Good game, responsive developers, just a few bugs

I’ve been playing this game for over a solid year now, I’m at end game status, I will say if you feel relaxed by tower defense type games this should satisfy your need, it also has a slight rpg upgrade type system, although decent I wish there was more. The game is still being actively updated which is nice, and when I’ve had issues the developers are easy to reach over discord. It’s a good game, I just wish updates were more frequent and more wholesome, and the only reason I’m giving a 4 out of 5 is that almost every update there is some negative outcome to some other aspect of the game after the update that ends up needing to be fixed. Overall though it’s a small fan base game but good to keep you busy also very low demand like most tower defense games you set up your tower and hit go that’s about the bulk of it. It does have ads, which aren’t to bothersome if you don’t mind watching 15 second ads to make the most of the game, or pay for the pro status, which I find to be worth it if you can afford it. I’m still heavily active as even after a year there is still enough to do to keep busy, there was a small instance where the game had massive amount of “hackers” but that seems to have been calmed. There’s a very good community lead discord that’s an unofficial- official discord that really helps make this game even better.

Some what fun!

A classical tower defense game with all the elements available for hours of fun gameplay. I have two cons that I need to get off my chest. Numero uno. After clearing wave 100 the game becomes repetitive; from then on it becomes more efficient to play auto than manually. Numero dos. For an f2p player it’s punishing to progress as you would have to watch tons of ads to collect enough gold to do the upgrades to your tower, units, modules etc. The game hardly has any gatcha elements in terms of rng involved in summoning units as there isn’t any period. You get units either straight away pay a one time price, or using gems from quest/pvp store. This is good and bad. Good in the sense it doesn’t harbor addictions; Bad in the sense that there’s a limited variety of units and once all 3 archers and the tower skin are collected gems are usually rotting away in your inventory. Overall it’s a solid game. It’s somewhat fun, in the beginning primarily; afterwards…. Meh! Chat both in clan and global are pretty dull, events are on the dead end of the spectrum. I personally quit the game (after hitting wave 600+ and getting my units to level 199) out of sheer boredom. But, hey! You can give it a go, just beware that unless you are subbing monthly fasten your seatbelts for an ad fest, cuz that’s the fastest and the most efficient way to progress . That’s it for my 2 cents! Ciao :/

Bummed

Been enjoying the game quite a bit so far but I’m f2p and was really disappointed in the nifty little way you let me upgrade my tower once with gold and then quickly switched to a pay by chrystals upgrade in the same exact spot immediately after I clicked once. I knew I needed to upgrade my tower a couple times because I hadn’t in several waves so I went to click pay by coins a couple times quickly and was pretty disappointed in that handy little switcharoo. It feels like you intentionally cheated me out of my hard earned crystals and I’m not really excited to play the game anymore like I was. That was a cheap shot. Game was fun, but things like that really aren’t.

Edit: I do really appreciate the game creators reaching out to me about my problem with the upgrade mechanics. Regardless of whether or not your team fixes the issue, it meant something to hear from you. I don’t know that I’ll be playing the game anymore, but you at least deserve an updated review as it appears you care enough about your fan base to reach out to someone who had a poor experience. Thank you for that. I wish you the best.

A Diamond in the Rough

In a sea of ad-filled games, this (rather hidden) game shines through. A great game has tons and tons of gameplay to play through, with lots of things you can do to customize certain aspects of the game to your personality and liking. A great game has a lot of not just good, but GREAT mechanics that are balanced for any playstyle (which is very rare for mobile games). A great game will include not forced ads (advertisements that come to you in intervals), but optional ads that will give you extra rewards but by no means necessary. A great game isn’t pay to win and even a player who doesn’t pay a single CENT can rise up to be one of the best. A great game has gameplay that is interesting and not extremely repetitive. These things are what separates a GOOD game from a G R E A T game. Well, I’m happy to tell you, you’ve stumbled upon a game that has all of those things. A true diamond in the rough.

