Needs more user defined scheduling

APP IS A WASTE!! Don’t bother!

I guess I’m spoiled by the Emerson wifi app Sensi. It is VERY easy to define times for different temperature settings. Instead of 4 SET Comfort Profiles, with locked names. Let us add our own profiles, that we can name, AND be more flexible in using them. Seriously - look at the Sensi app. You will see what I am saying. Also: when on the Schedule>Comfort Profiles page, you cannot see the “SLEEP” profile, because it is nearly completely covered by the “Copy to another zone” button. Lastly: NOT Alexa compatible
I thought that with a 2 zone system, I should be able to cool ONLY downstairs, and leave upstairs off. No - if I turn off upstairs, downstairs is off. I have to turn on upstairs, too… and change the settings so it doesn’t kick in. So, I turned on the system, and noticed after several minutes - I never felt it come on. Checked BryantHome - it’s OFF again. I had it set to Auto. 5 times it did that! Of course, as soon as I take a screen shot, it worked. Not happy with BryantHome or thermostat at this time - BRAND NEW SYSTEM!

Terrible considering system cost

I was informed that I needed to update to the new app from the old myevolution app. Boy am I sad that I did. The new app has far less functionality than the old app, and takes F O R E V E R to update the system temps and energy usage and so on. Ever single time I open BryantHome , it shows me the status of the system from many hours ago, and when I click on energy usage, it says it has no data. I have to close BryantHome , then open it again in order to get it to update. Every single time. The new app also doesn’t give me the option to set the system to aux heat, which I need to do when we have an ice storm. The remote connectivity was a big selling point when buying the $17,000 system. It’s at my grandma’s house, and she’s completely technologically illiterate. She wanted a system I could control remotely for her. The Emerson thermostat that’s installed in another cheaper system has a much much better and more functional app. I’m very disappointed, given the cost of the system.

About as bad as it gets

BryantHome is garbage. The only action BryantHome need to accomplish is letting me easily control my thermostat and it fails at that task. Every time I open BryantHome , it displays old, outdated figures from my thermostat. I then have to wait 2-3 minutes for BryantHome to update with the current figures. If I try to make changes using BryantHome , those don’t appear on the thermostat for up to several minutes. The problem is not my network as I’m able to download or transfer 4K video in no time. The only device on my network that behaves in this manner is the Bryant thermostat.

Going even further, things like the mode schedule do not work. I have the thermostat setup to turn the heat down before bed every night and while that functioned correctly for a few months after the Bryant system was installed, it no longer functions and Bryant support won’t reply to my communication attempts.

I hate BryantHome. I want my Google Nest Thermostat back.

Stuck on “loading data”

Updated review August 2022:
BryantHome seems to be updating everyday And forces me to log in each time. That never happened before. This past update is forcing me to add my system/device as if I were signing up for first time. Really going backwards and surprising quality control of their software. Does no one do regression testing before pushing out updates? Pushing three releases in a week indicates poor testing.

Previous review:
App worked fine for several months and was a good upgrade to older Evolution Control app, but a couple days ago it stopped working. App opens to a “loading data”spinning wheel which never clears. Had to revert back to older Evolution app. The help website is not up to date and when I have called the help number i have waited for tens of minutes waiting to be connected with a rep and couldn’t get through. Obviously customer support is not their strength.

Almost ok but has some problems

1. Quite often the energy usage reported in BryantHome does not update properly and shows old data.
2. Only two days of energy usage data are reported (yesterday and the day before, or quite often from a few days ago; see #1 complaint above. It would be so, so, so much better if many days in the past were accessible, like a month’s worth or even longer. This could be available as a downloadable file on the web site for example. And of course it must be accurate, not missing days as it is now.
3. Not all controls available on the actual thermostat are available on BryantHome . One should be able to do everything on BryantHome that one can do “in person”.

Terrible

BryantHome is such a disappointment!
The old version of BryantHome called Bryant Evolution was great, it was set up to look just like the wall thermostat and was easy to use. But this new app is set up totally different. It no longer mimics the wall controller. Setting up vacations is no longer similar or intuitive. You can’t tell if your system is kicked on and running.
This new app is basically useless. It’s only helpfulness is to change a setting from home to away or visa versa. Other then that, it’s garbage.
I will reiterate from other reviews; Guys, your old app, Bryant Evolution was great. Why did you change it? Dumb idea. You had a great app that mimicked our controller, and replaced it with something user unfriendly and next to worthless. If anyone asks me about the system, I’d tell them to buy a Lennox if they want a WiFi enabled furnace/AC.

