Night Owl Protect Reviews

Just replaced a 7 year old night owl system with the new 8 channel 4K wired cameras. Setup was very easy. I had one glitch in NightOwlProtect after installing, 24 hrs after installation NightOwlProtect said that said no device added and couldn’t connect. I reloaded and is fine as of now. I have one bad camera that the light and night vision doesn’t work, I tried another camera on that channel and it works. Waiting to get a email from warranty department on replacing after calling this morning. Only con I would say with the camera system is that the cameras themselves although very clear picture compared to my old 720k, they seem very cheaply made. The old ones were all metal and strong, these are all plastic and very light. Only time will tell how they hold up to the elements all of which were fully exposed, the 7 year old cameras I had were still in good condition after going through all the years of temperatures as low as -6f up to 110f and in direct sunlight, heavy rains and snow.

The speakers are junk as people can’t understand a word you are saying. Even with all 4 batteries, the life is not as advertised, I had to buy power cords to run them full time hooked up. Takes way to long to link up when you get an alert sometimes many minutes. At times you have to uninstall program and reinstall to fixReoccurring glitch. The cameras do show an high quality image but the replay of alert videos are hit or miss and take forever to upload if at all. I have a newer apple phone. This has the potential to be a great system for the price but I’m left disappointed. FYI this is my second Night Owl system, the first one a different model performs much better but you can no longer get replacement cameras which is disappointing.

For the most part NightOwlProtect has been pretty good , but there is a big glitch that when moving through the time , it goes forward an hour of the time you are looking for. Don’t know if it’s just my app or anyone else is having this problem, it makes it VERY annoying to look at a certain time you want.

The camera have great features as I have the battery powered version. However, they mean nothing if NightOwlProtect itself doesn’t work properly or even at all sometimes. There are many downsides at the moment. From failing to connect to your cameras and viewing through them on NightOwlProtect to constant loading without end throughout NightOwlProtect such as finding your system or cameras and viewing recorded history.

On the cameras, while they have great features, they don’t always work. Notice sometimes they don’t record anything even though did previously. Got them mainly for the subscription free part and app viewing while away with the nice features, but right now only the subscription free is all I’m getting out of it.

Completely HORRIBLE!!! Every single thing about it is horrible. It sends notifications of movement then when you click on it it tells you nothings connected. When you call customer care you have to go through your whole in home device and reset everything on the device, computer and then phone. It takes about 6 hours each time and all they do is transfer you. Seriously find a better camera with better customer care.

**UPDATE** IDK what was fixed or improved, it’s worse than before. And customer service with this company is an absolute joke!!! Seriously save your sanity and money, go with a better company - they just hang up on you if you ask questions.

Not sure why some people have had issues with NightOwlProtect . I get notifications, can watch live video footage, access my recordings, save snapshots of the recordings and have shared access to my system with close friends and family. Someone broke into my neighbors car and I was able to share footage with the cops using NightOwlProtect , which put me on good terms with my neighbor. Overall, it’s been easy to use and I like the features. No complaints.

Incredibly disappointed with this system. The color is horrible which ultimately we could deal with. However, we have to logout and back in EVERY SINGLE TIME we want to view anything. One of us may get an alert while the other doesn’t and yes, alerts are turned on. The logging out and back in was an issue a while back but it seemed to be resolved for a short time. Now it’s back and worse than before. Looking forward to replacing these very soon. Pay attention to the reviews folks. There aren’t many and the majority are bad or mediocre. This speaks volumes! Not worth the price when you can get a much better system for a little more.

I would like to state I’ve never written a review on anything but this just ticked me enough. It was working fine for awhile & I loved the device and app, but as time went by I would lose connections a few times and about 2 weeks ago I stopped getting notifications/Alerts. It got fixed and worked again for awhile. Now I’m back to no notifications or Alerts.

This bugs me because I’m in the military in a whole other country right now and I can’t even protect my family back home.
I’ve contacted support aswell & no surprise there was no response.

