Great workout, trashy music

2022-05-23

I enjoyed the workout and high quality video. There were a few glitches of random video clips inserted into the workout which was confusing. There were also no transitions, leaving you scrambling from laying on the floor to suddenly stand up with a chair. I have used down dog for yoga and never had this issue. I assume these are things that will get smoothed out??

The music was horrible! Found myself spending half the time changing the songs because of vulgarity. I want to be able to do a workout with my daughter and not have to worry about profanity and lyrics such as “I’m gonna take your bra off with my dirty teeth” or “These drugs don’t work, I just can’t get high.” Seriously?? Who made this music track? Not what I’m looking for when trying to reach wellness in the morning. Please change the music.

Yoga great. Barre needs improvement

2022-06-24

The yoga app is great. The barre app needs improvement. It should have levels of difficulty or modification. Some exercises are not designed if you have weak back muscles. You are simply going to extend your back and hurt yourself. Yes it is good for your abdominals, but not for your lower back. BarreDownDog should come with levels or increase in difficulty. If you arch your back when lifting your legs on the matt, which people do if you are not an expert or advanced for that matter, they hurt their back. This is something every instructor would tell you in person. It’s just not designed well for someone that wants a bit more difficulty, but isn’t ready for a 4 minute plank.

Needs steps for beginners

2022-07-25

I love the yoga down dog app so I decided to give this one a try. I’ve never done barre. It needs a setting for beginners that goes a little slower between moves to give time to set up and understand what to do. The transitions are more quick and choppy compared to yoga down dog app. It jumped right in and I’m used to a little more warm up too to get stretched out first. I definitely felt the burn and think the workouts have some potential. It was harder than expected. I’ll keep trying but if some more features were added for different levels of workout that would be great.

No arms

2022-08-26

I was disappointed that there was no specific arm segment. It was all lower body and abs. My bigger disappointment was the music. I chose pop and had a song play that had curse words in it. I had to stop my workout and change the music to dance....also had curse words. Rating songs and changing the playlist during my workout is not something I want to do. Also the count down was not accurate. It would count down to zero but the exercise would continue and another countdown would start. Other than that I do like BarreDownDog okay but it is not as good as down dog.

Not Too Shabby!

2022-09-27

I love the Down Dog app for yoga, and only during the quarantine learned I was paying for all the associated apps, including barre. I used to do barre a LOT at a local, extremely popular studio. BarreDownDog essentially works with the same method, and I generally find it effective. Some drawbacks:

1) If you haven’t taken barre before, I could see people being very confused by the form or practicing with incorrect form. Because there is no live instructor watching you, there will be no way to correct this really.
2) There is very little arm work. It would be good to incorporate more arms!
3) The music selection is limited. If you skip through any songs you don’t like and practice for more than an hour, it will repeat the hip hop music.

Other than that, during the quarantine I find this to be an effective workout! Worth a try and definitely burns out the leg muscles!

Some tiny glitches but overall i love it

2022-10-28

Some annoying little bits where there is no time to transition from one posture to the other, and i lose 2-3 seconds of the workout! also its hard to see the moves from some angles, a camera moving around the person would really help to see exactly what they are doing with a certain move (like their body would cover their leg, so i cant tell if the leg is raised or not, how much the leg is moving, etc). I personally like the music, i listen to a lot of pop music in general but i know a lot of people dont like the songs they pick lol.

Love! Just a few thoughts...

2022-11-29

I have been using the down dog yoga app for a year and love it so I was thrilled to find the barre app! BarreDownDog is great. If I had any recommendations it would be to slow down the transitions between exercises when you are sitting down and standing up. I find myself having to rewind the work out in order to catch up. Also, I would love it if BarreDownDog had a separate section for arms and for arm exercises to be added to the full body section. As it stands, I feel like I need to do other arm exercises when I finish the total body workouts. Overall, this is still great though and I will continue to use it.

Needs arms included and some time between transitions.

2022-12-30

This barre practice does not include any arm exercises. Thought that maybe Down a Dog had a separate arm app but nope. For arms you are on your own. Also, I have to pause sometimes between transitions because doesn’t include any or i will rewind to get what I’ve missed. which is annoying as I don’t want to have to stop my workout to pause and play. I’d like to keep going seamlessly. I suggest a option to allow the user to choose how many seconds between exercises to move where they need to be. At home isn’t an empty gym studio.

