Unorganized and the owners are rude

I’ve had the this app app for almost 2 months and worked 4 events. Its difficult to be accepted to multiple shifts. Additionally, even more difficult to get a bartender shift. In my interview I stated I have more experience bartending but I was only able to get server shifts. Not to mention the events are UNORGANIZED, most events the floor captains are unsure or late. You’re doing more labor than what is initially listed on the job description. To illustrate, you come dressed in a white button up shirt prepared to serve but they have you unloaded the truck and moving tables. I finally get a bartender shift, I arrive at the event and there’s an abundance of bartenders confused on where they’ll be stationed. Of course the floor captain is late then when they arrive it’s turmoil because there’s too many bartenders and they don’t want to serve. I end up serving because Ryan agreed to let me leave the shift early and receive bonus pay. Come to find out the bonus pay was just a measly $30!!! and wasn’t paid for a full shift. I spoke to Ryan about it he had a complete attitude with a passive aggressive tone. “What else do you want me to do?! Completely unprofessional, I guess since he’s the co-owner he thinks it’s acceptable to talk to people any kind of way. Hence owners should never manage employees. He wouldn’t even give me the owners information, which his name is David. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WORKING FOR THESE KIND OF PEOPLE.

Location data mining for profit is what this app TENDS TO

Here in the San Antonio, Austin region, it’s the same as the recent reviews state across the board. Rather than postulate upon their disorganization, lack of jobs compared to other apps, like Qwick and Instawork’s, lengthy selection process for the few jobs they do have I’d rather bring awareness to what this joke of an employment app IA REALLY SELLING… All our location data and whatever else these data brokers make money on off of people like you and me. Why do they insist on having g access to your location always?? Why do you have to have notifications turned on when they never send any push , only text from Tessa the Robot?

Maybe you don’t care but unfortunately, people using gig workers trying to make ends meet to make a fortune off of just “DOESNT ALIGN WITH MY VALUES.” Just admit you’re a seedy tracking, data stealing, greedy enterprise like Meta and stop making people think they’re actually going to get some work only to never be selected like the reviews state. The irony of that is the majority of the people that do get selected are lazy and drunk at every candlelight gig led by Jean and the few that are worth a dang wind up being ostracized lol. They know who they are.

this app to the business that pays you - not the one selling your private data to broker firms for huge profits. Word! -Jennifer

Complete waste of time, download Angi services instead

Tend is a complete waste of your time and energy. I downloaded it and made a profile after hearing from a friend about it. I was hoping to make some extra Christmas money. I’ve applied for multiple jobs through Tend and have never been selected. At first I thought maybe people were chosen maybe first come first serve, but after being denied on several more attempts I reached out to Tend for clarification. I was sent a response with a link to the selection process. Unbeknownst to Tend , I had already read this in full prior to contacting them. For every job I have applied I am more than qualified, have applied within minutes of the job being posted and have only applied to jobs close to where I live. After informing the agent of this, I was told that my name would be past on to the people who “select”. Prior to this, I was thinking Tend matched people based on skills or some algorithm. However now I hear that an actual human decodes. I can only speculate, but I think I am being discriminated against as my full legal name is very unique and ethnic sounding for lack of a better term. Please do not waste your time or memory on your device.

I am seriously debating contacting an attorney to see if there is a case for discrimination.

An unexpected blessing

I am a professional in the food manufacturing business. One of my employees mentioned Tend. I decided to give it a try, to see if it was something I could refer members from my team as a way to earn extra money.
My goal was to try a few shifts over a month and if the experience went well, recommend it to my team members and help them with the sign-up process.
It is now five months later, and I have completed 54 shifts myself, and have never had issues with being paid on time. I have also helped a handful of team members sign up for Tend as well. I’ve worked at the Rose Bowl, Sofi stadium, dodger Stadium, and have had the opportunity to meet good people.
I appreciate the availability of Tend, and the leads I have come in contact with.
My full-time job can be hectic and stressful… Working at these events has actually given me the ability to take some of that stress away, working with good people performing easy tasks and providing extra money.

Great in theory, NOT in execution.

I’ve been working in hospitality for a long time, and I thought Tend would be a great way to find side gigs during my free time for a little extra money. HOWEVER, the only way I can describe Tend is disorganized, confusing, and unnecessarily complicated. it seems great at first when you sign up easily and get accepted for a position easily, but after that you are virtually on your own. MAYBE you’ll get a text from someone from this app, but that’s it. No instructions upon arrival, and no detailed list of expectations.
Lastly, I was never informed we could not bring personal items (I had a small bag with my phone, my keys, my wallet, a lip balm, and a portable charger for my phone) to keep on or near our person. Their solution for neglecting to mention this fact was to “allow” us to leave our stuff WITH THEM. They expected us to leave valuables with people who are essentially strangers.

All in all, Tend needs a whole lots of hands on work to be successful. Right now, it just feels like a whole big mess and there are many other methods of acquiring gig positions that are more successful and easy in my opinion.