By

Good but

Since the last software update for the thermostat, it says it can’t connect to the Internet. The solution is to delete the thermostat from your Bryant account and re-add it like when you first bought it. Then wait; after some time, everything will sync and BryantHome will control the thermostat again. Amazing that 1) this was missed in the testing phase before the thermostat software was released; and 2) that Bryant didn’t fix it on their side. BryantHome is decent (not great); but I would give the thermostat software a single star for this major fail!

Needs time-of-use calculator

BryantHome has been greatly improved recently. In the past it was unresponsive, and settings changes never made it to our system.

What we need is a time-of-use calc on switching from electricity to gas heating. Our utility is changing over to time-of-use billing, which will throw off our energy calculator and could massively increase our home heating costs this winter. If we could input the electricity costs on a schedule, the system could switch over to gas heating in the evenings to peak-shave.

Did-improvement, keep the old app even though it was bad as well

BryantHome is worse than the original. No screen scaling for iPad access—shoes up as a small phone screen (yes I know the iPad can 2x the window, but then it looks like a toy). Can’t find a way to clear notifications on the Home Screen—have a wifi non connected error message for more than a year. Still approximately 5 minute lag to receive changes firm BryantHome to the system. Still some changes never get sent to the system. I have had thermostat replaced once—$800. Have $80 Honeywell wifi at cabin that works 100 times better. Am told I must have this thermostat with my Bryant so can’t swap out for better thermostat and BETTER app.

The worst app on App Store, period.

Quite literally the worst app I’ve ever used on mobile. Can’t trust it. What it says for temp isn’t what is on the wall. Changing anything on BryantHome is hit and miss on actual wall unit. Why is it so difficult to make the BASIC functions work? There’s no WAY BryantHome is rated 4.5 stars on BryantHome Store. Something is way off, don’t trust the star rating. Just look at the most recent feedback comments. You’ll see they’re consist with my experience. Terrible. Devs should be ashamed releasing this garbage. I’m also surprised the apple App Store allows junk like this to be released. There’s got to be some minimum bar to meet before releasing apps. You know, like making sure it actually works.

By

Vast improvement

The new app is way better than the old one in every way, though it took some figuring out. For example when I set “all zones away” I expected it to stay there but it defaults back to the normal schedule at the next scheduled change. You have to also manually set it to “indefinitely”. This should be the default as “away” usually means more than a few hours.

One Major Fix Needed

BryantHome is fairly intuitive, easy to use. My main issue is whenever I reopen BryantHome (and I’ve selected to remain logged in), BryantHome isn’t connected to my system. All the information on the screen is the same as when I last closed BryantHome . If I open BryantHome hours later, my temp and mode of the system in app do not match with my actual thermostat. And if I try to change a mode, adjust a temp, BryantHome allows the change but nothing changes on the actual system. The only fix is to logout, and log back in every time. Then BryantHome works fine. Please fix

This is a joke!

Paid premium for this system and wish I didn’t. Not only will I not ever buy Bryant products again I will make sure everyone I know also doesn’t. They do not care to make sure that the most basic aspect of connectivity is actually connectivity! Seems simple right? Bryant thinks otherwise. They don’t care to make sure BryantHome actually connects to the thermostat. Extremely frustrating. Let me just get rid of this ridiculous thermostat and get a nest. Wait I can’t!! That’s because Bryant thinks their software is superior and will not allow any other thermostats on their crappy system. This should not be legal!

A great hvac system and WiFi thermostat

I replaced my 20 y/o perfectly fine hvac systems with these new, ultra-ellicient Bryant units. They are easily twice as efficient, virtually silent and easily controlled from anywhere with the iOS app. Couldn’t be happier and the additional cost should be quickly recaptured, especially considering the present high cost of energy. Installation by my Bryant dealer was flawless - like watching the Bolshoi of HVAC.

By

Glitchy and poor support

BryantHome has been and still is a glitchy mess. Rarely do I open BryantHome and my actual zone temperatures displayed. Instead I get three blue dots where the temperature is supposed to be. Called support twice. Both times they could t figure it out. Second time they elevated to a higher level and a month later I’ve heard nothing back. Covertly I installed an ecobee thermostat in my mothers apartment and it works flawless. FLAWLESS. What is wrong with Bryant ray they can’t make a quality product. Wish there was a heretic app that I could use to operate my system remotely. BryantHome is absolutely awful.