Short & Sweet

I love the game and think it is an amazing spin on the “Tower Defense” Genre. Easy to play if you’ve just got a minute or two to spare. I’ve only got 1 real complaint and a suggestion. When upgrading units it switches the “Use Gold” to upgrade button with the “Spend Crystals” to upgrade button, which is a really cheap way to make the user waste crystals (a.k.a. the money maker). This applies if you’re someone upgrading a unit 5 or 10 levels in one go. By far a disgusting (and highly profitable for you I’m sure) tactic. You said the last release put in a safeguard against “Accidentally” spending crystals? Definitely didn’t see any of that 10 minutes ago. My suggestion is add the ability to sort the clan members differently. When doing the Triumph Challenge and I’m trying to drop some members with 0 keys, I have no clue how it’s sorted and have to bounce between different screens. All said, I still love the game and spent $10 for the Pro this month.... if there’s a few changes, I’ll give it a few more.

AMAZING

Wow! This game really impressed me. You really feel like you are progressing and there are so many cool units, items, upgrades, and game modes! Even when you lose a battle you still get a reward, so you always feel that bit of progress and you get a little stronger every time. I will say that you sort of have to pay the 9.99 a month or you will be watching a TON of videos- but I was happy to pay that much for a game this slick and with so many hours of gameplay.

One disappointment is that at a certain point you realize that you MUST use an archer build (it appears that everyone agrees on this if you visit the online communities that play this game). My mage team was super fun but at level 910 I met a dragon that simply has too much hp to beat without the critical damage that archers specialize in. I invested way too much time in my mage build to start over so I cancelled my subscription and just deleted Towerlands . Don’t get me wrong, its an AMAZING game, and I got my money’s worth for sure!

Devs don’t listen

I’ve played this game since release, was in the top clan in the game, now lead one of the top clans that I started. I am one of the few that are the highest level waves (3000)...if you want to do well in this game and help out your clan, DO NOT spend money and stay a low level. It’s the only way that you can participate and win clan events and the new clan battles. I asked for months for them not to impossibly scale clan events to where high levels auto lose and devs said they were fixing it. That was two months ago. Now not only did it not get fixed but the newly released clan battles scale to where those of us at the highest levels lose to even level one nodes because they scale to impossible odds against us. So, if you do play this game, stay at low level, no need to spend money.

Also, they banned an American clan for cheating within a couple days and a month ago we called out another clan for cheating even more obviously and devs said they were handling it. They did not and that clan is basically number one in the world. And it’s a Russian clan and this is a Russian developer. Probably their clan. So, I’d just stay away from this company in general...

A few ideas for improvements.

I would give this game five stars in all honesty, however there are a few things I would like to see change. The first being the music, I wish I could play my music in the background. Second the targeting, this is one thing that does frustrate me about the game. I think that a part of the upgrade interface should include what a unit should focus on. For example the archers they can attack all units, but you could make it so they prioritize flying over ground units. Third is just another hero idea. This one would send out little mechanized attackers. Like in Skyrim the dwarvine ruins have those robots that are enemies. A hero that could send out that kind of fighter would be neat. The last thing I would like to see is a collect all button for the castles and strongholds that gather loot. It is kind of tedious to press each one individually. This game is really good and I am interested to see where it goes. I hope for a reply and I can always think of more ideas for the developers.

Good game but could use tweaks here and there

This is a fairly unique game and I find it really fun to play. However certain things are frustrating. For example, the upgrade times for the units are tolerable but once you reach level 200 with most units, they no longer receive abilities or significant upgrades, so you’re effectively waiting 24hrs or longer for no reason other than to be able to continue upgrading them. Another issue is that the portal of bandits only allows archer units, which is a problem since there isn't a wide enough selection to be able to fill all the slots in the tower. This could be fixed by simply allowing thrower units to be used in on that portal (thrower units feel a little neglected in my opinion, compared to archers and especially mages. Plus it makes sense, given that arrows and thrown projectiles are similar in nature). I do have great hopes for this game and look forward to seeing what else will be added.