Very good

2023-01-31

The down dog apps are all very good. I tried a barre workout today and liked it. The ability to generate new sequences and customize based on personal preference is fabulous. I wish the barre workout had more instruction. In some instances I found it difficult to see exactly what the model was doing. Even if the instruction for various moves were documented on a website or in a reference section on BarreDownDog I would feel more confident knowing I was doing these moves correctly.

A uniquely peaceful aesthetic

2023-03-04

I like how visually simple and acoustically relaxing these workouts are while still being challenging. I’ve never been into the peppy lady yelling at me vibe, and this isn’t that. I usually listen with a podcast playing in the background (major plus that it allows this) but their music options are good too and not mind-numbingly corny like some workout backtracks. My favorite aspect of BarreDownDog is how short I can make each workout. Sometimes I’ll start with just 2 minutes of glutes, which gives me momentum to keep going with different areas of focus. By the same token a 3 minute workout is a great way to break up a study session that’s long from over.

UNBELIEVABLE!!❤️

2023-04-02

So, I have a ballet zoom class only once a week every Friday and during the week, it’s just not enough workout to keep me fit and going sooooooo with Barre, I can stay fit all week and do a daily fitness routine! Barre is such an amazing app and I highly recommend to dancers and everyone who is just in the mood to stay fit! Thank you so much for the professional, and great workouts you provide Barre! I love you! ❤️

Ghazal

2023-05-04

I got to know your apps during quarantine while it was free and your team generously has given me free 6 months subscription twice. I live in Iran we are still suffering from pandemic and it’s mot safe to go to the gym. Your apps have saved me!! I do yoga 2-3 times a week with down dog app and now I have fell in love with barre workouts!!! They were really challenging and after one hour of it I can’t feel my legs any more!

Best low impact workout!!

2023-06-04

This is an awesome workout that is based on ballet/barre. I didn’t have any experience with that type of dance and some of the angles can be a little awkward or subtle, but once you pick it up it’s an awesome workout. This is especially good if you have back/neck issues like myself (aka low impact) while still getting a good sweat and toning your body . Once COVID-19 restrictions began they offered a free trial and I jumped on the opportunity. They even extended it for loss of income circumstances passed the free trial and Ben with customer service was very responsive and helpful.

At home strengthening

2023-07-06

Absolutely love BarreDownDog! Love the ability to dial in whatever time I have available and the possibility to concentrate on key areas. I love the pop music selections and the variety is fun. I also love the demonstrations and pace of the movements. I am just a beginner to barre and I’ve always wanted to incorporate the strength of barre training to my workouts. Now I can with the convenience of mirroring it to my big tv with my own personal coach! Love, love, love!

Great app

2023-08-06

First time doing barre ever and BarreDownDog was very helpful in getting me started. The exercises are reasonable but also challenging enough that you feel the burn. The option to choose different music and control the voice and music volume is great too. It does a great job keeping track of your routines and if you like a particular one you can save it! Overall great beginner or even intermediate app.

Pure experience

2023-09-07

I decided to try BarreDownDog based on a gentleman’s review and how he compared it to other exclusive Barre studios. He was spot on. If you’re a Barre enthusiast, BarreDownDog will give you the experience you came for. I gladly paid a steep price for the studio experience, but the same offered is being offered in BarreDownDog. BarreDownDog also offers the gentleness of yoga vibe. Classic. Try it, you will love it! Btw I’m not a fan of home workouts at ALL , so this rating from me is significant. 😊❤️

New moves, same quality!!

2023-10-09

I’ve been a subscriber to the yoga app for a while now and prefer it over the others I’ve used. Simple and functional format, no issues I’ve come across.
BarreDownDog (plus the new HIIT and 7 minute apps) work just as well and remain easy to use.
I don’t have any background of Barre routines, I just want to broaden my horizons and this works very well.
Now if we could only adjust the volume of the music (across all the apps)... sometimes the instructions are drown out by singing - that’s really the only negative thing I can say.

Amazing- will be upgrading to a paid subscription

2023-11-09

I am a (broke) college student graduating next May, so I am using the free trial until July. I really never like paying for apps (especially fitness ones since there are so many to choose from), but I will definitely be getting a paid subscription when the trial is over! Plus the fact that the owners extended the trial for educators, student and frontline workers is amazing and needs to be recognized and rewarded. Many of my friends will be purchasing as well ❤️

Great for all levels!

