First ding is it crashed immediately after purchasing the full version. Super laggy and buggy on a M1 Max Macbook pro 16.

Also, I wish I'd read the reviews before purchasing. Voice scrolling (which is the entire reason I bought PromptTeleprompter) doesn't work with any external mic that I've tried. With my macbook lid closed, it doesn't register on the built-in macbook mic either. And I'm not able to have the lid open while on my desk because of my workspace. I purchased it 10 minutes ago and I'm trying to figure out how to get a refund because this thing blows. Look elsewhere.

I really liked PromptTeleprompter when I first downloaded it. It worked well and seemed like it was going to be just what I needed. Then I paid for the full version. It's been glitchy ever since. When editing my scripts, the cursor jumps around and deletes previous characters; the voice scroll feature often doesn't work at all and every other time I try to use it, I get an error saying I've exceeded the daily use limit. I've reached out to customer support twice in the last two weeks with no response. Very disappointed.

If I could give zero stars, I would. I purchase PromptTeleprompter because of the voice scrolling option and nowehere it was mentioned in their website that there is a daily limit to use this feature (10 minutes a day!). I reached out on their website for support months ago and never heard back.
I tried giving PromptTeleprompter another go just now, just to be cut off after 10 minutes into the voice scrolling feature.

I hope now the developers will get back to me after this review and give me a refund for such rubbish app.

It will work for a short period of time (perhaps a specific number of characters?), and then just stop following/listening to my voice. No matter how many times I adjust and change the text, it always stops in the middle of the dialogue and never allows me to complete. Total waste of money. Yes, I purchased PromptTeleprompter. Wish I could get a refund.

PromptTeleprompter has so many issues. I worked on macOS for 13 years at Apple so I understand applications. The UI doesn't respond to a lot of standard macOS keyboard shortcuts, but that is a minor issue compared to basic functionality failure. I bought PromptTeleprompter for the voice telepompter support, but that works iffy at best. It frequently looses track of where I am at, and starting/restopping gets it confused. I have to stop/start the Voice Scroll feature to get it to work again, and that is super annoying. The saving of scripts is buggy, doesn't seem to interpret files with < > in them, and sometimes doesn't save my work. I haven't spent the time to reproduce or report a lot of these bugs to the developer, as I just don't have the time to do their QA for them. Overall, it seems like a bad port from the iPad to macOS.

I was trying the free version before investing the $10, and was sad to discover the voice recognition kept getting stuck. I would repeat the words, I retyped the script, i imported it different ways, but it couldn't make it throught the free characters without getting stuck in different places. Bummer.

The voice recognition scans ahead by word instead of by line (like SmartPrompt for iOS). Not the end of the world as the tracking is pretty good, just a little more jarring that a smooth line-by-line progression.

My two biggest beefs with PromptTeleprompter, unfortunately, are:

1. You can't make the prompt window transparent like many other teleprompter apps

2. You CAN'T copy & paste text into the editor!! (unless I'm missing something critical). You have to type up your prompt entirely in PromptTeleprompter or link a doc through one of the integrations. I have no interest in linking my docs with other applications in general, so this unfortunately non-feature means PromptTeleprompter is unusable for me.

I was excited to use this as it voice scroll. I upgraded to the paid version then after using it. It came me a pop up window: "You have exceeded the daily online voice recognition limit. Please se up offline recognition to continue using voice recognition." What is this? So this voice scroll has limitations?

A unique feature I wanted was the voice scrolling. It reasonably worked when I tried it with the M1 Mac Pro Mic. But, having an external Mic setup (the kinds of persons more likely to use and buy this kind of app), it didn't work. I ended up using the timer only feature which wroks... but is not as functional. I would have looked elsewhere before spending mone next time.

But when you try to use an external microphone, the voice scrolling doesn't work...

Support has been less than supportive... They asked for more information and then radio silence. Think the problem is the microphone, but I can't even get them to tell me which microphone their app WILL work with... ( aside from the built in mic on my MacBook Pro ) They tell me they don't have an issue but without knowing what they are using, I still have an app that doens't work with an external microphone and without going out and buying and returning a bunch of microphones, I have zero direction which way to start to troubleshoot this issue

Some prompter apps allow you to have left aligned text with custom margins, as it is the industry standard way to read teleprompter for talent in English. In PromptTeleprompter, you need centered text if you want margins on both sides of text, which is super awkward. I imagine this should be an easy fix… Reluctant to recommend due to this glaring flaw.

Otherwise, control options like separate iOS device are very intuitive. Haven’t tried my foot pedal yet.

Also had some trouble finding settings. Odd user interface choice to have that appear under the “?” Would appreciate folders for scripts so it can be more organized. Would love if color/font pasted in properly formatted so all word processing work could be done in other software that specializes in this. My workflow relies on tools like Google Docs for collaboration and having to redo things in here is a pain.

Margins getting added would give this a 4/5 value. If those other things get fixed/added, it’s a 5/5 value. It’s simple and stable, which is my main criteria.

The beauty behind using PromptTeleprompter was that I can use my phone as a remote to control my iPad that’s attached to the teleprompter… but over the last two weeks it keeps getting hung up. If I scroll using my phone, the iPad gets hung up and then becomes choppy as it struggles to catch up to the point I scrolled to on my phone. This didn’t used to happen. Even after a restart. How do I fix this?

I was interested in PromptTeleprompter because of the voice scroll feature. It does a really good job keying track of where you are at using voice recognition. *However*, it keeps the active text at the very *top* of the prompter. I wish there was a way we could make the text to read be right in the middle, where the center of the camera is. A way to adjust the top margin would do it. Other than this, it seems to do the best job following along using voice recognition than the other apps I’ve tried.

I would like to record myself talking. For this I need to look into a camera (not my computer). I would like to pause the scroll, read the text, speak with the scroll on, pause, and repeat. All this without breaking eye contact. I thought my logitech changer (the one I used for changing ppt slides) might help, and it does respond in some weird way, but will not suspend the scroll.

There is a challenge for you.

It would be awesome if the clock could be set to show at the top of the screen, so that we don’t have to glance down(away from the camera) while using. I LOVE the fact that text formatting is available in PromptTeleprompter —big plus!

When using a tablet as a promoter I like to have a phone as the remote. This is PromptTeleprompter I’ve found that has got it right. The script I see in the phone (remote) is EXACTLY the same as what’s on the promoter (tablet).

I also appreciate the OneDrive integration.

It's impossible to refer to notes and look at the computer's camera at the same time. Prompt has given me the ability to have eye contact without losing my notes!

I love the voice tracking feature and that it works with Dropbox. I think it’s worth the purchase.
