About Concertino

The typical classical music online radio is pure chaos: the "sacrificial dance" from "The Rite of Spring", one prelude from "The Well-Tempered Clavier", then a slow movement from some Mozart piano concerto... stop this erratic movement swapping and embrace a classical radio that makes sense.

Say hi to a classical music player designed for multi-movement sets, that presents both a detailed view of each movement and a global progress bar of the work as a whole.

Albums and tracks are convenient for popular music but not suitable at all for classical music and its large, fragmented works.

Browse 200+ composers and tens of thousands of works, conveniently organized: A to Z, popular, essential, by genre, by period.

Search for recordings, not for albums or tracks: look for composers, works, performers or any combination of those.

Organize recordings by setting them favorites or by creating playlists, which can be played randomically as a radio station.

* An active Apple Music subscription is needed for full music playback.

Set favorite composers and works and browse directly to them.

Finally!

I’ve wanted something like this to exist for so long! I’d have been thrilled just to find a classical music app that integrates with Apple Music, but the fact that Concertino looks so nice and works so well is just the icing on the cake. And it looks like the developers are just getting started, so I can’t wait to see where it goes from here!

Great Niche Companion, Still a 1.0

I love the idea of Concertino. In the past, I’ve stuck almost exclusively to albums that are saved to my library when listening to my music. I’ve managed the metadata of my library so that it’s easier to find what I need... but it’s still a chore.

Concertino lets me expand my selection while still setting parameters for the type of music I want to hear. For example, while I love classical music in general, I avoid opera and anything vocal... it’s just my preference. This is the first streaming app I’ve seen that lets me set those kinds of parameters.

My main request is to make Concertino native for iPad. I listen to my music mostly at home, and use my iPad to airplay the music. Right now the tiny screen is awkward.

One of the best idea as long as I'm concerned

Since I discovered this app as a Web app, I've been loving the idea and it's been my go-to app for classical music. And it's now a native iOS app and it can play recordings in app itself. And the developer is very motivated and communicative. I have high respect on them.

I could give it five stars. But I know there is always margin of improvements. Hence, four for now. I'm pretty sure I will give it five after several more releases.

Honest alternative to Primephonic or Idagio

Superior not just to most classical radio stations with questionable curating at best but also to such scams as Primephonic or Idagio that presume to charge subscriptions for similarly clumsy selection of good music.

Good for starters like myself

I really like the presentation of the content.

Two modifications that make this five stars for me:

1) Remove the playback animations, or at least give an option to do so. Distracts from the actual content.

2) When viewing the playback "card" that pops up, the taps at the bottom tab bar appear to do nothing. Took me a minute to realize that the change happens underneath the card. Perhaps the playback card should automatically minimize when switching tabs.

Thanks!

Doesn’t work with separate iTunes account

I have a separate App Store/Apple Music account and this app is using my main iCloud account which doesn’t have an Apple Music subscription so I only get 30 seconds. I wish it would correctly detect my Apple Music account.

Love the concept of the app

And the design and usability is great as well. Unfortunately Concertino is buggy and crashes when selecting any most requested composers. The loading times till the music starts to play is too long as well. Room for improvement but great start!

No performer/artist search

While the performer is mentioned in this apps promo text, the central role of the performer/artist to any classical music fan is overlooked altogether as there is no way to search by performer. The first thing I tried was to find works from my favorite pianists. Concertino seems geared more toward discovery.

Makes Classical Music More Accessible

This is my first experience with this app. I’m using it to finally explore the world of classical music.

Brilliant

Fantastic app, well laid out. Love the different categories for each composer. One of my most used apps!

Great way to discover classical music

Concertino has some quirks but is greatoverall.

Doesn’t Work

Love the idea behind Concertino ; however, it just does not work. Seems to buffer forever before actually playing any music. I ended up deleting it after one day of frustration.

Not an iPad app

Looks very good except on iPad.

By

Buggy

Concertino idea is great! Unfortunately it keeps crashing and It says I don’t have Apple Music... I do. If it gets fixed, I’ll give it another shot.

By

Unreliable

Great idea but Concertino freezes every other tap. Search is not very robust and playing music requires at lest a ten second wait.

Crashes every time on iPad...and now my iPhone

Crashes every time I select anything in this app on the iPad.

And the iPhone also.

Download and watch for updates. Good idea but crashy.

Love the idea. Good for discovery… choose a composer, choose an opus or movement, discover the many or few recordings of it.

2 requests so far:
1. Fix the constant crashing
2. Allow my to filter to just my own library not just always all of iTunes/AppleMusic.

Looking forward to the fixes.
