Make the AppleWatch interface available please

UPDATE 5/3/21: The newest iOS update integrates the AppleWatch interface, I’ll be test driving it tomorrow and let you know my findings, but this is a great step on the right direction for user friendly!
Thanks!
UPDATE: I received an email in regards to my review from the company, great customer service, i gave it one additional Star for the follow up, however the AppleWatch interface is not out yet, so still no 5 stars from me. When they do that they will definitely get 5+ stars. ORIGINAL POST: I liked it initially, however I must say that there are a few things that can and need to improve, such as: Create an interface with the AppleWatch: 1. So the user does not have to pick up the phone every time he needs to see the data captured. 2. So the user doesn’t have to pick up the phone every time he changes clubs. 3. So that the phone can be put in mute to not disturb other players at the range, because the volume would have to be high enough to listen over all the outdoor noise. Every time you pick up the phone and put it back down to have the risk of not setting it correctly. Also, in a range you are so close to one another that it makes it hard and annoying to go back and forward to see your information.

Needs Work but Great Possibilities

Gave it (iOS) a try in my garage range with a 7 iron and 5 iron. Didn’t read first 4 hits but then read 3 and no more after. Reset but still no reading. Understand indoors is beta so . . . . Readings on free version were so so with launch making sense but no distance. Would be nice to have a 7 day full version trial. Have looked at many on-line and You Tube reviews that seem to feel as I do. Not all that accurate but given cost still like to see it in the 95%+ area and consistent. Otherwise why? Believe it is a great 1st step but not willing to subscribe until working better with some greater accuracy. Also, would nice to have direction accuracy since this is targeted to non pros but golfers who want to improve. Understand that once accuracy and consistency improved with some more info will be worth paying a bit higher subscription price. Probably not something one needs year round but periodically could well be worth it.
Hang in there with a great 1st step. As phones/technology over next couple years improve, will really help in getting this to the desired performance levels.

Looks like it could be a nice little app, but

Looks like it could be a nice little app, but unless you pay for a subscription ShotVisionLaunchMonitor is basically useless. Only things it tell you is your ball speed, swing speed, launch angle, and ball rotation speed. It don’t tell you your carry distance or total distance unless you pay for a subscription. Looking in ShotVisionLaunchMonitor it appears that it also doesn’t keep your stats unless again you pay for a subscription. I do like how you can program ShotVisionLaunchMonitor to adjust the loft angle of your clubs. As for accuracy, I am a slow speed golf club swinger. I have never been tracked on a true launch monitor so I’m not sure how accurate ShotVisionLaunchMonitor is, but the speeds it told be I was hitting maybe maybe close don’t know for sure. Like some of the other reviewers said not all shot get registered by ShotVisionLaunchMonitor . I hit a few real good shoots and nothing registered. I was using it indoors on indoor mode so that may have been the reason as indoor mood by my understanding is still in beta testing. Haven’t tried it outdoors, but because I have to pay to get my carry distance and total distance and keep my stats, I will not be testing outdoors as I’ll be deleting ShotVisionLaunchMonitor .

Honestly probably the quickest I’ve ever deleted an app I have tested

I downloaded ShotVisionLaunchMonitor after seeing it on an instagram add and had my suspicions about it and well my expectations were about a 5-8 out of ten well when my drive goes 220 and it says 112 I know something was up so I hit my 34 degree 7 iron and hit a terrible shot(which I meant to) and I launched it 60-70 degrees of launch angle and it said 4 degrees and so I hit a perfect shot with the same club and got another wrong result and overall I want to just say don’t waist your money or time on ShotVisionLaunchMonitor it would honestly be better in the long run to buy a portable launch monitor. It was more inaccurate than I thought and also I hit more 7 iron shots and my best 7 iron shot ever went 155 yards carry well it said I had a 240 yard carry with a 7 iron that 240 would be a lucky carry with my cobra f9 speedback driver which is the best driver I’ve ever owned I improved over 40 yards compared to my previous Taylor made r 7. If anyone is still reading this please don’t get ShotVisionLaunchMonitor. Sorry to the developers but to me and with my results most terrible app I’ve ever tried or tested

I think I figured it out…

When I go to the driving range and when I get a sunbeam to shine in between the camera and the ball, the accuracy and reading falls off. So today I went to the far end of the range were the sun doesn’t reach that area till late in the day. What. A. Difference.

