Pretty good overall

I had been debating buying Nudget for a while and I finally did. Overall Nudget is pretty good. I like the simplicity and I like that I get to input my own transactions and other info. The only reason I’m not giving Nudget the full 5 stars is because of the FAQ section and the customer service. I understand this is a smaller/newer app which is why there isn’t a lot of info in the FAQ section… But I’ve been trying to figure out to reset Nudget for a few weeks now and I can’t find. I also haven’t heard back from customer service… And I’ve contacted them twice through the contact section in Nudget

Simply budget with Nudget!

this app is an app built with simplicity, speed, and usability in mind. The interface is intuitive and relatively easy to understand. Adding expenses takes only a few seconds, making budgeting simpler than the alternative of having to spend hours on documenting your every purchase. Tags make this app extremely powerful with the option to both sort by tags and use tags to determine useful information, like what item category is costing you the most. These tools help make budgeting with this app a breeze. Additionally, there are some sweet widgets that can help provide quick information regarding your expenses and ways that you can perhaps budget your expenses. As a final note, this app does not collect your personal data, unlike it’s many competitors, so you can rest assured that the financial information that you are saving in this app is confidential.

Fast, clean, and fun budget tracker

Does my bank track my spending? Yes. Is it ever fun to log into banking apps? No. Do I trust Mint (or any other cloud-based company) with the entirety of all my financial data? Hell no.

At first I thought, won’t this app require more work for me, in order to enter everything I spend? Yes and no. After only a few minutes filling out my basic income and spending numbers, I see how it’s a really fun and fluid way to visualize my spending in order to help me track and plan. I could do this with some boring spreadsheet on my computer, but ew. I can do this in this adorable app that feels like a hug. Plus, I do this anyway when I periodically check on my spending. Nudget is a tool that makes tracking more fun, like a game. I know that incentivizes me way more than a spreadsheet or bank app.

Plus have you seen those widgets? Like Starbursts for your Home Screen. You’re welcome.

Simple and obvious

I’ve tried and quit several budgeting apps, usually because they over-think the problem. Nudget was simple and obvious within the first few minutes of use. My problem with most budgeting apps is that they require too much attention and grooming. I just need something to log the major categories, and track monthly spending. I was able to set up my monthly budget and comprehend the obvious tracking tools in minutes. Nudget seems to have plenty of category-based tracking and reporting features, but they stay out of the way until I want to see them. I look forward to using it over the next couple months to test it some more. Feels like an amazingly simple and well designed tool so far!

Simple yet so useful

I’ve only ever used apps that sync to my bank account and do most of the work for me so this was quite the change for me but after losing my budgeting app time and time again I wanted to go for something that allowed me to see exactly where my money is and isn’t setting Nudget was easy but did take some work with having to manually put in my income and expenses but once I did that it’s great gives me a simple amount of money I can spend and that’s it sure you have to keep on top of putting in your expenses to get the most out of Nudget but at the same time you know exactly where you money is plus I love the fun Halloween update (really hope we get more holiday themes in the future)

The best spending tracking out there

I’ve been using Nudget for the past couple of months on a daily basis to track my spending. I love the tag features and how easy it makes it to categorize different purchases. With this most recent update, the dev has addressed some layout issues with split screen on iPad and has FINALLY fixed the magic keyboard bug that was on the previous version. Other than that Nudget has proven to be reliable and the fact that it’s just getting better, well I couldn’t ask for more. This is a dead simple, user friendly budget/spending tracker that I would recommend to anyone reading this.

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it

This was my favorite budgeting app by FAR, and still is. But some UI/UX changes (removing simplicity of the budget tab) are making me give this 4/5 stars now. The history tab looks so cluttered and confusing now, I’m not even sure how to see a simple summary of my overall budget settings after this 3.0 update, I wish there were either better instructions or a way to revert this update. I still love Nudget, just not quite as much (unless I’m missing something and this is still viewable somehow…)

Clean app, no more issues!

Love the style and feel of Nudget! Didn’t mind the price for a clean and simple user interface that does exactly what I need it to do.

However! I have been unable to add any tags, the menu appears to be broken. I can click Edit and Done, but nothing changes and I’m unable to add the necessary tags to track my spending properly.

Would love to see this fixed so I can use Nudget to its fullest potential!

Edit: As it turns out, I’m an idiot! All I needed to do to save the tag I created was press “return” on my keyboard and sure enough, the tags worked. Props to the developer for reaching out super quickly and letting me know where I’d gone wrong. Definitely worthy of the 5 stars!

I would say, however, that the edit/done button should change to an “add” button once you’re done typing in the tag. I believe it’d flow better with standard iOS design.

This app has helped my partner and I save for a house!!

I absolutely love Nudget. It makes it super easy to keep up with expenses and day to day purchases. The widget is perfectly simple and looks great on my Home Screen. I think one thing I would love to see as Nudget continues to develop is a way to see running totals for each category for the Day, Week, Month, Quarter, and Year. It would be a big help to see which areas we are spending a lot in instead of just seeing the total for the most speedy category. Thank you for Nudget!!!!

Really good and nicely designed

Overall I love the concept and simplicity. I have an issue where if I’m not spending any money it won’t show how far under budget I am for anything besides the day. Would be nice for it to notice that I haven’t spend anything the last couple days and show that I’m how much under budget I am on the week/month.

best budgeting app for people with a budget

this app is the absolute best budgeting app that anyone could use when they already have the budget figured out. I know exactly how much money I have left over to freely spend every paycheck, I don’t need help figuring it out. this app keeps track of what I have spent each paycheck that way I don’t go and spend more than that. If what you’re looking for is something well designed, pretty to look at, and extremely useful then this is Nudget for you.

