Won’t register my cords

URBANGuitar keeps saying that I am not playing the correct cord. Which is not correct. I bought this whole system to try to learn guitar and make it as user-friendly as possible and all it has done is make me mad. URBANGuitar is very capable of registering what chords I’m on unless it’s the one that I’m supposed to be playing.

HOW TO FIX YOUR APP (Never mind)

Chords seldom register past a certain playtime from what I can tell. Im not sure if this is planned obsolescence or some internal function failing (hopefully the ladder), but all you have to do is uninstall and then reinstall. I'm not sure why this works but it does. Why the one star? I'm pretty sure this is a planned obsolescence situation and it makes me more upset knowing how to fix this than if i had no clue at all. Keith, my friend, I had no clue who you were before buying your guitar from costco and downloading your app. PLEASE FIX YOUR APP. I have loved learning guitar and i would hope that none would cease learning because of the crappy app you endorse. But in honest heart, all the best.

Revise: Never mind there seems to be no rhyme or reason to URBANGuitar just suddenly sucking. One minute the feedback works and then another it just stops. Garbage app. Ive put to much time into URBANGuitar for it to stop working now.

Can’t register my guitar

URBANGuitar won’t let me register my guitar. It’s a Ibanez acoustic/Electric. I really wanted to do URBANGuitar and it just won’t let me use my guitar to continue lessons. Which I would get a Keith Urban guitar but I would like to use mine. I see no point in spending money for a guitar when I already have a really good one.

Terrible app for new players

The instruction and speed is way too fast. I have been learning with Mel Bay and Hal Leonard for nine months and know how to sight read from first position, know all major , minor and 7th chord shapes and this is way too advanced. First song with a D minor? Not the easiest chord to hit as a beginner. Four finger G major chord before mastering three finger method? Introducing varied strum patterns in song #2? Trying to sip from a fire hose with this one. Guitar is a decent starter, but forget trying to learn with URBANGuitar.

Super Unreliable App.

I use my iPad for URBANGuitar. I installed it on my iPad first when I got it. It worked for little while. But it stopped working as soon as a new iOS update came out. To be fair, it works somewhat better on iPhone. I wish Urban guitar keeps up with this guitar lesson app.

Disappointed

I bought the keith Urban guitar several years ago before URBANGuitar was a thing. I got the CD lessons I wanted to do URBANGuitar as it would be a lot easier for me to be able to just randomly do it whenever but apparently I can’t because you have to have a serial number found on the newer sold guitars.

Gets worse and worse

The ability of URBANGuitar to recognize accurately chords and strums just gets worse. And now if you miss one chord/strum it marks the next 2 one 3 wrong in the feedback bar. Or the bar will be all green with 2 tiniest bits of red and its 91% accuracy (then 9% of the bar should be red not .5%). Rhythm sections are strung together with each section advancing in difficulty…so when you mess up in the 3rd you can’t just go to that section to practice you have to do the parts you didn’t have a problem with and sometimes your fingers get tired before you can focus on what you are actually having problems with. Also you have the ability to slow tempo on sections but when you do it fails to recognize any strums played (thus pointless). The content is lacking any sort of actual help on how to play the guitar well focusing on chord shapes and some strumming… nothing on pick angles how to move your arm or wrist for better sounds. I’ve been using URBANGuitar for 11 months, 6 days a week and I’ll put it this way. If I didn’t have the urban guitar that URBANGuitar is designed for I would not use it and I’m so frustrated that I will most likely not use it for the remaining songs. URBANGuitar only adds frustration to the process of learning the guitar and I would rather pay money for different apps or sites.

Can’t fix latency issues and chord recognitions

I’m on time and correct chord, but app doesn’t register, and the backing track is about an 1/8 beat off.

Epic failure once you move out of beginner songs

I have had repeated failures of URBANGuitar to recognize chords once I have moved into the intermediate songs. I contacted support several times and they claim that no one has ever had this problem before and it must be my iPad, so if I switch to my phone everything would be okay. Wrong! The only “fix” I have found involves deleting and reinstalling URBANGuitar but the problems are still becoming more frequent and it is very discouraging to waste so much practice time trying to get URBANGuitar to work for me. I lost a lot of data on my account the last time I deleted to reinstall. If I had it to do over again I would have not bought this package because the frustration and aggravation from URBANGuitar is destroying the fun of learning to play guitar.

Chords don’t register

I like the idea of URBANGuitar and it’s giving me the motivation to learn guitar, but the chords don’t always register properly even when I know I’m playing them correctly. This is pretty annoying during a lesson because no matter how many times you play the chord correctly, it thinks you’re playing it wrong, interrupting the flow.

It’s alright

I’m kinda aggravating just spent a lot of time making so much progress just for it to be thrown away because it didn’t save and now I have to start the lesson over and lost all my exp but you know it’s fun

Why only one guitar?

I like URBANGuitar , it has amazing resources and it has people who really know what they are doing. But it is a bit aggravating that it won’t let you use any other Yamaha guitar and it requires you to use a specific guitar. I don’t want to spend $250 on a guitar to use an app when I could just use the guitar I already have. If it could please be possible to make it so it lets you use any Yamaha guitar that would be awesome.

App keeps crashing

I’ve been working on practicing the rhythms of some of the songs and half way through the exercises URBANGuitar crashes and closes, losing all the progress put it. It causes me to start from the beginning of the exercise and and not allowing me to work on the cords that need practice. This is the only issue I’ve came across so far; but other than that I’ve enjoyed URBANGuitar and the walkthroughs. I would like it they thought you how you’re properly suppose to strum; or how to better use your right hand.

Rhythm “tutorial”

During the rhythm lessons, the drum is playing a different tempo than what you supposed to be strumming. You’re better off skipping those or playing them on mute.

Really love app, but inconsistent in chord recognition

URBANGuitar does an excellent job at so many things, but for some reason, it cannot pick up several chords from my guitar regularly. On the first recommended song, it is irregular in picking up A minor and D, which are half the chords. The organization, the lessons, the interface are all top tier- it just needs some work on the chord recognition and itd be my favorite app. However, until then, I’ll be in “practice mode” purgatory.

App gets “stuck”

Now that I am into the “songs” part of the lessons, I can’t seem to go back and review previous lessons.

I deleted URBANGuitar and am going to attempt to get back to the desired lesson(s).

Was really hoping for more with Keith Urban involved. I like the lady he has teaching, but Keith is not really involved. Shame, cause he is awesome!
