I loved humkids so much until we got to the witch doctor themed filter level with the toothbrush through the head and a painted face. Not respectful to Indigenous people. These types of images are dehumanizing. We are Native American tribal members here in US and these images are harmful to my children. I emailed the support people at Colgate Palmolive Hum website asking them to remove that one filter level with the painted face and got a non-response. This is racist and offensive. Today my son refused to use humkids because he didn’t want to see that image. I will stop recommending this toothbrush, app, and company to friends now based on this offensive content and horrible response I received from this company.

We’ve had this for a month and my son loves playing. However, twice now my son has loaded humkids on his tablet and it tells him to sign in, then he finds that he has far less points than he did before. The first time he lost all his points, tonight we signed in and it was down to 304 when he was at over 1,000 previously. If he gets frustrated by this and stops wanting to play, then that will be such a shame. This has really improved his brushing.

One other thing—the two times he’s had to sign in again, I’ve needed to confirm a link from my email. Why the double verification? It’s a toothbrush app. I don’t want to have to go into my email every time.

I got humkids and toothbrush for my 7 yr old son and initially he was ecstatic about brushing. I have humkids on my iPad and when the OS needed and update this all the information on humkids seemed to have been wiped out. All the levels, masks, gems, points he had received were now gone. This completely upset my son and since he had to start all over now he doesn’t really want to brush his teeth using humkids. I’m still trying to see if we can recover the info, but I think it’s a lost cause. Otherwise, humkids and brush was a hit.

I have always had hard time for brushing my son’s teeth, probably for sensory issues and as any kid of his age (5 now), his priority isn’t to take care of his dental health, as he isn’t used to an electric toothbrush at the beginning he was afraid of it, so, little by little he has been getting more familiar with it and accepting to use it more often.

What is helping is the usage of humkids , he likes the little monsters and he plays like if they are really coming to get him and that’s what makes him to get engaged. I think humkids needs some improvement, it seems the connection with the toothbrush and app some times gets down. Overall it is a good idea to encourage the kids to take care of themselves.

humkids itself is adorable, and my children love using it, but the lack of a password and the use of a “magic link” to log in is problematic. The account can only be on 1 device because the magic link doesn’t work on a second device (even if you have access to the email that receives it), which means children who aren’t around the same parent/device every time they brush won’t be able to use it. I logged out on my device to see if that was causing the issue logging in on a second device, and now I’m completely locked out on any device. If I had a standard password, this wouldn’t be an issue.

My 7 year old has always hated brushing his teeth until I got him the Hum Kids toothbrush and App! Now he gets so excited every night to beat his previous score! One VERY frustrating issue though is that when he brushes his bottom left “zone”, humkids NEVER detects him brushing it and shows those teeth as yellow. Tonight he came to me in tears because he tries so hard to get a perfect score and he can’t because of this defect. I watch him brush and he actually brushes amazingly thorough, so I know it’s something to do with humkids . I tried to find troubleshooting for that, and other than making sure he is in the frame with the dots on the end of the toothbrush and the correct distance, I haven’t seen more advice. I do not see a way to send an email to the developers, so I guess this is the only way to request troubleshooting support? I know this is a ridiculous “1st World Problem”, but for a kid that would fight you every single morning and night to brush his teeth, now wanting to improve his technique (even asking to brush after lunch and before dinner!), I just want humkids to work and reward him for his attentiveness 🙂 I will give humkids 5 stars if this issue is fixed!!

This has worked well to get my daughter to “brush” her teeth but it doesn’t force her to actually BRUSH them.

The timer doesn’t stop when it can’t see the brush, so when she gets upset with the toothpaste in her mouth and has to go to the sink to spit it out, the timer doesn’t stop. I think she’s getting about half of the time needed by occasions when humkids can’t “see” the brush.
The big problem here is when it says her teeth are done being brushed by humkids , she won’t keep going no matter what we say so we end up with a sub par brushing experience that is at least better than without humkids .

My sons (ages 6 & 3.5) love their toothbrushes! They’ve brushed with minimal issues since they got them and it has been wonderful! I do have two suggestions for humkids developers.
1. Create an option for more spit breaks. One just isn’t enough for young kids.
2. My older son gets frustrated that he can’t get 100% because he’s missing all of his front baby teeth and has nothing to brush. Including an area in the parental settings to account for missing teeth as to not frustrate the kids would be a wonderful addition!
Otherwise, this is a great product that I’d highly recommend!

We’ve been using this toothbrush and app since December 26, 2021. I credit humkids for teaching 3.5 year old how to brush her teeth properly. She had greatly improved her brushing skills. We have now finished level 15 and I’m disappointed there are no more levels to complete. Will you please create more levels to keep the interest of kids when they’re brushing? This is the reason humkids is only getting 4 out of 5 stars. If there were unlimited levels I would give a 5 star rating.

