A step backwards

Security services previous app was exactly what a banking app should be fluid well thought out and able to be used quickly the new app feels like the first iteration of the previous the Pay bill feature doesn’t automatically put the balance in like it did before that has caused me to over Pay or under Pay on multiple occasions when needing to deposit by mobile deposit the outline of where to place the check is not where the check needs to be placed to be recognized then when putting in the amount it leaves the decimal point in it’s a good idea on paper for fluidity but when it comes to banking I’d prefer to type it out myself when opening SecurityService it will automatically do face recognition instead of asking you to input pass word so it makes the quick balance feature useless and shows all of my accounts when unlocked in this day and time too manny people with bad intent to not be able to have control of what’s shown overall SecurityService is very disappointing and in my opinion a step backwards.

App Testing Needed Prior

I hope this is your way of testing SecurityService by sending it through email because it’s in need of improvements. So far I’ve only been able to successfully login once and that’s immediately after I download SecurityService . I’ve had to redownload SecurityService three times in hoping that it not logging me in was just a fluke. When I enable Face ID and launch SecurityService , it triggers Face ID despite the login page not even appearing yet. Once that happens it refuses to log me in through Face ID again.
After attempting to login a different day, it allowed it though when I attempted to transfer funds from one account to another, SecurityService turned completely blank with only the menu appearing and none of my accounts. You’ve, unfortunately, just relaunched an unusable (at least as of 14Jan, 2021) version of the previous SSFCU My Branch app, relabeled it, and made it pretty.
I hope it becomes functional soon with some of the suggested features in these reviews.

This is sooo bad!!!

I miss the old app. I tried to make a payment to my credit card. It won’t let you select if you want to make the minimum or completely pay it off. You just select what amount you want to pay. But that’s not the worst part. I made a payment because I had a payment due in a few weeks. I checked back about 4 or 5 days later, the payment was made but it says that a minimum payment is still due on my credit card. I paid way more than the minimum payment as well. This is not cool! Why did you guys make a new app? The other app was great. This one can’t even track my payments. I had to go online today to make the payment. Hopefully that one posts correctly so that it doesn’t show up late. In the 10 years I’ve had credit I’ve never missed a payment. Kinda wondering if SecurityService might break my streak. Not cool guys!!!

SSFCU app

I’m being generous with the 2 star rating. The old app worked great all the years I used it. This new and improved app wasn’t in-house tested very well if I have to continuously manually log myself back in SecurityService every other day on my iPhone.

Once I’m logged in, it works fine. I can only hope SecurityService iPhone login gets fixed sooner rather than later.

***Update: I’m not sure what happened l, but lately SecurityService has been working flawlessly. Now I’m very satisfied. New rating is 4 stars only because I should have never of had the initial login problems to begin with and I’m not 100% confident in SecurityService yet.

Meh

I’m always grateful for a redesign, but I don’t really understand why it had to be made a new app entirely? From what I can tell, the interface is largely unchanged, the gestures still unintuitive and the features just as lacking. I’d really appreciate being able to activate/verify Apple Pay from SecurityService , for instance (having to call every time is quite the ordeal), as well as having the option of a dark mode. Generally, I’d take a leaf from some of the more modern, online banks’ and banking services’ excellent apps.

Disappointing

I’ve tried so hard to remain patient with SecurityService and give SSFCU the benefit of a doubt. Not very happy with the poor functionality of SecurityService- which seems to become worse with each major update. Most of the time, it takes 5+ minutes to simply log in, at the bare minimum. Every single action I attempt to take while finally getting into SecurityService takes very long to load/process, which really puts me in a bind at times when I really need to access my money. I’m at the point where I’m considering dropping this bank in favor of switching fully to my other banks that have proper mobile banking functionality. The “security” focus is only beneficial if it doesn’t make SecurityService an absolute horror to use and navigate.

Constant Issues

I’ve prolonged writing a review in hopes things would improve but they have not. I am sitting here unable to log in since it cycles through several messages - loading information, verifying information, one moment, one more moment… thanks for your patience, … then it stops and doesn’t log me in. This is by no means the first error I’ve encountered just trying to sign in. I am repeatedly frustrated several times a week with the most recurring message, “we cannot complete this request at this time.”

Other issues I have is lack of capability to do a good amount of what you can do online or in comparison to other credit union apps, but that’s another whole string of downsides.

Absolutely terrible

SecurityService is absolutely terrible. I just spent 45 minutes on the phone with the bank trying to get my credentials to login. Got logged in, then logged out because of errors from SecurityService , in fact everything I do generates an error, enter my name and password.. error. Get past that, verify email… error, get past that, authentication through my phone number… error. I got logged in one time, tried to access it later in the day… error. Now it locked my account. SecurityService is trash, not worth the download and makes me question the integrity of our bank as they keep telling me that this is my connection, I’ve tried at work, home, 5G, LTE. All do the same exact thing. So frustrating.

A little buggy. No new front end features

Edit: Because SecurityService still doesn’t accept auto fill from password lockers, I’ve stopped using it. The SSFCU mobile site is pretty messy, but at least it’s faster to access. I’ll consider returning to SecurityService after this critical bug is fixed.

