Track energy usage for all devices connected to thermostat

Have a carrier condenser and a gas boiler bith controlled by the carrier thermostat. Love the energy tracker but it only works on carrier products. It could at least track the hours of use for other devices connected to it. Nest does.
Also sometimes I change temperature on CarrierHome and it doesn’t take at the thermostat and have to do it again.

Great Improvement

I don’t comprehend why so many people are hypercritical of CarrierHome ? It’s better and looks more modern then the previous. No issues or glitches and functions quite well. I prefer the vertical display rather than horizontal view. Just easier for adjusting. UI looks sleek and nice. I like the new app. 2 things I wish Carrier would implement is the use of google assistant. It would be great, because I wanted to buy the google nest thermostat but it was incompatible with carrier, so if carrier could allow google to adjust the temperature that would be amazing. Furthermore, implement an Apple Watch app, simple or complex, either way to adjust temp from my wrist, it would be fantastic. Either way, great app.

Inferior Home Comfort

Have all new Carrier Infinity equipment with their newest Thermostat SYSTXCCITCO1-B and Smart Zone. Should be called Inferior not Infinity as is so far behind in technology. No fan option for auto circulate or to set minimum fan run time to start with.

Many Changes, Not Necessarily Improvements

Instead of improving the existing legacy app, developers have redesigned and restructured this new app such that certain previously enjoyed features were removed and remaining features no longer mimic the UI of the wall control unit / thermostat. There is no longer a Fresh Air Control in CarrierHome, nor is there a Vacation Mode. The outside weather has been reduced to a poorly integrated graphic that may or may not show up on the screen depending on which other graphic layer is on top of it. There is obviously a lot of work and effort that went into CarrierHome redesign, however, the software quality control is severely lacking and there was little consideration given to Human Factors. If you don’t mind that CarrierHome won’t mimic your thermostat and it will not control your Fresh Air System and you never use Vacation Mode, aside from some poorly rendered weather graphics, this is a nice app. Carrier apparently wants to be known for poor software implementation, which is so unfortunate given that they have brought so many great products to the HVAC marketplace. I can’t wait to find out how their developers plan to screw up future firmware updates for the thermostats.

New cool look some of the same old issues

Well it used to be that you could adjust the temp and have the option for 15 minute intervals. 2-4-or-8 hours now. Sometimes I liked being able to put it on for 30 minutes before bedtime knowing it wouldn’t go forever.
Then I a big suggestion would be I want more options for temp settings.
After 9 most everyone is out of the house and the desired home temp is 2° less than what the home temperature is set at after the wake schedule. I want an option to add another temperature setting.
Hopefully this new update fixes the bugs where the software on CarrierHome would not communicate with the unit and sometimes you change a setting and it wouldn’t respond or it would take a few minutes before responded and by that time you end up going over to the unit to change it at the source thinking it’s not going to do what you asked it to.
Lastly carrier hasn’t made updates for months so I think it’s a farce that they would claim that they have constant updates.
Overall a decent app when it works but functionally I’m wondering if these developers ever actually use CarrierHome to run their own heating and cooling.
Am I the only one that wants to have two or three options for temperature while I’m home. I would imagine no.
Please bring back a truly customized time entry option on temp settings.
Thank you
Bryan

Carrier for the Win!!!

As the 3rd generation owner of the longest lasting single line Carrier Dealer in the great state of Georgia going on 75 Years, Carrier continues to provide the best as they have done with this new moble app!!! To those who may have trouble navigating this new update, I strongly suggest reaching out to your local Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer (CFAD) for guidance. These hand selected dealers will be more than happy to make sure you’re comfortable with all things new when it comes to your Carrier system!

UGH! It’s prettier, but that’s about it.

Thanks for making it non-landscape & for showing both/all zones on the main screen. Otherwise, the old app was more intuitive and much more user friendly. Especially the hold temp feature. I foresee many electric bills increasing because of this terrible new hold feature. This truly needs to be reassessed and reworked. Previously you could set it to hold temp until a specific time, and then your system would automatically revert back to the scheduled temp settings. Now, you can set it for indefinitely or for 2, 4, or 8 hours. But not say the time when your next scheduled temp change is, or even just a specific time. Or for even 1 hour or 6 hours. But the specific time (e.g. 10:30) was wonderful and I am dumbfounded as to why that feature would have been removed. Not user friendly.

Big improvement

This redesign has been a long time coming. I don't really understand those who complain that CarrierHome no longer looks like the actual thermostat on the wall. That UI is designed for landscape and most people don't use their phone in landscape...making the old experience less than optimal. Not to mention it always would log me out and always felt clunky on the phone. This new app OTOH, looks and feels like an actual phone app. I don't find it confusing to use at all, after the initial very brief learning curve. I say congrats to Carrier for finally building a halfway decent app. I haven't had any issues with controlling my equipment (Infinity AC units and baseboard heating).