This is a great idea and it works pretty well for my 4 year old. He’s doing much more thorough brushing. The only issue we keep running into is we select a mask from the mask “store” screen when we first open humkids , then when we go to brush for the day sometimes the mask we picked is there and sometimes it’s another mask from that “level.” My son gets frustrated the mask he picked doesn’t show and refuses to use humkids when that happens.

My 7 year old son LOVES humkids. It has taught him how to brush his teeth and have fun while doing it! He now is pretty consistent with scoring 100% accuracy. I’ve told so many people, and dentists, about humkids. He’s advanced to all of the levels and is eager for more levels to be added. Hopefully soon! He’s getting diamonds but has nothing left to purchase.

My granddaughter loves brushing her teeth. She laughs as she destroys all the germs. We recommended this product to her pediatric doctor. We thought we share how great it has worked out for us and how much fun she has had with it. If your on the boarder about buying it….JUST DO IT! Your child will love it. It be a great gift as well for a parent to be to have when their child gets older.

My kids hated brushing their teeth wouldn’t brush by themselves for longer than 10 seconds we started using the adult app because I got them the adult toothbrushes they are 5 & 7 and they are the same size as their kids toothbrushes and they are now wanting to brush their teeth all day they would brush them now every 20 mins if I let them they love getting to see what a good job they are doing and getting points to redeem in the store is pretty awesome too. I was so jealous I had to get one also to get in on the competition 😆

Wow! This is more amazing than I expected. Getting my 3 year old boy to brush was a nightmare every night. He just wanted to eat the toothpaste off the toothbrush and look at himself dancing/making faces in the mirror. 😩 Since getting the Hum toothbrush and app, he actually asks to brush his teeth now! No arguments or struggles getting into the bathroom. He willingly starts brushing with humkids /game and is SO excited to earn jewels and masks! Could not be happier with this purchase.

This hum toothbrush is far more cooler than my kid’s current toothbrush! First of all, it is battery operated and the design is super cute, very kid-friendly! Secondly, you can connect it to your mobile phone by using an app and you can really find out if your kid miss a certain pot that needs extra care! How cool is that! Now I can monitor my kid’s brushing session all the time!

Love humkids my 5 yr old now loves to brush his teeth and earn diamonds for masks. I only have one problem we just ran into that I noticed this morning. He somehow has negative diamonds? The diamonds he earned this morning make the total of negative go down so it’s definitely in the negative. I’m just not sure how it happened because you can’t buy things when you don’t have enough diamonds.

This is a must BUY! Especially for your kids that hate brushing teeth. My 4 year old dreaded brushing his teeth . Since we got this he tells us it’s time to brush his teeth. It turns brushing your teeth into a game with levels and different masks and diamonds you can unlock based on how well your child brushes. I can’t explain how happy I am with humkids and tooth brush. I highly recommend it. It is beyond worth the money. Would rate 100 stars!

This thing is shockingly awesome.
It uses AR and the phone camera to read the angle and speed and tooth your child is brushing. It shows a real time feed of the teeth being brushed and a worm on the tooth you defeat by brushing at the right speed and length of time it goes around every surface of each tooth. Then you get a reward and take a photo after you brush your tongue and mouthwash.

humkids is awesome and so much fun. I cannot live without the hum toothbrush and will never buy another one unless it’s hum! Game changer! My toddler would fight and refuse I’d you brushed her teeth to the point she needed dental surgery at one point to put caps on the two front as they had cavities.

humkids has made it so she begs me to brush when she wakes up and goes to bed. Begs to brush after lunch. This is amazing!!!!

Wow wow wow wow

It used to be a battle to get my 4 year old to brush (his dad is a also dentist). After introducing him to humkids, he’s going it after a couple of peaceful reminders. I have told many of my parent-friends whom have kids around the same age. My only complaint is that it’s not linked to more than one phone. So the reward points (aka diamonds & masks) aren’t synced between parents’ phones. It would be fine if we had one device that was always used for tooth brushing.

My kids love brushing! My four year old runs upstairs when it’s time to brush and my 8 year old won’t stop talking about what mask she’s saving up her diamonds to buy.
The only thing that has caused some grief in our household is how immediate and final purchases are. There’s no “are you sure? Yes/No” for purchases, which is somewhat frustrating with little ones because they love pushing buttons and don’t understand they can’t get those hundreds or thousands of diamonds back after an unintentional purchase.

I love the app and brush but am arrived by the account setup information. When the email comes to our account it says that unless we provide acceptance to allow the app to data mine our child’s brushing habits, the account will be deleted. I don’t want this to happen but I also don’t want to allow Colgate rights to my child’s habits at this early age.
