Pretty app ruined my great sleeper

2024-10-09

by 359flamingos

Since my baby was born he was a great sleeper! We started tracking after the 4 month sleep regression because that transition really impacted him and we wanted to be sure he got enough sleep. I noticed something off when he turned 5 months and the app dramatically shifted his sleep need, however I stuck with it just for tracking purposes.

Slowly over time it “learned” my baby found it more interesting to be awake and suggested less and less sleep. At about 8 months, I turned to my husband and said “maybe our baby isn’t a good sleeper after all”. After about 2 months of terrible sleep, we hired a sleep nanny and she corrected his sleep in less than 4 days. He went from maybe sleeping 12 hours total sleep, to 12 hours night sleep and 3-4 hrs day sleep. Not to mention he no longer wakes up 2-4 times each night. I mean he sleeps straight through!

Really it’s our fault as parents for not recognizing this sooner, but for such a costly app I’m disappointed they don’t use better recommendation logic to determine minimum sleep patterns and wake windows. I can compare this to the Pampers app, which was much much better at that. I wish I would’ve spent the extra money for that one up front instead of just trying to save money.

I will say, as a person that works in tech, this app has a nice UI compared to the others. Hence the 1 star.

Good for sleep, not so good for tracking

The app is good, it’s spot on with the timing for naps. It’s not magic, our baby still wakes up many times through the night but is understandable as babies go through many things that will make their sleep challenging. I’m giving two stars not because the sleep tracking but because of the bugs and interface. - I love the graph that shows the day and night ahead but you make the effort of tracking everything and then the nice interface disappear and you can’t see how the night went again with the nice graph and only with the historical one which is awful. The sleep is split in two days and so hard to know what is for what night. - Tracking night wakings and things in general is difficult when you or your partner did it and you’re out of sync. You end up duplicating or missing things. - It’s also a mess using the widgets again keeping them in sync with your partner's. Most of the time they’re not up to date and you know the baby was put to sleep and he has a night waking you use the widget and it is not the waking what you did but another sleep and the app accepts it without complaining. - is not clear what you’ll do when clicking the widget. I’ll give 5 stars when those issues are fixed, but those are pretty big issues for me.

No edit option after midnight

2022-12-27

by Jesiqueiros

Edited to address the developer feedback to be clear. Unable to use any longer without paying, so I can’t further explore how it could possibly be edited. But I tried many times in the history tab to much frustration - and I think I’m a relatively tech savvy person. From what I could see you are able to edit entries, but for example if your baby falls asleep for the night at 11:55pm but you don’t add until 12am, you are unable to go into the history tab and add that they fell asleep for the night at that time (again from what I could figure out). You can edit for example a specific nap entry. But when you click the add button, and enter a time in the past day, it believes you mean the future and gives an error. Highly suggest adding a date feature in with the time to make everything more easily editable in the past.

OP: Loved this in real time, but honestly who can remember to mark every single thing the second it happens? Once midnight rolls around there seems to be zero ability to go to the day before and mark when your child went to sleep. We are parents, sleep doesn’t reset at midnight. So confused by this!