By

Don’t trust the rating

Why? Why? Why retire the previous Bryant Evolution app and force customers to use this? Please listen to all the customers who spent time writing reviews. This new app took away functionality, its interface is not user friendly and is a big step backward from the replaced app. The old app has all the essential functions and has a familiar look and feel because it looks just like the wall controller. Again, Why forced this change? Don’t trust the 4+ star rating. I looked through all the written reviews and saw 93 1- and 2-stars but only 8 4- and 5-star ratings - looks pretty lopsided to me.

By

Time delay

Not sure if this can be fixed but it takes awhile for the system to come on after I raise or lower the thermostat in any of the rooms or with my cell

By

Go back to old app!!!

New app is awful. Doesn’t look like the thermostat and you aren’t able to make the same changes you can at the thermostat. Not user friendly. Vacation schedule is gone from new app. Shows furnace is “off” but temp is 55, when I know the outside temp is in the 20s so clearly isn’t accurate. Not a good thing if you’re trying to check status from hundreds of miles away! No confidence anything is working right which is the main reason we bought this system. Please let us go back to the old app until this one is ready for prime time!

NEEDS CRITICAL FEATURES STILL

I use the MyEvolution app extensively when I’m away from my Minnesota home in the winter (we winter in Mesa, AZ). PLEASE don’t discontinue the MyEvolution app until to following critical two features are available on the Bryant Home app: (1) Heat Source: allow either to have the “System in Control;” or “gas heat only;” or “heat pump only;” (2) need the “equipment operating status” to show “Function” as either “On” or “Off;” the “HP” as either “On” or “Off;” the “Gas Heat” as either “On” or “Off;” and the “Fan” as either “On” or “Off.” Again, these are critical improvements that need to be made to the Bryant Home app. Thank you. Nightmare!

I received notice from my Bryant Evolution Connex thermostats to install a software update. I installed it on two of my three thermostats and immediately lost connection to BryantHome. It has been a week without connection. No word from my HVAC company as to when the issue will be resolved. Prior to this major issue, BryantHome was working as promised. Hopefully, Bryant will initiate a fix soon. Otherwise, do not update your thermostats!

Now the new app doesn’t remember by information session to session requiring re-entry of all information. App needs work now!

By

Stunningly poor execution!

This entire interface has been a stunning disappointment. How a company the size of Bryant / Carrier could have an app this bad is just inexplicable! You can only see 2 days of your daily energy consumption, the only other option is the monthly use, seriously! IT’s too hard to let me look at my daily use at any time I want??? I should be able to browse the entire history since my unit went in service! It’s just too easy, instead I have NO useful data if I don’t record it every other day in a spreadsheet. Next, the entire app is created for the purpose of driving me toward my local dealer for inflated and unneeded “service” It’s practically impossible to reset the air filter reminder AND the reminder is driven only my the calendar date rather then by air filter flow resistance. STUPID and EXPENSIVE for NO BENEFIT! Last, the thermostat programming is shameful! You have only 4 modes that you can set up! Seriously in 2023! Let me at least have a weekly schedule that I can program in 30 minute (max) intervals and just choose a temp! Bryant has somehow managed to make it both unconfigurable and clunky. Such a waste! I would advise you choose another company for your HVAC needs. The equipment must be serviced through the various apps, The apps don’t work very well, the owners app is purely written to force you to call your dealer. Very disappointing!

Had to reinstall the Bryant app to get it working

I was havng issues where when I logged in to Bryant application it ask for my home address even though I created an account back in December of 2018. The application mostly worked fine except starting last week. I had to delete the application and the reinstall it to get it working again.

I should have tried last week since I was going to call the 1-800 number to see if I could get some technical support for this application since it very handy to set the temperature remotely when coming home from a vacation.

Temperature rarely reflects thermostat set point

The simplest function of an app like this is for temperature settings on BryantHome to be reflected on the thermostat and vice versa. Even after closing out BryantHome and resetting it doesn’t always properly reflect the temperature. The “Home” and “Away” settings sometimes become unworkable. Changing a temp on the phone (when the feature is even available) can kick the unit into “Away” from “Home”. It’s absurdly bad. Enough to almost justify shifting away from the communicating thermostat and using the normal terminals on my unit’s board.

The short version is, BryantHome rarely works right anymore. It has gotten progressively worse. It’s graduated from merely being annoying to being worthless. In the wrong weather it could even threaten your house. I do NOT trust BryantHome.

By

Fix the constant login issue

Have used BryantHome for three years. The last update has made it where you have to manually login with your email and password every other time you open BryantHome , even if you’ve selected the option to Keep Me Logged In. This is the single most frustrating thing you could’ve done. Nothing like needing to adjust temp in the middle of the night when you can’t see the 8pt font on your phone well (not sizable) and you just wanted to make a five second adjustment. You just made an app that was developed for the users convenience the most inconvenient and frustrating app on their phone. FIX THIS PLEASE! Thank you!

