Couldn’t tell you

Couldn’t tell you how well the playing media from the phone on the Roku works since that feature costs money. I didn’t bother to use remote features because I can use the free roku made app for that. I wanted I watch video from my phone on my tv and don’t get me wrong I’m not someone who refuses to pay for the apps I use, after spending money on apps that don’t do what they claim to do I won’t spend a dime unless I know it’ll work. My suggestion to the developer is give TVRemote the ability to use the feature for a limited time even if it’s just 5 to 10 minutes give a potential subscriber the chance to see the quality of your product and let them determine if the quality of the product you’re selling is worth the cost. When you block the key feature like that one, the one which is the main selling point considering how many other apps that offer to act as remote the impression given by requiring money prior to allowing your customer test it out is that it doesn’t work well and you’re trying to get a customers money before they realize they’ve paid for something that doesn’t work or doesn’t work well. Not that is then intention of the developer but it is the impression given.

It’s not a “limited” version

Firstly, no offense to anyone who pays the monthly subscription for a tv remote.

But I misplaced my remote and instead of looking for it, I thought “hm, until I find it I’ll just TVRemote . But, I don’t wanna pay 10 dollars a month just to use TVRemote .” And for those who use TVRemote exclusively. You could buy a remote for 15 bucks. Why would anyone pay 10 dollars a month? And also, the limited version doesn’t even let me press any buttons without a prompt to purchase. Come on now, talk about a money grab. TVRemote looks good though, so you deserve a star for that.

It’s essentially not free, weekly subscription

If you don’t upgrade, every single time you use the remote to do anything it will prompt you to upgrade. Then you have to find the small link to continue with limited access. I’m not paying $3 a week or $19 a month to use a remote. If you need money that bad after the ads already on the remote you shouldn’t have released TVRemote until you had the capital. 🤷🏽‍♀️ this might be my first or second review in years, it was that annoying.

Didn’t mean to purchase app

I didn’t mean to purchase TVRemote- (aside from the fact that it wouldn’t even connect to my network after almost 30 minutes of trying) I have no way of contacting anyone to stop my card from being charged the $21 and change for the year. There was no email, no phone number and you don’t accept messages on Facebook messenger... although, that’s what you have listed as your website. I’ve already deleted TVRemote but want to be sure I’m not charged. Sorry for the mixup- hopefully someone can help.

Can't find my way out of this nightmare

I had a free one that you just had to watch an add every now and then but my son deleted it while playing with my phone. I put this one on and it was difficult to use because it would say to purchase or continue with limited access. I did not mind the limited access but when I would click that option nothing would happen and you would have to press it multiple times. I accidentally hit the other option and when I tried to exit TVRemote By hitting the circle button at the bottom of the phone it processed my payment. I haven't got the slightest clue how to cancel this.

Needs a lot of work

Right out of the gate, TVRemote claimed there was no music content available on my phone. Strike 1. I almost punted then but suddenly, magically, after navigating around a bit, a list of songs appeared. It connected to my Roku fine so I changed to Album view. There was no order to the albums - just randomly listed - so you have to scroll around to find one (I have hundreds so that’s quite inconvenient). Strike 2. Then, when I selected an album to try it, I got a list of the album contents but it was the same song; an album with 16 songs, if song names were sorted alphabetically, it listed the first song 16 times. Strike 3. No other views/filters for music, i.e., by genre, artist, ... To its credit, it did cast the music to the Roku so at least that function seemed to work. Doesn’t seem like this is ready for prime time.

Includes unnecessary paid subscription

For some reason this official roku app requires you to pay the subscription just for you to do simple tasks like turning up the volume to a certain number or operating other buttons on the remote. I don’t recommend TVRemote because you shouldn’t have to pay for something that the other roku app remotes do for free. So what I do recommend is that you download the other roku apps that also let you play tv and do the extra extensions TVRemote has as well.

Why pay?

So I was babysitting my friends kid and her normal remote wasn’t working so I went to find something that I could use since the kid wanted to watch cartoons. Why would someone pay a week to use TVRemote? I would HOPE something like this would be free to people with these TVs since I know the tv itself is expensive. I’m glad there’s a 3 day trial period, because if never pay $5 a week just so I could turn on the tv once 🙃 giant waste of money in mind.

Buggy but better than most

Works much better than most remote apps for other devices, BUT it’s very buggy whenever I try to connect to a device. I literally have to close TVRemote , turn off my wifi, reopen TVRemote , go to devices, turn my wifi back on, and even then I get weird error messages saying I have no devices, above my device list, clearly listing my device? Sometimes it goes away after a few seconds, but if it doesn’t I have to start the whole process over. Basically, TVRemote won’t open or load if my wifi is on, but it also has an issue recognizing authorization of devices on my network.

Fix this...

