It takes off points for phone use if you use navigation
grades you on hard braking which sometimes you will have to do
If you use your phone right when you stop you get points off
It will start recording you if you start running and grade your running

I started using SafestDriver when another safe driving app was discontinued, and I really enjoyed the details provided with SafestDriver. However, sometime around mid-September, SafestDriver just stopped functioning. I wasn’t recording any of my driving after that. Tried working with customer support. All settings were correct. Uninstalled and reinstalled, still wouldn’t work. I’m giving up!

After the last update, about half the time it doesn’t work. Update: over the last few days, it recorded a five minute walk but it did not record a fifty mile drive. I think you need another update.

It is an interesting app, and there are some things to be learned from it. But don’t take the score too seriously.
On several occasions it told me I was speeding by doing 34 in a 25 mph zone. However, what was wrong was that the 25 mph was only applicable when school children were present or warning lights are flashing.
Also, it flags for hard braking. There are times when hard braking is unavoidable due to something or someone doing something unexpected. For instance, an animal suddenly running out or another driver failing to yield the right-of-way. SafestDriver is not capable of seeing why you had to hard brake.
I realize that scoring drivers has become a popular metric. But, an app only sees part of a scenario and cannot replace the judgement of an experienced driver with an excellent driving record.

There has to be a bug in firmware I got two safe driver the both stopped recording the same day.

You may thank you are stopping smoothly, but as soon as an objective application starts taking measurements it will become abundantly clear that you are not as good a driver as you think you are. Now, I looked down the road so that I can stop smoothly. I watch my speed carefully, and I accelerate smoothly. If you have an analytical mind, you will find this objective data priceless.

Starting using SafestDriver at the suggestion of a friend, and now I check it a couple times a day because I’m curious how well my last drive was. It’s actually addictive - to want to drive safer. Never thought I’d say that...!
