I downloaded SmartTVRemote thinking it would just be a simple “pair and use” but instead I got a pop up galore to upgrade to premium. Literally after 3 minutes of use I tried to lower the volume when the infestation of “upgrade for only 30 dollars” kept popping up. Uninstalled right after that don’t waste your time with SmartTVRemote or the other reviewers saying it’s good

if i could give it 0 stars then i would. after like a minute or two of me using it, this pop up would keep appearing saying that i need to pay $20 to continue using SmartTVRemote . every time i would press any buttons on SmartTVRemote , the pop up would show up and nothing would happen on the tv.

I can’t even use SmartTVRemote . I turned up the volume 3 clicks and now it won’t let me push any more buttons. It just comes up with the “upgrade to premium” banner when I try to push a button. LG is a joke to make an app like this, while promising “free” limited use that was EXTREMELY limited. I already spent a bunch of money on the tv and SmartTVRemote doesn’t take much to produce, especially when it has ads. For a multi billion dollar company it’s pretty petty to only allow 3 volume clicks. I’ll probably just buy a Samsung tv next time.

20$ for a lifetime remote for only 1 phone. Should be some type of plan like 1 tv and 2 remote devices or something. Also have to be within 5’ of the tv for it to stay connected, so still gotta get up to change the channel or volume. It works but could be a lot better. I woulda rather went and bought a regular smart tv remote (which I’m gonna order one anyways) for more $ that way anyone could use it instead of only my phone working as the remote.

When it comes to privacy, SmartTVRemote rates less than a one! ToS and Privacy Policy are extremely general, to the point of being a blank license for LG to do anything it wants, with anything they can collect. There are loopholes in these documents big enough to drive a truck through. How about since this is a remote control app for MY TV, for which I PAY, you keep all MY data off of your servers?

To control my TV, there is no need to send anything off of the TV or phone!

You cannot use more than one of the options on SmartTVRemote until you buy the premium license, so for example if you connect your TV and turn the volume up that’s all you can do for the day unless you buy the premium license or wait a day. Then once you buy the premium license you can’t turn on your TV because the application will not see the TV until it is turned on. It is a USELESS application! DO NOT waste your time downloading or paying for it.

If you’re going to let people download an app to try, stop making the premium use button pop up every time I click anything. If anything, this was a major turn off and made me NOT want to purchase a premium account. I don’t even know if I like the remote or not because I can’t even test it out effectively 🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️😒

Paid for unlimited usage license of SmartTVRemote , still can’t use it as the $25 payment screen comes up AGAIN! Tried restoring purchase, did not work.

Bait and switch app that will let you connect to your LG TV and demonstrate bare minimum functionality by letting you hit two buttons. Then asks you to pay $25 for “unlimited usage”. Deceptive even without the poor implementation. Will be filing chargeback.

In a 30 second period of attempting to use SmartTVRemote , I was flooded with pop-ups asking for reviews (gave it a 1 to get it to go away), followed by about 5 minutes of regular usage before any attempted action (like pressing directional buttons on the remote app) would simply bring up a window asking for $20.

It may very well be a great app but I never got a chance to actually use it, so who knows.

I’ve been trying to watch TV for 30 mins. Why I had to login to the TV is beyond me. By the time I reset the pw and downloaded SmartTVRemote , My show has ended. Now, SmartTVRemote will not connect to the TV when the TV is on and connected to the same Wi-Fi. SmartTVRemote took me to a smart remote that I hope not being charged an extra $5/mo. I was happy using the TV remote and had no need for SmartTVRemote until today. Very annoyed.

Paid the full amount for premium access to remove ads and unlock all features. Once fully paid, SmartTVRemote never refreshed. No features unlocked, same amount of ads, and continued “buy premium” ad continued to pop up. I deleted and redownloaded to no success.

This is not official LG app you are just as good downloading another free universal remote app or just getting a replacement remote.

Everything was looking good around the first 30 seconds. I was having a connection with the tv and it was perfect. Suddenly I get pop ups every time I try and press a button. This was the downfall of my whole enjoyment of SmartTVRemote. After this there’s very little to operate from within SmartTVRemote . Making it practically unusable unless you purchase the premium or pay monthly.

SmartTVRemote has difficulty connecting to your phone. If you can actually get it to connect, it works OK. It doesn’t stay connected once you have it connected to your phone, however. It disconnects and makes you reconnect all the time. It’s frustrating and irritating.

Paid for premium, and it’s still not working, and still has ads. Worked fine yesterday. I’ll update the review if things change, but I’ve tried restoring the purchase, checked to make sure the payment went through, and fully closed and reopened SmartTVRemote .

I know that this is a good app it’s just the in app purchases for people to Regularly use SmartTVRemote there should be no in app purchases just to change a channel or turn up the volume that’s why I put 4 star but other than that it’s a five star♥️

Good day, pu purchased SmartTVRemote about 30 days ago it was working fine. About a week ago it stopped working. I followed all the suggested solutions I even called Apple care. I’ve even emailed you all twice. I’ve deleted reinstalled SmartTVRemote . I updated my phone. Updated SmartTVRemote . Nothing please advise or issue a refund thank you

I actually love this remote app. Yes it is sometimes contrary but all remotes are I have found, real or app. I have an amazing LG OLED TV that I purchased from Beach Camera as a refurb item and for whatever reason the back button on the Magic Remote has never worked. I have another LG Magic Remote from another tv and it doesn’t work from it either. All other functions do, just no back button. So this is the only way I can go back, which is a necessity on any streaming service you use (with the exception of Netflix and I can use the toggle switch on it to go back). So I may have to restart my iPhone occasionally to get it to connect to the tv but it’s fine by me because it works beautifully when I need it :)

I’m so happy I found SmartTVRemote…it works great without any issues at all. I washed our remote with the laundry 🤣 so this is my new remote!

I love SmartTVRemote I just don’t appreciate the add of a universal remote popping up every time I enter SmartTVRemote . The reason I bought SmartTVRemote was to not run into annoying things like that popping up telling me to download a universal remote when I’m perfectly fine with this one

It was working good but then I used it again then I kept saying do you want to got premiums so I push that x button and I push the change button and tell me again do you want to go premium. So I deleted SmartTVRemote bye.... ✌️

It works; except, I paid $20 for SmartTVRemote but I keep getting adds every now an then...please Stop!!!!
