and gameplay where you could actually progress; so I was very disappointed when the generators I had taken the time to add to my board would be deleted so the game lasts longer (the fairy pools and matchboxes). I much preferred just having to wait to use them again 😅. I don’t know (or really believe) if this is an update that could be amended, so at the moment I’m sincerely disappointed that I might not play this game anymore… which is why I’m only giving 4 out of 5 stars. I hope my message is read and maybe others agree, but I commend the creators for making the game in the first place and respect the hard work it takes. No matter what, I had fun. Thank you!

Solid 4.7 stars but thats not an option

Great story and relatable protagonist BUT storage can be stressful once you unlock a certain amount of storage it becomes a game of what can I get rid of to make more room to make more money to unlock more storage to progress in the game. Also, it’s frustrating that you don't have timers for supply items, however, I understand why this isn’t included but still.
Other than a few problems the game is great and I would recommend. The ads are not click bait and the story makes you want to come back. The art style is nice and different from other games and you don't need to worry about some problems that you would run into in other merge games. It slowly amps the challenges up at a slow pace. You don't have to worry about the game becoming addicting because of timers, but the timers don't prevent you from playing like Merge Mansion, Forevermerge and similar games. And timers don't take ages.
I recommended this game to my mom and we now play together.I really enjoy this game so to the game developers keep the great work your doing a wonderful job c:

Good merge-type game

I’m liking this game so far. The graphics and assets are charming, as are the ambient sounds and music. However, I there are a few annoyances which hold the game back. I feel like there is a dissonance between the rate at which energy and spawners recharge. Perhaps this is just because it is the early game, but I am positively swimming in energy, between the normal recharge and energy potions from the chests I’ve gotten, while every spawner but the bucket seems to take an unusually long time to recharge. I have completed another game of this type called “Mergificent,” and as I recall I also had a lot of energy early on, but there were only a few spawner types which had noticeably long recharges early on, not every single one encountered after the first. Though it is hard to tell exactly because there is no timer given for spawner recharge. I honestly don’t know why the game doesn’t have a visible timer for this, especially considering that there is a visible timer for chest unlock. It is really just inconvenient. Seeing how long the recharge takes would allow for more planning out when to come back to the game and when to use time-boosts. Another feature that would be nice is either giving the ability to remove bubbles early like in Merge Mansion or to have the bubbles float around not taking up space on the board like in Mergificent.

Great game with one major problem

This is easily my favorite of the merge genre games, because the story is actually really great (though sometimes confusing) as are the graphics. However, it suffers from progress being *incredibly* slow once you get past the early game (I’m thinking specifically the bards quest line and the Usurper quest). And even if you have multiple objectives, due to space limitations on the board you often can only work on one at a time. So the game becomes very repetitive, where I log on once in the morning, merge a few things and generate a few more for a couple of minutes, and then close the game to wait to do the same thing in the evening. I haven’t made meaningful progress in the game in about a week, which is fine but definitely makes me wonder if I should just uninstall it sometimes.

Especially in the latest update, where getting mysterious eggs is now SO much slower, this is the main things keeping the game from being five stars for me.

Fun but could be more transparent

It’s a fun game. It turns into a grind pretty quickly, but that’s expected for a F2P mobile game. Waiting for energy to refill isn’t too bad. Spending gems to refill energy is pretty cheap for the first two refills. The biggest incentive to engage with microtransactions is actually to buy coins to expand your backpack. Space management is key to this game.

The biggest frustration I have is with items that produce resources. It’s not clear how long it takes them to fully charge or how many resources an item will produce. You can watch an ad to speed it up to start producing resources again, but doing that only produces 2 or 3 items which isn’t what you would assume. You would assume “speeding up” would get it to a full charge to produce however many resources are in a full charge. And using a max level hourglass which moves things forward 7 hours does the same thing. You only get a few resources instead of what you expect (a full charge) after time moving forward 7 hours.

I hope a future update makes it more transparent how how many resources you get when an item
Is ready to produce, how long it actually takes for an item to be able to produce the maximum amount of resources, what exactly you get from “speeding up” an item, and fix how hourglasses speed up the production. 7’hours should essentially make everything produce the max and not just 2 or 3 items.

Glad I took a chance on this game!

This game is truly a unicorn of mobile games, in that the ads show what the gameplay is actually like instead of being something entirely unrelated like so many mobile games these days.

I love the artstyle and the story is very interesting and creative!

I really appreciate that ads aren’t forced on you, you can choose to not watch them, but there’s also not an arbitrary limit on how many you can watch at a time. So if I want I can put on a few ads to get materials while I do something else.

It doesn’t feel too fast. Maybe slightly slow at times but I enjoy it, it lets me feel like I don’t have to Always be playing the game. I can play it for a little bit a day and then go about my other business and be fine.

On occasion I wish there was a little more max energy but so far I’ve been getting crystals regularly enough as rewards where I’ve felt fine with using them to get refills once or twice on days where I’ve needed the energy.

One minor problem I have is the order of the story. You can unlock cutscenes out of order and it can cause a bit of confusion. I encountered several cutscenes where the characters reference artifacts as if we were presently hunting for them before I ever got the cutscene where we learn what artifacts even are. I don’t know how you’d go about addressing this without limiting the directions the player can go in a way that would be more hindrance than helpful though, so I think it is fine as it is.

TL;DR, fun game, lovely story, cute artstyle, and allows me to choose what I do with my time, and I’m happy I chanced downloading it!

It’s good! But I have some suggestions!!

I really enjoy the game!! Super cute and fun! It’s easy to follow and calming. The only problems I have with it are the timers on the item generators. I have tried to figure out how long they are in real time, but I still don’t know the right time. I wish when you clicked on it, and the time it has remaining until it refills would show on the description. I’m not sure how you would wanna do it or design it, but it would really help me! I would also enjoy hints, because for the longest time I couldn’t figure out how to get the hay!!! I finally figured it out, but I keep running out of space on my board. Even though it’s annoying to run out of space, it adds to the game!! I have to plan and try to figure out how to fit things, even when I have no space to do it.

I really like this game. Thanks for reading!!

Best merge game

I have been playing this game for just about two years now. I finally got to the end where all the main quest lines are completed and now it’s just the seasonal events. This game is absolutely hooked me and I love playing it. Just enough intricacies to keep it interesting while not being overwhelming. There are not too many different currencies in the game which keeps things simple. Everything is obtainable and everything is mergable which I appreciate.

I do echo the sentiment that everything is fairly repetitive after a while. There are only three lands to explore, although they are quite detailed. I wish the required item for each quest matched the result of completing that quest, but it seems that that was random. For example, they are pretty consistent to that a axe or a sword or a bow is used to kill an enemy, yet sometimes when I merge a sword, the character wheeled a hammer or an axe to kill the enemy, which seems inconsistent.

The seasonal events are very hit or miss. Some of them are impossible to complete, Some of them are very easy to complete. They all follow very similar paths with different skins. I like how the seasonal events give your rewards for the main game too.
