Laguna Beach Parking Reviews

LagunaBeachParking has several problems, all fixable, but it’s not user friendly on the fly.
The meter itself was not responding to credit cards, only coins (!) so we were forced to use an app that we did not have. After downloading it on the fly, we were unable to use it, because it doesn’t work until it confirms your email address, and the email is not sent until about 10 mins after you try to create the account. It doesn’t tell you that you have to confirm the email, so go ahead and look in your inbox but if it’s not there, just be aware that it takes a long time to arrive. If you get through that, it also does not allow you to start to pay until you have already saved your credit card in the account page. And it theoretically has an option to save the meter number automatically, but you cannot toggle that to the ON position (at least on my screen) because the text is too long and pushes it to the edge of screen.
All in all, terrible performance and mighty unfortunate that the meter is set up to require it. I’d rather carry a bag of coins. Or just not visit the area.

I paid for 1 hour of parking and LagunaBeachParking said 1 hour but the meter showed 17 minutes. I paid for another hour on LagunaBeachParking and while LagunaBeachParking showed 2 hours, the meter never updated.
It would also be nice if you could just use your camera to scan your spot and pay instead of entering the parking number.
It would also be nice if you could just add time to a meter that still had time left.
For all these reasons, I will use my credit card and not LagunaBeachParking . At least until the have a complete overhaul/upgrade…

Looking at the version history, I’m guessing things have improved since the earlier reviews as I used LagunaBeachParking for the first time just now.

The reason for 4 stars is the lack of intuitive design. It’s not clear that you must have an account to pay. The opening screen implies you can pay as a guest, but all that allows you to do is search for a spot. The sign up process is not too onerous once you twig what’s going on.

My other suggestion would be to make it easier to clear the spot selection and start over. I felt I had to kill LagunaBeachParking to do that. The option on the map didn’t do that for me.

I added back one star for not charging a crappy convenience fee! Well done Laguna Beach city!

I tried 5 times to save a payment method (I reentered my credit card info each time) and it said it saved, but when I went to pay, LagunaBeachParking said there was no credit card saved. I tried over and over again to add my credit card until I finally gave up and decide to put my card directly into the meter. What a waste of 10 minutes standing on the sidewalk while my family stood there waiting to go to the beach. I deleted LagunaBeachParking .

I have a few concerns about LagunaBeachParking. I paid the parking fee through LagunaBeachParking, but how do other people (or cops) know I paid it already? I paid it and left the car and nothing really happened. But the green light wasn’t there so I’m not sure like how does this work??? Maybe someone could explain the whole process so that it’ll be easier for people to pay through?? And also we need 0.4 dollars transaction fee??? That’s kinda too extra though..

LagunaBeachParking itself is simple once you get your account and card set up so easy an old person can do it all the information needed is on the meter itself, the only thing that’s concerning is that the meter doesn’t register as paid but it’s paid on your phone..., I just hope the parking meter ladies don’t ticket me still.

As others have said on here - LagunaBeachParking is terrible. They ticket you, LagunaBeachParking doesn’t have receipts enabled so you can’t prove that you paid and the meter doesn’t show if you pay through LagunaBeachParking (which then offers no proof). I even took screenshots which were “insufficient evidence” that I paid. Just use the meters (and take a picture of it for proof). Shame on laguna beach for sanctioning this crap of an app and defrauding people out of money.

This is the worst parking app I have ever used. Makes it extremely difficult to pay, add a card, and especially hard find your location.

You should be able to pay without creating an account, verifying an email, and wasting 15min trying to figure out how to work LagunaBeachParking .

I recommend trying to use measures similar to EasyPark. Make it dead simple and be compatible with ApplePay.

Not sure why everyone’s so mad. It’s a little annoying to set up, and the interface needs work, but you can pay for parking with your phone around Laguna Beach, it notifies you when it’s about to expire, and it’s easy to add time. 🤷‍♂️

Most useless and frustrating app I have ever used it does not give you any information when you try to do parking now or does it save any information a three-year-old could’ve written better after Ness stay away from LagunaBeachParking shame on Laguna for allowing LagunaBeachParking to be in LagunaBeachParking Store put the black eye on the government Laguna

We ran out of coins and had to use LagunaBeachParking , worked well ! The email to verify was sent in a min and was able to add credit card to verify ! Perfect

LagunaBeachParking is deceptive… After authorizing payment to add time, you are notified AFTER the transaction that this doesn’t actually add time to your meter. So if you still have time on the clock, you have to wait till it expires to “add time”. I still had an hour left, so basically paid DOUBLE for my last hour with no extra time added.

