Two issues

I have been using Flacbox for my music projects recently, and I love it and think it is much superior to other similar programs, but there are two pretty big issues that are getting me. One: I have a lot of songs that "segue", or bleed into each other and are directly connected, and Flacbox takes a few seconds to apparently "load" the next song. On Apple Music and other programs, seamless segues are allowed, but on this app, there is a pause, which screws up the listening experience. Two: If I am inactive on Flacbox for a day or so, my entire music library erases, and I have to reupload everything from my cloud drive. As soon as it is there, it reattaches the audio tags and assigns songs to their artists and albums, but it takes at least 15 minutes. Also, when I try to use Flacbox on my phone, under the same account, I have to upload my entire music library, again, and wait for all the albums to be assigned. I haven't figured out a way to stop this so far. Both issues are really annoying, but otherwise Flacbox works well. Please pay attention to this review, as I have reviewed Flacbox multiple times stating the same issues, and I can't find a way to email/contact the creator. Thanks

Great app

I have used EverMusic app for a day or two and had problems. this app is the better than any other music app out there. If have any problems with it then I'll write a review, supporting your improvements on Flacbox by give you supportive advice. Thanks great app, totally cool and quick when download is ready to play.

There is one thing that needs to be fixed. When i listen to an hour long play list it seems that the buffering slows down and if there is any way you can make loud faster like it did before especially for the one hour long play list. When playing, it stalls out and pauses the play list and would like to see improvement on that. Other than that, i think this is still the best music player app out there:)

Thank you

Everything you would want in a player

I use Flacbox to listen to podcasts and sermons that I want to have locally but not in my iTunes library. Great for managing files as it has robust cloud service interface. Since I study the material bookmark feature is awesome and works well with apple watch so you can bookmark while walking and listening. My only gripe is that I wish the developer would fix the lock screen controls to rewind and bookmark. As opposed to bookmark and fast forward. Would be five star if this change was made. It is a little annoying that is change or improvement has not been implemented especially because I have been asking for it for over half a year, and the developer takes pride in consistently updating Flacbox . Please implement this change.

Brilliant music player

Way better than VOX with Loop and similar services. Pay Dropbox instead and have your own choosing of apps. Flacbox has 24-bit audio support (disabled by default) and very neat library building with online tagging and album covers.
And you can reach your NAS in local network via Samba as well and add files from there to your library and for offline use.
No problem with displaying UTF-8 and UTF-16 chars. So no gibberish and funny looking characters in song names.
Navigating thru your library could have been better organized (say you go under an artist but cannot list albums, just songs) but still the best app among what I have tried (pretty much everything in Flacbox Store) so far.

Great app, but on issue

I love Flacbox, I purchased the pro version so I can download whole albums and not just songs. The issue is when I close all my apps at night before bed to shut my phone down and give it a break, I have to redownload my albums when I wake up. Once downloaded for offline play shouldn’t they be staying downloaded? It’s no big deal but I love my albums and love to listen to them around the house somewhere but I want to be able to know I’m gonna be able to listen to them if I close out of Flacbox and I’m out somewhere. If I’m out somewhere I don’t have WiFi and I don’t have unlimited data so I can’t just redownload my music every time I close Flacbox . If you can fix the issue so the albums stay downloaded even upon closing Flacbox , I will do another review and give 5 stars! 😃

Great option for a NAS.

I use this to stream over WebDAV to a Synology NAS and it is a better experience than the official Synology music app. Generally speaking, I find that it works very well. It also has Car Play support, which is a huge bonus; I don’t know of a better way to get good Car Play support while streaming music over your own systems.

I do have a hard time getting things to sync properly, sometimes, though, and I sometimes run into issues that are stubborn and hard to fix. Updates are a mixed bag, but generally do improve Flacbox . Unfortunately, the 3.9 update entirely wiped out my library and all metadata, which means I will probably be fidgeting with sync metadata a lot today. I can’t complain too much, but perfect Flacbox is not.

Songs Disappearing from Library

Hey, Flacbox works a treat, but in this latest update, I’m unable to keep songs downloaded in my music library. I download music from online and use Flacbox as the media player and as a way to keep them all organized. I place all my files in the import folder then select them to be added to the music library. In this most recent update though, any new songs disappear when I hit play on them. The song will still play, but I have to re-import it again to put it back in the music library every time I play it. All my other music is unaffected. It’s just new songs I try to import. Flacbox was pretty great before this most recent update, and now I can’t add any new music without quite the hassle. Would love to see this fixed soon!