2023-12-11

I first downloaded this application right at the beginning of the lockdown/pandemic. I had been working out for a while so I was in good shape and could handle the long workout times. Well pandemic blues hit and I havent worked out in over 4 months, I am in pretty terrible shape and every bit of my body shook even with the easiest shortest exercises. I loved every minute of it. BarreDownDog in invaluable, it lets me enjoy one of my favorite workouts from home and the music + the trainer keep me engaged.

Hooked !

2024-01-11

I tried the free trail on a whim and after almost a month I'm so happy this can be part of my at home routine now! I wish I found it sooner! It’s incredible how many customizable choices there is for the workouts : what type music / voice over ( or silenced , length of work out , difficulty level , focus of what body part to improve. Cannot recommend enough definitely a life changer ! No equipment required other than a chair for barre you can do it anywhere !

Needs work but good

2024-12-16

It's a new app and needs some tweaking, but with a little work this could be a very helpful app. I take Barre classes twice a week and want to use this for the off days, but the pace is way too fast, some of the videos are janky, and a few times the video didn't match up with the workout. It would be nice to have a pace setting like the Down dog yoga app. I will keep coming back to this to check for any updates.

Overly Impressed

2024-12-16

They thought of it all! Other apps have good content as well, but this is the first I’ve tried that nails it- you choose your time, type of music and even control of commands vs music is louder! So great with no fuss.

Love it!

2024-12-16

So excited about this new app! I love how they make it so easy to have a different workout every day. Quick, effective workouts at home make it so I have no excuses about staying healthy and in shape!

Down Dog ROCKS!!

2024-12-16

Not only does Down Dog have a stellar yoga app, they now have THREE new fitness apps!! HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training), 7 Minute Workout, and Barre. I love them all!!! The Barre is harder than it looks. LOL! I foresee myself getting stronger, leaner and much more flexible. Thanks guys/ladies, you rock!!

Barre at Home

2024-12-16

Discovering barre workouts elevates exercise to a level doable for all w/out jumping and the wear on one’s joints associated w/ many workouts. The Downdog Barre app is just the home barre plan I needed. In only 20 minutes I get the benefits of a studio workout.

New to barre

2024-12-16

For many years I’ve used the the down dog app and gone to yoga classes. Lately, I’ve been curious about barre. I have really enjoyed being able to try it before going to a class in public!

Love

2024-12-16

I love all of these new apps from Down Dog, as I’m looking to add some more variety to my workouts. BarreDownDog is very user friendly and gives you an excellent workout. I paid for the lifetime membership for their yoga app because it’s amazing, so I knew these would be great as well! If they made a kick-boxing app too, I’d be very interested. *wink wink*

Really enjoying so far

2024-12-16

I’ve been using the down dog app for yoga for almost a year now and love it. I wanted to try a new workout the other night and tried the barre and I loved it! It’s a great core and glute workout to balance my triathlon training.

Love the variety

2024-12-16

I like what a barre class can do for my body, but an hour Isa bit much for me. Being able to do a 30 minute workout at home is perfect. I’ve used this that past couple of day, and I am very happy with it.

Fits into any schedule

2024-12-16

BarreDownDog plus the yoga version has been the best discovery since I started working from home. The flexibility with length and style of each session makes it so simple to find moments for movement, focus and decompression throughout the day.

Great new addition!

2024-12-16

I’ve used the Down Dog yoga app for a couple years, and love it. I haven’t done Barre before so wasn’t sure what to expect. I’ve done two sessions and am really impressed with the music flow and the easy instructions. It’s fun, and definitely a hard workout for glutes and thighs! I plan to do these a few times a week now.

Fun Barre workout!

2024-12-16

So easy to use and each workout is different! I love BarreDownDog so much it’s helped me get my confidence back working out. Barre workouts are few and far between in my city so it’s nice having this option. The instruction and video is easy to follow. Barre is a fun different workout for me. I’m glad I found it and will definitely incorporate this into my workouts.

Challenging workout!

2024-12-16

I just did my first Barre workout and it was easy to follow with BarreDownDog and a tremendous workout. I am looking forward to doing more. I love the Down Dog app as well so I’m sure this Barre app will not disappoint.