Shame on you Laguna! You can do better. Very disappointed.

LagunaBeachParking could’ve been something great and useful, but the designers and developers failed miserably. The design of LagunaBeachParking is poor, and the fact that you must create an account that asks for completely unnecessary information is insane. Once going through that painful setup, the information is rarely accurate and displays available spots where there aren’t any. 1/5 stars at the most.

This is so bad that I’m not sure it’s even a completed app. It doesn’t seem like it’s even been tested. In my case LagunaBeachParking kept telling me the parking space didn’t exist. No one to contact but....the no one who wrote this wants a $0.40 transaction fee. It’s nonsense. The reality is, if you really got this working well then you’d save on the meter maid that has to run around and collect all the money. I’m deleting this and just using cash.

LagunaBeachParking is mostly good except for three points. Several parking spots will not populate in LagunaBeachParking , requiring you enter the CCV every time to pay doesn’t make sense, I got a ticket even though I had 20 minutes left with the correct space and license plate number.
Now I have to deal with a ticket because LagunaBeachParking doesn’t work correctly

Why fix what isn’t broken. Just swiping my card is a heck of a lot more convenient then giving my email, birthday, manually entering my card, entering it again when LagunaBeachParking fails to process the transaction. Who ever made the decision to do this should be fired. Straight up and down.

If you are shopping or going to Pageant of the Masters in Laguna Beach, you need LagunaBeachParking. It shows real time parking availablity, and even shows the free trolleys and how many minutes they are from picking you up.

Poor execution — meter didn’t recognize card so I downloaded app, created account, entered credit card info, carefully enter info to pay for parking… aaaand it registered the wrong meter across town. No way to confirm/correct meter selection before or after payment. So I ended up wasting a bunch of time to ultimately pay for somebody else to park.

I never wrote a review before but I feel to share my experience with LagunaBeachParking. Why on earth developing something for Laguna when nice apps as parkmobile exist for every city around? Endless time to download in Laguna without 4g. Silly sign-up... After 20mn not even able to get it working... Had to come back to the car and finally leave... Please go on parkmobile asap... This is beyond fixing

Every parking meter advertises LagunaBeachParking and Lauren from Laguna Beach and The Hills promoted it, but I it is useless! It would not allow me to put in all my credit cart information so I could use it. Clearly whomever programmed it did not know what they were doing. Even the place on LagunaBeachParking that allows you to send a message to the developers doesn’t work. Well done!

Can’t create account, keyboard blocks next button. Can’t pay without account. Useless. Bring quarters only. Won’t take dimes or other change... oh it’ll take them, but no time credit applied.

If you’re here standing at a meter don’t bother. The zone won’t be correct and you’ll get fined even though you paid. Useless.

Pretty self explanatory.

LagunaBeachParking was a needed addition, cities like Newport use mobile parking payment apps that are great! But this is a joke. Limited information that no one should even be trying to find while driving is buried in a system that a non-local could never figure out(neighborhood names). The few times I’ve tried it, the spots didn’t register as existing in LagunaBeachParking . Also any of the useful features like the trolley tracker redirect to the old Laguna app. Lastly the city wasted a ridiculous amount of money on the spot tracking infrastructure to pair it with an app developed by an 84 year old and coded by a 9 year old(just assuming based on how well it works)
But I hope it gets better!

As others have said the registration process takes way too long. LagunaBeachParking also changes your card just to add it to your account without warning as a processing fee. Pretty sure it’s illegal to charge someone without any prior notification. They then charge another processing fee to pay for parking. Shame on Laguna Beach, use with caution.

You can’t even tell what most of the features are because the use white font on white background. I downloaded it because the meter buttons were not working but was never able to get LagunaBeachParking to work either. I kept getting an error message.

I’ve been trying to add more parking to my meter for an hour but I never got the authorization email (I checked junk). The guest features are nice if you’re visiting or looking for parking spaces. They should just use Park Mobile like everywhere else for meters.

LagunaBeachParking is a complete failure. Tried to register an account and it just gives a random error with no info. It also allows you to skip and proceed without registering but won’t let you pay if you don’t register,
Which as I said errors out with no description of error.

I was able to pay for parking once, since then it has never worked. You type in all the required information and it responds back. “ERROR couldn’t get rate data from server”
I’ve tried to contact help, but there is no help. Hopefully LB will switch to a different APP.