By

Hold function

Prior to this update I was able to put my thermostat on hold and it would permanently stay on hold indefinitely. now every time I change the temperature it goes off hold and says it’s going to change temp at iat 6 AM in the morning. I don’t like this new app when I put something on hold, I wanted to stay on hold permanently until I’m ready to change it.

If this is something people like fine, but have two functions one that I can set they have it on hold for 10 years if I want any feathers wanted to go off on hold on they change the temperature. Give them that function. What is the point of having an indefinitely hold function that doesn’t even work and I’m speaking about my phone app

By

Trying to be “too smart”

I think that somewhere along the way the developers thought that it would be cool to have the system work ahead to meet the next scheduled temperature change by the programmed time. This is a really bad design. Please either remove this “feature” or create a toggle for the user to turn this feature off. I want the scheduled time to be the time that the temperature changes on the thermostat. I don’t want the system working ahead because I want clarity of control of the thermostat. Thankfully I don’t have variable rates during a certain time of day, because not having precise control over when the system decides to kick on would be very problematic and costly.

By

Lost access to changes

Update changed the notification that the settings had been modified.
We had a temp change in the past 6 hrs.
Previous version sent a notification and we could change it back even remotely.
There is no such note available nor were we notified.

By

Settings Buried

It still takes at least 4 taps to access the settings. Navigation is so obscure that the developer added a one-time pop-up explaining how to do it. I doubt I will remember how next month. Unnecessarily complicated. At least now I can set whether to use furnace or heatpump for heat. Why wasn’t this done and why weren’t the bugs fixed before BryantHome was released?
Also, the response time of the system to setting changes, such as vacation settings, is so slow that it raises doubts whether it is responding.
I paid a lot for this system. I expect better.

By

Frequently updated - could be better

It seems like the developer is trying to accommodate people’s feedback (which is appreciated).
My system has variable fan speeds but BryantHome will only show on or off in the operation status view. Sometimes I like to turn up fan speed but I can’t confirm my settings actually applied without checking the thermostat (or the older retired “my evolution” app).

Also - there is an hour time difference between BryantHome scheduling and the thermostat time. Makes no sense.

By

Frustrated

Why do I have to login to change my thermostat? I use Face ID and it doesn't keep my login or password so I have to go back and look it up to put it in. Most other apps maintain the login and password. This was a recent change for BryantHome because it didn't originally start that way. It's also very frustrating setting the schedule with the temperature since it only allows for a range of a temperature instead of a number. If I want to set my thermostat at 70°, the thermostat only allows for a range of 68 to 72. And will go all the way up to 74. This is a ridiculous setting that does not make any sense. So instead I have to manually go in and set the temperature instead of relying on a schedule.

By

app is great when it works

ive had the system for a year now and all has been well and improvements with updates have helped make it better over the time. unfortunately the most recent update for sept 1st 2023 has ruined the connectivity, the thermostat can not connect to the bryant server while my home wifi is a non issue. so because if this any remote abilities are non existent which isnt always an issue as for the most part summer and winter i have a schedule set that the system follows but the in between of spring and fall i make various changes to the fan depending on if the windows are open for the day or day to night while im not at home. please fix this broken connection to the bryant servers to make BryantHome even usable for adjustments while away from home.

By

Broken for YEARS

How has such a major issue continued for years now without being resolved? Bryant continues to have ongoing issues with connectivity being dropped and reverts to an “offline” status, which means zero remote abilities. This happens almost daily with no fix in sight. It randomly turns back on. There are comments about this from years ago, and it still hasn’t been fixed?? It sounds like a legal issue that Bryant markets specific things, but isn’t able to deliver on it. False advertising.

Again, it has been years now. Who does Bryant need to hire to permanently fix this offline/connectivity issue? They’re lucky they haven’t been sued yet.