It OK

I’ve been using this app maybe a year, or at least having the apple on my phone approximately a year. Something that I noticed that they do is select you for a specific time to work that shift, and then they will go and change it. It’s happened to me two times since I’ve been working for them, and that is not OK especially if you schedule around another job. Since I had to cancel that job because they change the time without notice, I got an infraction ,which is called a call out, definitely not fair especially since they change the time without notice. Now there is a specific person that you can reach out to and will reach out to you to make sure you are going to attend the shift especially if you don’t confirm it, but I’ve noticed, that person will only answer you back when it’s beneficial for them. also, make sure you keep track of your hours. There has definitely been some discrepancies, and some people who were upset because of their pay, or lack of should I say they’re supposed to pay you within three days. Good luck with that.

Very Good ➕ Very Bad 👎🏻

I have been involved with, and been employed by several different job apps. For the last five months. When I first started with this app, it was like any other job app meaning that I was getting quite a few jobs. The added bonus was I was getting paid in three or four days. That was as far as it went as being great. After about three or four months I was no longer getting these jobs and I would contact this app and they would say that there’s a lot of demand. I would get the turn down 30 out of 30 times. Including jobs that required 45 helpers. Meanwhile talking to other this app employees at the jobs I’m approved for They seem to have the same situation while others are highly favored - and it’s the source of the good reviews you will see. Those that are highly favored are getting the jobs. Meanwhile I’m highly favored at all the other job apps I work for. this app tends to be highly discriminatory and picks their top favorites and the fact I’m older I believe plays a factor. But they’ll never admit to that. Stay away from this app.

Not good!

I am on other gig apps like Qwick and Instawork but this one is the most frustrating one. I would love to come over here and write a very good review but I am taking my time instead to write a bad one.
It’s a completely waste of time as most of the jobs are 80+ miles away from where I am located, no I am not far away in a small town I am close to downtown and everything else in a busy area. Once in a while you will see jobs around your neighborhood. When I see the ones I have experience with I apply, I wouldn’t try to go to a job where I cannot perform the role in this job. After at least 36hrs they just put a tag in your application in the “not selected”, it’s ok to be “not selected” to some jobs but for all of them? I have never ever being able to make one single job for them so they can’t even say I am a bad worker.
I contacted support to ask if there is something wrong with my account they said everything is in good stands. They also say “don’t get discouraged…” haha what the point of keep on trying? ITS NOT WORTH IT!!!

Payment issues

I love the freedom this app allows me to work when and where I want! I’ve completed approximately 20 shifts so far! All the shifts I worked I had no problems getting my hourly payment! However, it is a long drawn out process to get ur tips! Every shift I worked that included tips, I’ve had issues with! I’ve had to make a payment dispute every time! When u sign up it tells u 2-3 weeks to receive them, when in actuality it’s over a month and u have to be diligent in ur disputes! They make u feel as if u have to beg for ur tips in order to get them! I tested this theory once when I worked an event in which I made less than $25 in tips! So I waited and waited and never received them! There is hardly any way to communicate with Tend and when u do they like to send these generic response! It’s very frustrating! If I didn’t have this issue I would give Tend 5 stars, however playing with people money will make a great experience a nightmare!

Tend is one of the good ones

As someone who has worked in the service Industry for 3 years now, I would say if you have a flexible schedule and like to stay busy(and make money) this app is just the job for you! Since working with this app I have worked a wide range of events from celebrity parties to winter wonderlands. Not only are there always multiple job opportunities available in Tend to choose from, but if you’re a reliable hard worker, this app will take note and send you more(and better) gigs! They’re constantly growing and forming new partnerships which opens up more opportunities for steady work and a steady weekly paycheck! 😉

10/10 would recommend 👍🏽

Side note: Of all staffing companies I’ve worked with, this app has the best and friendliest coordinators! They’re not just a number/app in your phone.

Disorganized/unprofessional

So I want to start off by saying that I do enjoy the ease of this app and the ability to make money so quickly at the tap of my screen.
Unfortunately I have come to see the dark side of Tend. Each shift is very disorganized when you show up. They don’t follow the hours that you input in Tend , they follow what the manager or lead provides them from the job. If you have an issue with your hours or how much you got paid, don’t expect this app to respond in a timely and professional manner. I had an issue where my start time and lunch length were inputted incorrectly, and it’s taken me more than a month to get any type of solution, which I have had none. this app will ignore your emails and your texts. Their phone number on the website doesn’t work. This has been quite a disappointing experience. For an app that can be really helpful, they SERIOUSLY need an HR department and help out the people they employ. 1 star sorry not sorry

SCAM BUSINESS

This company is practically criminal and apparently scamming their workers for their pay. I can sense a major lawsuit coming up due to their malpractice, bad business ethic, and negligence. I worked hard during a shift and even managed to get the supervisor offering me future work at the location I was dispatched to. Over two weeks have gone by and I still haven’t received my pay for my hours worked. So I sent out an email and eventually after about over a week received a reply stating…. “You were faulted for that shift.” And I’m thinking hmmm… So all it takes is some dummy to make a mistake and they can deny you your pay after wasting your time. What kind of company has an employee work and then say “Well you were faulted for that shift,” turn around and deny you your right payment. They are doing this to other employees as well and someone already sent a complaint to the U.S. Department of Labor.

