Literally have downloaded and re-downloaded Golfboy over and over and it only works when it wants. I have the perfect tripod. I have solid lighting and it always says ready to take a hit and sometimes it’ll take me 50 to 60 hits before it finally gets one ball. Once it gets, it can hold for a second and then it’s right back to.

I’ve tried multiple tripods at different heights, have adequate lighting, grass, artificial turf, can’t get it to read shots. On top of that if I select right handed golfer, the arrow with the direction to swing wants me to swing left handed. Like the concept, but it does not work at all

I really wanted this thing to work but my phone can’t run the newest OS so it just didn’t work.

Also, there is literally no way to prevent or cancel the subscription! I had to contact Apple to cancel the subscription. I don’t even know how that’s possible.

Nothing works on Golfboy, not sure how it got high ratings but for starters, it says my club head speed is 160mph with a 30 yard wedge shot, it’s IMPOSSIBLE to setup the tripod & angle to the camera properly, it reads ZERO shots I hit off the tee with a driver & will NOT recognize the ball unless it’s moving which makes it impossible to hit any shots off a tee, Golfboy is garbage & it’s way to difficult to use, DO NOT BUY

I just tried this for almost two hours. First, I side with foam balls on synthetic turf hitting my 52 into the wall. Out of 20 shots I was able to get 3 recorded. So I thought it was probably poor lighting in my house. So I took it outside. Tried both a shaded area and sunny area with real balls on my lawn. Two shots out of 20 registered. I tried different angles of the camera. I tried lowering and raising the tripod. My setup is iPhone 12 Pro with a 4’ tall tripod. White balls. Cannot get it to work at all. Really disappointed as I was fully willing to pay a monthly subscription for feedback on my distances so I could get this new set of clubs dialed in without going to pay for range balls.

- Right Hand golfer I had to set it to Left hand to work.
- The Ball Speed is pretty close to Top Tracer that I use 1-2 times a week at my practice facility.
- Overall Distance is about 3-5% too far. Probably a poor calculation with the formula for Spin. I am a high spin guy and this explains the extra distance the best I my situation.
- Camera Review of your shot at various spots through impact are awesome. You can really tell your swing path at impact with this.
- You can make your own holes which I used to make distance shots for each of my clubs.
- Need to be able to keep Golfboy on without screen timing out. If you don’t touch the screen within your screen timeout setting it goes to sleep.
- I used the free trial but I am not ready to pay $10 a month for this.

I love Golfboy, so glad I tried this before paying hundreds of dollars for a launch monitor. I did calibrated a little bit so my phone is at 4 feet but I said the registered height to 4’6” and it seems to be much more reasonable. After this adjustment, the measurements seem much more reasonable and more importantly from shot to shot seems very consistent from a relative basis.

It is so helpful to take a swing and see in instant replay to provide feedback on whatever it is that I’m working on. I’ve only had it for a couple weeks, but I have to say this is the best money I’ve spent on an app in a very long time.

Easy to use and get idea of practice and play.

Great app to use and see your swing. Love the putter feature. Wish there was a club selection so that you can see the stat difference on clubs.

Club head speed and ball speed need some fixing not too accurate but besides that seems pretty accurate

Golfboy is amazing. Really surprised more people don’t know about it. Shh keep it a secret 😅.

Would like to see more features like mini games or target practice moving forward.

I am super impressed with Golfboy. I did have to set my setup to left hand for this to work as a right handed golfer. But for want I want to use this for it is the perfect pairing for backyard practice.

I’m very glad I didn’t buy a launch monitor, this does it all! I can already see my swing improving from being able to use this indoors and analyze each swing with “shot analysis”

Definitely the best (mobile) launch monitor out there.

There are still a few bugs and UI quirks but I’m still giving it five stars for all its great functionality. I like its unique method of measuring distance (from above) as it makes placing the ball and viewing your shot results very easy to see.

Not sure how the data compares to a “real” launch monitor like a GCQuad but I do like how you can tweak the data for different variables like Range balls.

If you have a tall thin tripod then I highly recommend you testing it out on the trial. Have fun!!

Golfboy surpassed my expectations in terms of registering swings, ease of use and reasonable launch numbers. I believe that this is a great alternative to more expensive options for people looking for basic swing figures. You really get a lot for a modest subscription price from Golfboy and I’m excited to see future improvements!

Golfboy has good interface and features. Shot analysis is in itself worth everything. Accuracy need to be improved. My 7 iron swing speed is not even close to 100 mph. But I know the developers will continue to work on making the data match real life metrics. 5 stars

Golfboy is really awesome. And the distances seem very consistent. If I top the ball, the shot goes low and short. Flight direction is consistent too. This will definitely help. Maybe it isn’t the exact distances on the range but they are close and like I said, they are consistent. Thank you for an amazing app that will help a lot of people get better at golf.

Update:
I reached out to customer service and they quickly responded and got the issue resolved. For that alone, 5 stars. App is working!

I really want to give Golfboy 7 stars, but I can’t even get it to pick up my golf ball. I’ve adjusted heights of my tripod, lighting… everything! I’m putting on a green putting mat mind you but i haven’t gotten Golfboy to recognize the ball one time (2 days). I’ll be glad to change my rating if I can get some help here.

I absolutely love Golfboy and I’ve been using it every day and it has improved my swing drastically. It is very reasonably priced although I wish there was an option to pay for the year instead of just monthly. It is very easy to use to set up. I also wish that it could give you tips to improve your swing, according to the date collecting. But even, without those things Golfboy is still amazing. I absolutely love it.

I saw some YouTube video of a guy that set up a net and played a full round of 18 and I immediately downloaded it and made a makeshift tripod which worked great surprisingly. Either way I figured out if you use the practice ball setting and hit a few shots that you know the yardage that you normally hit with a certain club and adjust the carry distance to your average. I recreated my home course in the course editor and me and my dad have been playing rounds at the house. Golfboy is everything I could dream for since I don’t wanna fork over a bunch of money for a launch monitor