So TVRemote is good and just like the others but why would y’all want us to buy something just to get to an app faster?? Makes no sense :/ Also my mom has this spectrum app and she can turn off anybody’s WiFi at anytime that connected to the WiFi and you have to have WiFi to use the remote LITERALLY now that makes no sense why do we have to have WiFi just to use an app? Anyways I recommend this to people’s but if your moms like to cute of the WiFi hurry up and download a new one also if you wanna ask why do you need a roku remote app if you wont have WiFi?? Well sometimes my mom wakes me up to take care of my baby sister and she has this tv and she puts me and all my siblings in a group on the spectrum app so she can turn it off when she wants to and forgets to turn it back on and I sometimes wanna put coco Mellon on for her so she can be chill and I could do me and ya so I recommend it to the People that moms don’t turn off the WiFi peace

Works good most of the time

TVRemote is perfect if you lost your Roku tv remote, works wonderful most of the time. The only issue we have with it is suddenly the volume key starts going all the way up and there’s no way to stop it, literally we have it on 12-14 usually and without pressing any buttons on TVRemote the volume starts increasing til it reaches 100, so I tried turning it down, not working, powered the tv off and remote app volume is still clicking it self up. I removed TVRemote and re added, no change. I hope I can get it to work normal again. It has happened at least 10 times in the past few months. I used to have iPhone 7, now I have a 12 and still has it he same issue with volume increasing to 100.

Works fine, needs to be free :/

So I misplaced my physical remote and could never find it, so I thought I could use TVRemote as a replacement until I find it. The remote itself works ok, kinda slow but whatever. It’s just dumb that you’re forced to pay a subscription just to use even the basic features (like the remote). Should be free imo.

(EDIT) lol I forgot the roku app has a free remote so uh yeah TVRemote is useless

Lightly expensive...

TVRemote UI is awesome, clean but still elaborate. The last icon was DEFINITELY better than this current one!
What if it was renamed, simply, Roku Remote?
Two things I’d LOVE to see...
1. TVRemote should remember the last Roku device used. I have to choose each time TVRemote is opened. It would be nice to have TVRemote open straight to the remote for the Roku device last used.
2. I wish I could opt out of the reminder to download the Roki Channel every time I open TVRemote . Couldn’t users disable this?

Handy - once the TV is already turned on

Nicely designed app overall, and a handy alternative to the remote that comes with the TV. One major annoyance though, which Roku probably cannot fix because it's a hardware limitation. TVRemote cannot be used to turn on my TV. I believe that's because it works through the local network, and if the TV isn't on, it isn't listening to the network. So I still need the regular remote, or to cross the room and turn on the TV.

Great back up

Last night I misplaced the remote. It was late and I just didn’t feel like tearing the house apart looking for it. I would do that in the morning. It was great using the remote app as a back up. I got to lay in bed and watch my favorite shows on TV.

I gave it 4 stars because I think it should be a free app. It would not let me open TVRemote without committing to a month $4.99 - it did have a 3 day free trail so I will cancel today, since Ive found my remote. I know somewhere there is a free remote app cause I’ve used it about a year ago. So has that changed? I hope not. If so I will buy an upgraded remote and use my current remote as my back up.

This remote is pretty DOPE!

I didn’t think it was possible for TVRemote to be faster than the actual Roku remote. But it is!!! No lie! I’m not a bot!
It’s worth the small fee to just always have the remote and not have to dig through everything to find the remote!!

5 star app

Quick easy and convenient a busy single mom on the go and when I can’t find my remote I just quickly easily download the roku remote app LOL . A five star app kudos to the executives making the big decisions in regards to TVRemote

Saved the day

My wife or daughter lost our remote control to our TCL (for the 10th time), and downloaded TVRemote only for the remote. It worked fast. For simplicity, be in the same room as the television you are attempting to connect to.

PS. We are still gonna find the remote

Phone remote 🎉

The remote that came with our Roku TV has been awful since day one, using the phone is quicker & having a keyboard makes searching easy. There’s nothing that you can do on the remote, that you won’t be able to do with TVRemote .

Remote

Awesome back up if you’re like me and have two young kids they cannot hold onto the remotes and keep losing them and then ending up behind couches or somewhere where you’re not gonna be able to find it right away just comes in at the right time definitely a winner

Has potential but free version is worthless

Maybe the pay version works flawlessly, but it seems too buggy and slow to risk paying money for, especially at their prices.

Fine before auto update

Original version updated to a way less functional without my doing anything

I can’t mirror my screen

Hi I pre download TVRemote and the screen mirror is not working I can find the option

Can’t get all songs on iTunes

Won’t sync iTunes music

This is Awesome!

TVRemote is Awesome for pranks! When I first got TVRemote I turned off the tv downstairs and my family freaked out! It was so much fun! Great Work!