Best HVAC Specialist Ever

The compressor went out in my unit last Tues afternoon. I called Peter Pauley from Prime HVAC & a service tech was here within an hour. Tonight I am sitting at home with my brother & his wife from out of town with the coolest house on the block I am sure! As always, Prime HVAC gives speedy, courteous & professional attention to our needs. I am loving the new Bryant unit! I am able to navigate the web site with no problems, & believe me, I am no techie guru. Thank you again Prime HVAC for your continued excellent service & support. Betty Jo O’Sage

Not happy

Still am very frustrated with BryantHome even after updates. When searching for weather conditions according to my location it shows my home somewhere out east and I’m located in the Midwest. What the heck?? You guys can do better than that. Also lately BryantHome doesn’t allow you to make temp adjustments as the up and down arrows are missing. And every time I open BryantHome it says not connected to WiFi. Have to open and close BryantHome Several times before it will finally connect.. bring back the old app until you can fix this new one! Btw just did update and my problems with BryantHome have not been solved

By

Updates I would love to see

As it appears the developers are reading the comments, these are my requested improvements in order of priority

1) Improved response refresh of APP data vs system. The lag between the system and BryantHome seems to be in the order of 30s -40s and sometimes never. Reboot time
2) As per everyone else. More than 4 comfort profiles please. 1 or 2 more please
3) Predictive temperature planning disable switch if you want exact timing for changes. This relates to 4) and 5).
4) Multiple electric energy rates settings - who doesn’t have peak rate electric these days?
5) Automatic setback for peak electric rate hours. I want a temp offset for 11:00am to 7:00pm monday to friday or somehow link this to 4). Make it disableable.
6) Options to configure the home screen. Maybe this is not an APP only topic. So much real estate on the (rev C) screen, but no info on temp setpoint, operating status, humidity level etc., which us engineers love to see without going into the operating status.
7) Improve the functionality of the manual override. If I override until next schedule, BryantHome always defaults to 1 day later, not same day. The wall unit seems to be correct.

The connex and Bryant evolution systems are great and if we can get more configurability of the home units and BryantHome , life will be good

Thanks

Please return old app features!

The features and functionality of the old version of BryantHome were excellent. This new version is awful. As others have said, this new version does not have nearly the functionality of the old one. A feature upon which we heavily rely is the actual outside temperature per our system thermometer located outside of our house. We have horses and live at a high altitude in the mountains. I use this reading to help determine their blanketing and what they need. In the old app, I could login and see that temp right away. Now, I see a weather forecast instead. I use other apps for weather forecasting (actual weather apps). I finally figured out that if I click into the “My Evolution Portal”, I can EVENTUALLY see the actual temp outside the house. But, it takes quite a few steps to get there and requires me to login AGAIN! PLEASE go back to the features in your old app—particularly, displaying the ACTUAL present outside temp on the initial Home Screen!

Evolution Thermostat

Not very Smart.
I have been using a NEST smart thermostat on my last three homes since NEAT was introduced to the market. And it’s AI did recognize the households activity and adjusted the heating and cooling to keep us comfortable and saved money.
Our new Denver home we had to replace our HVAC which included a steam Aprilaire800 Humidifier and a Broan ERV. The HVAC said I had to switch from my NEST to Bryant’s Evolution Smart Thermostat. It also is supposed to recognize our activity in the home and adjust to save money. I am constantly manually changing the temperature to make the home comfortable. I have had the Evolution Thermostat for Three months with no success in its AI.
I want to go back to NEST. Is that possible?

System works but thermostat is bad

The heating and air conditioning system is quiet and produces consistent air quality. However, the thermostat appears to be one of the worst on the market. It was not functioning properly when it was new. The contractor swapped it out for a new one. The second one had the same problems. It goes into away mode and then never comes out of it. It also goes into away mode at night when I sleep so the system won’t come on in the morning when it is supposed to.
I really miss my nest thermostat and I find it very annoying that Bryant does not allow the use of other thermostats making theirs proprietary. That is foolish and unnecessary. There are other ways to do it. It is a very expensive system. Had I to do it over again I would choose a different manufacturer. Even though the system heating cools. It is not worth the annoyance.

By

Getting better

When I first started using BryantHome, it would constantly lose login information and the settings were very clumsy. Logging in is getting better and the settings are streamlined. Really appreciate all of the development. My only real concern is the maintenance settings. They are fixed. I have to replace the air filter after 90days like clock work and the humidifier’s wick does not last as long as they anticipate. It would be nice to be able to adjust them. The air filter manufacturer says 1 year for routine maintenance. I don’t think I would go that long, but 90 days means I would be replacing nearly clean filters.

Please expand the limit of daily schedule activities

Currently we can only have 5 activities per day limit. Other platforms like Nest have nearly limitless amount of temp activity changes throughout the day. I’m looking to have at least a few more than just the current limit in 5.

To conserve gas and electric, We like to turn the heat way down and only have it kick on for half hour at a time, especially through the night. This alone takes up 2 of the 5 daily activity limits- one activity to set the temp to kick on at a set time, another activity to bring the temp back down half hour later.

Please expand as soon as possible.