Cool concept but has problems

The player is designed nicely, just my taste. I got it specifically to play local audio files on my iPhone, it does that well. A big problem is that it is always forgetting where my files are. I will open it and see my albums just empty until I re-load the files. It also seems to scramble up my playlists, very annoying and not fixable. Also can’t seem to back any playlist files up, this has wasted a lot of effort. It would be lest painful if I could sort by metadata like disk and track number or even file names, but this app can’t do that either. Also would be helpful if I could add songs to playlist by album or (smaller) playlist.
A great concept, I liked it enough to pay for it… I hope you improve Flacbox…

Just one fix then it’ll be perfect(please read)

Hello this app devs I’ve been using Flacbox for about 6months now and I’m really enjoying it. The bug issues if reported are fixed really soon and I very much appreciate that. But I’ll get to my main point, I and many others would be very delighted to see if the lyrics option is added since there don’t seem to be any as of now. I know it can be a hard task and easier said than done so I don’t mind waiting long for it to get done I’ve just thought that it would be a nice addition to the already amazing app. Thanks for reading

Great app but...

Everything works great The equalizer, playlists and connecting to a pc is well ingegrated and implemented into this. The only problem with Flacbox is the LACK of crossfade. This combined with the constant begging for a subscription is what turns me off from this, also why do I need an email adress to send feedback? Why is is not optional.

Great features and feel but compared to other options there just a huge lack of a feature I use heavily and the subscription model for an offline music player is downright stupid, but if you want a music player and can deal with the free plan your gonna have a good time with the awesome network sharing and audio.

Excellent MP3 player app

As a new user to iOS I was becoming very frustrated with Apple’s weak Music app and it’s need to be tethered to iTunes on your desktop if you hope to play your MP3s. I turned to Flacbox Store for another app capable of playing mp3 files and became even more frustrated with the slew of apps that prioritize spamming ads more than anything else. Just as I about gave up I found this app and it’s literally everything I ever wanted the native Music app to be. I can easily download an mp3 from a site and play it in this app or access my library from my Dropbox.

If I could give the this app devs a tip and a big smooch I would. 5/5 bless you this app.

Give search option show up even while scrolling down song list.

Suppose we have 100s of songs and scrolling down and not finding one we are looking so easy fix would be where this search tool even show up on top bar as it is now while scrolling down so no need to scroll back up top rather wherever one in middle of the list they can hit search tool and type. Give search tool show up everywhere, it would save lots of frustration. Excellent app. Don’t know if there is a way to fix the volume same for all the songs so that no need to control volumes from different loudness songs.

Mega AND ogg support!

If you have music you paid for in a mega account, and it happens to be in ogg format because most everything can play oggs while being open-source, and their not copy protected like mp3s, Flacbox can do it.
In fact I'm having a hard time finding many apps that support mega at all, and strangely, even security conscious open source mega does not play ogg files for some lame reason, even though you can stream other formats of music. So imagine my surprise when I'm just playing around in Flacbox , no music on this new phone to even play yet, and low and behold I see the mega icon under cloud support.

Vlc has cloud support, but no mega. Mega has an audio/video player, but no oggs. This can't be that rare of a situation can it? In fact I see you guys just started supporting oggs recently.

So thanks devs. Open-source (ogg) and security (mega) imo, go hand in hand, maybe I'm just crazy. This is the one perfect app for both. When I finally pay for some apps in a few weeks, this will absolutely be one of them.

Flacbox: My Nominee For Killer App 2020

Easily adding all my FLAC, pulling cover art, creating a playlist and downloading to my iPhone. Diverse connection options - fast SMB to my NAS music library plus all clouds. Been so long... many years. I’m finally just enjoying listening while making a mix. I can go back and forth without losing my file path and the music just keeps playing. Perfection. Thank you for making a music app that has a logical visual interface which manages to get out of the way of the music. “For Those About To Rock, I Salute You”

Great sound quality, but not easy to play non-streamed files

For whatever reason this player only likes to cooperate with Dropbox. I downloaded a ton of music files onto iCloud that I wanted to transfer as hard files to my iPhone. I saved them as such into the Downloads folder in this app, which tells you files are for offline playing, and I know it was a hard download since it took up my internal iPhone storage. But when I deleted my files from iCloud none of the songs would play. I had to upload the songs from the download folder to Dropbox to get them to play. Not a user friendly system.

It crashes beyond belief

Because it crashes so often on my iPhone 7 Plus, I decided to remove Flacbox , install it again and pay the fee. This way I get the latest with all bug fixes. I added all my play list from OneDrive opus file library. When I play the files, Flacbox crashes after 20 seconds. It does it over and over and over again. Once in a while, it plays for a few minutes. But then it crashes. I give 5 stars on features and design. Zero on software quality. THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING!!!