Great game overall with room to improve

Started playing yesterday and am thoroughly enjoying it. Fun to play or wait for resources, though I’ve been plowing through it no problem. Lots of units to use and upgrades to be unlocked. Plenty of opportunity to buy upgrades and premiums but you aren’t forced to or penalized for it. F2P gives you options to watch ads for more resources (which I don’t mind and do frequently). Only complaint would be that it’s crashed on me about 4 times in about as many hours, but it reloads and plays fine after that. Great game overall and the crashes are the only thing preventing me from making it 5 stars. Everything else looks and plays great for a free download. Would highly recommend to everyone, whether you want to spend money or not.

Edit: Talked to devs and was very impressed. Updated score to 5 stars

Great game, Great Graphics, but new update not cool.

I really enjoy the game, and the way it’s drawn is half the fun. Great colors and creatures. Gameplay is fun, and they do not nickel and dime you. There are options you can buy, but only extras if you want them, not needed for the game play.
The only problem I have is they changed the way you can upgrade your military units. It had been, you pay gold you won in battles to increase the training ground to increase the unit levels. Now you still pay the gold for the increase in training level, but you also have to reach a certain wave level in battle before you can raise training ground levels. It’s too high of wave levels. Let us decide how we build our tower defenses, and when we want to raise levels without creating another obstacle to overcome.
Please remove the wave restrictions, let us raise whatever levels we would like if we win the gold to do so.
Thank you.

Poor design and bad user experience

First of all the game isn’t too bad. Might get old soon but it is very enjoyable until then. There are quite a few bugs and glitches in this game but so does any game, so no problem there. The biggest problem that I have is the gem upgrade design flaw (or probably intentional)that tricks you into using gems instead of gold to upgrade. I have lost a lot of gems this way and their support team doesn’t care about their player base to either fix it the right way or compensate users unlike most successful games do. This is so frustrating.

They said they fixed it and there are still scenarios where it happens. With this being the biggest problem they still cannot fix it and that makes me feel like they have a very poor design and QA team, which only means that this game is not going to last long and I wouldn’t spend any money on it anymore.

If you are a f2p player, feel free to play the game for fun. It is going to get repetitive, boring and not much to do after a bit anyways. So have fun until then.

Scams you out of your crystals

Game rarely gives you crystals, but you can save them up. However when upgrading your tower or units it will randomly move the upgrade with gold button and put the buy with crystals button in its place causing you to accidentally spend 97 crystals on 3 tower levels which you takes like 2 weeks of playing to get when you can get 3 levels worth of gold in 20 minutes. I have a hard time believing this isn’t an intentional design. I didn’t even notice the first time it happened because there is no confirmation or notification that you’re spending crystals. I only notices because it asked me to buy more crystals because I was out even though I saved up over 100 of them after I lost probably 70 or more the last time this happened. I went back to check, and yes I am down to 8 crystals.

Graphics are good and the game is pretty fun, however repetitive. Higher level unit upgrades take 12 hours to upgrade which seems excessive.

Glitchy, deceptive design, pay-to-win

I really want to like this game. I played it for six months before giving up on it. First off, it’s really glitchy. It frequently gives connection errors that require quitting out of Towerlands and reloading. A number of my clan mates hit a bug where their account is randomly set to a super high wave level, making it impossible to complete anything. One has his account reset by support, but lost all of his artifacts in the process. The game is also designed to trick you into spending gems. It will change the upgrade button from using gold to using gems. If you’re not paying super close attention, it’s really easy to accidentally spend a sizable number of scarce gems on a paltry couple of levels. Many of the really good units, such as the light archer, can only be purchased for $10 apiece. Once you realize that the game is so repetitive that you put everything on auto play, like me you’ll wonder why you’re still playing and quit.

Make Mobile Games Great Again!!

This game brings back the glory days of mobile gaming. It’s a great game, with a good amount of content, and with optional ads for bonuses. That alone now is a huge plus. Keep up the good work guys, don’t become like other developers, stay true to the reason why you develop games in the first place. Make players love your game, not dread it.
Thanks!