Try Qwick or Instawork instead

I was interested in working at this app because someone referred me to Tend while working on another app. I went through the application process and set up my time for the interview but the first time no one showed up so I rescheduled. This happen three more times. When I left a message for support instead of getting back to me they simply rejected my application. Even though their staff would not show up to my interview four times. This company doesn’t seem to respect others time and after readingthe reviews, I realize it’s a waste of time to try to work here. I have over four years of experience as a banquet server and banquet captain. I have worked over a 150 shifts on both Qwick and instawork while maintaining a 5.0 rating. If you are looking for extra income try Qwick or Instawork at least they respond and they jobs are quick, easy, and organized.

Terrible management

Was booked to work two shifts this week at a stadium that I’ve worked at 100’s before working for this app. They didn’t update where to park for non-game events. Drove around to every lot, and security told me my only choice was to pay for parking and try to find a this app supervisor to see what’s going on. Called and texted the number for Tess, which is the only number that they give employees, and found out it’s a text only number. She responded 6 hours later. After I had to cancel my shift. She tried to tell me that there was a text sent with the appropriate parking, but i didn’t receive one. Now I’m not being selected for shifts that I applied for when I could actually manage a concession, and have in the past. THEY MUST GET BETTER EMPLOYEE HELP. It is not fair the I wasted gas and time trying to get to a job and then didn’t get responded to until 6 hours later. Shame.

A Good Supplement to Ones Income

Been using this app for a while and has been a good help in supplementing my income living in n the most expensive city in the West Coast San Francisco. However, anytime breakroom
Attendant and barista shows up then you you select, it auto goes to Error “job no longer available “ and even if you even gets to finally get to apply after trying several times you will get not selected then after later on get it the offer again when the those selected callouts the same jobs you were not selected or were not able to apply due to the error as if you were being singled out in the first placed . Tried multiple times sending screenshots to Tessa but no success on resolution support.

Garbage App

I downloaded Tend so that I could pick up some shifts and cash on the side. I applied to positions that I’m more than qualified for and was approved for said positions, but when applying to an actual gig, it always says I wasn’t selected. I read the policies on the application process and it says that it bases applications based off how far you live from the work location, your experience, and if you have any previous call offs. With that being said I’ve applied to locations that are no more than 5 miles away, that I’m more than enough qualified to do, and my account is too new for me to have any call offs or such.

Tend is garbage and wouldn’t recommend it, I’d say use Instawork instead seeing how jobs are easily more obtainable and their support team is much more reliable and easily accessible unlike this app

Worst company rude and waste of time

I am 35 i had been working for 20 years hooters, longhorn , crackerbarrel , plenty of events including nascar ! I took some time away from hospitality and focused more on career, i found the company on indeed applied setup for virtual interview.(mind you im desperate for a job). The person who interview me was very rude didnt answer any of my questions just said someone else would contact me . She looked at me and asked me did i want to reschedule there was nothing wrong with my appearance or the way I articulated .I never heard anything and it was for a busser position! Than they sent me a text to apply for a job three hours late. They completely wasted my time theyre propably racist and very unprofessional any way i can right a horrid review on this company i will the worst experience i. My 20 years of employment highly embarrassing

Don’t even bother

Tend is bogus. Don’t waste your time, go to Instawork.

They said that it takes 2-3 business days for you to be paid and when the third day had rolled around I still hadn’t been paid. Tend erased any evidence that i had worked a shift. I filed a dispute and they sent a message saying that they’re assigning a team to my case. I hadn’t heard anything more so I reached back out twelve hours later asking what was the status and they said disputes can take 4-8 days. It’s coming up on a week without my pay and 4-8 days (they didn’t specify if it’s business days) means that I won’t get paid for about two weeks after I worked. I don’t even want to book a shift with them anymore because I don’t have the kind of time to put in work for free. I have bills to pay and I was relying on Tend.

Good app

I’ve booked jobs at the baseball and football stadiums lots of candlelight events etc. app is very easy to use. The only downside is when you book a job there is no one to contact till you arrive to your job, meaning that if you are locked out or your name is not on a list to work there’s no one to call you simply have to go back home. Also if you have any issues with Tend it’s extremely hard to contact any customer service. I still use Tend it’s worked out well for me

100+ Jobs

Have worked over a 100 jobs with this app over past six months from OC to LA.
Enjoyed the flexibility and ability to choose from various major sporting venues to working with top catering companies at some of the coolest events happening in So Cal. A good feature is being able to comment on jobs I like and if I standout with client, Tend begins to match me up again more frequently and regularly.
Another benefit is after completing about 10 jobs you start to get to know a more people to where every job I work now, I know at least a couple that I enjoy working with.
