Tried to log in maybe twenty times tonight, but after the first 4 times (and 20 minutes) finally got two emails. The codes in both didn’t work (expired). Gave it a test for 3-4 hrs and tried again a few more times, no email.

Tried both The desktop app and the MacOS app, and the iOS app. The last few times I used iOS app. Only the iOS app shows a countdown timer of 2 minutes, which expired, without an email…

The whole thing seems… odd. Not a standard format (pdf), doesn’t load in normal readers…. Idk. I don’t like it. The book was inexpensive and did not advertise what format, just “eBook” so kind of a bait and switch for a weird broken experience, when my expectation was a more standard format….

Had to download Glassboxx to listen to the 11 audiobooks I purchased at the Princeton University Press annual sale. Only one book plays, and even that with glitches. Glassboxx freezes constantly (and it’s not my phone issue, I have 400GB free). It would have been a better deal if I paid full price for the books on Apple Books - at least I would have been able to listen to them. I’m surprised respectable publishers associate with such a junk of an app!

When an app requires a verigication code within two minutes and the don't send it until the next morning (when it, of course, doesn't work) it is beyond non-functional, it is a waste of space on your device. Deleting forever.

I bought a ebook from Fox Publishing and was directed to Glassboxx, signed up for Glassboxx and had to respond within 2 minutes with a “verification code “. Did not receive the code after 3 attempts. Now my purchase is in limbo. Looking at Glassboxx reviews I am not the only one with this complaint.

Glassboxx was the only option for me to download and view a particular ebook. Glassboxx often shows blank pages in the book. Glassboxx does not rotate the book when I rotate the iPad. I frequently have to restart Glassboxx to view a section of the book.

I purchased two instructional ebooks. They were paid in full and credit card charged. Downloaded Glassboxx and successfully installed app, and was “verified.”

No books displayed or available for download to read. Waited for considerable time and still nothing. Sent email and no reply. Reviewed FAQ’s no help.

When a credit card is charged the material should be available. App says wait ten minutes. Nothing on app to read hours after credit card charged. Still not books as of this writing.

Glassboxx keeps crashing when I open it. I can’t read the book I purchased. Terrible experience.

Glassboxx keeps crashing every time I try to read the book I've downloaded.

Also, there's something wrong with the flip the page design. Part of the bottom or top of the page is blocked by the header/toolbar margin, which means that I cannot read the last/first sentences of each page.

Had to download app to access a cookbook from an Italian chef. App does not run and is currently in purgatory, just the spinning wheel and nothing loads.

I downloaded 5 books then later on i cant open it. Waited for a couple of days and same result still not working. I dont what to do anymore wasted good chunk of money.

One star is generous for Glassboxx and developer! App crashes on startup on iOS. Also crashes when loading a downloaded book on the Windows version. Contacting customer service resulted in an automated “we’ll get back to you”, and nothing further.

Book is there but will not download. Tried on my laptop and same issue. Unethical to sell books when your interface for reading does not work

Bought an ebook which won’t download. Customer help is nonexistent. Now I’ve paid for a book that I can’t read! Unless you like being screwed, pick something else. ANYTHING ELSE!

I was forced to use Glassboxx for a travel book I wanted. Glassboxx won’t do basic things like zoom. So all the maps in the book are worthless. Pathetic app.

Downloaded this for access to one book that publisher only made available e-book form through Glassboxx . Was unable to access the book, and nearly a month after reporting this to their support, there’s no solution or update. Buggy, typos in the FAQ, clearly sketchy backend - as someone working in software, I have no idea how a developer lets this get released.

Using this app Version 2.2.1 with iOS 15.4.1 on both iPhone and iPad. When I switch playback speed to 1.5x it plays fine until my phone screen goes to sleep or I minimize Glassboxx — at which point the playback speed immediate goes back to 1x and stays there until I reopen Glassboxx and re-select my preferred speed. Issue occurs on both devices and I have attempted to reinstall Glassboxx but the issue persists. I’ve contacted the developers but have not heard back. Please help!

UPDATED 6.2.2022 - wanted to thank the developers who reached out to me via email after I posted the original review. While they said there is not an immediate fix for the playback speed bug, they said they are working on a fix which they will push in a future update. Once this is fixed this will be a 5 star app. Thanks!

This is the best app for book reading and listening so far. I use a kindle to listen books, still I enjoy it. It’s UI is so unique and smooth that it can even beat a kindle sometimes. I loved Glassboxx so much, all the features are great.

Changing this review based on the developer’s swift, helpful reply.
Glassboxx now works, and I am able to use it as hoped.
Would love it the orientation would change, but this is minor.
Most important is the ability to access the books.

ORIGINAL REVIEW
I rely on Glassboxx because it is the only way to access two music textbooks that are vital, and that were not inexpensive.
However it no longer opens.
As a consequence, I cannot use the books at present.
This is quite frustrating.

I will gladly change my review once the developer clears this up.

I am eager to support publishing companies directly while purchasing audiobooks, especially over Amazon/Audible, which I also have a subscription. Glassboxx is easy to use BUT I need a bookmark feature. I also wish it were possible to see how much time is remaining in the entire audiobook. Currently I can only see time remaining for current track, which is less useful for me. I’ll stick around and hope to see a few more features develop.

Just started using this app today. It is so beautiful and zen compared to kindle! Font selection, setting selections are intuitive. They even have a font for dyslexics (being one I really appreciate the developers for considering us). If I could wish for one additional feature it would be to allow for pagination via the cursor keys available on an iPad Magic Keyboard. Congrats for an excellent design that is truly user-centered!

One aspect of the design that I find a bit distracting is the red reading progress bar at the bottom of the page. It's nice to know how much I've read but the color red is so strongly associated with STOP (at least in the USA) my concentration is broken every time I look at the bottom of the page. Perhaps a more neutral color that even color blind people could see, like a royal blue?

First time user having some trouble getting the book I purchased to function correctly. Also to place it on the two devices I read books and listen to audiobooks on. The this app help was almost instantly available and I was able to quickly access my book. Looks like a good app and works smoothly now. Thank you help team!