One suggestion I would recommend but isn’t necessary would be adding a “Recommended Upgrade” button that basically tells you what unit/module/tower would benefit you the most to upgrade next. There’s times where I can’t decide which unit to upgrade that will benefit me the most, or simply just help me beat the wave I’m stuck on. How would this work? Idk I’m just some guy writing a review, but Programmers are smart haha, I’m sure y’all could figure it out if you wanted.

Only one issue

The only bad thing about this game is how frequently it crashes. It crashes about 95% of the time when I try to open the map, which is a real bummer because the map is where the most interesting stuff happens. Aside from this the game is amazing if you like tower defense and don’t mind a few ads. I wish less units were totally locked behind a paywall but I understand devs need to get paid and the game is free to play. Reading other reviews I don’t think anyone else has this issue so don’t hesitate to give this game a go. It might just be an Ipad thing. Update: I did a little experimenting and it’s only on Ipad when you’re connected to the internet, the map works just fine offline and on phone it works perfectly.

In game experience

The experience in game is too high for me and I think I speak for most players to continue playing up to high levels, instead I’ve been just passive farming and losing everyday bc of the lack of even number of archers which makes the first In map archer challenge the hardest and stops me from continuing to level up and get experience and keep playing, it’s almost like a lock on the game since the chest has the only experience that’s matters, I’d change the games experience back to the original and reward players with two level up points when they can open the chest, this will allow players to continue to want to play levels and at the same time have the eager ness to continue to upgrade to get the extra points on the side for the difficulty of the levels of the unit challenge missions

Great mix of TD & PRPG!

As the title suggests, this game is honestly a great time killer! Mixing your classic medieval Tower Defense with a simple {but pleasing} PRPG. The only gripe I have about the game so far (Lvl 32) is just how much the Developers push for micro-transaction purchases.

I understand you have to make money to continue Developing the game, but having to click out of multiple forced “Special Deal” type pop-ups within 10-15 minutes is just absurd. That’s every play session as well not just a rare occurrence. All in all great job so far! I have really been enjoying my experience and it seems like many others have been as well.

*For those who don’t know, a “PRPG” is a “Pocket RPG” meaning a basic styled RPG on a Mobile Device*

Fun time waster with one major drawback.

This is one of the few idle games I’ve enjoyed. However there is one major annoyance. The gem currency is extremely limited, so it might take weeks to save enough to buy special towers or units with it. That wouldn’t be a problem were it not for the TERRIBLE UI design. You can be clicking the gold upgrade button for your tower and then all of a sudden in the SAME exact place as the gold button was, it’ll change out and place the gem upgrade button in the same place. This is either a terrible design mistake, or if intentional, it’s an extremely shady and deceptive way to get people to accidentally waste their gems so they’re more likely to pay real money for more.

Just don’t click the same upgrade button quickly, or this could happen to you.

A game with huge potential that is ran by a group of disappoibtments

The underlying game is great, but seriously the design is to just deceive you into spending money. Gems, a rare currency in the game, is intentionally being scammed by unnecessary buttons that exists across the game without any sort of confirmation in the transaction, leaving you with a tedious grind to be able to afford any items that you want unless you are willing to spend in real life money, which is highly encouraged by the game through its constant “deals” rubbing into your face, and a user tier system base on the rare currency that you spend. Moreover, there are essential characters in the game which (is) vital to a player’s progression that can only be bought using irl money. If one is to be determined into making any progress in a realistic timeframe, be prepared to spend half your playtime viewing ads.
This is a vent, but the issues remain and in need of address.

Fun and addicting game until it broke

Game was fun and addicting! Unfortunately the game broke after I reached level 1046. I dont know if this is a game limit but pressing the battle start does nothing. Also, I cannot select units and upgrade them as the tower tab is completely broken. Please help!

Update 3.27: I understand that I’ve reached the max level for now but can you fix the bug? All players that reach 1046 cannot access are towers to change units or upgrade. Please fix asap so we can participate in the event.

Update 3.28 I have spoken to them via fb and addressed the issue. However, the game broke again at 1058. I appreciate the response time, I am now updating my review to 5 stars. I hope you add 200 levels soon.