No Problems!

I saw previous posts, but this (80 this August) lady found no problems! Once I figured out how to download my music, it played flawlessly in car, stopping for calls and restarting afterwards. No stalling while playing a song ever. Thank you for a player that won’t twist my arm for a monthly payment 😊❤️! And an equalizer! Nice work techie!!!

Ok, just one small problem, playing speed.
All by itself it starts playing the song faster.
Does this in the middle of the song so I have to open Flacbox to settings, speed and tap normal speed.

Very Very nice app, I’m impressed!

I had major issues with the way Apple iPhone handles the metadata in music imported from a PC. I decided to use Flacbox and give it a try. I used the WiFi Drive to transfer my music from my PC by just dragging over the entire folder. Took some time for my 20+ gigs of music to move over, but in the end, Flacbox read the metadata correctly and even supplied album art. Sweet. I went ahead and bought the Pro version because this is Flacbox I was looking for to do the job right!

Cloud playing completely broken

I tried to use this on a Dropbox folder. This is the only reason I bought Flacbox - to use its cloud player. It’s useless.

My library is only two levels deep, organized by artist/album/tracks. All files are properly tagged with album and artist tagging. File types are all supported: flac, alac, aac, mp3, Opus.

I’m using an iPhone 12 Pro. The metadata syncing never finishes. Background sync does not work at all. Even though it claims to have read the folders, it never adds most of the files. What it does read it reads sporadically. Albums are missing tracks. Most albums are ignored entirely. I’ve tried deleting and restarting sync. Tried removing and reading the Dropbox integration. Nothing works.

So... about locally saved music

I found Flacbox many years ago and have been using it ever since. I love it. I suggest it to others. I am not a fan of streaming, and over the years it was the best app I had found for playing music saved to your device without streaming.

Up until it now.

Before the update, I could would open Flacbox and just play songs. I could select music by genre, artist, or my entire collection of songs by tapping a tab at the top of my screen corresponding to how I wanted to listen to my stuff.

The new update seems to shove “accounts” down your throat, and there seems to be no way to add music saved on my device to the music library.

Whereas now I have to drill down three menus deep in the UI to get to locally saved music because there now seems to be no way to add it to the one tap music library.

Maybe this was an oversight, but it seems kind of crazy.

I love Flacbox , don’t ever go away, but can these issues be remedied?

Thanks. 😬

(Update) Fixed! No airplaying flag files to Apple TV

At last airplay issue is fixed!
Now I can give you 5 stars. Thanks for solving the issue.

I have 800 GB music in Google drive in flac format. I airplay music from my iPhone to my home theater through Apple TV. I've been enjoying Flacbox like this for a week and I liked its sound quality with equalizer. But after this update, airplay doesn't work anymore.
It shows the airplay icon and when I choose Apple TV, it keeps trying to load the music forever (circular arrow keeps turning). When I turn off airplay, I can hear the music from my iPhone.
Now I'm back to my other favorite app, "Cloudbeats", which is much more stable and UI is better. this app is better in sound quality with equalizer and the automatic artwork download is great. But if it cannot airplay, it's useless to me.

Great app but still can't stream flacs from nas

I've had Flacbox ever since I started using iPhone, because it plays flacs and I can also stream from my NAS. The big problem is that although it plays flacs that are stored on the phone, just fine, I can't get it to stream FLAC files from my NAS. As more of my files are now this type, that's becoming a bit problematic. When I contacted the developer over a year ago, I was told it was going to get fixes in an update. Contacted again a few months ago, never heard back. If I could just stream my Flacs, I'd give this 5 stars, as everything else about it is great.

Really a great app.

I have been looking for a good, no nonsense mp3 player/app for my large collection of mp3 music and flacs, and now, at last, I have found it. Flacbox connects seamlessly to Dropbox and many other sources, allows you to selectively download your music for offline listening. Includes standard features such as playlists, etc. and works great and so far, with no technical issues at all. There is also a streaming device which I have not tried yet. Great app!

New user

I couldn’t seem to find a free app that also played FLAC file formats for iPhone or iOS, luckily I found this app! Flacbox is awesome it plays nearly every music file format I’ve seen that is commonly used including lossless which was my main concern. You can load the music right onto Flacbox through iTunes and it even found several of the music files associated album art and it shows up when playing the file, Great App!!!

PLEASE PLEASE add option to sort albums by artist!!! Most people now have hundreds of albums in their library and need them grouped by artist …not randomly by title.