Bring. The. Budget. Tab. Back!

Desperately needs the budget tab back. The update slightly improved this, but not by enough. I'd use this to set aside savings every month. Save more this month so I have more for the holidays, stuff like that. See what I could spend each week to still hit my savings goals. It was easy to modify recurring payments like subscriptions and rent as they change. Now ALL of this is more difficult and all of your income is split off.
this app was at the center of my spending and saving. It was one of my favorite apps. Now it's going to be a lot more difficult to use, and I just can't see using it as much. The budget tab was great. Now it's gone. Nudget desperately needs a rollback.

Simple and Effective

Best budgeting app I’ve ever used. All the others either have crappy automated tracking that doesn’t work, or are so convoluted as to be functionally useless. I like manually entering spending because it forces me to actually be more mindful about it. Easy to make a habit of recording each expenditure in here! I can’t think of anything else I’d like to see except maybe some more info in the insights column over time? Maybe an option to track savings separately?

Needs Improvement, but handy

I would like to be able to make budgets for individual categories so that I can view my overspending/lack thereof in specific categories. Nevertheless, I think it’s a handy tool for folks not very familiar with excel, such as myself. I might end up switching to excel for budgeting purposes once I learn it more, but for now I’m okay using this app because at the very least I know I can log in my expenses.

Also, I have no idea how income is supposed to work on Nudget …we can add an income but it also asks for an income on the budget tab…so?

Finally an easy to use budget app!

I really like Nudget, it does exactly what I need. The beauty of Nudget is in its simplicity. I hate when it takes a long time to enter in details to an app. Nudget is quick and the insights are useful to me.

I feel that Nudget really needs a tab with some chart visualizations so that I can see my spending overtime and compare months or weeks.

Keep up the good work developers!

*EDIT* UI change and "pro" update made the app worse

Edit:
They gave pro for free to people that had it before pro came out. This fixes almost all of my issues. Good looks!

Old Review:
Was a great app at first, and I still believe its alright, but the removal of the budget tab and memos (even though the ui still shows memo text field) dropped the quality of usage for non-pros like me substantially.

Fast and minimal!

Love Nudget. It’s really good. A great budgeting app that’s light and minimal. No unnecessary bank account linking that would put purchases in the wrong category. It’s all manual and it really works! I highly recommend Nudget if you’re serious about getting into a budget plan. I recommend it to my friends all the time!

Plus: the little pride icons that came out are so cute! :) keep up the good work :)

This is the budget app I needed!

I love Nudget so much! It makes budgeting so easy and I find myself saving money because of how simple it is to use.

The widgets are out of this world, give me insight to my my spending without even having to open Nudget .

I can’t imagine going back to not having this utility in my life. Thank you so much to the developer!

What happed to the budget tab?

All of a sudden my budget tab is gone which makes Nudget useless. I would normally never leave a 1 star review to complain about an issue but my 2 emails to support have gone un-answered. I guess I just need somebody to explain to me how to use a budget app that does not allow you to create or tweak a budget?

Needs a bit more flexibility

I have money saved up but not a high enough income at the moment and Nudget doesn’t help with this as it only counts your income. So if someone lost their job or started making less money then you can’t use Nudget . I guess I could just add my estimated income and savings.

Sorry about the previous review.

App does not work on Small Screens

Nudget does not work on small screens, - even after 3.1.1 - namely the current iPhone SE running the current app version 3.3.

The keypad to input transactions is clipped by the bottom tab bar preventing the most basic functionality of Nudget, tracking spending.

Save your money if you have a smaller device.

To the developer,
please read below

3.1.1 did NOT solve this issue.
It is the cause of this issue, and is still unresolved

Prior to this version (3.1.1) Nudget was usable, but visually “janky” on the iPhone SE as the bottom row of the keypad (backspace, 0 and submit) buttons were only *partially* clipped but still interactable.

After the 3.1.1 update, and in all subsequent versions (including the current 3.3 version), the bottom row of the keypad is completely obscured by the navigation tabs.

I’ve sent 2 or 3 emails now to the developer email indicated in previous reviews, and it’s a bit frustrating to get back no response aside from “This was fixed in 3.1.1, email me”.

I have, I cannot contact you and Nudget does not work for me and the small minority of users with smaller screen sizes.

I’m not sure what else I can do beside leave a negative review as a cautionary tale.

Good for expense tracking, missing a lot of features though

It’d be great to have some bugs fixed (like display issues if you use / or \ or | characters in your category names), or some new features. Nudget is useful, and it achieves my privacy goals. I’d like to see more easy treatment of dates (if you’re entering a bunch of things for yesterday then it’s difficult from a usability perspective), and the way that repeating transactions happens is weird.

All of that said, Nudget is really useful and I use it all the time.

Love This! One suggestion

Love Nudget so much, it’s not too much all in your face, you have full control, and you don’t have to connect your bank account which means full customization!

My only suggestion is the ability to put your Bills in a subcategory so that my most speedy widget wasn’t Rent every month lol, but that’s it! 100% would recommend!

Super quick and convenient

app is perfect for tracking every expense without needing to link bank accounts. I simply turn on notifications from my banking apps to notify me about every transaction, and whenever I swipe my card or do any other transaction I get a bank notification. Putting that info in Nudget takes seconds.

Removed one star only because I don’t understand how the insights section works, I don’t see what budget it’s using for its calculations since I didn’t specify a budget