My shots were 10 times more consistent and accurate. I am going to my driver fitting in a couple weeks and we are going to use the trackman and Im going to see if my numbers compare. Now I know a trackman is what it is but if ShotVision can be within the ball park I will be more than ecstatic and back in love with ShotVisionLaunchMonitor.

You have to make sure the camera is 4ft away (length of your driver) AT ALL TIMES.
When going from driver to PW, you have to make sure you adjust the length of where you place the camera relative to where your strike zone is. So either scoot it further up or back depending where you plan on striking the ball.

Also, the makers of ShotVisionLaunchMonitor over the past year have been open and receptive to any suggestions and after today I am completely satisfied.

Also, I use the new iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Great outside! Not so much indoors.

So I used this out on the driving range and it works REALLY well. One in 10 would either not register or be obviously inaccurate (apparently I can hit my pitching wedge 200+ yards). But you can go through a session and delete the miss-hits later so it won’t bog down your average too much.

However…the lowlight/indoor setting simply doesn’t work. I went so far as to put brighter bulbs in and it still was just so dark, it wouldn’t read anything. The iris on the camera closes so much -I can see through the set up that it’s just not letting in light.

If this gets fixed, I’ll be a lifetime user. It’s a FANTASTIC app…I really hope they fix the indoor setting though. Lots of potential for a real market changer for those of us who don’t want to spend $300 for a launch monitor.

Thank You!

Good morning South Africa

And Thank You for thinking on us that can not afford those 5000 and more dollars ball trackers or swing tracker or what ever you want to call them. I know that golf is an expensive sport. But if we keep it expensive, soon this sport will die also with the new generation. And believe me there is a lot of good young fellows that can play golf but can’t afford it unless they have a sponsor or a rich dad. And your app is a solution. It’s easy. It works. And it’s fun!!!!! Thank you guys and everyone else that complains is because they didn’t read the instructions or are just jealous of your product. Keep updating it for more fun and effective stuff and it will sure make you guys BIG

Works pretty well honestly.

Took to the range and honestly 95% of the shots are pretty accurate. But when it tells me I hit my 5iron 280yds it would be nice to be able to remove those shots we all know are incorrect. Otherwise it’s helping me figure out my club gapping well.

Any plans to leverage the lidar on the 12 pro for the calibration? Some form of visual representation of the shots would also be pretty cool.

By

Not accurate but gives you an idea

ShotVisionLaunchMonitor itself is not even close to 100% accurate. For any club you hit over 170 yards take it with a grain of salt how far the carry distance went. I hit my driver 260+ yards. Using ShotVisionLaunchMonitor I've hit over 200 carry yards maybe 5 times. One of those being 300 yards. (No shot). With my 4 iron I know I hit it about 220 yards and this says I hit it maybe 180.

It is very accurate when it comes to wedges though. If you go light or hard it's pretty accurate on anything under 170 yards.

I have brought this to the range once and used a tripod with it and the yards were all off. When I use it inside with great lighting it works pretty well as long as you don't go past a 6 iron.

Great app! Have an idea though

This is a great app, especially for free, but I have an idea. There should be a friend section, for where you can add friends and see their best shots. You should also be able to invite them to your own tournament and/or challenges to host with your friends, but you creat them and only your friends can join. You could also be able to message your friends too, and other things like that. All in all, a pretty good app.

Works great at my range

I’ve wanted to add data to my range sessions for awhile. I need a monitor that stands ahead of the ball because there is a hill behind the hitting bays at my range. I hit outdoors using yellow range balls. Set up with a tripod was easier than I expected.

