Money Issues

RIPTAWave, at first (though tricky to learn) was useful and convenient. Loads per device. Bot many alternative options. But the new update is horrible. I would load money to a device it would glitch and load it to another, or would erase my card so i would lose money. Tried to get money back but they didnt do refunds. I missed buses and wasted money because of RIPTAWave and costumer service is really poor. It didnt even respond consistent, i use it one day on my device worked fine then the following day it crashed and again lost my money.

Faulty App

RIPTAWave has a tendency to shut itself off when you select it to pay for fare - I have not been able to use it for the past two weeks because of this issue, and it prevents me from being able to ride the bus because this is usually the only form of payment I have on me. This is not only an inconvenience issue, but it is also an accessibility issue, in that anyone who isn’t able to drive, afford a car, orride-sharing apps needs to be able to safely and smoothly be able to access public transportation. RIPTA, this is a serious issue, and can likely be construed as an ADA violation - please fix the bugs in your app. If you want everyone to switch over to using WAVE, you need to ensure that RIPTAWave actually works. I should not have to uninstall RIPTAWave, reinstall it, and sign back in every time I want to use it. What is the point?

Current version doesn’t work

I updated RIPTAWave this morning and now it doesn’t open. I can’t use it. I can’t pay my bus fare to get to my job. And to top it all off, paper fares are no longer sold by RIPTA. This is the worst possible scenario.

You need to issue a card with every wave account automatically as a fall back option when RIPTAWave is not working—which is GOING to happen and has already happened. I’m stuck waiting for this to get sorted now. I can’t even report this issue to RIPTA because their online form for submitting wave issues requires a Card # which I don’t know because I can’t open RIPTAWave to look it up.

Won’t scan on the bus

RIPTAWave worked fine, I actually thought it was designed well and was aesthetically pleasing. But I have tried to scan the barcode twice now while boarding the bus, and both times it didn’t work. I tried many times on both rides and it just didn’t scan. This is unfortunate because RIPTAWave is so convenient.

Tricky but works fine

RIPTAWave works fine. The interface and use takes a bit to get used to. They just need to include better instructions. Although it’s still better than getting a physical card.

I no longer can access anything

It worked for a while but once it glitched and I couldn’t open my app, I uninstalled then reinstalled only for me not to be able access my virtual card for one reason or another

Downloaded RIPTAWave to take the bus and I created an account and then went to create a card. RIPTAWave glitched and I wasn’t able to make a card but now RIPTAWave says that I have a card so I can’t make another. Even though I was never able to make one in the first place. I have no idea how people are able to get anywhere in this state via public transit with an app like this

Not user friendly at all

I would like to personally award RIPTAWave the title of the most un user friendly transportation app in the nation! I travel several times per week for work, and can find most public transit apps to be fine, however this one is absolutely terrible. Please don’t make it so hard just to buy a ticket? See literally any other cities app for a better example.

RIPTA is a crook!

Don’t waste time or money on RIPTAWave- nothing about RIPTAWave is easy. Every time I add money, which has to be a minimum of 6 dollars every time my funds are taken and I can’t get on the bus. RIPTA is no help- I’m forwarded to line after line and hung up on many times. In total I’ve had to dispute $50 dollars with my bank over this crummy app. Should of stuck to the first app you let riders use- it was SO much simpler.

Better than the old app!

The last RIPTA app for the bus didn’t let you set up auto-purchases, this one does and it seems much better.

Infuriating

I had no issues at the beginning. It worked great, it was easy to use, and came in handy. However, after a few week weeks it didn’t want to open. It forgot my account and made me lose the money I had in there. I missed a couple buses thanks to it. I hate RIPTAWave. It made late for work and abused me so much that I find it unacceptable.

FIX THIS APP

You guys need to work on RIPTAWave because the constant crashing I’m currently having trouble loading my debit card onto your app and ithe fact that you guys took away change cards and transfer cards doesn’t help that RIPTAWave is not working you guys need to work on this I am becoming very unhappy with RIPTAWave.

Can’t use paid for bus pass

After the recent issues where the whole app went down my monthly pass unlinked from the phone it was linked to and there’s no option to add it back despite reinstalling RIPTAWave as I was told and the bus drivers themselves are not always as understanding about the situation

Won’t let me add money to the card

I’d give RIPTAWave 0 stars if I could it’s more of a hassle to use than it’s worth. It hasn’t let me put any money on any of the four wave cards I have on RIPTAWave even after I deleted and redownloading RIPTAWave

Funny how this happens right when the buses stop giving out change cards.

Needs to be fixed ASAP.

Brought the monthly pass now I can’t even use it because RIPTAWave keeps crashing. This issue needs to be resolved ASAP. Because only reason I buy the pass via app is so I don’t carry cash and if I have to pay. I’d probably be stuck because RIPTAWave is crashes everytime I open it.

Save your money

Don’t use RIPTAWave if you go to multiple places in a short time, you can’t buy a transfer pass here (only on RIPTA buss) also and if you try to use the money that is in your card on RIPTAWave , u can’t use it to buy a day pass or month pass.

Lost money

Great when it works, but crashed and I had to make a new card; now I can’t access the old card which has money on it. Lost $10. At least it was only $10

If you’re going to make us use the app, at least make sure it works

Missed an important appointment because I didn’t know y’all stopped doing change cards. Had to go break a 20 and missed the bus because RIPTAWave crashes as soon as I open it.

300% price increase: UNACCEPTABLE

The only passes available in RIPTAWave are day passes ($6) or monthly passes ($70). Why is there no option for one-way tickets? If I simply want to go one-way from point A to point B and use RIPTAWave , I now have to pay $6 instead of $2. Still, I purchased a trial pass and of course, the bus scanner didn’t work. Thanks for nothing, Ripta.

Disappointing

I downloaded RIPTAWave on my IPhone. Then I created an account. I added my payment and added money to the account.

It didn’t work at all when I scanned it as I tried to board two different buses.

The low rating is well justified it appears.

$6 minimum fare?!

Minor omission, you can’t actually buy anything less than a $6 day pass. Fare should be $2 for unlimited rides for an hour, according to the promo materials. Um...
Also, too many security questions. I’d rather not waste high security answers in such a minor app that’s likely to be hacked and then have my info stolen.

Glitchy

I had to create a new card when I updated my phone. I then had to transfer funds from another card. The bus driver was very impatient during this process. I was just trying to be honest and pay for my ride. It’s not my fault RIPTAWave is funky.

Barely works even if isn’t crashing

Buggy, difficult to navigate. Crashes regularly and even when it’s “working” is difficult to scan.

It would be convenient if it worked!