Terrible redesign

The old Carrier infinity app looked exactly like the console on my wall. Learn one and you learn both. It’s not a great interface, but it worked. CarrierHome is terrible. It does not have all the functionality, it is difficult to use and find stuff. I won’t be using it, rather I’ll stick with the existing Carrier Infinity app as long as I can.

This is a great example of spending ridiculous money on a product to later have it disabled / crippled.

Carrier: if you want to make a new app, then one: make it universal not just iPhone. Two, don’t get rid of features. Three, make it more intuitive, not less. Four after all of the above, then enhance it with new iPhone support like fingerprint/face login. Five don’t stray far from the thermostat interface that everyone knows how to use. Six don’t get rid of features!

Oh boy, new version! Oh, it’s worse than the old one...

We had our system installed in Sept 2020 and I was feeling pretty smug that I was able to connect my system to CarrierHome and CarrierHome worked smoothly. Sure it looked a little Windows 3.1, but only once did it fail to communicate and I was able to just un/reinstall and it was working again.
So when I saw a new app, I was happy to install it and see how it worked.

Firstly, the weather forecast is taken away and replaced with air quality index. I would guess it’s because carrier had to pay for forecast and AQ is free. So a minor disappointment, but I’ll live.

Secondly, everything is moved unnecessarily around and it is no longer as intuitive as it was. Is this the trade off for appearance being raised from Windows 3.1 to 95?

Thirdly, blasted thing doesn’t work. It will take my changes and communicate it to the system, but it no longer can tell me what it is doing. It says it is off when I hear it running along on high, it says it is stage 5 when I could hear a pin drop.

They overpaid CarrierHome developer and should go back to their lukewarm original app. Or at least give customers the opportunity to go back instead of making us all beta testers.

Finally a new app and interface!

While I understand reasons for the negative reviews, I for one am excited for the new app! It’s about time! It actually works where the old app would never change my settings via WiFi. This one does. I want to applaud the developers for finally coming out with a simpler and more updated interface that many of us have been requesting for a long time. A very long time! Keep on adding features in future updates that we have with the MyInfinity app and you will have an Infinity system user who can stop bemoaning the fact that he cannot use the Nest Thermostat. Thank you!

Shiny and new, but needs to evolve

Very pleasing look, but lacks a number of the features that are on the wall. Someday will be lovely, but currently frustrating to not have all the technology. No vacation mode. No last service note. No last filter changed note (does show filter %).

Probably most missed is the vacation mode. Nest and Home Comfort do a great job. Hope to see this update here soon. I don’t want to change all my settings when I’m away for a weekend and then have to figure out what those settings were, but so much more energy efficient to use eco temps when away several days. So frustrating to not be able to adjust if travel timing changes.

New look, not new useful changes

For the programmable thermostats that CarrierHome is designed to work with, CarrierHome ’s look is “new”.
That said, local air quality index is about the only new info that CarrierHome provides.

Functionality...no discernible changes. Four temperature range settings instead of an infinite number. This is a software-based thermostat...why program it to act like a mechanical analog one? Very limited fan settings...auto on, off, or on low medium or high. Why not also for periods of time each hour? Why not user on for a selectable continuous period from partials of an hour to several hours? Other programmable thermostats have had these capabilities for years. Not Carrier!

WOW, total crap

I sure hope they don’t replace the old app with this one. It doesn’t work at all for me. If it isn’t crashing, it doesn’t show any information. It won’t even get the outside air temp. Total crap.

My thermostat isn’t that old, it’s from 2017, to not be able to work with this. If what other reviewers say about it not giving the abilities the old app has, it’s even worse than total crap, but I can’t be sure since it doesn’t even work.

You need to fix this correctly, with ALL functions from before, or start over.

UPDATE: I was able to finally get CarrierHome to connect to my system. Now I can see how horrible CarrierHome really is. I don’t understand why app developers think removing functionality improves an app. The functions I used most in the old app are gone. Most importantly, “Vacation” is gone. If I don’t have that, CarrierHome is totally worthless.

I still consider CarrierHome “Total Crap”.

UPDATE2: Still a bad app. You can no longer do any system settings. You can no longer do vacation settings of any kind. It shows OAT, but all it gives is NA, so no OAT.

The only thing this does do is let you set your thermostat setting, and see what the temperature is for you indoor.

Great review and much better accessibility ...

I just wrote a review praising the accessibility of the new app. It is outstanding, but I have noticed a few areas that need improvement. When you tap on the "fan" spoken label, nothing happens, or rather, the screen changes but nothing is spoken with Voiceover on the new screen so a restart of CarrierHome is necessary. Also, when you double-tap on the "mode" button, it gives you no way to toggle between the modes with Voiceover, and again a restart is necessary to use CarrierHome again. This is really great progress, Carrier. Let's get the rest of CarrierHome fully accessible now.

Worst update to an app

The new app to control the thermostat has eliminated the ability to set or change vacation settings with a mobile application. Forget to set vacation settings before you leave for vacation, can’t do it once you leave. Need to change settings while on vacation, can’t do it. Want to set a vacation plan from mobile device, your out of luck. Of course you can change settings when you leave and when you come back, but do you really think about that when on vacation.