Using ShotVisionLaunchMonitor combined with AirPods and an Apple Watch is such a great experience. The distances matched the range markers and flags. The only exception was when I hit a pull shot (an issue I would like to eliminate on my own by not pulling the ball)

By

Cool Idea, just inaccurate and impossible data readings

If it was accurate it would be awesome. I had no issues with set up or getting it to read my data. But even though I had this off the matt and on concrete (so no vibration possible) and had the calibration lined up perfectly, it was just wrong. 9 iron shots going 190. Sand wedge going 220. Those were the outliers. But still I know I don’t average 160 9i. Or 190 7i. Also I have no idea how it could possible get an angle of attack data. When the phone is in front of your swing and there is nothing on the club to capture data.

By

Good when it works, inconsistent though

Far be it from me to pile on to an affordable alternative to an expensive range of hardware but it seems the consistency just isn’t there. Despite following the setup guidelines, troubleshooting based on others’ experiences and reading through some of the developer’s suggestions in the review chain, I just wasn’t able to get a consistent chain of captured swings on the range. I’m sure there might be some user error component but I haven’t been to pinpoint it just yet. I’ll stick with it and am hopeful accuracy and consistency are improved.

Was working okay…not so much anymore

Had this up and running for a garage setup. Numbers were pretty decent for a cheap app. Within 5-6 yards of my Trackman numbers and club/ball speed were relatively close too.

Not sure if something happened with a software update or what, but the last few weeks of using this I can’t get anything to read indoors or outside. Deleted and downloaded again and still not working. Had to cancel subscription.

Great idea and hopefully it gets some kinks worked out. Market is huge for budget launch monitors.

Very inaccurate

I saw ShotVisionLaunchMonitor and I was very intrigued as to see how accurate it was and to see how much it could improve my game. I tried this indoor and outdoors hitting into a net a little under ten feet away and no matter if I was inside or outside, I would get readings like my 4 iron would go 72 yards and my 56 degree would go 245 yards. I even measured out how far my phone was away from the ball precisely and it still wouldn’t give me accurate results. Occasionally I got a very good reading but it was not at all what I was expecting. Great idea. Not so great execution. Guess I’ll have to go spend two grand on a skytrak

Don’t People Follow Directions Anymore?

I took ShotVisionLaunchMonitor out to the range and set it up per the instructions. It registered every shot that I was able to hit through the detection zone. The distances were registering very close to what I know and what I was seeing.

There is a great video that demonstrates how to properly position the iPhone using things you carry in your bag. Watch it first. It’s really not that hard!

I want to like it to I like it alot

Latest Review:

I was able to get a hitting net and combined Shot Vision with it. It worked like a charm. It is right in line with what I am hitting on the course. Couldn’t be happier. I used my driver this time vs a loft wedge. Paid for the subscription to see how the numbers matched up to my fitting also. It all seemed accurate.

1st Review

It truly could be the future. Unfortunately I cannot get it to work after trying for over an hour, and trying multiple things. I reran thru the tutorial 4 times. Tried everything. If it worked I would pay the subscription. I do not have the patience with some one over email to get something to work. I hit over 40 chip shots and could only get 2 shots to register.

Wrong

It’s just wrong, I started with a 9 iron and it said the ball speed was in the 60s. So right of the bat I was skeptical. I then warmed up a bit more then hit a 7iron which the ball speed was avg of 73. I carry my 7 iron 158ish so I knew this was wrong. Then I tried a driver saying my ball speed was 118! I know for a fact this was wrong because I got for for this driver about a year ago and the ball speed was 150 avg and I have been practicing, playing and working out almost everyday for the past year. I’m pretty sure I set it up correctly but maybe you will get better results. 🤷

Not what it promises

I got ShotVisionLaunchMonitor in the hopes that it would be a cost effective option for a launch monitor and was disappointed. For starters it is super finicky on picking up the ball. I could place the phone in one spot, hit the ball the exact same way, and it would sometimes see the shot and sometimes not. There seemed to be no consistency that I could understand. Speaking of consistency when it did pick up similar shots it would give wildly different distances. On my seven iron I would get 140 yards followed by 240 yards on shots that were very similar. If you are considering buying this service for a month to test it out like me, don’t bother.