All these five star reviews are fake. Anybody who has used NightOwlProtect regrets their purchase. The cameras are okay but NightOwlProtect integration is abysmal. Takes 30s to pull up anything so the live notifications are practically worth less. You can only see events for 24 hours on mobile. Can’t see continuous recordings only events. Downloading events is slow, the NVR software is slightly better but still awful to navigate through. Night owl. Please hire some new application developers and pay them handsomely to at least provide a decent end experience. Right now it’s awful. Needs a total overhaul.

NightOwlProtect was incredibly easy to set up and was extremely easy to use for a new user. I can watch my cameras live and even set up notifications for movement. This has helped tremendously with packages disappearing off my porch and my family feeling safer in our home. I have recommended it to all my friends and anyone who asks.

I don’t understand how hard it is to get an app working correctly. My Tesla app, which is my key, never goes out. It is always connected. NightOwlProtect is constantly disconnecting. And I’m always having to add the device again because for some reason it losses the device. Not to mention when it is working, it takes forever to show a live view. They should go back to the old night owl app. At least that one worked. Fire the idiot that created NightOwlProtect and start from scratch! The worse thing I ever did was to upgrade to these cameras. It wasn’t an upgrade.

I have this system and have barely any problems except on NightOwlProtect but overall it works if you have problems restart your system delete all cameras and restart the install. You might have to manually hit reset on the camera itself but not bad at all just have to tinker with it

I had a night owl system for almost a decade, but recently updated to one of their new systems. NightOwlProtect is much more user friendly than the old one. Definitely made setup much easier…way cool to setup thru app. Not sure anyone from night owl sees this, but thanks for the help from the legacy team… Made upgrading much easier.

I connected and paired all the devices, but when I try to access the cameras on NightOwlProtect it says that I have to check the internet connection of my phone. Even tho I’m connected to WiFi, I refreshed NightOwlProtect , downloaded it again and it still says the same thing. I also tried contacting support, but when I enter the help center it only gives me a tutorial on how to connect and pair the devices.

I will be waiting for your response, and if I receive help I will change the review to a better one.

Definitely recommend night owl. App and system are easy to use and very high image quality. I especially like the ability to distinguish between a person or something else. It only notices you if a person is detected. As opposed to a dog walking across the lawn.

I am having a lot of problems with the length of time to login and then along time for app to come online and when I it finally comes online some cameras are still waiting to get on line or are blacked out and have no picture. Then when I close NightOwlProtect and come back later to view it I have to log out and then back on and go through the same aggravation again. The old app was easier and quicker than this new app, can I get my old version back please.

I’ve had my cameras for a couple months. In beginning they were ok along with NightOwlProtect . Now I get constant notifications for face or human detection. When I check there is nothing there. Just recently it seemed like everything stopped working. My cameras and app are off and I can’t get them back online but some how I still get notifications for everything. I’ve spent a lot of money on these cameras you would think there wouldn’t be as much issues. So Disappointed

It disconnects all the time and says no devices have been added, so I have to log out and back in to reconnect. The cameras will start recording for no reason, no movement detected, however when someone comes to my front door to deliver a package or a car parks on my driveway it won’t record it. I bought these hoping they would help me see what’s going on at my property when I’m not there, but they’re useless for the most part. Or maybe it’s just NightOwlProtect that needs fixing.

I’ve had this system for a while now and I’ve been hoping for some improvement within NightOwlProtect but so far- nothing.

There is a 15 second delay from the time the camera detects movement to the time it pings your phone.

Opening NightOwlProtect takes another 10-15 seconds to get to a view screen. So typically you miss whatever it was by the time NightOwlProtect responds.

The “human” detection picks up EVERYTHING. So it alerts you when a tree sways in frame.

I finally wired them to a dedicated monitor so they are always on the screen.

NightOwlProtect has crashed on me more than a handful of times and I have to delete it and totally reinstall it to get it working again.

So it’s just - Meh… for now - until I upgrade to a better system.

