Grand War Crashes

This is an interesting game but has the nasty habit of crashing after you’ve spent months building up your generals, skills and armies. The developer never responds and the only known fix is to delete GrandWar and start from scratch. There’s supposed to be a save and restore feature but it doesn’t work. I’m so annoyed, I doubt I’ll reload this game again. Also, if you want a realistic historic game, this is not it. To win many of the levels you often start with a few units and have to defeat more that 100 opponents. The Battle of Marengo, which could have gone either way in history , is a slam dunk for you once you build up your forces. The terrain matches but the relative value of the units has not been matched as well as with the old SSI folio games from the Napoleon at War series.

Great until it isn’t

You may notice there are two different versions of this game with only slight differences between the two aside from the name. Either one will play well and you can purchase reasonable upgrades until it all stops working. Then you get a black screen. You can switch to the other version (without your upgrades) but eventually it will stop working at which point the original will be working again if you reinstall it ( without your upgrades). It’s a long play con but the game itself (when working) is quite good.

Good strategy game, but buggy

A good turn based strategy game which meshes the game genre with the historical period and freemium time based purchases well. Easy to play and immersive, the game provides historical context involving military leaders during the Napoleonic era and the tactics to win each level reflect keys to victory each different military employed. However, the game has some glaring bugs such as unable to complete all objectives on level 1 on Normal difficulty and the numerous spelling and translation errors throughout the game. It’s clear the developer skimped on the translation of the in-game story. The minor bugs that persist in the game do distract from the fun and immersion.

==========
05/21 Update
==========
The game has been updated to put many top tier troops behind a paywall. While many levels do not need this, the harder levels seem to require access to these units. The developer has also taken more of a focus on monetizing the game as even things which are labeled “free” cost money. The unit abilities in game are also not well defined. How critical hits are determined is not described and other unit specific abilities provide no tactical difference between unit tier and type. The game could be much richer with small things like trait differences between dragoons and cuirassier, but falls short here.

Good game but missing something

Hello developers I hope you see this and respond.

I think the game is good and graphics are fine but you need to add more modes like a conquest mode and maybe even a way to have map editor witch I would love to have a map editor. Creating my own battles is one of my favorite things and games when they allow you to have a map editor. If you truly do care about your fans I hope you can take this in to consideration.

ps: I really hope you can add map editor to the game it’s one of my favorite things to have and others players to have to. :)

Great game but started crashing

This game is awesome, I’ve never been addicted to a mobile game like this one before. I mean honestly if you haven’t tried it you gotta play it. I would definitely rate 10/10. The only problem is that just today when I got on the game it would just sit on a black screen and never load. This was really disappointing to me because I really enjoy the game, but I can’t play anymore. I would really appreciate it if you could fix this! Thank you and god bless everyone!!

Issues with black screen

Let me start by saying I really like this game and have spent hours and a fair amount of dollars over the last year playing. Since last week a black screen is all you get after it loads up, loaded an update and still the same problem.
I’ve been spending the last week now trying to get a response and or some help on alleviating this issue to no avail. Don’t want to start the whole process and lose all the abilities I’ve gained….so please help…..

Game crashing

So I started playing the game a few months/weeks ago and it has been exceptional, I’d rate the game 10/5 if I could it’s just that amazing. Granted, some of the uniforms/tech of the eras and missions seem a bit exaggerated but overall the simulation of the game pays off and it makes up in the small details. But up until a few days ago, when I open the game, it just sits at a black screen for 5-15 minutes until I close GrandWar . I’ve tried installing and reinstalling but it only worked once and after I close GrandWar after that it continues to give me the black screen. Maybe I might be forgetting something but if the devs have a solution I have open ears.

A Fun Game

this is an enjoyable game and one can even learn a bit about the Napoleon era in France. Some will find the game very similar to the designers, other games, and I also found this concerning just because the soldiers are wearing different uniforms. You really cannot call it an all new game when they are using the same method for combat and troop, recruitment, etc. . that being said, you must remember what we are paying for this which is basically nothing! And I think the developer has done an excellent job given his limited budget to put out a game that is both interesting and enjoyable.

