Edit: CrankIt completely stopped working without warning on both my iPhone and iPad. I know it’s not my receiver because my Marantz Remote App still works fine. Shame. I enjoyed it.

An app created by an enthusiast to solve a problem - the Marantz app is slow, old looking, and unintuitive (though has additional functionality that frankly you should be using the standard remote for anyway). Want to crank a song you’re listening to but only have your phone in reach, because let’s face it it’s always in reach, just fire up this lightweight app and slide up! Much love from r/audiophile

Was cautiously optimistic—the Denon app is abysmal and am eager to find an alternative. Crank it found my receiver on the network, but then just hangs indefinitely while “connecting.” Alas, back to the drawing board.

Worked immediately and picked up my denon avr-s750, which the denon app could not!
But I was hoping for zone control so I could use it for controlling my outside speakers on zone 2.

After years of working flawlessly, Crank It stopped finding and connecting to my Denon. I have resorted to manually inputting the IP address to connect. Any suggestions other than unplugging receiver (didn’t work) would be appreciated. Love CrankIt!

Simple, and much more useful than the confusing, and unreliable Denon app. Once a receiver is setup, people want to change the source, and volume, quickly and reliably. This accomplishes that in a very intuitive and creative way. D&M should hire the developer to fix their failed remote control app. On top of that, I would have paid $5.00 for a good remote like this that works well, and the developer gives it away to the world, ad-free. Thank you sir!!!

Now, a nice feature to add would be to have the ability to make a widget or Siri command that you can one click turn on the receiver and change to a specific input (Sonos Port users anyone?). Maybe a premium feature offering someday, or in-app purchase?? A guy can only hope so. Either way, great work!

I have a Denon AVR-X3300W and it works flawlessly. Puts the most used controls right at your fingertips.

The regular Denon AVR app has always been rather slow and makes it somewhat difficult to do simple things such as change the volume.

I love that CrankIt places volume control front and center, and it even has a nifty dark mode!

Highly recommended!!!!

Works great with my Denon S740H and 4300. It’s easy to switch. Between the receivers and controls are super simple . It has what you want and use most often. Power. Source. Volume. On your phone. Definitely replacing the Denon remote for me.

Thanks so much for putting this together. Since Denon hasn’t updated their remote app supporting older receivers like my AVR-X3000, I’ve lost network control of it. What’s worse, while that app allows you to manually specify an IP address, it doesn’t work across VLANs. Even before I put the receiver on a separate VLAN, their app worked rather poorly with constantly forgetting the receiver and not being able to find it again without uninstalling and reinstalling.

CrankIt works perfectly. It scanned my network and of course didn’t find the receiver because it’s on my IoT VLAN, but quickly prompted for an IP address which I provided. Immediately was able to power on and control my X3000.

Fantastic! Why Denon can’t seem to figure out how to make a decent and supported app is beyond me.

Exactly what I was looking for! Super clean simple app that works very well. I was disappointed at first that it stopped airplay, but I found the option to “disable audio” which after restarting CrankIt completely solved that problem. Nicely done!

Works using iPhone. On iPads, CrankIt finds the Denon stereo but doesn’t connect on iOS 16.3.1 (iPad Pro). It used to work on iPad Air iOS 12.5.7, but not anymore. Doesn’t work inputting IP address either.

ISSUE RESOLVED: I needed to be on the same WiFi as the Denon Receiver for the iPads to connect to it.

CrankIt does almost everything you really need it to. The only 2 things that would be the icing on the cake is a zone selection function and an audio output configuration function (stereo, full Dolby etc).

It’s responsive, reliable, and easy on the eyes. Can’t recommend enough for people who want to be free of their AVR remote.

Works when the official apps don’t. Even when they did, there was no way to manually enter an IP address and they took 15 seconds to scan the network. When you need to quickly change the volume it kind of defeats the purpose to wait this long. CrankIt opens and connects instantly. The presets work well. I’d love to see a widget for the iPad.

Nice work. Works well with my Marantz AV7702 MkII pre/pro. CrankIt preforms basic functions such as changing volume and source easily and quickly. Much faster than any of the Marantz’s iPhone remote apps I’ve tried. Opening those apps often take many seconds to connect to my processor. CrankIt works instantaneously and I can even use the volume button on my iPhone to change the volume of my system if I choose. Thanks!

You guys rock!! The native Denon app has always been awful and clunky. I already have my Denon dialed in with Audyssey and other tweaks for sound design so I’ve always been on the hunt for a simple intuitive interface remote for my basic needs... like volume control and input selection. I can’t thank you guys enough. Really excited for when you introduce Zone controls so that I can control my Zone 2 outdoor speakers and then I’ll never, ever have to use the native Denon app again. Big fan and I’m already telling other buddies who have Denon that a great app developer (you) has given us all a gift.