Also, why change the mobile app to something entirely different to operate as compared to the installed wall control. If you knew how to operate the wall control, having use a different functioning and, I think, more confusing application.

By

Huge improvement!

Previous app was buggy and inconsistent. This one looks much better, easier navigation, and hoping it is more reliable. Time will tell, but so far it’s definitely a much-needed upgrade!

I actually don’t mind that CarrierHome is in portrait mode and not in landscape trying to mimic the wall unit. Much better suited to the phone. But, I don’t think it would be too hard to add it as an option or feature for those who prefer it.

Just a couple minor things: changing the energy calculator price settings doesn’t seem to have any effect on cost estimates, and mine does not seem to be calculating electrical use at all. Maybe a function of the heating unit control board?

Also, I agree that it would be nice to have the current weather and operating status showing on the Home Screen. You can check the operating status in a separate menu item, but a graphic indicator up front would be nicer.

Keep up the good work, developers!

This app stinks !

Thousands of Dollars I’ve paid to have this AC unit installed and every since Carrier had us delete the old app and install this one , there’s been one problem after the next . A couple of weeks ago I couldn’t even access CarrierHome to turn on my AC for days . NOW !!!! I wake up to CarrierHome asking me my location and Home address just to turn on the AC I’m guessing . But he app will not continue to the next page so I don’t know what the heck is going on . I do no recommend this product to anyone who’s seeking a new AC this company app is trash !

Ps I’m noticing the Developer seems to answer more 4-5 stars than the concerns of the 1-3 stars . I’ve read a few reviews and have not seen the developer address no one concern about CarrierHome . Talk about a sham and Con .

Lacks features, but has essentials

The interface on the wall that communicates with the HVAC system is full of features that I wish were also ported to CarrierHome . With that said, I can perform essential functions through CarrierHome like changing temperature settings, selecting preset comfort profiles, etc.

At it’s current version, there seems to be a bug with the AC stage reading under Operating Status. It reads it at stage 5 persistently, but when I check on the interface itself, it reads something else. This bug seems to exist when I set the mode to “auto”. When I had it set to “cool”, it seemed to have been functioning properly.

App is Terrible (actually the worst)

I have been "using" CarrierHome for 5 years and it just keeps getting worse! Let me count the ways: the server goes down A LOT; the password reset has no function to retrieve via security questions or text passcodes; if you want to create a new account or have multiple users forget about being able to get back into the account without having to coordinate with the primary account holder multiple times bc, you know, that isnt a pain for busy people at all. Having problems with your hvac app isnt a big problem but its not necessary to make it so difficult to navigate through with multiple users/mobile devices in a household.

Vast improvement

CarrierHome is far superior to the old app. The most noticeable change is portrait layout that is so much more convenient that the old landscape.
The numerals on the screen are very large making it pleasing for older adults with vision issues.

This is my first day using it. The old app enabled a view that exactly replicated the thermostat screen. That was a nice capability. Also, another minor suggestion would be to allow “Hold” on the main screen to show “hold indefinitely “.

I’ll use it for awhile a then give a more detailed review. Carrier has listened to previously reviewers and responded. Looks good so far. Keep improving please.

Note: please provide a feature on the Home Screen that shows if the heater or AC is actually running. For example, on the thermostat, it shows gas heat running. Also, heat pump running. This is an important capability when in a remote location. Thank you.

Original app was easier to understand

As a longtime owner of a Carrier Infinity system I find the new app confusing. It’s not clear which of the temperatures on the Home Screen is my current setpoint. I also miss the weather icon showing cloudy, sunny, rain.
To me, the original app that mimicked the user interface was more intuitive - even though it was in landscape orientation. Not sure the new app is an improvement.

East to Use

So easy to log in and manage my system! It’s the type of experience that you would expect from a smart system.

Easy to use interface

Great app with an amazing interface providing all the information I need. Thanks Carrier!

Carrier Home App will not control temperature settings on thermostat

Dave Fuhrmann   1 year ago

The Carrier home app has randomly reset for the third time and now wants to do a setup as if it is a new system. A very unacceptable glitch! Very frustrating

App not working again for last 4 days 8/21/2022 .

Bob ACKMANN   1 year ago

How can you come out with a replacement app and remove one's ability to plan a vacation period from your phone! Just kiss that energy saving feature good bye. Please fix and add this feature immediately. How in the world could a software design team think that was a good idea to remove that feature!

Edward Martos   2 years ago

Your app is garbage. Do yourselves a favor and buy a Nest. Take a look at their easy-to-use software and then completely scrap what you have done in the past.

Fan set to continuous in manual mode, but does not run when air conditioning is off between cycles.

David   2 years ago

Yes, the new Home app has much better connectivity than the old app, and the auto feature is nice But there are definitely problems with the new app: Operating Status does not work. Outside weather does not work. There is no way to know whether you’re using gas or electricity on my heat pump system. Still not working as it should.
