ESPN Wisconsin Reviews

I’d happily pay for a functional service such as this. But so many basic functions are broken. Look at what any modern podcast or streaming app can do that this cannot.

Perhaps contract with some other entity to develop?

Sincerely hope it improves.

ESPNWisconsin is terrible. It’s too bad because I was excited for the chance to pay for the content. It is unusable while driving or exercising, which are important times for using podcasting apps.

Major issues
1.) Not ability to speed up playback. All other apps have an option to listen at 1.5-2x normal speed
2.) No playlist functionality, to control which episodes play in which order
3.) App can’t handle special characters in the password ( not that they say this anywhere, nor do they not allow you to use them) you just continually fail to log in no matter how many times you type the right password.

ESPNWisconsin is awful. When you close a podcast, it doesn’t hold your place. Can’t stream live radio, once your phone locks. I would delete it, but it has all the shows I enjoy listening to for Wisconsin sports.

The content is very good; ESPNWisconsin itself is not so good. If you pause and leave ESPNWisconsin and then come back to pick up where you left off, it completely forgets where you were.

Keeps cutting out over and over and over again

Five stars for the content, two stars for ESPNWisconsin . Happy to subscribe and get all this content, BUT... Very frustrating that ESPNWisconsin quickly forgets where you were in a podcast if you pause and leave ESPNWisconsin for more than a few minutes. This is a significant and frustrating flaw. Also, it currently doesn’t work with apple car play. Hoping they will quickly fix the major flaw of not saving one’s place in a paused podcast. The lack of apple car play support is not as significant, but means ESPNWisconsin is currently inferior to most other podcast apps that support apple car play and android auto.

3 Month Update: I wrote the original review in early November. It is now mid February, more than 3 months later. There has not been a single update to ESPNWisconsin in over 3 months. It still has all of its flaws. Terrible support. As much as I love the content, I will not subscribe for another year knowing how little effort they put into ESPNWisconsin. What a shame.

It’s a four star review because I want a few things like automatic download of files in shows I add to favorites. Also I can’t find a way to add a show to favorites.

UPDATE: After using it a couple of days it really needs some things.
1. *We need one page to show all downloads across all shows. *WHOOPS FOUND THIS. AWESOME!!
2. Needs a speed option. Podcast apps let your speed up shows to listen faster.
3. Needs to remember where you were last time you opened. It loses your place sometimes when you switch to another app for a minute. UPDATE: This is not fixed in latest update. Thanks. That’s a big improvement.

UPDATE TWO: Come on Man! Need an update. Listening live is totally broken. You need to fix that. I’m trying to listen today and it stops every few minutes. I have to go in and refresh the page to make our start again.

UPDATE THREE: they totally removed this option which stinks.

Put live listening back and as a sped up option for in demand listening And you get 4 stars. The player controls need to be bigger and easier to hit while driving. Then it will get 5 Stars.

Please please please fix the episode upload. Make it so we can listen to the 9am hour and go right to the 10am hour then the 11am…

I like to listen to ESPN MILWAUKEE and Espn Madison with ESPNWisconsin because I live in Central Wisconsin.
I listen to other stations on Iheart or TuneIn or RadioNet.
There are a lot less commercials on ESPN which makes it a pleasure to listen to.