Free but Shows

For a free app this thing is nice in that it tries to do all the right things. That said it’s only useful if the data is accurate and it was not. I’d have clubs going 120 yards on the driving range that it reads at 76 yards. Driver it lands right around the 250 yard mark and it tells me 145. Wedges struggled to get picked up but that’s a flaw I can accept given the setup.

This was with their recommendations of having it a drivers distance away from the ball and 2 feet forward on a golf towel during the afternoon. It just was not accurate at all on yardage.

By

Generous

ShotVisionLaunchMonitor is free, but I still expected it to have correct information. The volume was good. Setting up ShotVisionLaunchMonitor to place on the ground, however, requires some finessing. It’s difficult to see the screen to start ShotVisionLaunchMonitor . The yardages given are very generous. Accurate? When compared to a laser range finder, not so much. Seemed to be 20-30 yards too long. Makes me wonder about the accuracy of the rest of the info.

Great support! Quick response.

Just getting started and had a problem with registration. Sent message and received a suggested solution that fixed the problem. All within a few minutes. Amazing!

Works great!

Just used ShotVisionLaunchMonitor for a quick practice session in my garage/practice space. Numbers were spot on what I see on the course and range. Having used a number of launch monitors I can say that this is really close if not dead on! Thanks for ShotVisionLaunchMonitor !

Hard To Operate

I want to love ShotVisionLaunchMonitor, I really do. It is a fantastic idea but I am having a difficult time having ShotVisionLaunchMonitor work consistently. I was constantly resetting my camera. I went out and bought a phone tripod hoping that would help. No luck. Also every reading was almost exactly the same although the actual shot was much different each time. I hope this improves because it is a great idea.

By

Nice app!!!!

I’m not certain about how super accurate ShotVisionLaunchMonitor is, but it’s close enough for me. The ONLY drawback is consistency. Every so often it’ll freak out and really give some wonky numbers. Overall, though, and for the money, I can’t ask for more. Thanks guys!

By

Inaccurate and Inconsistent

The application typically ranges from 50 yards off of the actual club. It said I was consistently hitting my 9 iron 75 when I hit it about 120. Also, it would sometimes say my 9 iron carried 117 with miss hits. Also when I hit perfect 3-wood shots, normally 185, ShotVisionLaunchMonitor said 135. There are still many issues that need to be resolved.

Setting up is hard

Setting up is hard to find the perfect spot

Took away Carry distance in free version

I updated to latest version and learned that ShotVisionLaunchMonitor no longer provides carry distance in free version. Why take that away? It was such an awesome feature. Please add it back!!

By

Very good results

Used ShotVisionLaunchMonitor indoor with a black backdrop for contrast with white ball. For free, this is a five star. Distance Accuracy was within 5 percent. Very acceptable.

By

Inaccurate and Barely ever tracks the ball

I was excited to try ShotVisionLaunchMonitor, but it told me I hit my 5 iron 275, when I really hit it about 200. Then, the very next shot, it said that I hit it 80 yards. Also, it only tracked about one in every ten shots. Very disappointed.

By

Very useful

Pretty accurate from what I know about my personal numbers and what it was giving me

By

What’s wrong!!

I set it up how it says and am not getting results close to my normal. I started with 7 iron and it says it was carrying 81 yards when normal carry 7iron for me is 195. What can I do to make it more accurate or can it even handle high swing speeds?

By

iPhone 11 Pro isn’t supported

Really just want a launch monitor that can do attack angle. Doesn’t work for the newest iPhone.

By

Can’t get to record

I have tried to set this up at the range using both a tripod and on the ground. Nothing happens. Have asked for help from support but heard nothing.

By

Absolutely useless

I followed the instructions that it says and have gotten exactly zero distance readings. I was really hoping this would work but it certainly does not.
