Can’t start a group. Limit to 50! Can’t

Otherwise HalloApp doesn’t work. This is misleading from a privacy perspective.

Can’t change phone number. You lose everything if you get a new number. Can’t delete comments after an hour. Despite access to my contacts it won’t allow me to invite anyone. Pure forced to allow ALL contacts access to your data unless you MANUALLY limit access. This is app is DoA. Deleted my account & uninstalling HalloApp . You should skip this.

The first step is to upload all your contacts.

The second step is assuming all your contacts are friends.

Step one is a gross invasion of privacy, on the level of what Facebook does. Nobody in my contact book is giving permission to HalloApp to mine their info.

Step two is dangerous. I have several contacts that stay in my phone so I know not to answer their calls. I have other contacts that are no longer friends. I have work contacts that shouldn’t be able to see all my posts.

Until HalloApp removes the requirement to upload all contacts and go through them one by one to block them, it’s just as gross as the competition.

if you created an account you can’t delete it because HalloApp has a big bug in deleting account. HalloApp gather your contacts information in their servers that I think this isn’t right and I’m entirely opposed with this part of HalloApp. let me make it clear to you
there is no privacy :)

...the list of messenger apps you never use. I have 14 messenger apps on my phone at the time of writing this review. this app provides nothing substantial that I can’t get from other apps.

Doesn’t provide an iPad formatted version. Not acceptable for what they are trying to be. Hard pass.

It's great to see a company take another swing at private and healthy social media, and I'd love to use this app as a drop-in replacement for Instagram and Facebook.

Unfortunately, it's not quite there yet. For one, posts are automatically deleted after 30 days. I'm not sure if this was a deliberate design decision or a side effect of using the Signal protocol. But one of the things I'll often do on a platform like this is scroll back and view old memories and photos. Without the option to preserve posts, I don't see myself using it.

Still, it's a promising start and I'm keeping my eyes on this project. The instant posts can be preserved I'll be dumping Instagram and Facebook.

Additionally, I'd love to see capabilities for groups for event management and the like. Bring on the paid features!

The problem is in relying on your entire phone directory up front. If it were possible to start with a subset and build out, this would be a great start. As it is, once you have at least one contact, you can pick “just these people” but that’s not available until you’re already up and running. Would like to see this change if I’m going to convince people to try it out, because otherwise this is simple, granular, and seems to be an ideal replacement for mass social media. I look forward to revisions.

Not giving my phone number to an unknown new app… support login via Apple and I will go past the first screen

In total, it’s fine but if it has voice chat and voice call and video call it was so better.
The other opinion is the ability of editing the messages and i think it would be better to have this ability.

This is one of the best minimalist social + friends & family feel App.

I love HalloApp so far, whenever I use it I I get discord vibes but with a new vibe! So far I have a few family members and I haven’t gotten any glitches so far! Overall 5 stars can’t wait to see what they add next.