These updates make NightOwlProtect worst. My device erases and I have to add it in again. It doesn’t record properly and it’s just hard to use on NightOwlProtect. It laggs and all have to connect my tv to device to see any recorded old events. NightOwlProtect on my phone says no events available. There’s no point for this whole entire app or system.

The ring is better! This is my second system purchasing. Awful don’t waste your money on it.

Okay, we connected the cameras, did an account, logged in, and we were in. A few days later we weren’t able to see the cameras; we had to add the devices all over again but won’t connect, we did all the steps we had been instructed, but nothing worked. I called and I email. When I called they put me on hold for long period of time and all they did was give me a case number and that I would be contacted in the next 24-48 hours. A week later no call. When I emailed, I got a respond saying call our number and they would help me. SERIOUSLY!!! Y’all did nothing to help or help resolve the problem. That was the worse customer service I’ve received. At the end of the day I’m returning the cameras, they were useless. Sorry Night Owl but y’all’s product is worthless.

We loved our night owl app because it showed us detected movement outside our house and helped us keep an eye out for the past few months we have had them! Until last night, I got on NightOwlProtect to look at my cameras like I always do, and IT WAS SOMEONE ELSES HOUSE!! I am very upset and concerned! I went to my settings to see if I was still logged into my account and it is still MY email address and MY account that I created, BUT WITH SOMEONE ELSES CAMERAS!! My fear now is “who has access to see my cameras and house, if I don’t have access to see them?!?!” This is ridiculous, and I hope to be hearing back from the company soon!

Set up went fine for the first few hours then the wnvr became invalid in NightOwlProtect . I deleted the device, tried to add it again, no matter what I do NightOwlProtect will not add the wnvr again. The videos are no help at all with this issue. They just keep showing how to add the device, which DOES NOT WORK AFTER DELETING SAID DEVICE from NightOwlProtect . I just want to add it again so I can view from my phone! Please help! Love the camera hate how frustrating you have made this.

WiseNet has 100% way easier set up and wi fi app use. Do not have to be plugged in with Ethernet to stream to your phone.

I used to have Night Owl Connect and just upgraded to this system. The initial setup and installation was easy and straightforward. The live feed and playbacks load very fast. A great improvement compared to Night Owl Connect is that I can control the playbacks now. Highly recommended!

I tried logging in to my device but it won’t allow me even though I reset the password it’s considered wrong even though the information was correct

I just purchased my system.. System will not allow me in invite our family members to view the cameras.. I will not is y’all the system with this problem.. Should I return the system? Please Advise .. NightOwlProtect is really messed up!!!!!!!

Love the single sign on so I only need to remember one username/password for all the devices. I did notice that NightOwlProtect only works on their newer models. Hope they can move my older product to this new app soon.

Had some issues at the beginning but everything works ok after the latest update. Thanks

Worst app ever. Thought this would be better than the other apps but I couldn’t even get my night owl to sync with NightOwlProtect and when I tried to login I got an error message. Tried to type my stuff in to login in just Incase it saved my stuff and it gave me more error messages. Stupid app 0 stars

My Night owl app is not connecting to my DvR system and i’ve tried various steps to connect it, and it simply doesn’t connect.

This is the 3rd time that I have had to uninstall and reinstall NightOwlProtect. I still get notifications, but NightOwlProtect will not allow me to login. Very frustrating that I spent all this money, and NightOwlProtect is not working properly.

Why does NightOwlProtect keep notifying me that cams was moved. It literally sent like 20 notifications back to back!?

It was working fine until couple days ago I’m getting error message and I cannot log in.

If I can give NightOwlProtect a negative star I would. For a while the program was working fine on my iPhone. Then it comes up with “authentication delegate not set”. How can it be “not set” if I have been using it for a while?! I used to be able to login with my face or my four digit numerical code. But now I am locked out! Also I’m not able to login on my monitor even though I’m using the exact same password.
Also I need to point out one thing about their cameras - they are not infrared! Instead they have a little white LED light that turns on to light up the area.
In hindsight I wish I had never purchased these low tech cameras! My bad, for not reading all the negative reviews! If I had I would never would’ve purchased these cameras.
