This is my second year using Stride. When it first came out I was a fan of the concept. Today, I’m not a fan anymore. I just ran an 9 min mile in a new location I haven’t been to and once I was done, I went to a park, not too far away and did a 4 mile hike, not even touching or anywhere near my precious territory. After about 75 minutes later, completing my hike and submitting my activity, the app gives me a message, telling me that it’s not accepting my activity because it’s a “duplicate activity”—please! How can this be anywhere remotely duplicate to the short run I did earlier? So I did all that hike for NOTHING. If this sort of thing doesn’t get resolved, I will certainly not be using this app again. NOT A FAN! 👎

So the concept is there, and I understand where the devs want this game to go. The only issue with this application is the absolutely absurd pricing they are asking for. I found out about this through and Instagram advertisement, and honestly thought It was going to be a free app. After I downloaded and I found out it was a subscription based payment, I’m probably going to call it quits. There’s no way I can justify 20something dollars a year on an app I would expect for free. Devs should implement some sort of free version and sell ad space for people who would not want to pay for this app. At most I thought I’d be paying $1 for this. Well folks, I guess the “battle pass” phenomenon has officially made its way into the App Store.

I’ve used the free version of the app on a few cities over several months. Fun idea in theory. Sadly, in practice it crashes on me in about 1-in-5 runs or rides. That loses your conquests and any record of your track.
You collect territory by visiting and/or encircling areas, so these buggy crashes are just annoying as far as the game goes.
Writing this review kind of out of frustration over having rode and ran a lot of miles today, only to lose it all. But maybe the bugs are a feature, in warfare there’s a lot of randomness in victory.