Love it, but

I love all of the strategy games from this developer. You can switch from game to game and pick up the game quickly because the play is similar. I’m addicted. However, my game went black and wouldn’t pull up my previous game play. I waited several weeks and it wouldn’t come back. I finally deleted GrandWar and re installed it. It came back but without all of my history and purchases. Terribly disappointed.

Good game

Overall I love the game, mechanics are more finely tuned compared to earlier titles. However the conqueror mode seems to be a great idea that doesn’t live up to the hype, possibly too big of a scope for a ftp mobile game. Massive potential, doesn’t quite live up to it now. Also after the recent bug patch on France level 23, stool didn’t fix the issue. Game still freezes after taking that city

Grand War

The game is balanced on strategy & power. The main screen can be a little “slippery” and makes instruction errors if your finger slides or it moves.
The ability to strengthen your army and generals is very slow, even if you spend money. This makes the game slow. Also, hiding troops may be legit, but it forces you to play rounds to learn where your enemy is, then replay. This becomes tiring.
The game play itself is quite good.

Conquest mode and sandbox needed

I’ve played many other war strategy games and they all have a conquest mode where basically you choose a country and try to conquer the world this game doesn’t have it and it would be really cool for it to have it as well as a sandbox mode where you can create your own battles that’s why I rate it a 4/5 add these and you got yourself a 5/5 good game

Love the game but one issue

I love this game and have played it for over a year now. The only complaint I have is that recently I am unable to use GrandWar . When I open GrandWar it shows the JoyNowStudio logo then goes to a black screen, where it will remain and it never loads the game. I’ve tried everything except deleting GrandWar because I don’t want to lose progress. Beside this dilemma it’s an amazing game.

Very Fun Strategy Game

Please decrease the cost of in app purchases. I spent $215 in this game and $180 in your WW2 game to support you so you can continue to build more of these WONDERFUL games. Cheaper in app purchases means more people will buy your troops and generals, so your company can grow faster. As for the game, GREAT strategy game and very fun. Please continue the good design and continue to release more content in your “coming soon” sections. Thank you!

Great Game. Detailed, Fluid, and Fun

As usual, another great game from the developer. A lot of fun to play. Easy to learn but in depth enough not to be boring. Great graphics and animation.

My only quibble is that purchasing new generals and/or units is expensive, but that’s the developer’s choice and is unfortunately pretty standard for app games nowadays.

I caveat that last point by praising the developer for not supplementing with massive amounts of ads. In fact, if you don’t want the daily benefits and don’t want to pay to play then you can avoid ads entirely. It’s a smart choice and is appreciated.

Actual strategy

I love this game because, unlike most other war games it has actual realistic strategies and tactics involved in the battles. The customer service and support, and the Facebook page are all active and friendly. If I could make one change though I would either make research and troop upgrades cheaper, or give more gold from missions, but other than that it’s a great game. Would recommend.

I recommend people to play this game

Hey everybody this is a new game it just recently came out and I just played it today I played the tutorial and I recommend all my friends and people that I know I recommend people to play this game it’s really fun if you like history and war stuff you’ll like to play this game like me so try it out I really recommend it it is a good game I give it five stars so go ahead and play this game

Review

This game is prefect the only thing I would wish to see is a more in-depth conquer the world game and overall more freedom with how the battles are set up. A cool feature I feel you could add is a playground mode where players could build and play and share their own battle creations. Overall great game, has had lots of fun playing.

Problem opening the game

I appear to be having a problem similar to TheTurtleRepublicator as the game appears to start, but the screen goes blank—-then nothing. I’ve tried turning off and restarting my I-pad, but that didn’t help. Any advice would be appreciated so I can get back into the war! Thanks.

Easy to Play

So far I'm enjoying the game! Easy to maneuver around both with instructions and directions! Most war games take a long while to progress, and you start paying in too soon! This game has better options and doesn't require constant pay ours to play!