Original review for this version:
SecurityService seems to be pretty much the same as the previous app with 3 exceptions: (1) The user name login field doesn’t play nice with autofill from password lockers (eg Apple, 1Password, etc.). (2) Only front end design change seems to be smaller font (???) (3) On the positive side, loading info and SecurityService seemed noticeably faster. I hope they iterate on this new app quickly.

Developer doesn't seem to be very responsive

I read all of the negative reviews of SecurityService before downloading, and decoded to give it a chance, anyway. I thought that, since many of the reviews pointing out issues were posted a while ago, SecurityService had likely been updated to fix them.

First thing after downloading, I tried to log in, with the 1Password app filling in my credentials... SecurityService will not acknowledge that the password has been filled in, instead stating that I must enter a password. This issue was already pointed out in one of the reviews I had previously read. It would appear that these issues are not being worked out.

Still trash after update

After MANY years waiting for any kind of update SecurityService is still garbage. SSFCU didn’t even bother to change the layout or design or anything to modernize it. I guess it’s not hard to navigate if you can actually manage to log in. For me, that’s about 25% of the time. The rest of the time I’m constantly getting locked out of my account, failed logins and complete inability to perform any basic functions on SecurityService. It’s mind blowing that in such a modern digital age that SSFCU puts almost no effort into keeping up with the times to keep an app running. Honestly so bad I’m probably going to ditch the bank entirely and switch to someone else.

Mobile deposit needs work

SecurityService works well from a standpoint of account review, but the mobile deposit feature suffers from incomplete terms of service and hit-or-miss processing.
Nowhere in the terms of service is a maximum deposit amount per item enumerated, but service representatives have explained that certain deposits failed due to the amount. And then deposit at the bank was hampered because endorsement specified “mobile deposit” as required by the terms.
Other items have simply failed without explanation and then processed successfully later.

Works great

I have had SecurityService for awhile and it works great. Depositing checks is simple, transferring money and I set it up for alerts for any time I use my card it sends me text. The Face ID works every time. SecurityService is great if you need to know what is in you account to transfer money and deposits. If I need to do anything big I log into the website. I like SecurityService a lot I haven’t had issue with it. Great app.

Miss the old days

SecurityService is garbage. I remember when I used to love the old app, worked flawlessly. Now I have to try about 3 times to enter my password to get access and usually have to reset SecurityService and try again so I don’t get the errors. Why not use FaceID you ask? Well that stopped working about a year ago. Every once in a while I’ll get FaceID to work but I’ve grown accustomed to just typing my long and annoyingly intricate password in. I dread having to use SecurityService to check my accounts now, takes too long with too many issues.

New and Improved?!??! NOT!!!!

Nothing is better about this new app forced on us by SSFCU especially when paying loans with them. Now I have to write down the amount due so I can manually enter the amount and also make sure I’m selecting the right loan even though I select the pay now on the loan I need to pay!!!! What a joke. This is NOT an improvement just more hoops to jump through to complete something that was so easy in the old app.

So they also apparently don’t care it people hate the new app as there have not been any responses from them either. May need to look into moving all my accounts from them.

Very disappointed

I’ve banked with SSFCU for many years and generally am pleased with their service. However, their mobile app for iPhone and iPad and the online app for desktop are a big letdown. The mobile app’s deposit feature crashes every time and the online doesn’t even have a deposit feature. During this time of quarantine and icy conditions these are almost essential. Get with it SSFCU and provide your customers a reliable app.

SSFCU Mobile App

I love SecurityService. It’s excellent in every way. It’s very easy to sign onto, especially with Face ID on an iPhone. It’s easy to pay bills, check accounts, and transfer money from one account to the other. Considering that I live in Oregon and SSFCU is in Texas, the deposit function is a plus for me. The only function I would add is external transfers once set up at the bank.

The old one was fine...

Bill pay payment dates on SecurityService are further out than on a PC. That’s annoying. And the pending transaction descriptions only show 5 or 6 characters after the word “PENDING”... expanding that, or making a 2nd line would be helpful, as in some cases, it’s hard to tell what merchant is pending. The old app was fine... seems silly to not just make some improvements and do an update to that one.

It’s not working

And when I call them it sent me to get a person to help me with my account because I guess the site is down and it’s three in the morning so it’s outside of their business hours so I get to guess how much is in my bank right now or drive into town and check through the ATM. The whole reason why I use SecurityService is so I don’t have to fill out the little piece of paper of every transaction I do because that’s very annoying to do when I make hundreds of transactions a week.

First day

APP NOT WORKING

iPhone X- New App Opens and then immediately Closes. Do you all do Any Beta testing Before release???

One of the worst banking apps still

This is supposed to be their new and improved app. Still can’t transfer money to other SSFCU members I have tied to my account. Must go on their website to do this. Also they still do not have the ability to transfer to/from accounts of external origin. It is frustrating that other banks offer this kind of transfer, but in 2021, SSFCU still does not!

A+

Way better than the last app.

Beautiful Updated Look

SecurityService looks to be very well designed. Thank you for finally bringing a refreshing look to modern world of banking. My only ask is an option to add my cards to Apple Pay in VIA SecurityService .

Zelle

When will we be able to zelle? Looks like only the text and imaging have changed. Nothing that I see new.

New SSFCU App

The new app is very slow and Bill pay doesn’t show payees. The facial login is extremely slow and times out before allowing me to login. The account summary is also not as good as the previous app’s account summary page.
